Planning my shotsIn order to plan my shots, I decided to create a storyboard so I can get all my ideas down on page. The purpose of this is so I am planned for every filming session I do
The very start of my video, I would like to have the camera panning around the trees in the park, and eventually reach my artist leaning up against a tree. I will set this scene by starting off with an establishing shot.
There will then be a straight in close up shot of my artist’s face. The big difference in shot changes will immediately give the video a harsh edge, and the audience would know that something bad has happened to the girl.
Lily will take a necklace out of her pocket and look at this. The audience would wonder what the significance of the necklace is. There will be a point of view shot of the necklace in her hand, this would give a personal perspective and make the audience feel like they are involved.
Lily will then sigh with a medium close up shot, so the audience can clearly see her facial expression.
The next shot she will drop the necklace in the grass, with a medium long shot. The medium long shot is so the audience can see her body language (which wll be slumped) and facial expression.
there will then be a very quick shot of the necklace in the grass, as my artist walks away in the background. The audience would immediately know that my artist has lost a lover. This will be when the lyrics start. I will have a long shot of Lily walking down the path in the park. She will be miming the words. I chose a long shot because I want to establish the scene as well as show my character’s costume clearly. Throughout these shots, they will be moving slightly back to track her movement, this makes the shots more interesting
The next line is “every time I have to watch other people kissing”. I will take this line literally and have a couple walking past her , this will be a medium long shot so we can see that they are a couple by the way they are holding hands.
