1. Pitch Evaluation
My pitch went well overall as I achieved the maximum grade of a merit, I maintained solid
eye contact throughout the pitch and I kept my PowerPoint quite basic and it didn’t contain
much information because I had more to explain to the panel, I mainly did this so I didn’t
have much to read from it just gave me a brief idea of what to talk about and I expanded on
topics from there. I made sure to speak clearly and show my ideas in full detail to the panel.
As for what didn’t go so well, it was more my ideas and I had targets for these rather than
the pitch. My first idea needs a backstory as it isn’t very detailed why the boy ran away in
the first place. Idea could be hard to film but aside from that it was good. I think as well I
stuttered quite a lot using filling words when I had nothing to say, it got better throughout
the pitch but I think I was nervous and at the start I was saying things like ‘uhm’ and
stuttering every few words. Towards the end it got a lot better though.
The panel said they liked both my ideas, they preferred the first idea as it would be easier to
add what they thought was missing and will be a lot easier for me to film. The panel liked
that my 2nd idea was linked to mental health but they said it would be difficult to filmand
adding dialogue would be a good idea.
I think I would reorganise my presentation because I was explaining things about my films
and ideas without showing the panel what my ideas were, I was talking about characters
and techniques before my actual story line which was a big problem because the panel
wasn’t always fully getting what I was saying.
I think I will be taking forward my 1st idea, although I thought my 2nd idea was better in a lot
of aspects but the panel said they thought it would be more difficult to film, I will probably
be changing my 1st idea slightly but it is my final choice.
