In the pursuit of improving capacities in agricultural research and innovation systems

  • 1. Welcome Dr Srinivasacharyulu Attaluri Presentation made on 14.9.2016 at MANAGE in the interview for the post of program officer. [In the Pursuit of Improving Capacities in Agricultural Research and Innovation Systems]

During 2015-16, trained 135 Senior and Middle level officers through 6 programs on the themes of: • Process Documentation for Agricultural Innovations • Social Media for Agriculture • ICT for Modified Extension Scheme • Community Radio for Agricultural Development.

During 2013-15, Coordinated three US-India-Africa International Triangular Training Programs on: • New Dimensions in Agricultural Extension Management for Extension Practitioners • 99 Executives from Kenya, Liberia and Malawi trained.

During 2014, Coordinated a 10-day Training Program for Indonesian Officials on: • Agricultural Extension System and Community Development in India • Trained 10 Senior officials from Indonesian Agency of Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development (AAEHRD), Indonesia. During 2013, Coordinated a 10-day Training Program for Afghan Officials on: •“Public- Private Partnership Policy and Strategies for Agriculture Sector” for Civil Servants of Afghanistan. •31 senior officials participated. Networking, Exchanging Agricultural Information and Capacity Development @SAARC Promoting ICT and Knowledge Management • Workshop on Role of ICT in poverty alleviation through agricultural development in SAARC countries (2003), Bangladesh • Workshop on Attempts and successes of ICT roadmap to villages in SAARC countries (2004), Bangladesh • Organized a 5-day training Capacity Building Programme on Agricultural Library and Information Management (2005), Bhutan in collaboration with the Royal Govt. of Bhutan, and NRTI • Published the outcome of the workshops and widely circulated among Member Country nodal points. Functions • Concept Note preparation • Design, planning and organization of workshops • Collaboration with Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), BRAC, Grameen and Bangladesh Computer Council • Logistic arrangements to international delegates, travel, visa and stay • Editing of country papers and moderating the discussions • Preparation and publishing the proceedings • Partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Bhutan and NRTI • Training need assessment

Strengthening Agricultural Research, Extension and Innovation Systems @ APAARI/FAO Capacity Development • Orgnised International Workshops / Consultations on ICT /ICM for AR4D covering 225 Senior Managers from NARS. • Organised programs in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Fiji, Thaniland with the collaboration with ICAR, ICRISAT, BARC, SPC, SAARC, AIT, FAO, GFAR, ACIAR, CTA, UNDP, ADB • Taken the lead to implement CIARD / GODAN in Asia and the Pacific Region • Preparing and publishing ICT Status Report (2011); Success Stories on ICT in Agriculture (2010 and 2013) Functions • Advocacy & Policy support to Member countries • Acting as Nodal Point for implementing International capacity programs in Asia and the Pacific region • Establishing strong partnerships with organisations in the region • Publishing highly relevant status reports, success stories, and conducting studies • Content management on APAARI and APCoAB portals.

Consultancy and Research @ APAARI/FAO Consultancy and Research Assignments: • Undertaken GCARD Consultation of Agricultural Research for Development process in the region (2010) – GFAR/ FAO • Study of IFPRI/ASTI on R&D investment and capacity trends in South Asia (2012) • Implementation of activities under the theme Building Knowledge Gaps of GCARD Roadmap (2012).
