2. KANDLA PORT Kandla port is situated in the the Kandla Creek and is 90 kms. from the mouth of the Gulf Of Kachch. It is a protected natural harbour. Latitude: 23 o 01' N Longitude: 70 o 13' E

5. MORMUGAO PORT Mormugao Port , GOA one of the oldest ports on the west coast of India, with a fine natural harbour. It has been relentlessly serving the nation in its economic development for over a century. The Port was declared a Major Port on 2.12.1963. Mormugao Port, GOA is the premier iron ore exporting Port of India with an annual throughput of around 33.81 million tones of iron ore traffic.

7. JNPT  JNPT is the second youngest port after Ennore. It is located at the eastern end of Mumbai in the Nhava Sheva area and situated at latitude 18º 56’ 43” N and longitude 72º56’ 24” E.  Current designed channel depth of JNPT is 11 metres and depth at berths is 13.5 metres. JNPT can take in vessels having laden draft upto 12.5 metres.The width of the channel is 400 metres at entry point and 460 metres off the berths.  Port cargo handling facilities include container terminals, a liquid handling terminal and a shallow water berth which can handle break-bulk and container traffic both.

11. As liquid cargo handled by ports consists of products from various industries, the key industries impacting growth of liquid cargo were studied. The forecast for the traffic was arrived at 2 levels a. National level forecasts for the commodity b. JNPT forecasts for the commodity JNPT liquid cargo traffic was estimated for the categories of crude, POL product, chemicals and other liquids . JNPT has no crude linkages with existing refineries and does not service crude traffic at present. The crude traffic forecast for JNPT was based on ONGC plans to ship a part of its offshore crude production at Bombay High via JNPT to the coastal refinery of Mangalore. JNPT POL product traffic is largely coastal based traffic which follows national trends of coastal traffic. Exports growth from the increase in refining capacity in Mumbai region was factored into the forecast. 12. TUTICORIN PORT Tuticorin Port is located on the South Eastern coast of India at latitude 8o 45'N and longitude 78o 13'E. declared as a minor anchorage port in 1868. On July 11, 1974,Tuticorin Port was declared as the 10th major port.

18. PIPAVAV PORT Geographical Location:- Port Pipavav is located at Latitude 20 54'N and Longitude 71 30'E on the west coast of India, at a distance of 140 Kms South west of Bhavnagar. Commodities handling:- Pipavav port mainly deals in commodities like cotton, wood, pulp, sesame seeds, cattle feeds, agricultural products, ceramic tiles to soda ash, coal, containers, steel etc.

19. Marine Infrastructure Draft Port Pipavav currently has a vessel acceptance draft of 12.5m, with an outer channel depth of 12.5m and a turning basin depth of 11.5m at chart datum. The draft at the bulk and container berths is 13.5m and at the LPG berth the draft is 15.5m at chart datum. Pilotage & Towage: Pilotage at Port Pipavav is compulsory. Port Pipavav provides the pilotage and towage services at the port and has deployed three tugs for this purpose. Channel : The channel length at the port is 4,550 meter and due to the favourable oceanographic conditions, the port offers day and night navigation to all vessels other than LPG vessels which are berthed or de-berthed during the day only.

22. MUNDRA PORT  Mundra port is located at 60 km west of Gandhidham in Kutch district of Gujarat. Mundra Port is strategically located at (Latitude: 22º 43’ 88’ N; Longitude: 69º 42’ 34’ E)  Mundra port is an all weather, independent and commercial port.  The pilotage withing Mundra port limits is compulsory.  Mundra port has a clear deep water approach with a minimum depth of 18 m at any state of tide.  Mundra has 8 tugs  The tidal range is between +0.37 m and +6.40 m; tidal streams flow 0700– 2500 at an average rate of3 kts., and 4 - 5 kts. during spring tides.

29. ENNORE PORT Ennore port is situated on the coromandal coast about 24km north of Chennai Port along the coast line, in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is the 12the Major Port in India and the first Corporatized Major Port in India The Port was declared as a Major Port under the Indian Ports Act, 1908 in March 1999 and incorporated as a Ennore Port Limited under the Companies Act, 1956 in October 1999

30. CONTD.. The permissible draught is 13.5m Ennore Port presently owns 836 ha of land located inside and outside of the port boundary wall. The port was inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation by the Honourable Prime Minister of India on 1.2.2001. Commercial operations commenced with Handymax geared vessels for unloading of thermal coal on 22.6.2001 The main cargo handled at the Port of Ennore is thermal coal, which is import for TNEB (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board). Other present cargoes handled are iron ore and liquid bulk cargo.

INTRODUCTION DPL is setting up an all weather deep draft direct berthing port at Dighi (southern shore) and Agardanda (northern shore) of rajpuri Creek,District raigadh,state of Maharashtra, Republic of india. By way of development of berths and handling on the same bulk, break bulk, liquid, LPG/LNG and container cargo, as also, DPL has already started operations from the existing berth at DIGHI PORT.

46. BERTHING FACILITIES Currently Karaikal port has two berths, one for general cargo and the other for coal. The total length of both the berths is 460m and the width is 20.8 m. The handling capacity of coal is 3.0 MTPA and the cargo berth is 2.2 MTPA. Three more berths, under development, will be the next addition to the Port. A dedicated coal berth, a liquid/general cargo berth and an OSV/PSV berth will take the cumulative capacity of the port to 20.5 MTPA. The final phase will see an addition of 2 container berths, an additional coal berth and a multi-cargo berth, taking the total to 9 berths with a cumulative handling capacity of 46.9 MPTA.
