4. MIAD Art Gallery Site Context
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Project: To design an art gallery for the purpose of
displaying works from the students and alumni of the
Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. The art gallery
will double as a social rendezvous point and boasts a
65 person classroom, outdoor galleria and full ser-
vice concessions with outdoor seating area. The main
gallery is layed out in a double height space wrapped
with a mezzanine and topped with a unique sawtooth
roof to allow plenty of natural light. The glass wall
in the lobby provides a weather barrier between the
lobby and the outdoor galleria and has the option of
folding unto itself allowing for an open air feel.

Path And Volume
Kettle Moraine, Wisconsin
Project: To design a path and outdoor viewing area
used for birdwatching. The site is a marshland that
can undergo drastic seasonal changes in its habitat
which presents the challenge of designing for such
Structural Rhythm diversity. My solution is to raise the path and volume
above the seasonal maximum flood levels by hanging it
from a ridig structure allowing it to be as open as
possible, maximizing viewing capability. In doing so,
the design leaves a much smaller footprint on the land
and allows for normal plant growth and natural habita-
tion to take place.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Project: To design an international dance school based on the
following criteria; overall vision and design aesthetics, rela-
tionship between the design and the built and natural environment,
and overall innovation in design. I was tasked mainly with site
design and the performance hall building. The site design includes
outdoor study areas, tennis courts, excercise equipment, and view-
ing areas at waterâs edge with unrestricted views of Corcovado
mountain and Cristo Redentor. The outdoor commons around campus
have terraced green spaces for gathering, bringing a sense of pri-
vacy as well as community.

Row Housing Project
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Project: To design a row housing addition to the
Brewerâs Hill area of Milwaukee, north of downtown.
The site lies on Vine Street half a block from MLK
Drive. The design centers around the vertical cir-
culation shaft which doubles as a light well allow-
ing plenty of natural light into each floor. With its
natural material palette and green roofs covering 90%
of the roofing space the design aimed at minimizing
the buildingâs environmental footprint and reducing
water runoff.
