For my service learning project I completed for EEX 4070 I helped out Mrs. Tager’s ESE classroom. The children and I would dance and exercise to a variety of music and video clips I brought in. The children learned how fun exercising can be and that it is healthy for you. They also learned how to listen to their heartbeat and feel how fast or slow it was beating according to how hard they were working their heart muscle. This presentation is about my experience their and how it has changed me for the better
I've adapted this from an original presentation that wasn't mine; adding a few more slides. Serves as an excellent introduction to Art History and its methodology.

Draft 1
The first day for me at the University
After a long and anxious waiting for all the summer season, at last, the long-anticipated day came for me to report at the University of South Alabama in Alabama State. The institution is where I was enrolling to peruse a bachelor’s degree on spring 2015. The University of South Alabama is has a worldwide recognition in providing the required education to students. As my first choice, I believe that it can provide me with a quality education. The writing will focus on the first day for me in the university.
Due to anxiety to begin a new life, I woke up so early after a sleepless night so as to prepare for my journey to the university. Since was not well versed with the country and the state environment was new I had to take some time to catch up. I reached an hour earlier than necessary so that I can familiarize myself with where to start since the environment was new to me and all the first years were reporting. Since it was my first day to join the university, I felt so excited and happy. However, I was a bit nervous since I didn’t know anyone. Otherwise, the first day in the university turned to be good.
As I entered the university, I hoped that everything was to go on smoothly just as I had expected. However, due to the complexity of the environment, I became confused and lost. I did not even know where to go. I had to find help from a stranger who showed me the administration block. I braced myself to meet the campus instructor who handled new students and their class allocations. With politeness and willing to assist she showed me the direction and the class. After I had received her instructions, I began to walk through some big buildings, with smart corridors towards the direction with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. While I was approaching, I saw many students and felt strange.
After a while, I decided to become braver. I approached one of the female students to ask her about what was happening, just to realize that we were in the same group. We, therefore, introduced ourselves, her name was Daisy. We joined in for orientation, with the activities for fresh learners in the university. Soon I began feeling better than the way I came in. These activities enabled me to feel like a part of the team, and I was now beginning to feel that I had become an international university student since I came across people from all parts of the world.
The unique thing I realized is that each lecture theatre is named regarding a certain quality that includes humanity, unity, excellent, and innovation. A confident professor entered our classroom. Her name was Miss Darby. She was the teacher of the day since she was going to be our professor in the field of psychology. Right from her look, she seemed to be very competent and ready to teach. Before the lesson began all, my classmates were silent. To begin with, she gave us a smart introduction on herself and then requested all of us to share a ...

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

1. A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat,
determination, and hard work.
-Colin Powell
I truly agree with the quotation above. I dream and exerted much
effort to make this dream into reality. I am poor but certainly a dreamer.
Nothing hinders me to attain my goals, even poverty. In fact, I live with my
aunt because my parents can’t send me to college, and I am as well an
ALAY LAKAD scholar. Now that I am about to reach my dream, I am very
glad and thankful to the people who helped me and inspired me reach my
dreams in life.

Monday
I woke up early at about 5:30 AM because Ma’am Jadulco told us that we
must be early because we will be sent at Talisay Central National High School
wherein we will be having our Pre-service Training. But luckily, the principal, Sir
Jeditho Dela Cuesta, said that we will just be sent off 10:00 AM. We were
relieved. So, what Ma’am did for us to not get bored, she asked someone to sing
in front, just a sort of to entertain and distract us from nervousness. Indeed, it
helped us to lessen the nervous we currently felt that moment.
Aside from those entertainment, Ma’am showed us an example of
portfolio -–one of our requirements—on how are we going to make it and what
are its content. After, she told us stories of her past experiences and the
experiences of the previous batches that may happen to us as well.
The clock ticks so fast that we didn’t noticed that it’s time for us to go to
our laboratory school. Before leaving the campus, Dr. Martinez, our Dean of
Discipline gave us his “WORDS OF WISDOM” that really was beautiful, he told
us to instill discipline in ourselves. Next to Dr. Martinez was Wilfredo Pardorla Jr.
–-the batch president. Their words were truly inspiring and meaningful, after was
a very heartfelt prayer from Mark Don. It was very beautiful and sincere, that it
made us cry.
While we are on our way to TCNHS, I told myself, I should not be nervous
because it’s not going to help me. Though the feeling was there but I just ignore
it. Until we reached the school and had an orientation with the Principal of High
School Department, Sir Dela Cuesta, he introduced to us the subject
coordinators specifically, English, Filipino and Mapeh. Sir Jed told us to remain
gap to the students and the do’s and don’ts of the school. And after, an
orientation happened with the coordinators of each major, our coordinator was
Mrs. Michelle Cabrera, she told us what to do, what are we going to buy for our
pre-service training like, Lesson Plan Notebook, Class Record and Form 2. After
the orientation, we proceeded to the school to observe but not for a long time
because it was announced half day due to some important matter.

Tuesday
Our second day at Talisay National High School, I woke up early to avoid
late. I cooked for breakfast and rush to school because it was about 7:30. But
luckily, the flag didn’t start yet, so I am not late.
Our mentor, Mrs. Cabrera, told us that 1st week of July will serve as our
observation. Our mentor assigned us to different sections and year level that will
be considered as our advisory. The section and year we are assigned is the
section we are going to observe and that classroom will be our home for the
whole Practicum 1. My mentor assigned me to her advisory, the fourth year
section Amethyst, together with Jearald Lastimoso and Janice Tuling, together
with the English and Mapeh Majors.
Silently, I observed the strategies, methods and techniques of teachers,
and as well as the behavior of the students. I saw how the students reacted to
their teachers; I also noticed how noisy they are. Some don’t listen to the teacher
in front, but there are students who are eager to learn. Because of the behavior
shown by the students, I feel like giving up. But then, later, I realized that it’s not
going to help me if I’m going to let my hopes down, my dream lies to how I
handle these students, and if I can survive the challenge they gave me. Because
of it, I became persistent and patient and eventually I learned to understand that
it’s part of my life and the profession I’ve chosen, that I should be an effective
teacher so that my students will listen attentively. Because I believe that,
students act like that because as well of the teacher, if only you are a good
teacher, good in terms of techniques, methods and your way of teaching,
students will surely listen to you.

Wednesday
Our second day of observation, sat the whole day observing the teachers
having class.
During my observation, I adored their English teacher, Mr. Froilan,
because his not just a teacher to them but a friend as well. I could say that he is
an effective teacher because students listen to him even though it was the last
subject of the day. Everybody expected the students to be noisy at the last period
of the day but not with Sir Froilan. His technique is so adorable, very modern that
students of this generation will love. I never saw him used chalk, instead he used
television and others to teach and that’s the thing every students love him so
though I. I love his techniques, the methods he used in teaching and his attitude,
he is a very funny guy but very knowledgeable.
I also observe their adviser, I never saw her discussed.
