2. INTRODUCTION
• “ Package programme “
• Started in 1960 , with the assistance of ford
foundation
• Launched as pilot basis in one district of 7 states.
- Thanjavur ( Tamil nadu )
- West Godawari ( Andhra Pradesh )
- Shahabad ( Bihar )
- Raipur ( Madhya Pradesh )
- Aligarh ( Uttar Pradesh )
- Ludhiana ( Punjab )
- Pali ( Rajasthan )
3. Objectives
• Rapid increase in agricultural production
through concentration of financial, technical
and administrative resources.
• Achieve a self generating breakthrough in
agricultural productivity.
• Raise the production potential by simulating
the human and physical process of change .
• To extend such intensified agricultural
production programmers to other areas.
4. Activities
• Adequate and prompt supply of credit
• Adequate and timely supply of production requisites
• Arrangements for marketing
• Adequate storage facilities for supplies
• Intensive educational efforts: crop demonstration,
improved agricultural practices, etc.
• Strengthening transport arrangements
• Strengthening village organizations
• Analysis and evolution of the programme
• Establishment of agricultural workshops, seed &
soil testing laboratories, etc.

• Neglect of the equity aspect of
development
• Not extended beyond the 300 blocks in
16 districts and hence could not reach
larger goal
• Excessive usage of external resources

backward integration is key to better
productivity
• Role of farm plan prepared with active
