This document discusses the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of various prophylactic antiemetic therapies for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). It highlights that droperidol is more cost-effective than ondansetron for adults but less effective in children, where ondansetron is favored. Factors influencing PONV incidence and effective prediction models to assist anesthesiologists in administering antiemetic therapy are also covered.
