This document discusses the National Gallery's efforts to digitize its collection and make high-quality images freely available online through a partnership with Google. It explores how the project aimed to open up access to art globally and allow new stories to be told. While challenges emerged around choosing works and capturing the full experience of viewing art, it assessed whether digitization helped further the Gallery's mission of sharing its collection as widely as possible.
