POSTPARTUM STOMACH
DIASTASIS RECTI
 “Diastasis recti” means your belly sticks out
because the space between your left and right belly
muscles has widened. You might call it a “pooch.”
 It's very common among pregnant women.
 Significance:
 The condition of diastasis recti may produce
musculoskeletal complaints, such as low back pain,
as a result of decreased ability of the abdominal
muscles to stabilize the pelvis and lumbar spine.

HOW CAN A POSTPARTUM WRAP HELP?
 The main purpose of a belly wrap is to support
and align your abdomen until
your abdominal organs and muscles can do their
normal jobs again.
 They can also help with floppy and loose skin and
provide light compression to help your uterus
shrink.

PREGNANCY INDUCED PATHOLOGY
 Postural Back Pain
 Back pain commonly occurs because of the
postural changes of pregnancy, increased
ligamentous laxity, and decreased abdominal
muscle function
 The symptoms of low back pain usually worsen with
muscle fatigue from static postures or as the day
progresses; symptoms are usually relieved with rest
or change of position. Women who are physically fit
generally have less back pain during pregnancy.

 Sacroiliac/Pelvic Girdle Pain
 Sacroiliac pain is localized to the posterior pelvis
and is described as stabbing deep into the buttocks
distal and lateral to L5/S1.

PELVIC FLOOR STRENGTHENING
POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION (PPD)
 affects some women after giving birth to an infant.
 the condition develops within 4 to 6 weeks after
giving birth, but it can sometimes take several
months to appear.
SYMPTOMS
 sleeping problems
 problems making decisions and concentrating
 self-confidence problems
 changes in appetite
 anxiety
 fatigue, or reluctance to be involved in any physical
activity
 feelings of guilt
 Suicidal thoughts
TREATMENT
 Get in touch with doctor
 Follow a well-balanced healthy diet.
 Eat frequently to maintain blood sugar levels.
 Get at least 7 to 8 hours good-quality sleep each
night.
 Make lists and be organized to reduce stress.
 Be open in talking to close friends, partners, and
family members about feelings and concerns.

  • 4. DIASTASIS RECTI  “Diastasis recti” means your belly sticks out because the space between your left and right belly muscles has widened. You might call it a “pooch.”  It's very common among pregnant women.  Significance:  The condition of diastasis recti may produce musculoskeletal complaints, such as low back pain, as a result of decreased ability of the abdominal muscles to stabilize the pelvis and lumbar spine.
  • 7. HOW CAN A POSTPARTUM WRAP HELP?  The main purpose of a belly wrap is to support and align your abdomen until your abdominal organs and muscles can do their normal jobs again.  They can also help with floppy and loose skin and provide light compression to help your uterus shrink.

PREGNANCY INDUCED PATHOLOGY  Postural Back Pain  Back pain commonly occurs because of the postural changes of pregnancy, increased ligamentous laxity, and decreased abdominal muscle function  The symptoms of low back pain usually worsen with muscle fatigue from static postures or as the day progresses; symptoms are usually relieved with rest or change of position. TREATMENT  Get in touch with doctor  Follow a well-balanced healthy diet.  Eat frequently to maintain blood sugar levels.  Get at least 7 to 8 hours good-quality sleep each night.  Make lists and be organized to reduce stress.  Be open in talking to close friends, partners, and family members about feelings and concerns.
