This document summarizes Paris Wandler's portfolio from 2013, including projects for a concert venue located in a forest overlooking Lake Michigan, a market and sandwich shop located next to an existing restaurant, and the redesign of the interior of the Kohler Design Center. The concert venue is designed to take advantage of the natural landscape and integrate pathways connecting the building to trails. The market and shop are designed to showcase and sell locally grown produce while incorporating the restaurant next door. The Kohler Center redesign features a glass elevator and stairway as the focal point of the newly designed interior which highlights Kohler products throughout different levels of the building.

2. Concert In The Park
Located in Grant Park, South Milwaukee
viewers stumble upon this heavy element
hidden deep within the forest. Placing a
concert venue on this natural landscape
redefines the experience one has. The hall is placed on
top of a bluff overlooking Lake
Michigan, taking advantage of the vast
landscape and natural beauty. Trails intersect
the building allowing for individuals to
access the site. Pathways are the only means
of access to the building, creating a unique experience
as people travel to the venue.
The west side of the building is fully
enclosed, blocking the view of the lake until the
process of the journey emerges into an open landscape
enjoying the view of the lake. The forms extruding from the
building and concrete structure represent the geological
forces of the earth. This feeling of history that emerged from the
ground, turning into a unique concert experience; being surrounded
by the beauty of musical composition in a natural environment.

Located in South Milwaukee, WI
lies a secluded park of
380 acres in dense forest. I
chose a part of this forest
to place a concert venue over
looking the bluff on Lake
Michigan. Taking advantage
of the natural landscape
and views the site has to
offer.

The study on “Phsycoacoustics” allows
for this arrangement to happen. viewers
perceive music diffeerently in a designed
environement. Also by the many angles
throughout the space, it allows for the
music to flow and completely envelope
the theatre.

allows for more
interaction with pedestrians
on a less busy street.
Braise Provisions
Braise is a well known restaurant in
Milwaukee they pride themselves
on only using locally grown food and
only use produce that is in season.
Because of this the menu is always
changing. Braise recently bought
a building right along side them. The
goal was to transform the
exsiting single family home into a
fresh market. So they can keep
supporting the local farmers and
house there exsiting production of
“produce in a bag”. A way to have
people come in and pick some
produce. The market also features
a fresh sandwich shop for locals to
come and enjoy.

Both areas are covered with
doors to hide necessary
services. One hides the main
entry for transporting garbage.
The other hides the dumpsters
and garbage.

Summer Perspective
Adding this seasonal door option allows for
produce to be presented on warmer days.
This gives different options throughout the
year. When closed the glass allows for
more sunlight to inhibit the space during
colder weather.

9. Kohler Design Center
Entry and Reception Desk ViewThe KOHLER design center was
given as an existing building.
Goal was to redesign the
interior of the space showing
off more of the KOHLER
product and history in a fluid
and dramatic way.
I chose to show this effect as
soon as one enters the
building. Featurning a large
glass elevator and stairway
as a way to move throughout
the different levels and
creating a unique experience.

Water Deck features all
working product for the
customer to test. Towards the
back of the deck is a wall that
features some of the KOHLER
tiles while water flows from the
top to the lower level.

11. Select Milwaukee
Select MKE is a non-Profit organization
that takes foreclosed duplex’s and help
families move in to them at a low cost.
The goal was to take a home on Milwaukee’s
west side and completely transform the
space. So that clients can see the potential
even in the run down state.
I chose to open up the space and make the
duplex into a living single family home. The
home has a loft feeling to it that makes it
seem bigger then it really is. By adding three
bedrooms and a potential bedroom the home
allows for larger families.
