The Department of Health & Human Services in Australia had lost its "digital mojo" but was able to get it back by adopting a platform and agile approach. They developed over 15 digital systems using this approach, including systems for client incident management, emergency assistance payments, housing applications, and more. By using platforms and APIs, they were able to build these systems faster, with less risk, and in a more sustainable way. This platform and agile approach helped the department boost its productivity in digital transformation efforts.

• This is all about boosting the productivity of digital transformation activities
• Platforms enable enterprise-grade agile – better, faster, less risky, more sustainable
• PaaS and APIs (finally) are making SOA a reality … and empowering in-house teams
• Use-case-by-use-case contestability between platforms is the new procurement logic
• For vendors, this is now a Game of Platforms. The winner will be decided one-use-
case-at-a-time - not by big application tenders and mega deals
• Every new system is a ticket to start, or to continue, the Game of Platforms …
