2. Strengths
From the feedback I received from my pitch there were several
strengths with both the content of the pitch and the presentation.
One of the most common strengths that was mentioned was my
primary research. A lot of the comments included ‘’good primary
research.
Furthermore, another common comment I received was that my
knowledge of the topic was good, therefore that would help me in
terms of my structure and people featuring in the documentary.
Another recurring strength I received in my feedback was the fact
that the topic was interesting, and would be exciting to watch if put
together well.
Lastly, several of my classmates stated that my analysis of similar
documentaries was impressive and very detailed.
3. Weaknesses
One of the recurring weaknesses stated in my feedback was
that I didn’t include enough content information. However due
to the limited time we had to pitch, along with the fact that I
had a large amount of information to include, that is the
reason why I didn’t include all of my planned content in the
pitch.
Along with the content, the structure was another weakness in
which was mentioned during my feedback. However, the
structure was not included due to the fact that at this point I
didn’t hear back from several recipients in which I planned to
interview, therefore I couldn't include it in the pitch.
The last weakness that was stated in my feedback was the fact
that I planned to not include vox pops in my documentary.
This decision was made due to the fact that Vox pops are not
a convention which is often included in documentaries.
Furthermore because I am including two interviews in my
documentary I didn’t think it was appropriate to include vox
pops as well.
4. Opportunities
The most recurring opportunity stated in my feedback was that
I have now earned the chance to break a world record. This
was mentioned by everyone during my pitch.
Another opportunity I have is that my documentary is unique
due to the fact that not many documentary makers have
made a film on this subject, let alone break a world record
whilst making the documentary.
5. Threats
Although there were several strengths and opportunities, there
were some threats in regard to making this documentary.
One recurring threat mentioned was that I might be hard to
interview Ashrita Furman due to the fact that he has an
extremely busy schedule. However I did plan ahead as I
have set up back up people to interview (Sharran Alexander).
As I did plan to break an eating record, one of my classmates
stated that I might get sick, depending on what food I was
eating. Although this is true, the record I plan to break my not
be an eating challenge.
Lastly, yet the most important threat was whether if I actually
had a chance to break a record. Getting an adjudicator to
from Guinness World Records would be difficult due to the
fact that submitting your request form can take up to 9
months to process.
