ASSIGNMENTS/DISCUSSIONS:
1. COMMUNITY SERVICE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ASSIGNMENTS. I FOUND IT MEANINGFUL TO ME, BECAUSE
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BIG ON HELPING ANY WAY I CAN. I CHOSE TO VOLUNTEER AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER IN
SHERMAN, AND IT WAS REALLY HARD TO NOT TAKE ALL OF THE ANIMALS HOME WITH ME. IT FELT VERY
GOOD TO HELP OUT THE ANIMALS AND SHOW THEM THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT LOVE THEM.
2. METACOGNITION DISCUSSION WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES ALSO. IT SHOWED ME THAT I CAN IMPROVE HOW
I LEARN AND STUDY. IT ALSO SHOWED ME THAT I EXPECTED COLLEGE TO BE LIKE HIGHSCHOOL, AND THAT I
WOULDN’T HAVE TO STUDY AS MUCH. WELL THAT CHANGED REAL QUICK, I REALIZED THAT I HAVE TO PUT
TIME INTO STUDYING AND NOT GET SIDE TRACKED. SO THIS DISCUSSION HELPED ME REALIZE THAT AND LET
ME KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO STRUGGLES WITH STUDYING.
3. I ALSO ENJOYED THE STRESS DISCUSSION. IT SHOWED ME THAT IF WE WANT A CHANGE THEN WE NEED TO
BE THE CHANGE. THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS NOT THE CAUSE OF OUR UNHAPPINESS, WE CAN CONTROL TO BE
HAPPY OR NOT. IT ALSO SHOWED ME THAT I CAN CHANGE MY ATTITUDE TOWARDS SCHOOL AND IT WILL
HELP ME DO BETTER NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT MY FUTURE.
JOURNALS:
1. ONE OF MY FAVORITES HAD TO BE THE CHAPTER THREE JOURNAL ENTRY ELEVEN. IT FELT GOOD TO JUST
WRITE ABOUT MY DREAM I HAD, AND TO VISUALIZE IT. IT MADE ME REALIZE THAT IF I WANT TO FOLLOWING
MY DREAM OF PLAYING COLLEGE BASKETBALL I STILL CAN. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TRYOUT FOR A TEAM
SOMEWHERE.
2. CHAPTER SEVEN JOURNAL ENTRY TWENTY-EIGHT. I LIKE THIS JOURNAL BECAUSE IT SHOWED ME THAT I
RESPECT MYSELF. JUST BY HOW I CHOSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND DRIVE MY FRIENDS HOME FROM A PARTY,
INSTEAD OF DRINKING MYSELF AND SOMEONE POSSIBLY GETTING HURT. I ALSO CHOSE GIVE UP ON A CLASS
I WAS STRUGGLING IN, I CHOSE TO KEEP TRYING AND NOW I AM DOING SO GOOD IN THAT CLASS.
3. CHAPTER NINE JOURNAL ENTRY THIRTY-THREE. IT SHOWED ME THAT I HAVE CHANGED MYSELF IN THE
PROCESS OF THIS COURSE. THAT I HAVE BEGUN BELIEVING IN MYSELF A WHOLE LOT MORE. THAT TO ME IS
AMAZING BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS STRUGGLED WITH BELIEVING IN MYSELF. SO SEEING MY SCORES
IMPROVE MADE ME VERY HAPPY FOR MYSELF.
DISCUSS:
• The week I liked the most would probably have to be number seven. Just because I got to do my
community service and it made me feel like such a better person. Helping those animals, and loving
them so they don’t feel abandoned. Also the last self-assessment, like I said before, it really showed me
how much I have grown and improved myself in these last two weeks. This class at first to me didn’t
seem like it was going to be any fun, but I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed finding myself and learning that I
am the change.
LESSONS:
1. I will know to not give up even when something is challenging, that if I keep striving to do good I will
soon get a positive outcome and it will be worth it in the future.
2. I will now know that I am the one who chooses to be happy or sad, not others. That I am in control of
my emotions.
3. To believe in myself, no matter what goes on in life.

In this course I have learned that I used
to lack self-awareness, and self-
motivation. I used to just let people walk
all over me, and treat me however they
wanted to. I learned that I do not have
to be sad when others hurt me. I am
now more motivated to do my school
work and work harder when I study.

  • 1. BROOKE RANKIN NURSING • I EMBRACE SUCCESS, THE WORDS “I CANT” ARE NOT IN MY VOCABULARY. I AM UNSTOPPABLE! • I RELEASE MY NEED TO COMPARE MYSELF TO OTHERS, I JUDGE MYSELF BY MY STANDARDS OF SUCCESS. I AM ENOUGH JUST AS I AM. • I CHOOSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY OWN HAPPINESS. I WILL NOT LET ANYONE “MAKE” ME ANGRY. I AM IN CONTROL!
  • 2. ASSIGNMENTS/DISCUSSIONS: 1. COMMUNITY SERVICE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ASSIGNMENTS. I FOUND IT MEANINGFUL TO ME, BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BIG ON HELPING ANY WAY I CAN. I CHOSE TO VOLUNTEER AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER IN SHERMAN, AND IT WAS REALLY HARD TO NOT TAKE ALL OF THE ANIMALS HOME WITH ME. IT FELT VERY GOOD TO HELP OUT THE ANIMALS AND SHOW THEM THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT LOVE THEM. 2. METACOGNITION DISCUSSION WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES ALSO. IT SHOWED ME THAT I CAN IMPROVE HOW I LEARN AND STUDY. IT ALSO SHOWED ME THAT I EXPECTED COLLEGE TO BE LIKE HIGHSCHOOL, AND THAT I WOULDN’T HAVE TO STUDY AS MUCH. WELL THAT CHANGED REAL QUICK, I REALIZED THAT I HAVE TO PUT TIME INTO STUDYING AND NOT GET SIDE TRACKED. SO THIS DISCUSSION HELPED ME REALIZE THAT AND LET ME KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO STRUGGLES WITH STUDYING. 3. I ALSO ENJOYED THE STRESS DISCUSSION. IT SHOWED ME THAT IF WE WANT A CHANGE THEN WE NEED TO BE THE CHANGE. THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS NOT THE CAUSE OF OUR UNHAPPINESS, WE CAN CONTROL TO BE HAPPY OR NOT. IT ALSO SHOWED ME THAT I CAN CHANGE MY ATTITUDE TOWARDS SCHOOL AND IT WILL HELP ME DO BETTER NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT MY FUTURE.
  • 3. JOURNALS: 1. ONE OF MY FAVORITES HAD TO BE THE CHAPTER THREE JOURNAL ENTRY ELEVEN. IT FELT GOOD TO JUST WRITE ABOUT MY DREAM I HAD, AND TO VISUALIZE IT. IT MADE ME REALIZE THAT IF I WANT TO FOLLOWING MY DREAM OF PLAYING COLLEGE BASKETBALL I STILL CAN. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TRYOUT FOR A TEAM SOMEWHERE. 2. CHAPTER SEVEN JOURNAL ENTRY TWENTY-EIGHT. I LIKE THIS JOURNAL BECAUSE IT SHOWED ME THAT I RESPECT MYSELF. JUST BY HOW I CHOSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND DRIVE MY FRIENDS HOME FROM A PARTY, INSTEAD OF DRINKING MYSELF AND SOMEONE POSSIBLY GETTING HURT. I ALSO CHOSE GIVE UP ON A CLASS I WAS STRUGGLING IN, I CHOSE TO KEEP TRYING AND NOW I AM DOING SO GOOD IN THAT CLASS. 3. CHAPTER NINE JOURNAL ENTRY THIRTY-THREE. IT SHOWED ME THAT I HAVE CHANGED MYSELF IN THE PROCESS OF THIS COURSE. THAT I HAVE BEGUN BELIEVING IN MYSELF A WHOLE LOT MORE. THAT TO ME IS AMAZING BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS STRUGGLED WITH BELIEVING IN MYSELF. SO SEEING MY SCORES IMPROVE MADE ME VERY HAPPY FOR MYSELF.
  • 4. DISCUSS: • The week I liked the most would probably have to be number seven. Just because I got to do my community service and it made me feel like such a better person. Helping those animals, and loving them so they don’t feel abandoned. Also the last self-assessment, like I said before, it really showed me how much I have grown and improved myself in these last two weeks. This class at first to me didn’t seem like it was going to be any fun, but I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed finding myself and learning that I am the change.
  • 5. LESSONS: 1. I will know to not give up even when something is challenging, that if I keep striving to do good I will soon get a positive outcome and it will be worth it in the future. 2. I will now know that I am the one who chooses to be happy or sad, not others. That I am in control of my emotions. 3. To believe in myself, no matter what goes on in life.

Developing emotional intelligence. In this course I have learned that I used to lack self-awareness, and self- motivation. I used to just let people walk all over me, and treat me however they wanted to. I learned that I do not have to be sad when others hurt me. I am now more motivated to do my school work and work harder when I study.
