Cellar DoorRestaurant & Lounge
The intent of the project was to create a five start restaurant and music lounge
that provided an array of socially diverse guests with a relaxing, yet exciting
atmosphere. Cellar door is set in the Mayfair entertainment district of London,
England, with the facade existing harmoniously, yet standing out, against
neighboring architecture. The design is meant to reflect a cohesive collaboration
of traditional and contemporary design, with barrel vaulted ceilings of exposed
brick and wire rope cables strung through the atrium enclosure. From the first
steps into the lobby and to their seats, guests are enveloped by an acoustical
and visual experience that tingles their senses. The interior provides an intimate
atmosphere that allows guests to enjoy the evening with small or
large groups, with each visit to Cellar Door being a new experience.

The interior of Cellar Door provides an experience that guests cannot find anywhere else, as the space is a unique combination of
traditional and contemporary design. Each seating area is semi-private, with partial visual dividers between seating areas made of ungalvanized
steel wire cables soaring twenty-four feet to the finished ceiling. The primary bar area features metal spring inspired bar stools and a lighting
element highlighted by a vaulted brick ceiling and reclaimed wood drop ceiling. Wallpaper reinforces the branding of Cellar Door with
gold key and flower motifs, a subtle and classic finish paired with a custom textured chipped paint feature wall behind the primary bar.

The interior perspective is a view through guests eyes as they enter the ground level and look up through the open atrium rising one
hundred and twenty feet. Each floor features a different shape of catwalk that guests must cross once upstairs in order to enter and
circulate through the two restaurant and lounge areas. The atrium is situated on the facade of the building, providing an exciting view of
Hyde Park and the neighborhood of Mayfair. Each detail shows the contrasting floor finishes of eight inch wood plank and traditional carpet.

Tasadana
Tasadana is the name of the mountain pose that is practiced by yoga gurus in India. The
tasadana position is the starting point for all other asana positions in yoga, which reflects
the concept of this residential design. The home is meant to support and compliment the
professional and social aspects of the young professionals life, acting as the starting place
for future growth. The concept of growth is exemplified through the floor finish that passes
through the windows and upwards to the second storey ceiling. The design of the modern
style loft home includes all necessary living spaces with a library overlooking the lower level
living room. The house is located in the hills where snow loads are not an issue for the flat
pitch roof, which contrasts the rolling hills of the natural scene it quietly takes place within.
Windows are situated on the sun path in order to provide passive solar
heating, as well as a tranquil backdrop of green space which promotes well being.

K e n s h o
S h o : nature, absolute self, emptiness, equality, oneness, the absolute.
K e n : “perceive.” An in-depth realization that the everyday world is actually a fully integrated-interdefused non-dual phenomenon.
Kensho refers to an enlightenment, or awakening experience. It is folly to try to describe this experience in words, however, a kensho reportedly
gives one a glimpse of one’s own nature and the true nature of reality. The wellness center aims to provide guests with their own unique true nature.
Kensho Wellness Center includes the necessary spaces to give a full view of total wellbeing and health. The ground floor includes a health
clinic with experienced health practitioners, a gym with state of the art equipment to strengthen muscles and aerobics studios, a spa with registered
massage therapists, a float pool with star shaped lighting, and seminar spaces near the main reception. The second level includes yoga studios,
a daycare for children, and a spiritual garden for meditation and prayer for all beliefs which overlooks the interior green roof and exterior shoreline.

Clothing Boutique
The Phil Petter flagship boutique is a mens fashion provider
located in the Oxford Circus shopping district in London, England. The
design of the facade and interior are meant to compliment the casual and
professional attire of the Phil Petter clothing line, while referencing the
industrial style and history of the Phil Petter franchise. The facade
boasts traditional Victorian architectural features native to London,
accompanied by large feature windows and a rounded entrance
meant to gravitate passersby into the boutique. Clients of the store are
greeted by a large abstract steel tree with reclaimed antique
window frames, where new arrival clothing is hung. The tree references the
concept of the industrial style and history of Phil Petter. As with any retail store,
creating positive circulation paths through sales areas is crucial to
support ensuring sales within the store and future of the brand.

The Kinetic Innovation Lab is located on the Algonquin College campus in Ottawa, Ontario, a competition that was won by my team of five
members of the Bachelor of Interior Design program at Algonquin. The Applied Research and Entrepreneurial Departments requested from the
fifteen participating teams that the design provide: a flexible incubation space for six startup companies with the necessary support spaces:
conference room, collaboration area, locker area for valuables, and a kitchenette. The design had to show kinetic growth, which was done by
the “pixilated tree” within the entrance wall, and the shadow it cast through the floor finishes and up the furthest parallel wall. One challenges of
the existing space was noise and poor acoustics, which was fixed through sound clouds hung from the ceiling made from poster boards of past
students of the Applied Research program. I acted as one of two project managers and co-design lead within this project. The project was
carried forward through the construction phase, and presented at Applied Research Day at the college, with an actual spent budget of $20,000.
Sadly, the college reclaimed the space and moved it to a new location and changed the design, with only our furniture selection and floor and
wall finishes used. Pictures on adjacent page show constructed pallet walls on casters and selected finishes presented at Applied Research Day.

The hand sketches shown here are some of the local scenes that
are experienced by the residents of Ottawa, Ontario. First, the
Ottawa Arts Council Building located in the historic Byward Market. The
facade shows traditional architecture native to the Lower Town district of
Ottawa. Our Preservation and Adaptive Reuse class would regularly tour
the Lower and Upper Town districts to marvel at the various styles of
architecture still standing tall as the pride of Ottawa’s history. This page
shows the primary characteristics that give the Ottawa Arts Council
Building it’s personality. I was personally drawn to this building because of
the primary cornice and the lone window shown on the side of the building.
The second hand drawing is an interior perspective of the Bayshore
shopping center before its latest renovations. This drawing was
completedinthirdyearandoriginallycompletedwithgraphiteandrendering
markers, but shown here in black and white to allow the volume of the three
storey interior and features of the space stand out within the perspective.

Photography is an important part of my design education, aiding
in all aspects of how I carry out my design process. The featured
personal work here are just some favorites from my latest trip to beautiful
British Columbia over the holidays in December. The pictures are
various locations around Victoria, on Vancouver Island. From
hiking Lone Tree Hill, to crab fishing on the pier in Sooke, all of these
scenes are where I experienced a
peaceful moment with myself and my surroundings.
I learned something new in each of these places, one of which
was a story about a man who lives on his boat all year round with
a smaller boat tied to the pier that he uses to get back and forth.
One of my favorite things that I learned, which describes my latest
trip to Victoria, was a saying by Fran Logan, a resident of the island:
“Forever is long time, but not long enough with you”.
M o d e l s
Model making is an important part of design as this is how
a designer can fully grasp the volumes and spaces they
create, as well as a means communicate those ideas to others.
A loft space was that I completed in first year with one
other group member is shown on the first page. The model is
made from foamcore, illustration board, acetate, and white
finishing paper. All cuts completed by hand.
A building section showing the construction of a residential home
is seen on the adjacent page, alongside a chair that was built by
myselfandoneothergroupmember.Thechairfunctionsasareading
chair with removable shelf that can also act as a formal dining chair.
Other residential models are shown as well, with
removable parts to show the interior spaces. An abstract
shadow model from my Design Studies program is also
shown, with contrasting positions of squares, with the shadow
catcher balancing perfectly atop. All cuts completed by hand.

This drawing was completedinthirdyearandoriginallycompletedwithgraphiteandrendering markers, but shown here in black and white to allow the volume of the three storey interior and features of the space stand out within the perspective.

The featured personal work here are just some favorites from my latest trip to beautiful British Columbia over the holidays in December. The pictures are various locations around Victoria, on Vancouver Island. From hiking Lone Tree Hill, to crab fishing on the pier in Sooke, all of these scenes are where I experienced a peaceful moment with myself and my surroundings. I learned something new in each of these places, one of which was a story about a man who lives on his boat all year round with a smaller boat tied to the pier that he uses to get back and forth. One of my favorite things that I learned, which describes my latest trip to Victoria, was a saying by Fran Logan, a resident of the island: “Forever is long time, but not long enough with you”.

  • 20. M o d e l s Model making is an important part of design as this is how a designer can fully grasp the volumes and spaces they create, as well as a means communicate those ideas to others. A loft space was that I completed in first year with one other group member is shown on the first page. The model is made from foamcore, illustration board, acetate, and white finishing paper. All cuts completed by hand. A building section showing the construction of a residential home is seen on the adjacent page, alongside a chair that was built by myselfandoneothergroupmember.Thechairfunctionsasareading chair with removable shelf that can also act as a formal dining chair. Other residential models are shown as well, with removable parts to show the interior spaces. An abstract shadow model from my Design Studies program is also shown, with contrasting positions of squares, with the shadow catcher balancing perfectly atop. All cuts completed by hand.
