Polyfuses provide overcurrent protection and are self-resetting unlike conventional fuses. They are made from a composite of semi-crystalline polymer and conductive particles. When overcurrent occurs, the device heats up and the polymer expands, separating the conductive particles and sharply increasing resistance to reduce current flow. When the overcurrent ends, it cools and resets to low resistance. Polyfuses offer advantages over conventional fuses like automatic reset, compact size, and longer lifetime. They can protect various electrical equipment and components.
