Packages once, use anywhere. Pkgsrc is a package management system that builds software for many operating systems including NetBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris and more. The past year saw pkgsrc gain support for new platforms like Haiku and packages like PostgreSQL 9.0 and Ruby 1.9 while removing older versions. Work also focused on infrastructure changes and addressing issues like compatibility problems and network fetching errors.
OpenWrt is a Linux distribution for embedded systems that runs on many routers and networking devices today. In this session we'll talk about OpenWrt's origins, architecture and get down to building apps for the platform.
Along the way we will touch on some basic firmware concepts and at last present the final working OpenWrt router and its capabilities.

Kernel Recipes 2013 - Viewing real time ltt trace using gtkwaveAnne Nicolas
This presentation will explain how to use some ltt to be viewd in gtkwave, a graphical visualization tool, developped by the Parrot team.
It will also explain why this tool was developed, review some of the problems that have been analyzed using these traces. It will finally end up on the ongoing integration with LTTng 2.x.

Emerging Persistent Memory Hardware and ZUFS - PM-based File Systems in User ...Kernel TLV
In this talk, Dr. Amit Golander looks into emerging PM/NVDIMM devices, the value they bring to applications and most importantly how they revolutionize the storage stack.
In the second part, Boaz Harrosh and Shachar Sharon dive into new opportunities to develop memory-based filesystems in user space, leveraging a new open source project called ZUFS. ZUFS was presented in the last Linux Plumbers conference and unlike FUSE it focuses on delivering low latency and zero copy.
Dr. Amit Golander was the CTO of Plexistor, which developed the first enterprise-grade PM-based file system, and which was acquired earlier this year by NetApp.
Boaz Harrosh and Shachar Sharon are ZUFS maintainers and longtime Storage and Linux veterans.
Dima Krasner talks about FUSE, Filesystem in Userspace, its pros and cons, usage, tips and tricks, and more.
Dima is a senior developer at Sam Seamless Network.
(auto)Installing BSD Systems
The auto-installation methods you can use to set BSD operating systems up and running
-----
After more than a decade in touch with systems like FreeBSD, not by just consuming them as an end-user but also by working as a sysadmin or by developing 'BSD Powered' solutions, you might fall into pitfalls by not easily finding a way to fully automate their installations. The good news: it's possible and it's not as complicated as you might think!
Today's needs regarding automating things like an O.S. installation can save you a lot of time; Kickstart or Preseed files are not the only ways of doing it. One can even combine or expand it all to add patching and updating routines into the game.
Here we are not talking about a one-click solution or something like querying an API endpoint to provide you with a shiny virtual machine; no. The main idea behind this talk is to present you with a tool-set and ways of (auto)installing your machines, let's say, using a NetBSD operating system; be it virtual, or not.
Inspired by talks like the ones showing how OpenBSD Amsterdam sets its virtual machines up, we get together and share thoughts, ideas and setups to get DHCP, iPXE and diskless systems in our favor to set our infrastructure up and running.
Concerned about the first boot and keeping up with services' configurations and consistencies, we also talk about getting Puppet to watch it for you. Considering plain text passwords no one wishes to host in a Git repository, EYAML to the rescue!

The Linux Block Layer - Built for Fast StorageKernel TLV
The arrival of flash storage introduced a radical change in performance profiles of direct attached devices. At the time, it was obvious that Linux I/O stack needed to be redesigned in order to support devices capable of millions of IOPs, and with extremely low latency.
In this talk we revisit the changes the Linux block layer in the
last decade or so, that made it what it is today - a performant, scalable, robust and NUMA-aware subsystem. In addition, we cover the new NVMe over Fabrics support in Linux.

0x01 - Newton's Third Law: Static vs. Dynamic AbusersOWASP Beja
f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.
