Outline of Idea
Client: Cinema City. I will personally be
working with Guy and Milly of Cinema
City.
Plot: This takes place in the perspective
of a cinephile who wants to be a
filmmaker. He watches a film by a small
production group and then watches the
following behind-the-scenes video for it.
He then reads books on production,
ranging from production design to
camerawork to autobiographies of
famous directors. He discovers the film
club on the internet and goes to the John
Hurt Centre to check it out. He then
daydreams of being part of a production
and then winning an award.
Visuals
A lot of the initial focus will be on the
footage taken. There may be text across
the screen but that is just a possibility.
As the piece progresses, the focus will
shift more from the main character to
the artefacts in the John Hurt Centre and
Cinema City’s identity. There will be
infographics at the end regarding contact
details for the Centre. There will be a
voiceover that will explore the character
thoughts in depth and will describe
everything that’s going on.
Youth Film Club Proposal
By Rahim Rahat
Target Audience
The audience for the Film Club is anyone
between the ages of 16-25. They
specifically want aspiring filmmakers to
join but it is open to anyone who enjoys
films. The demographic that I have
identified would be most suited to this is
the B/C1 demographic, because they
naturally enjoy analysis far more than
someone in a lower demographic. Since
filmmaking is all about interpretation and
understanding production, it will be far
more appealing to the higher
demographics.
Distribution
I plan to distribute the piece through the
Cinema City website and through their
social media as this is the easiest and most
effective way to gain feedback from the
target audience as they will most likely use
social media more than anyone older but
will be more interested than anyone
younger. I’m also entertaining the idea of
playing the piece before every screening
Cinema City does, as this is the most
effective way of exhibiting the product in
front of the target audience. It will also
open the mind of someone to see that
Cinema City isn’t just about the viewing
experience.
Feedback
Feedback is easy to get for this target
audience. If social media is utilized
properly (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
mainly) then an audience will be attracted
quite naturally. Also, anyone passionate
about someone will comment back anything
they feel is necessary, so social media will
be the platform focused on gaining
feedback.
