Greg Gaines Documentary
Greg Gaines is an awkward senior in high school who has an interest in making films with his
only friend, Earl Jackson, of whom he calls his coworker . Greg s mom tells him that Rachel
Kushner, a girl he used to go to Hebrew school with, was diagnosed with leukemia. By reason of
this, Mrs. Gaines forces Greg to hang out with Rachel. They start spending more time together,
until they begin to develop a friendship. Soon after this, Rachel has chemotherapy, Earl meets her
and decides he should show her the films that he and Greg made, so they could cheer her up. Even
though Rachel adores the awful films, her illness is getting worse and worse. Meanwhile, Greg
starts to flunk several of his classes, which concerns his teachers and parents. Later

Hipster Vs Geek Research Paper
Hipster vs. Geek If you re down town Pukekohe and see a bearded guy running around wearing
scruffy clothes... No. He is not homeless he s a hipster. That s right. I said hipster. They are the
equivalent of the emos from our parent s generations and the growing craze of ours. A person
who follows the latest trends and fashions. Is what us youngens describe hipsters as. Hipsters are
the ones that whenever the next craze arrives, are the first to say I liked that before it was cool .
Everything about a hipster has been perfectly crafted to give off an illusion that they just don t
care. Hipsters tend to find this century exclusively lame. This is why they are bringing back into
style vintage, retro clothing, in hopes the past will repeat itself.... Show more content on

It can be as short as a month before the next trend makes an appearance, they say so long to the
previous trend because it was so last month . Art and alternative music are the only things that
stick around. Hipsters recognize veganism, steam punk, beard art, Starbucks, cronuts, etc. as
blasts from the past instead of pleasants from the presents. If you had even the slightest interest
in any of the mentioned trends then gasp... You could have hipster fever. People have gotten this
strange idea that all hipsters are opinionated wannabes that will rant on and on about, how press
coffee is sooo much better. I mean of course you ll have the odd few, but that s the same for
every social group. I ve meet geeks that will go on and on about how to correctly pronounce
something in Klingon, nerds that still debate if it s gif or jif, even band nerds who argue the
merits of the oboe over the flute. Don t judge the whole group for the actions of the odd few. It s

What Is The Police Incident Essay
This incident occurred in the City of Auburn, County of King, Washington;
On 8 11 2017 at approximately 1000 hrs I was on routine patrol, in a fully marked Auburn PD
patrol vehicle, in the parking lot of the Muckelshoot Casino at
2402 Auburn Way S. I often patrol this parking lot as it is a high crime area and I have made many
arrest related to stolen vehicles and illegal narcotics.
On this date I was on the eastside of the main parking lot, when I drove by a blue Dodge Charger,
WA/BEP1426. I observed that the vehiclewas occupied by a female, who was sitting in the front
passenger sit, and a male who was sitting in the driver seat. I noticed that the male appeared to be
passed out. The male was sitting in an upright position with his ... Show more content on

She stated that she was. I asked Resendiz if she knew she had warrants for her arrest. Resendiz
stated that she did. I walked to the passenger side of the vehicle and asked Resendiz to step out
of the vehicle. At the time, Resendiz still had a large purse on her lap. As she exited the vehicle
she placed the purse of the floorboard of the vehicle. As I placed Resendiz in handcuffs per my
training, Sgt Hopper asked the male to hand him the purse, as at the time of the arrest Resendiz
was in possession of the purse. The male handed the purse to Sgt
Hopper. I advised Resendiz of her Miranda Rights, which I read from a pre printed card. Resendiz
stated that she understood her rights and agreed to speak with me.
Officer Blake, who had arrived on scene to assist, spoke with the male and asked him for his
name. The male provided his name as Christian Morales. Officer Blake checked Morales through
WACIC/NCIC. The return indicated that Morales had an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant
was active through SO Seattle for
Theft 3rd (C17024915). Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Officer Blake asked
Morales to step out of the vehicle, where he placed him in handcuffs, per his training. Officer
Blake also advised Morales of his Miranda Rights.
Both Morales and Resendiz stated that they did not have IDs, therefore both were confirmed with
DOL photos. The warrants for Morales and Resendiz were confirm, via dispatch, through

King Lear Tragic Hero Essay
A tragic hero is said to be an imperfect character of noble stature, a character with a downfall
caused by an error of judgement which is not deserved, and a self realization from the downfall.
King Lear from the play King Lear fits this description of a tragic hero. King Lear is a tragic play
written by Shakespeare. King Lear is depicted as a tragic herobecause of his high status, his
downfall which was caused by himself, and his realization from his downfall. King Lear is
portrayed as a tragic hero partially because of his imperfectness. Throughout the play, King Lear
makes many mistakes, which show his imperfections. His mistakes eventually led to his insanity.
He does not even want ot go insane. He says, O, let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven keep
me in temper: I would not be mad! (I v 1 2). In the end of the play, Lear s insanity leads to his
demise. When he meets Cordelia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aristotle believes that a tragic hero s downfall is his/her own fault. He also believes that this
decision was made by choice and not by force. King Lear truly fits this description. King Lear s
downfall was dividing his land (and his crown) to his three daughters out of narcissism. Lear
wanted his daughters to tell him how much they loved him. He did this by choice, not knowing
how evil two of his daughters, Goneril and Regan, really were and how they did not actually
love him. His obliviousness was his flaw and trusted his daughters too much. However, King
Lear disowned his youngest daughter, Cordelia, even though she was the one who love him
most. Lear is outraged when she does not tell him how much she loves him. King Lear says
Ingratitude, thou marble hearted fiend, more hideous when thou show st thee in a child than the
sea monster! (I iv 4 6). He mistook her honesty for lack of respect, which partially led to his
downfall as well. By the end of the play, Lear s mistakes caused him to go

What Is The Poem Hunting Snake And Pike
Explore the ways in which the poem Hunting Snake and Pike explore the complex representation of
each animal
In the poems Hunting Snake by Judith Wright and Pike by Ted Hughes, both the poets explore the
ideas of fear and unfamiliar encounters with predators in each of their own domains. Snakes are
animals that place fear into many people although the poem Hunting Snake explores the beauty and
admiration of an apex predator of the bush. Although a Pike is a fish, Ted Hughes still fears the
predator. Using descriptive words to detail the predator, horrifying imagery and extended
metaphors he describes a fearful creature. In this essay I will answer and explore the ways that
these poems demonstrate a complex representation of two respected ... Show more content on

Hughes goes into depth with detail to create a scary image that makes us feel threatened and wary
of this predator. He achieves this by using the quotes killers from the egg and detailed examples of
cannibalism. This message is communicated through the behavior of the fish. It also goes into detail
about how the fish stays top of the food chain. Hughes expresses these points using personification,
horrifying imagery, similes and repetition to emphasis key strong words Hughes explanations are
due to his past experiences, situations he has found himself in and his passion for fishing.
In conclusion, I believe that I have expressed and explored the complex representations of each
animal and that I have supported my arguments that Hunting Snake is a poem about Indigenous
Australians rights and societies fear of over commitment and that Pike represents peoples fear of the
unknown and the survival of the fittest.

Economic Changes In America
The United States was changing from an agricultural society to an industrial society. With this
came along new opportunities, a new way of life, not only for Americans, but outsiders as well.
America was rapidly changing and with that so was the economy, society, culture, and political
views. Americans started to get frightened with the rapid change and the immigrants coming on
their land. The economy was changing, becoming industrial and with this came factories, new
markets, large businesses, and this brought new immigrants to the US. People from other
countries were being driven out by religion and poverty and started to come to the US to learn
how to be a factory worker, a welder, and engineer. By expanding their borders the US gained a new
workforce. People came from Ireland, Germany, Russia, and other... Show more content on

Americans saw them as a threat, that they would take all of their jobs because of their cheap labor.
To keep them out Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act to stop the immigration of the
Chinese. The economy brought new jobs and with that new immigrants looking for jobs, they were
seen as stealing the jobs of the Americans, which lead to hatred and violence towards them. Even
though many Americans did not like the immigrants they made the economy stronger, bringing
more wealth to America and brought the unemployment rates down. The economy was full of jobs
that needed to be filled and the immigrants came to do so, but this brought upheaval between the
races. Society was full of large buildings, the noises of trolley cars and trains, and the hustle of city

The Voice Of John Series Multiple People

Dr. Georgia Purdom, holder of a PhD in Molecular Genetics, Bodie Hodge, holder of a BS and
MS in Medical Engineering, Dr. Francis Schell, MD, a Pennsylvania representative for Human
Life and women who have had abortions. The Voice of John made the viewer look at abortion
through a prism of countless angles, opinions, and stories that will bring the real truth to light.
At the start of the film, they hit the viewer with a gut wrenching situation that begins in 1977,
when a young nurse was working in the obstetrics unit at a major hospital, where she stumbled
upon a LIVE baby, who was placed in a dirty utility room, left to die! What she didn t understand
at the time, was that Roe vs. Wade had just been passed by the U.S. Supreme Court which ruled
in favor of the legalization of abortions. The staff in the facility scolded her as she tried to
explain that a baby was alive and was in need of help after left to die! After hearing the doctors
instructions, she went against their orders and decided to hold the baby in her arms and listen to
his soft whimpers, crying for survival. As she continued to hold the baby, she decided to baptize
him, ultimately saying I name you John, and I will tell the world what I saw here today. I will be
your voice! The film s ultimate purpose is to convince the viewer and bring about the issues
associated with abortion.

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Literary Devices
The Battle of Balaclava of the Crimean War took place on October 25, 1854 (Greenspan). Not even
two months later, Lord Alfred Tennyson published his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade
(History.com). Although the Poetry for Students author believes that the soldiers loyalty was the
most notable feature, the more important aspect was the soldiers bravery (Poetryfor Students). In
The Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson accentuates the bravery that the soldiers exhibited in
their battle through the use of literary devices such as repetition, sensory details, and epistrophe.
Poets often utilize different techniques in order to improve their writing or to make an argument. In
this case, Tennyson used repetition to emphasize the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the end of every paragraph, rode the six hundred, or something similar to it, was repeated. If
the reader ignores every other phrase and only reads the last line of each stanza, he is still able
to get a sense of how the battle progresses. When the Light Brigade begins to lose the battle, the
phrase shifts to not the six hundred, and then to left of six hundred (Tennyson). It is easy to see
from these phrases that the circumstances have changed for the soldiers. It seems like the soldiers
have no hope and will be forgotten. The last line of the poem, however, changes everything. Noble
six hundred! ; the soldiers will not be forgotten or ridiculed, rather they will be remembered and
praised for their bravery, no matter the outcome of the battle. Without this phrase being placed at
the end of every paragraph, the reader wouldn t understand that the soldiers extensive bravery was
enough for them to be remembered, even though they were unsuccessful in battle.
The Charge of the Light Brigade is full of emotion and excitement. Neither of those sensations
would have been possible without the use of literary devices. Tennyson used repetition, sensory
details, and epistrophe in order to add to the emotional effect, but more importantly to aid him in
proving the soldiers bravery. Without these literary devices, the poem

Assessment Task 1
Jessica Kuang 11CH3
Question 1: (4 marks)
Construct a timeline to summarise the development of the Periodic Table and the major
contributions made by notable scientists (up to G Seaborg) Question 2: (8 marks)
(a)The elements lithium, sodium and potassium formed one of the original triads used to show that
elements could be grouped . What scientific evidence did scientists have to justify this grouping of
elements?
Johann Dobereiner, a German chemist, suggested the grouping of elements with similar properties
into clusters of three triads. He discovered that when arranged in ascending atomic mass, in the case
of lithium, sodium and potassium, sodium s atomic mass was approximately the arithmetic mean
of lithium and potassium. There was also a correlation between the atomic numbers, (Li 3, Sodium
11, Potassium 19) which showed the mean of the lowest and highest atomic numbers equalled the
atomic number of the middle element.
(b)Identify two other triads which were identified during the early construction of the Periodic
Table.
The other two triads are sulfur, selenium and tellurium and chlorine, bromine and iodine.
(c)In 1864, John Newlands observed that the properties of the known elements varied periodically
with their atomic masses. He saw a pattern which reminded him of the musical scale and published
his findings as the law of octaves
(i)Why were atomic masses (weights), not atomic

As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. With literally no marketing budget, startups
are forced to seek the optimal and probably most basic way of seeking customers: Focus on who
they are and where they are. You can t spend millions of dollars to build your brand name and
mindshare before influencing the consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You
tweak your product until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky
rocket exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor money
as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is focused on the same
goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the existence of the startup.
We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in 2010 where
he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth. Everything they do is

My Career As A Teacher
This paper gives a background on how I developed as a professional and who was a primary mentor
in my life. It delves briefly into my past and explains how I came to be in the military, while also
explaining how a certain person was able to contribute to my professional growth. This paper
examines my life as I progress from high school student to a NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) and
a few of the challenges I had to endure.
Developing a Professional
What does being a mentor mean? In my opinion, it means teaching, guiding, and letting a person

My husband and I split up a few months after graduation and unless I was willing to give up
custody of my daughter, I would not be able to join the military. So I made other plans and
started working towards a different goal. As fate would have it however, my husband and I
reconciled, worked things out and got back together. Two weeks later I was called by my recruiter
and was told that a spot had just opened up and I could leave in just a few short days. I decided to
go for it and the rest is history.
For my first duty station, I was assigned to Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. I arrived there in May
2010 with my husband, daughter, and pregnant with my second child. Shortly thereafter I became

very supportive. Marna was one such person. She was a retired Chief Master Sergeant who had
worked in pharmacy all her career and had a wealth of experience under her belt. She became my

General William Sherman and the match to the sea
Introduction
General Sherman s contribution to the Civil War will forever be remembered in history, although
he made some miscalculations, his mistakes did nothing to his reputation unlike his brilliance in
strategizing . His military exploits went far beyond getting the attention of American military
historians; it went all the way to the shores of Europe. Military historian Basil Liddell Hart
compiled a list of the best military strategists and General Sherman was among them, along with
others like Napoleon Bonaparte, and Von Clausewitz. General Sherman s effort in this campaign

He first saw action in Florida against the Seminole Indians. However, he was not involved in the
Mexican American war like most of his contemporaries. As a result of this he quit in 1853, then
joined his brother in the banking industry.
Sherman s Military Career
During this time he was appointed to the position of superintendent for the Louisiana Military
Academy in 1859. However, after the onset of the Civil War Sherman left his post as the
Superintendent and went north where he became a Colonel in the 13th United States Infantry .
General Sherman later experienced combat at the first Battle of Bull Run, where he led a division
of General Tyler s men. Unfortunately, he lost the battle, but President Abraham Lincolnsaw his
promise and promoted him to Brigadier General on August seventh, 1861.
Before his March to the sea he had accomplished a lot, an example of this is the Atlanta campaign
that took place between May and September 1864. Together with General Grant, they believed that
they had to destroy the Confederacy s capacity for waging war. They would do this by attacking the
economic, strategic, and physiological aspects of the South to bring it to its knees. The strategies
that Sherman adopted could be compared with the scorched earth tactic that entailed destroying
everything. Although he instructed his men to only destroy infrastructure in place where guerrilla
warfare overwhelmed his army . He quickly

Women s Experience Of Postnatal Care
Statistics and data have shown that women are less satisfied with the care they receive post natal
compared to the care they receive during antenatal and throughout labour including those women
who receive caseload midwifery care (Forster et al., 2016). Thus, this assignment will focus on
some aspects of care that influence a women s experience of postnatalcare and changes that can be
implemented to improve women s satisfaction with the early post natal care they receive. In
addition, there will be a discussion about the role of the midwife in providing postnatal care that
will be more satisfying for women. The first part of this essay will discuss how women feel on the
postnatal ward, focusing on interactions with their care providers and routine care. Following will
be a discussion about the physical environment of the postnatal ward and lastly, will be a discussion
about the current length of stay in the hospital and how it may be affecting the women.
Women are much less satisfied with the care the care they received during their post partum period
compared with the antenatal, labour and birth care they receive (Forster et al., 2016). A peer

Barbarianism In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
In all cultures, there are people struggling for survival. Some are starving, some are living in
sheer poverty, some are thrown into slavery and some just cannot get their footing; but in all of
these situations there seems to be a common theme that presents itself over and over again. Many
of these people become so desperate to live they will give up their morals and give in to whatever
they can to get by. Occasionally, there is one person stronger than the rest, one able to hold onto
their morals, one that would rather die than give in to immorality. However, given certain

While on the road, in a few flashback sequences, the fate of the boy s mother is revealed. Among the
flashbacks, there was a conversation between the man and his wife after the boy has been born. The
man entreats his wife not to commit suicide. She wishes to die by her own hand however, in order
to escape what she believes is her inevitable rape and her family s inevitable murder. She wishes
that their pistol had three bullets, not only two, so that she could spare her entire family from
their gruesome fate. Throughout the conversation, the man continues to beg her to reconsider
her decision or at least wait until the morning to say goodbye to their son. After her death, the
man and the boy pack up their camp, and the boy only says, She s gone, isn t she? (McCarthy

there for her son, like a devoted parent, she chooses to leave this world out of pure fear of the
post apocalyptic event. She even goes so far as to question the existence of her husband and
newborn; yet she does not even do a small good deed as to tell her son goodbye. Instead, she
chooses to burden her husband to be the sole proprietor for their son; thus revealing her animalistic
nature. In addition, in preparation for the catastrophe, the dark nature of the boy s father is also

Legitimacy Of Anime
Legitimacy of Anime Although Japanese cartoons, known as anime, are not live action films, they
are a legitimate form of art, specifically film. Anime films contain themes relevant to societal
issues, which is depicted in compelling, riveting ways not obtainable through live action films,
which touches the audience. The film Graves of the Fireflies, directed by Isao Takahata in 1988, is
a prime example of an animefilm that provokes thought and compels emotion. Graves of the
Fireflies is an animated adaption of a semi autobiographical short story by the same name,
written by Akiyuki Nosaka in 1967. The movie is set in Kobe, Japan during the latter stages of
World War II and follows a brother and sister as the struggle to survive trying to scavenge. The
opening scene takes place a month after Japan surrendered to the United States in World War II.
The protagonist, Seita, a teenage son of a naval officer, is dying of malnourishment in a subway
concourse as people walk by him and look down on him for being homeless and raggedy. Early in
the film we can see the lack of sympathy from bystanders. The protagonist dies that night and in
spirit reunites with his sister, Setsuko, as the scene ends fireflies surround the siblings. The
following scene depicts American bombers headed to hit a target, the target happens to be Seita s

Vladimir Putin s Plea For Ethos
Plea for Ethos: Vladimir Putin You re either with us or against us. This statement was made by
Russian President Vladimir Putin in his op ed piece, A Plea for Caution from Russia printed in The
New York Times on September 11, 2013, as he discussed American foreign policy. President Putin
tries to establish he is with us , through ethos in this address to the American public. Over time
ethos, the ethical appeal, has come to be measured by four characteristics. It is by these measures:
trustworthiness, similarity, authority, and reputation, that Putin will be weighed to determine if the
audience will accept his ethos. Is Vladimir Putintrustworthy? Trust is important when trying to
reach an audience as people are more likely to listen to people they trust. Putin tries hard to
establish this trust. He even mentions the growing trust between him and the American President as
support he is trustworthy. This comes across as disingenuous as his words throughout the article
seem to drip with veiled threats that failure to back him could lead to him not backing an
American agenda. His actions themselves often appear to be in contradiction to what he asks of

Gender Impact On Class And Gender
Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society
has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves
by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large
appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of
people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In
prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take
care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of
money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with
women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid
the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one
where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like
women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and
behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and
behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different
articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause
individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important
are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden,
Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves:
Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point
towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a
certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and
Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more
traditional femininity. Hooks article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to

Essay about The Human Rights Act
The Human Rights Act The Human Rights Act in its present form, besides failing to properly
incorporate the European Convention on Human Rights, gives the United Kingdom a defective law
which puts it at the bottom of any international league table of bills of rights. The Act talks of
rights, but keeps them at arms length and has as a consequence been hesitantly applied by the
courts. Discuss.
Since 1966, Strasbourg was the final resort for British citizens to claim their rights. It was

Supremacy of Parliament was kept due to the fear that the Act would transfer too much power from
an elected Parliament to the judiciary. [3] Even though in relation to how Dicey expected that
Parliament acted in order not to abuse power in the country, acting reasonably, it still has the power
to repeal the HRA which constitutes the basic assurance of human rights in UK. In accordance with
Lord Nicholls in the case of In Re S, the Act seeks to preserve parliamentary sovereignty [and it]
maintains the constitutional boundary. On further analysis, it can be noted that Parliament can
enact any legislation that would offend the Convention without anyone being able to decline it,
which brings us, to the same conclusion as Lord Irvine, stating that the ultimate responsibility for
compliance with the Convention must be Parliament s alone [4]
If a breach of the convention occurs the court cannot interpret the provisions in a complex way (it
would be against section 3) nor can they declare that the Act is void. Nevertheless, under section 4
of the HRA, Parliament offers the courts an opportunity to make a declaration of incompatibility
whenever they find that legislation is not acting in harmony with the Convention. In the

occasions throughout the story; in the end his youthfulness got the best of him. In the first battle
Henry stayed with his unit. However, in the second battle, he ran away from the battle. From these
two extremely different reactions, it can be determined that Henry was going through internal
battles as well as external battles. In the first battle, Henry is shown as young and naive. He really
did not understand what was about to happen around him. While he was scared at first, when the
enemy started getting closer, he forgot about being scared and just started shooting. Part 2 of
chapter 5 states that He suddenly lost concern for himself, and forgot to look at a menacing fate.

Summary Of Human Rights Act 1998
Human Rights Act, 1998:
The Human Rights Act, (HRA), year 1998, gives vulnerable people who are receiving care, the
right to their own:
1.privacy
2.protection
3.involvement in decision making about the care they receive. In some cases, people s rights are
restricted due to their mental health issues and their ability to know what is the most suitable for
them. This act helps to promote anti discrimination as all people have the same rights and priorities
as each other. This act also sets out specific rules and criteria s in which vulnerable individuals
should be cared for in order to meet the act s demands and goal. For example, in a nursing home,
all residents should have the right to freedom of speech and this must be respected by everyone
in the nursing home. This act authorises and allows the Protection of Vulnerable Adults
Scheme. This scheme checks to make sure that the care workers are fit for working with
vulnerable adults in any Health and Social care sector/ setting. The Care Standards act sets
standards for a good service and support for those who are in need of them. This promotes anti
discrimination as this act makes sure that the standards of care homes and Health and Social care
services are at a good, stable level. This means that staff members will be informed, prepared and
trained about the standards and will, therefore, know that discrimination is wrong and unacceptable.

Ronald Wilson Reagan As government expands, liberty contracts (Ronald Reagan Quotes). Those
who know anything about Modern Politics in the United States know that Ronald Reagan is the
poster child and founder of today s Conservatism. Today s Conservatism is at its core a hybrid
between the Conservatism of Theodore Roosevelt and that of the Libertarianism of Thomas
Jefferson. Libertarians believe that the Central or Federal government should be as small as
possible. As shown in the opening quote from Ronald Reagan he firmly believed that to keep the
freedom entitled to us by the Bill of Rights, the People must constrict government to give them
as minimal amount of power as possible. Ronald Reagan is certainly a controversial figure in the
face of politics. Democrats despise him and Republicans try to mimic his policies on both
foreign and domestic stages. Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in a small
town named Tampico, Illinois. Ronald was born in an apartment on the second floor of a
commercial building. His parents were Nelle Clyde Reagan and Jack Reagan. Nelle was a devoted
Christian. A member of the Disciples of Christ denomination of Christianity. Most of her work

In Memory Of Wb Auden Analysis
Representations of perspectives, notions, and circumstances embody political principles and
their repercussions, often emphasising the disconnect between societies and their leaders. This
idea is particularly evident in WH Auden s poems, In Memory of WB Yeats (1939) and
September 1 1939 (1939) which portrays a Modernist s opinions on political events and
personalities while acting as vehicles for expounding political opinions. Similarly, Malala
Yousafzai s Speech to the United Nations (2013) explores the importance of free speech when
subjugated, to regain freedom. Hence, both texts offer a socio political insight into the necessity
of an unconstrained voice in breaking through unjust institutions that suppress and erode our free
will. In In Memory of WB Yeats, Auden parallels historical and political events and personalities,
using the legacy of WB Yeats to represent the necessity of powerful literature in influencing
political perspectives. He presents the poem in the form of an elegy to show his admiration of
Yeats influence despite his death as explicated in words of a dead man are modified in the guts of
the living . The juxtaposition of dead and living pronounces the power of poetry and its
timelessness. The metaphor For poetry makes nothing happen ... it survives, a way of happening, a
mouth, exemplifies the immortality of poetry and its ability to revolutionise politics through the
ideas spoken by people. Auden presents that the individual voice can shift

American Fighter Pilot Brigadier General Robin Olds Essay
Brigadier General Robin Olds Throughout military history, there have been many leaders that
can be considered either visionary or ethical. This paper will discuss how BG Robin Olds was a
visionary leader, but not a very ethical leader. From the beginning of his career, he was a
visionary in aerial combat tactics and a true believer of leading from the front. His vision of
aerial combat was beyond his years, but often fell upon deaf ears due to his flamboyant nature.
He never hesitated to say exactly what was on his mind, which is why his actions could be
considered unethical. But, his men loved him, and would follow him to hell and back. First, this

Once he took command, his innovative side took over and he immediately started to make
changes. He understood his weaknesses, and allowed his men to train him in order to make him
a better pilot. He routinely flew in the number 2 position of the formation, until his skills were
honed to perfection. During this time, pilots were assigned as flight leads based off rank. Olds
displayed intellectual humility, as a part of his critical thinking skills, to change the current
thinking of using the highest ranking individual as flight lead, versus putting the pilot with the
most experience in that position...it should be based off skill, not rank. Even being the Wing
Commander, Olds often wore a flight suit without rank, and let his lower ranking, more qualified
officers lead the mission (badass, 2012). A true sign of being a visionary and transformational
leader, Olds used the all of the 4 I s (Individualized Consideration, Intellectual Stimulation,
Inspirational Motivation, and Idealized Influence) while making these decisions, and his men
loved him for it (CF02SG, 2012, pg 22 23). He fostered inclusive environments by putting the
whole wing under the same 24 hour clock as the combat crews, and visited the support
organizations to find out the true problems and help fix them (Boyne, 2008). Now that BG Olds

Comparison Of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
During the second Red Scare in the late 1940 s and early 1950 s, American s were fearful that
communism would permeate throughout their country and eventually rule their governments and
entire lives. When Invasion of the Body Snatchers was directed by Don Siegal in 1956, he wanted
to produce a film that creatively captured the fear of McCarthyism. The movie was inspired by the
novel written by Jack Finneyin 1954, which also aimed to depict what fears society had in the 50s.
The film was recreated three more times, each with an original spin on the first movie and novel,
but still effectively capturing the attention of the audience. The primary hope was of increasing
awareness over the fear of Communism and losing one s personal autonomy to Communism while
each adaptation reflects the struggles and mindset during the time period that it was set in. Each of
these films and novel, despite their numerous differences, reflect the period that they were created
in through themes of losing one s individuality, gender roles, and paranoia. The novel that inspired
the production of Invasion of the Body Snatcherswas written in 1954 by Jack Finney titled The
Body Snatchers. Finney used this novel to convey the fact that individuality is beneficial to
humanity because if everyone is the same then there is a universal loss of identity (Sloan 183).
Finney s novel explored the loss of individuality through the main characters, Miles and Becky, and
the fears that humanity had in the

Devaux et al. (2009) noted that the involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems
have enhanced rapid diffusion, adoption, development of knowledge and technological output.
Consequently, the active involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation system has been
integral in enhancing sustainable growth in agriculture (Ojijo et al., 2013). Correspondingly, the

among actors by helping them in identifying their challenges and opportunities by building
coherence through dialogues in setting priorities (Klerkx et al., 2012b). Furthermore, the
stakeholders participation allow actors to voice their needs and concerns in the process of design

Long John Silver s Treasure Island
The character of Long John Silver, the iconic antagonist of Treasure Island, upon whom most
stereotype pirates are based, was a layered scoundrel with multiple implied motivations. He
manipulated both his crew and his enemies, but was not above switching sides if it suited his
goals. He was calm, and ever calculating, even when faced with defeat, and was clearly more
intelligent (and less alcoholic) than his fellow mutineers. A surface scan would lead one to
believe that he, like most villains, was simply motivated by greed. While this likely does have
some truth to it, it is not the entire case. A deeper probing would reveal these basic facts: First of
all, he was second in command to one of the the greatest pirates known at the time, Captain Flint
(notice the emphases on second). It was heavily implied that, because Silver was the only man
whom Flint ever feared, that the threat of Silver caused the Captain to hide his treasure, and go
into hiding. This would characterise Long John as one who was envious of simply being hired
help, and who wished to make himself the greatest, deadliest, and most plunderous pirate of all time.

Silver appeared to underestimate Jim and company to the point where he assumed they would just
surrender themselves into his custody, and expect both personal safety and a fair share of the
treasure. In previous chapters it was shown how skilled Long John was in combat. This, in
addition to his hubris, and treatment of his pirate crew gives him somewhat of a superiority
complex. This would, perhaps, suggest that he does not simply wish to be the greatest, but instead,
he already considered himself such, and desperately wished to prove

Self Esteem Leads To Success
How Self Esteem Leads to Success
The strongest factor for success is self esteem: Believing you can do it, believing you deserve it,

confidence you lose faith in yourself. Too much confidence can affect your way to successalso.
Success is being comfortable with who you are.
According to Meaghan Ramsey in her TED talk Why thinking you re ugly is bad for you she
states that About six out of ten girls are now choosing not to (do the activities that they like)
because they don t think they look good enough . If girls are choosing to give up on what they
are good at because of their appearance, they might think their whole life they are not good
enough for any of their favorite activities, or even what they always dreamed being in the future
when they were younger. She next claims that Thirty one percent, nearly one in three teenagers
are withdrawing from classroom debate. They re failing to engage in classroom debate because
they don t want to draw attention to the way they look. Teens are now being afraid of participating
in class because of what they think that other people judge them. Students shouldn t be failing a
class because of how they look, or what other people think about them. Students should be proud to

Migration of Turkic Tribes
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in the new
area. Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report
2010 The Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for
Migration. 2010). In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes
were approximately the same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in
formulation of world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The
most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration
Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first
and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic
tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate
changes and severe climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes
decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially, during the Migration Period, in 395,
Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover, some Turkic groups migrated to wide
steppes in order to find and extend their pastures. While the amount of people and cattle were
increasing, it was difficult to accommodate animals with pastures. For instance, Yuruks ( Walkers ),

which estimated to $180 and textbooks estimated to $10. It is now 2014, one century later, and the
tuition cost to go the exact universityand school is $40,594, general fee of $3,772, technology fee
of $716, and a recreation fee of $324. Once more, this does not include the expenses of residence
halls ($8,330) and the average meal plan ($4,592). It is incredulous how, not only did the tuition
increase tremendously, but now there are additional costs that had once not existed (UNIVERSITY

Also, going to college or to a university increases the likelihood of receiving a well paying job,
which is why most students attend college in the first place (Learn Liberty).
Students have obviously realized the increasing tuition and have taken action on how to prevent
their wallets being emptied. Although some young people want to attend a traditional 4 year
university and have the full college experience, some students have the option of attending a
community college which substantially has a much lower tuition price than universities. If a
student plans ahead their junior or senior year, they are able to take certain college level course
classes which can actually reduce their college years to three, saving them about 25% in direct
costs (Full Report).
Along with this, universities also have taken the action to help students not go into debt after
college. Universities have the option of reducing administrative staff. One of the drawbacks of
reducing the amount of staff is that there are now more students to teacher ratio meaning larger
classes due to a minimum amount of professors or perhaps more working hours for professors.
Also, it isn t just professors but librarians, janitors, and other staff members. Universities also have

Away from Her- Evaluative Essay
Alzheimer s A Progressive, Degenerative Disorder
Alzheimers A Progressive, Degenerative Disorder Imagine a wife and husband being married
for 44 years and having one of them not remember who the other is, or their past life together.
The film Away From Her (Egoyan, et al., 2006) shows viewers how the disease can greatly impact
your life, and how quickly it can form. The film was based off of a short story The Bear Came over
the Mountain by Alice Munro (Munro, 2013). In both works, the author and the director portray a
significant struggle between a husband and wife dealing with Alzheimer s.

But I can look again (Egoyan, et al., 2006). This quotation is meant to portray Fiona in a light
manner and show how much her brain is starting to deteriorate, and that she is aware of it. The
setting is the same in both works; Fiona s parents cottage in the hills of Canada, snow on the
ground, and a very serene view. The film (Egoyan, et al., 2006) goes through several states of
emotional stress between the couple. First being denial. Grant is in denial for most of the film. He
does not want to believe that his wife is slowly leaving him emotionally. It also hurts him that she
cannot remember much about their marriage but can remember the infidelity. He then begins to
feel some guilt because he finally realizes how much he had hurt Fiona during his time of
infidelity. In the short story (Munro, 2013) it tells you about Grants infidelity, however in the film
(Egoyan, et al., 2006) the director just eludes to the fact that there was infidelity in the marriage.
Fiona, however, does not seem to go through much denial saying, Don t worry darling, I expect I m
just losing my mind (Egoyan, et al., 2006)
Climax
The climax in the both the story(Munro, 2013) and the film (Egoyan, et al., 2006) is when Grant
comes back to Meadowlake after the thirty days and finds Fiona has forgotten all about him and
has taken up with Aubrey. Fiona cares for Aubrey as a child but

The Role Of Cybersecurity And Its Effects On The World
Cybersecurity Cybersecurity has only been around for a short time. In the short time it s been
around, it s gone from a simple application process in security, to one of the most complicated
things to get right in order to protect the internet. In the late 80 s the very first computer worm
was created by Robert Morris. He released it into the internet in the early 90 s. With it, he shut
down large portions of the internet. (Infosecurity Magazine) Back then, the internet didn t play a
large role in everyone s lives, as it does today. But with that breach, it alerted people that we needed
to come up with something to keep that from happening again, hence cybersecurity was born. Since
then, cybersecurity has only become more complicated, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First, the career requirements. The minimum requirements for this job is actually rather easy to
acquire. All it takes is experience in the field, such as coding and a very good knowledge of
computers. It doesn t require a college degree. Since ethical hacking is more about skills than
anything, so a bachelor s or master s degree in cybersecurity is unnecessary if you have appropriate
job experience. (Cyber Degrees) Since it doesn t take a college degree, it only takes about two or
four years of experience in the field to achieve this position. If you do take a college route, it ll be 4
6 years in college plus the 2 4 years of security experience. The education costs will vary, as there
are several ways to learn. Some teach themselves how to code, others use training courses on the
internet. I have also found Metasploit: A Penetration Tester s Guide, a book that is great for
beginners to pick up and learn the basic skills to help get them started in the field. Such as how to
create your own modules, or how to port your own exploits to a server s framework. (David
Kennedy) Many security companies and even individual penetration testers or network/systems
technicians will create their own labs in which they can configure and reconfigure

Emphasizing The True Meaning Of Poems By Andrew Marvell...
Kinsey Jordan
Mrs. Russler
English Honors I
February 4, 2015
Emphasizing the True Meaning of Poems Around the seventeenth century the poets Andrew
Marvell and John Donne expressed their feelings through poetry. Both John Donne, born in 1572
and Andrew Marvell, born in 1621 in England, are known for their ideas of metaphysical poetry.
Metaphysical poetry is a persuasive poem that uses a conceit. It focuses on imagery, paradoxes,
arguments, philosophy and religion. Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and John Donne s A
Valediction: Forbidding Mourning, focus on the theme of love, which was trending at that time.
Although both poems justify the importance and essence of love, the tone differs in each poem
making them distant from each other. The figurative language also makes the two poems different.
However, they both focus on the idea of Carpe Diem, enjoying the moment and not worrying about
the future. Through comparing these poems, the differences and similarities result in the true
understanding and effectiveness of the poems. In To His Coy Mistress, Andrew Marvell does not
perceive true, fervent love, but rather that time and beauty will not last. The tone of this poem is
sad, but the author seems to make it happier. There is an example shown in the first stanza;
Had we but world enough and time...we would sit down, and think which way to walk, and pass
our long love s day. (1 4) Marvell appears to be straying from the idea of Carpe Diem; stating that if

Theme Of Women In A Gun For Sale By Graham Greene
Graham Greene has written many novels in his life and has placed his experiences within his
stories. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society.
Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included
the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rock
leave Greene s female
counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they
appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s
female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the
men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocence
versus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun
for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the
corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism.
Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase
the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? If
innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil, then
none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be considered innocent because they all at one
point or throughout the entire story are acquainted with evil. However,

Essay On Hedge
TWhy to hedge?
A hedge is aimed to offset potential losses on investment of an individual or an organization as it
reduces overal economic exposure of the two previously mentioned entities by guaranteeing
favorable outcome. In other words, a hedge is used to reduce any substantial losses/gains suffered
by an individual or an organization.
Advantages and disadvantages of hedging
Advantages
The main advantage of the currency exposure hedge it significantly lowers the risk of an investment.
As in the case of any investment, if an investor makes an investment in which there are many
independent variables that are out of their control, the investor would lose money if things do not
go as they planned. A hedge is aimed to offset these losses and thereby reduce any unwanted risk.
Hedging the transaction exposure with options also offers total protection against adverse currency
moves, potential profit in the case of favorable event and the flexibility of the contract itself;
meaning it offers a right, but not the obligation to buy or sell ... Show more content on

In this case, some investors would question the benefit of speculation related to the original
investment in this way, since there is always a possibility that different investment positions of the
same entity would offset themselves without any hedging, thus making the latter an unnecessary
expenditure. Two major costs constitute the disadvantage of hedging position: the cost of premium,
especialy with no major fluctuations on the market, and the opportunity cost if the option is
cancelled for a new, more beneficial purchase. The one and only risk as such associated with an
interest rate option is the premium, that is, the price paid for obtaining the right to buy of sell
foreign currency at specified

King Tut Dbq
On November 4, 1922 Howard Carter discovered King Tutankhamun s tomb in Egypt. Howard
Carter spent almost his whole life looking for King Tut s tomb and when he found it he was over

and showed us what king tut s reign was like while he was king.
When howard carter discovered king tut s tomb it was a very important discovery because it
allowed archeologists to learn more about people who lived during king tut s time. In Brad
Yurgens article King Tut is Best he wrote that From an archaeological standpoint, I think that the
discovery of King Tutankhamen s tomb is the most important and valuable discovery I think that
this is because of the knowledge gained from all of the artifacts recovered from the site, (Source

Egyptians would bury their dead with treasures like gold and other things that they believed that
they could use in the afterlife. Egyptians also mummified the people so that they could preserve
their bodies. Nowadays people just have a funeral or cremate the person who died, because they
know that they can t take their things with them once they die. Egyptians put everything that they
thought would be useful for that person in their afterlife into their burial chamber with them.
King Tut s tomb helped us to see what his reign was like. King tut tried to have children with his
wife Ankhesenamun but they all died right after they were born so eventually him and his wife
gave up on the idea to have have children. Since they couldn t have kids they had heirs, who
would eventually inherit their money like a child would if their parents died. King Tut s tomb has

Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks
Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In his analysis of
companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins identifies the role of a Level 5 leader
as instrumental in the transformation. Collins identifies this type of leader as an individual who
blends extreme personal humility with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and
fearless, these leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal
glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are intensely driven
towards building a successful company that is capable of continuing its success in their absence.
In his analysis of companies, he identified that all good companies that became great had Level 5
leaders at the help when they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their
successors such that the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders
who are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5 leaders are
not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins 26). Rather, they are
willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and successors. Under egocentric leaders,
Collins noted that companies would achieve particularly strong growth but they would fall apart
immediately after the leader s exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by
finding the best people and creating a

High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great...
6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What
drawbacks does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by
extension high tech companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve
its productivity (output per labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis
on high tech companies present possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills
required by the high tech industry and the actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of
the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of
the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects
the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has dire consequences. As evidenced by the
recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the US presidential candidate Donald
Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or disillusioned with the economy, it
can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions that can hurt the general
economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The political uncertainty brought
about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the top risk facing UK
businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms of both
reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another

Religious Characters in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
*Works Cited Not Included
When thinking of the figures in the church, they are thought to be loyal, respectful, giving, and
dedicated. Sadly to say this, but not all figures follow that description. In
The Canterbury Tales , Chaucer shows the corruption of the church in the medieval period through
some of his characters, particularly through the Nun, the Monk, and the Friar. Yet, Chaucer does
show one character, the Parson, as goodness and holiness in the church. Nuns are member of a
religious order for women, living in a convent under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Their
orders vary in the stipulations of the vows, some being permanent, and others only for ... Show

One positive point is that she does have a clean mouth and watches what she says. Monks have
abandoned the world for religious reasons and devote their lives, either separately or in a
community, to spiritual perfection. The vows of celibacy, poverty, and obedience under which
they live, are termed the religious counsels. A person bound by such vows is known as a religious.
Chaucer s Monk s sport was hunting. The Rule of good Saint Benet or Saint
Maur (Prologue, 177) says hunters are not holy men (Prologue, 182). He does not keep to his
studies, but instead would rather be doing labor. In addition, he holds worldly possessions, such as
his wrought gold cunningly fashioned pin (Prologue,
200), which shows that he has money. Friars differ from monks, in that the monk was attached to a
specific community within which he led a withdrawn life, having no direct contact with the secular
world.
Friars, on the other hand, belonged to no particular monastic house, but to a general order and
worked as an individual in the non religious world. Thus, friars and monks are not on synonymous
terms. Friars are members of certain religious orders who practice the principles of monastic life
and devote themselves to the service of humanity in the secular world.
Originally, their rules forbid holding either community or personal property. The resulting
dependence of friars on voluntary

How The French View The Natives In Black Robe
Black Robe is a film that greatly exemplifies the views the Natives and the French held of one
another during the 1600s. Both groups help impressions of each other that influenced how they
interacted together. During the Native and French encounters in Black Robe, it was apparent that
Natives viewed the French as incompetent, weak, but also interesting; the French had their own
impressions that the Natives were savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that
one can see the interest they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with
the Natives sitting in a church like building watching a clock. The Algonquins were enticed with
the mechanism and asked the French questions about it. They were perplexed... Show more content

From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually linked to the
word savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards the beginning, before
Father Laforgue and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission, two men are talking to one another
about how they would not go on such a mission with savages. Another example of this reference
is near the end of the film when Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and
even Father Jerome refers to the ailing Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father
Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents the French s view that Natives were in need of
salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the film was to convert or save the Natives
(the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in Christianity. A great example of this is
during the scene of Chomina s death. Even as he is dying, Father Laforgue begs him to allow
himself to be baptized and saved in order to attain Christian paradise. Chomina s response to this
no, because he says his family will not be there. Father Laforgue does eventually achieve his
mission to convert the Natives to Christianity in the Huron village at the end of the film, but he
does so with a different mindset after all he had been through with Daniel and the

  • 3. Hipster Vs Geek Research Paper Hipster vs. Geek If you re down town Pukekohe and see a bearded guy running around wearing scruffy clothes... No. He is not homeless he s a hipster. That s right. I said hipster. They are the equivalent of the emos from our parent s generations and the growing craze of ours. A person who follows the latest trends and fashions. Is what us youngens describe hipsters as. Hipsters are the ones that whenever the next craze arrives, are the first to say I liked that before it was cool . Everything about a hipster has been perfectly crafted to give off an illusion that they just don t care. Hipsters tend to find this century exclusively lame. This is why they are bringing back into style vintage, retro clothing, in hopes the past will repeat itself.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be as short as a month before the next trend makes an appearance, they say so long to the previous trend because it was so last month . Art and alternative music are the only things that stick around. Hipsters recognize veganism, steam punk, beard art, Starbucks, cronuts, etc. as blasts from the past instead of pleasants from the presents. If you had even the slightest interest in any of the mentioned trends then gasp... You could have hipster fever. People have gotten this strange idea that all hipsters are opinionated wannabes that will rant on and on about, how press coffee is sooo much better. I mean of course you ll have the odd few, but that s the same for every social group. I ve meet geeks that will go on and on about how to correctly pronounce something in Klingon, nerds that still debate if it s gif or jif, even band nerds who argue the merits of the oboe over the flute. Don t judge the whole group for the actions of the odd few. It s not cool ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Police Incident Essay This incident occurred in the City of Auburn, County of King, Washington; On 8 11 2017 at approximately 1000 hrs I was on routine patrol, in a fully marked Auburn PD patrol vehicle, in the parking lot of the Muckelshoot Casino at 2402 Auburn Way S. I often patrol this parking lot as it is a high crime area and I have made many arrest related to stolen vehicles and illegal narcotics. On this date I was on the eastside of the main parking lot, when I drove by a blue Dodge Charger, WA/BEP1426. I observed that the vehiclewas occupied by a female, who was sitting in the front passenger sit, and a male who was sitting in the driver seat. I noticed that the male appeared to be passed out. Resendiz stated that she did. I walked to the passenger side of the vehicle and asked Resendiz to step out of the vehicle. At the time, Resendiz still had a large purse on her lap. As she exited the vehicle she placed the purse of the floorboard of the vehicle. As I placed Resendiz in handcuffs per my training, Sgt Hopper asked the male to hand him the purse, as at the time of the arrest Resendiz was in possession of the purse. The male handed the purse to Sgt Hopper. I advised Resendiz of her Miranda Rights, which I read from a pre printed card. Resendiz stated that she understood her rights and agreed to speak with me. Officer Blake, who had arrived on scene to assist, spoke with the male and asked him for his name. The male provided his name as Christian Morales. Officer Blake checked Morales through WACIC/NCIC. The return indicated that Morales had an active warrant for his arrest. The warrant was active through SO Seattle for Theft 3rd (C17024915). Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Officer Blake asked Morales to step out of the vehicle, where he placed him in handcuffs, per his training. Officer Blake also advised Morales of his Miranda Rights. Both Morales and Resendiz stated that they did not have IDs, therefore both were confirmed with DOL photos. • 5. King Lear Tragic Hero Essay A tragic hero is said to be an imperfect character of noble stature, a character with a downfall caused by an error of judgement which is not deserved, and a self realization from the downfall. King Lear from the play King Lear fits this description of a tragic hero. King Lear is a tragic play written by Shakespeare. King Lear is depicted as a tragic herobecause of his high status, his downfall which was caused by himself, and his realization from his downfall. King Lear is portrayed as a tragic hero partially because of his imperfectness. Throughout the play, King Lear makes many mistakes, which show his imperfections. His mistakes eventually led to his insanity. He does not even want ot go insane. He says, O, let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven keep me in temper: I would not be mad! (I v 1 2). In the end of the play, Lear s insanity leads to his demise. When he meets Cordelia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aristotle believes that a tragic hero s downfall is his/her own fault. He also believes that this decision was made by choice and not by force. King Lear truly fits this description. King Lear s downfall was dividing his land (and his crown) to his three daughters out of narcissism. Lear wanted his daughters to tell him how much they loved him. He did this by choice, not knowing how evil two of his daughters, Goneril and Regan, really were and how they did not actually love him. His obliviousness was his flaw and trusted his daughters too much. However, King Lear disowned his youngest daughter, Cordelia, even though she was the one who love him most. Lear is outraged when she does not tell him how much she loves him. King Lear says Ingratitude, thou marble hearted fiend, more hideous when thou show st thee in a child than the sea monster! (I iv 4 6). He mistook her honesty for lack of respect, which partially led to his downfall as well. By the end of the play, Lear s mistakes caused him to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. What Is The Poem Hunting Snake And Pike Explore the ways in which the poem Hunting Snake and Pike explore the complex representation of each animal In the poems Hunting Snake by Judith Wright and Pike by Ted Hughes, both the poets explore the ideas of fear and unfamiliar encounters with predators in each of their own domains. Snakes are animals that place fear into many people although the poem Hunting Snake explores the beauty and admiration of an apex predator of the bush. Although a Pike is a fish, Ted Hughes still fears the predator. Using descriptive words to detail the predator, horrifying imagery and extended metaphors he describes a fearful creature. In this essay I will answer and explore the ways that these poems demonstrate a complex representation of two respected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hughes goes into depth with detail to create a scary image that makes us feel threatened and wary of this predator. He achieves this by using the quotes killers from the egg and detailed examples of cannibalism. This message is communicated through the behavior of the fish. It also goes into detail about how the fish stays top of the food chain. Hughes expresses these points using personification, horrifying imagery, similes and repetition to emphasis key strong words Hughes explanations are due to his past experiences, situations he has found himself in and his passion for fishing. In conclusion, I believe that I have expressed and explored the complex representations of each animal and that I have supported my arguments that Hunting Snake is a poem about Indigenous Australians rights and societies fear of over commitment and that Pike represents peoples fear of the unknown and the survival of the fittest. Not even two months later, Lord Alfred Tennyson published his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade (History.com). Although the Poetry for Students author believes that the soldiers loyalty was the most notable feature, the more important aspect was the soldiers bravery (Poetryfor Students). When the Light Brigade begins to lose the battle, the phrase shifts to not the six hundred, and then to left of six hundred (Tennyson). It is easy to see from these phrases that the circumstances have changed for the soldiers. It seems like the soldiers have no hope and will be forgotten. The last line of the poem, however, changes everything. Noble six hundred! ; the soldiers will not be forgotten or ridiculed, rather they will be remembered and praised for their bravery, no matter the outcome of the battle. Without this phrase being placed at the end of every paragraph, the reader wouldn t understand that the soldiers extensive bravery was enough for them to be remembered, even though they were unsuccessful in battle. The Charge of the Light Brigade is full of emotion and excitement. Neither of those sensations would have been possible without the use of literary devices. Tennyson used repetition, sensory details, and epistrophe in order to add to the emotional effect, but more importantly to aid him in proving the soldiers bravery. Preliminary Chemistry Assessment Task 1 Jessica Kuang 11CH3 Question 1: (4 marks) Construct a timeline to summarise the development of the Periodic Table and the major contributions made by notable scientists (up to G Seaborg) Question 2: (8 marks) (a)The elements lithium, sodium and potassium formed one of the original triads used to show that elements could be grouped . What scientific evidence did scientists have to justify this grouping of elements? Johann Dobereiner, a German chemist, suggested the grouping of elements with similar properties into clusters of three triads. He discovered that when arranged in ascending atomic mass, in the case of lithium, sodium and potassium, sodium s atomic mass was approximately the arithmetic mean of lithium and potassium. There was also a correlation between the atomic numbers, (Li 3, Sodium 11, Potassium 19) which showed the mean of the lowest and highest atomic numbers equalled the atomic number of the middle element. (b)Identify two other triads which were identified during the early construction of the Periodic Table. The other two triads are sulfur, selenium and tellurium and chlorine, bromine and iodine. (c)In 1864, John Newlands observed that the properties of the known elements varied periodically with their atomic masses. Many of these people become so desperate to live they will give up their morals and give in to whatever they can to get by. Occasionally, there is one person stronger than the rest, one able to hold onto their morals, one that would rather die than give in to immorality. Trust is important when trying to reach an audience as people are more likely to listen to people they trust. Putin tries hard to establish this trust. • 20. Gender Impact On Class And Gender Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Summary Of Human Rights Act 1998 Human Rights Act, 1998: The Human Rights Act, (HRA), year 1998, gives vulnerable people who are receiving care, the right to their own: 1.privacy 2.protection 3.involvement in decision making about the care they receive. In some cases, people s rights are restricted due to their mental health issues and their ability to know what is the most suitable for them. This act helps to promote anti discrimination as all people have the same rights and priorities as each other. This act also sets out specific rules and criteria s in which vulnerable individuals should be cared for in order to meet the act s demands and goal. For example, in a nursing home, all residents should have the right to freedom of speech and this must be respected by everyone in the nursing home. This act authorises and allows the Protection of Vulnerable Adults Scheme. This scheme checks to make sure that the care workers are fit for working with vulnerable adults in any Health and Social care sector/ setting. The Care Standards act sets standards for a good service and support for those who are in need of them. This promotes anti discrimination as this act makes sure that the standards of care homes and Health and Social care services are at a good, stable level. This means that staff members will be informed, prepared and trained about the standards and will, therefore, know that discrimination is wrong and unacceptable. In Memory Of Wb Auden Analysis Representations of perspectives, notions, and circumstances embody political principles and their repercussions, often emphasising the disconnect between societies and their leaders. This idea is particularly evident in WH Auden s poems, In Memory of WB Yeats (1939) and September 1 1939 (1939) which portrays a Modernist s opinions on political events and personalities while acting as vehicles for expounding political opinions. Similarly, Malala Yousafzai s Speech to the United Nations (2013) explores the importance of free speech when subjugated, to regain freedom. Hence, both texts offer a socio political insight into the necessity of an unconstrained voice in breaking through unjust institutions that suppress and erode our free will. In In Memory of WB Yeats, Auden parallels historical and political events and personalities, using the legacy of WB Yeats to represent the necessity of powerful literature in influencing political perspectives. He presents the poem in the form of an elegy to show his admiration of Yeats influence despite his death as explicated in words of a dead man are modified in the guts of the living . The movie was inspired by the novel written by Jack Finneyin 1954, which also aimed to depict what fears society had in the 50s. The film was recreated three more times, each with an original spin on the first movie and novel, but still effectively capturing the attention of the audience. The primary hope was of increasing awareness over the fear of Communism and losing one s personal autonomy to Communism while each adaptation reflects the struggles and mindset during the time period that it was set in. Each of these films and novel, despite their numerous differences, reflect the period that they were created in through themes of losing one s individuality, gender roles, and paranoia. The novel that inspired the production of Invasion of the Body Snatcherswas written in 1954 by Jack Finney titled The Body Snatchers. Finney used this novel to convey the fact that individuality is beneficial to humanity because if everyone is the same then there is a universal loss of identity (Sloan 183). • 34. Long John Silver s Treasure Island The character of Long John Silver, the iconic antagonist of Treasure Island, upon whom most stereotype pirates are based, was a layered scoundrel with multiple implied motivations. He manipulated both his crew and his enemies, but was not above switching sides if it suited his goals. He was calm, and ever calculating, even when faced with defeat, and was clearly more intelligent (and less alcoholic) than his fellow mutineers. A surface scan would lead one to believe that he, like most villains, was simply motivated by greed. While this likely does have some truth to it, it is not the entire case. A deeper probing would reveal these basic facts: First of all, he was second in command to one of the the greatest pirates known at the time, Captain Flint (notice the emphases on second). It was heavily implied that, because Silver was the only man whom Flint ever feared, that the threat of Silver caused the Captain to hide his treasure, and go into hiding. This would characterise Long John as one who was envious of simply being hired help, and who wished to make himself the greatest, deadliest, and most plunderous pirate of all time. ... The most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Kinsey Jordan Mrs. Russler English Honors I February 4, 2015 Emphasizing the True Meaning of Poems Around the seventeenth century the poets Andrew Marvell and John Donne expressed their feelings through poetry. Both John Donne, born in 1572 and Andrew Marvell, born in 1621 in England, are known for their ideas of metaphysical poetry. Metaphysical poetry is a persuasive poem that uses a conceit. It focuses on imagery, paradoxes, arguments, philosophy and religion. Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress and John Donne s A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning, focus on the theme of love, which was trending at that time. Although both poems justify the importance and essence of love, the tone differs in each poem making them distant from each other. The figurative language also makes the two poems different. However, they both focus on the idea of Carpe Diem, enjoying the moment and not worrying about the future. Through comparing these poems, the differences and similarities result in the true understanding and effectiveness of the poems. In To His Coy Mistress, Andrew Marvell does not perceive true, fervent love, but rather that time and beauty will not last. The tone of this poem is sad, but the author seems to make it happier. There is an example shown in the first stanza; Had we but world enough and time...we would sit down, and think which way to walk, and pass our long love s day. • 49. Theme Of Women In A Gun For Sale By Graham Greene Graham Greene has written many novels in his life and has placed his experiences within his stories. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rock leave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocence versus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism. Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? Nowadays people just have a funeral or cremate the person who died, because they know that they can t take their things with them once they die. Egyptians put everything that they thought would be useful for that person in their afterlife into their burial chamber with them. King Tut s tomb helped us to see what his reign was like. King tut tried to have children with his wife Ankhesenamun but they all died right after they were born so eventually him and his wife gave up on the idea to have have children. Since they couldn t have kids they had heirs, who would eventually inherit their money like a child would if their parents died. • 53. Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In his analysis of companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins identifies the role of a Level 5 leader as instrumental in the transformation. Collins identifies this type of leader as an individual who blends extreme personal humility with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and fearless, these leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are intensely driven towards building a successful company that is capable of continuing its success in their absence. In his analysis of companies, he identified that all good companies that became great had Level 5 leaders at the help when they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their successors such that the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders who are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5 leaders are not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins 26). Rather, they are willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and successors. Under egocentric leaders, Collins noted that companies would achieve particularly strong growth but they would fall apart immediately after the leader s exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by finding the best people and creating a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great... 6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What drawbacks does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by extension high tech companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve its productivity (output per labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis on high tech companies present possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills required by the high tech industry and the actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has dire consequences. As evidenced by the recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the US presidential candidate Donald Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or disillusioned with the economy, it can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions that can hurt the general economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The political uncertainty brought about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the top risk facing UK businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms of both reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe this because she has more experience, is determined to end segregation, and shows a lot of maturity. Some say Claudette Colvin os the best choice for the representative of the bus boycott but I think otherwise. • 58. Religious Characters in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer... Religious Characters in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer *Works Cited Not Included When thinking of the figures in the church, they are thought to be loyal, respectful, giving, and dedicated. Sadly to say this, but not all figures follow that description. In The Canterbury Tales , Chaucer shows the corruption of the church in the medieval period through some of his characters, particularly through the Nun, the Monk, and the Friar. Yet, Chaucer does show one character, the Parson, as goodness and holiness in the church. Nuns are member of a religious order for women, living in a convent under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Their orders vary in the stipulations of the vows, some being permanent, and others only for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One positive point is that she does have a clean mouth and watches what she says. Monks have abandoned the world for religious reasons and devote their lives, either separately or in a community, to spiritual perfection. The vows of celibacy, poverty, and obedience under which they live, are termed the religious counsels. A person bound by such vows is known as a religious. Chaucer s Monk s sport was hunting. The Rule of good Saint Benet or Saint Maur (Prologue, 177) says hunters are not holy men (Prologue, 182). He does not keep to his studies, but instead would rather be doing labor. In addition, he holds worldly possessions, such as his wrought gold cunningly fashioned pin (Prologue, 200), which shows that he has money. Friars differ from monks, in that the monk was attached to a specific community within which he led a withdrawn life, having no direct contact with the secular world. Friars, on the other hand, belonged to no particular monastic house, but to a general order and worked as an individual in the non religious world. Thus, friars and monks are not on synonymous terms. Friars are members of certain religious orders who practice the principles of monastic life and devote themselves to the service of humanity in the secular world. Originally, their rules forbid holding either community or personal property. The resulting dependence of friars on voluntary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. How The French View The Natives In Black Robe Black Robe is a film that greatly exemplifies the views the Natives and the French held of one another during the 1600s. Both groups help impressions of each other that influenced how they interacted together. During the Native and French encounters in Black Robe, it was apparent that Natives viewed the French as incompetent, weak, but also interesting; the French had their own impressions that the Natives were savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that one can see the interest they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with the Natives sitting in a church like building watching a clock. The Algonquins were enticed with the mechanism and asked the French questions about it. They were perplexed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually linked to the word savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards the beginning, before Father Laforgue and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission, two men are talking to one another about how they would not go on such a mission with savages. Another example of this reference is near the end of the film when Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even Father Jerome refers to the ailing Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents the French s view that Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the film was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in Christianity. A great example of this is during the scene of Chomina s death. Even as he is dying, Father Laforgue begs him to allow himself to be baptized and saved in order to attain Christian paradise. Chomina s response to this no, because he says his family will not be there. Father Laforgue does eventually achieve his mission to convert the Natives to Christianity in the Huron village at the end of the film, but he does so with a different mindset after all he had been through with Daniel and the ...
