Deception In The Inferno And Boccaccio s The Deccameron
The theme of lying and deception reoccur frequently throughout Dante s, The Inferno and Boccaccio
s, The Decameron. In Dante s, The Inferno we meet Geryon, a monster who leads Dante and Virgil
into the eighth circle of hell. Dante believes that committing fraud and deception are the worst sin s
and he illustrates that through Geryons physical traits, and where Geryon leads them, Malebolge. In
Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, Dante further illustrates the themes of lies and deception by the
sinners he meets and the stories he is told. The themes of lies and deception are prevalent not only
through the Inferno but, also through Boccaccio s, The Decameron. Throughout The Decameron,
Boccaccio uses lies and deception to build his hero s throughout the stories. The first story takes the
theme of lies and deception and shows them through the character, Ciappelletto. Ciappelletto lies his
way to heaven and ends up being praised by a city upon death, although his whole life he has been a
sinner. Boccaccio often uses lies and deception to lead the characters to heaven, compared to Dante
who sees how lies and deception have led the characters to hell. Throughout both texts the theme of
lies and deception are prevalent and play a significant role in both stories. In Dante s, The Inferno, lies
and deception are represented strongly through the monster Geryon. Geryon has many deceiving
characteristics that represent lying and fraud. Dante describes Geryon as, His face is appealing like
that of an honest man, but his body end in a scorpion like stinger. (Dante 223) Geryon has the face of
an innocent man, which represents your typical person committing fraud, like we see in big business
today. His scorpion like tail represents the downside to these businessmen because even though they
look good at first, they are going to come back and sting you, by committing fraud against you.
Geryon takes Vigil and Dante from the seventh circle of hell into the final circle of hell, Malebolge. In
Malebolge, Dante and Virgil meet many sinners who have committed the act of fraud, all of the
sinners are punished in unique ways depending on what type of fraud they committed. The sinners in

The Holy Bible, By William Miller
Many people often ask themselves: Who am I. why do people exist. They wonder is there someone or
something that created everything. Throughout history, cultures and countries have developed their
beliefs on what religion and God is to them. Churches today still share similar traditions and beliefs as
ancient churches, but yet there are so many sects of religion and followings. When you think
Christianity you may miss count all the diverse teachings. With all these different teachings, they all
teach from The Holy Bible, but the scripture is translated in my different perspectives. Even though
churches all read from the same book, The Holy Bible , it all comes down to how each church
translates the word. Seventh Day Adventist is a type of Protestant Christian denomination
distinguished by its observance of the seventh day of the week in Christian and Jewish calendars,
which is Saturday. William Miller, S. S. Snow, Joseph Bates, James White, and Mrs. Ellen G. White
founded Seventh Day Adventists. Ellen White has several books over the Seventh Day Adventist and
her writings are still held in power by the Church. One of her writings, 28 Fundamental Beliefs,
provides the church with guidance. Some of the 28 fundamental beliefs include: belief in Trinity,
belief in Life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, belief in Unity in the body of Christ, belief in
Baptism in full water submersion, belief in Experience of salvation, belief in the Lord s supper, belief

Harrington s Article Analysis
In Harrington s article, she mentioned a few key elements in resilience, and stated that having a vision
gives a sense of purpose and direction to one s life (Harrington, 2012, p.2). As I reflect upon that
statement, I thought about my own life. I thought about when I was a little girl, how I just knew I
wanted to be a police officer. As I grew older, I had many obstacles thrown my way and questioned
myself on many occasions if I still wanted to follow my dream or was it just a phase because I was so
fascinated with officers. I have had so many visions and accomplished many of my goals because I
had a purpose in life and I knew where I wanted to go. Once I had my mind set and focused on many
of my visions in life, I felt my purpose in life.

The Fda s New Egg Safety Final Rule
Anderson Cooper (AC): Good Evening American, and welcome to another debate. I am Anderson
Cooper and I will be your host for the evening. The good news is that this debate is not related to the
presidential election. Tonight we will be discussing a topic that I have recently become interested in,
new FDA rules especially those related to eggs. Recently, there have been many foods borne illnesses
outbreaks related to the egg industry. Tonight we will specifically be talking about a company called
Quality Eggs and the impact the government has on the effect of outbreaks. Besides this we will be
discussing the FDA s new Egg Safety Final Rule. Tonight to discuss these issues we have Bill Marler,
a managing partner of Marler Clark, a Food Safety Law Firm, will argue the side of the government.
Bill has represented many cases throughout his years, and has won numerous awards including the
Seattle University s Professional Achievement Award in 2011 ( Marler Clark , n.d.) On the other side
of the table tonight we have Randal Meyer who will be representing CATO. CATO is a public policy
organization that works to educate people on their freedoms. CATO receives no government funding,
and is supported mostly by tax deductible contributions and support from various contributors ( About
CATO , n.d.). Now that we know a little bit about the two people participating in the debate let s start
the debate. Good evening gentlemen are you both ready to debate the new egg safety laws?

Julius Caesar Social Classes Essay
Proletariats have been looked down upon as lesser by every social class in history, even by themselves
and each social class above them is named inadequate and inferior by the ones above them. In
Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, high contrast is shown between the representation of the bourgeois and
the working classes. Criticism of higher social classes is subtle enough to go unnoticed by the nobility
and Queen Elizabeth, yet powerful enough that the majority of Shakespeare s audience would
understand and relate to it. When together, the plebeians also take on a mob mentality. In scene one of
act one, Flavius is angry about the commoners immediately shifting their admiration from Pompey to
Caesar; they all agree and cheer when Caesar is to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of seeing them as godlike and flawless, they re represented on a personal level, despite their
status. Brutus is willing to help Cassius if it be aught toward the general good, (1.2.87). The general
good is likely not referring to the general population of Rome, but the general good of those he and
Cassius deem important, meaning just the other senators. This shows Brutus lack of consideration for
the plebeians of Rome. Brutus temperament and behaviors are also exposed, as the audience finds out
he is indecisive and hypocritical, particularly on the matter of Cato s suicide. Cassius is also shown to
be a manipulative liar, after audience realise he was most likely lying about Caesar being sick in
Spain. Cassius and the other senators believe they are better than the commoners. When Brutus
accuses Cassius of leading him into danger of the conspiracy, Cassius says if he were a common
laugher, then hold me dangerous (1.2.74,80). Cassius believes the commoners are all foolish or stupid
and can t be trusted with important decisions. The upper class characters are shown in the way
Shakespeare sees them, which is corrupt and

Cymothoa Exigua Research Paper
Cymothoa exigua is slowly becoming a widely known crustacean like parasite. Most people tend to
refer to this parasite as the tongue eating louse due to its evasion and reproduction mechanisms. This
parasite is only attracted to fish but most importantly the snapper fish. Cymothoa exigua is known as
protandric hermaphrodites because they begin as males and later in their life cycle they end up
switching sexes. When Cymothoa exigua causes the fish to lose its tongue, it does not entirely affect
the fish in any other way.
Life Cycle/ Reproduction
The life cycle of Cymothoa exigua is unknown but one thing for sure is that they undergo sexual
reproduction. Scientists believe that when the juvenile parasite first attaches to the fish s gills, they

The Social Order Of France
Mary Allen Walmisley Mrs.Ginnocchio AP European History 17 December 2014 Chapter 20 Unit
Questions The social order in France was complex in the 18th century. The population was legally
divided into three social ranks, or the Estates. In the first estate was comprised of the clergy who had
privileges, some of theses privileges included not having to pay taxes and owning 10% of France s
land. In the second estate, the nobles who owned 20% of the land, also had feudal privileges, which
meant that they were exempt from taxes and had important hunting rights. Finally, the third estate
consisted of 98% of the population: the commoners, the middle class, rural workers, urban poor, and
merchants. The middle class was also known as the Bourgeoisie. The estates during this time period
no longer reflected the social reality because the middle class were expanding into the second estate.
The rising middle class actually caused tension between the social groups because they pushed for
social change and the nobles felt like they were losing power. The French monarchy lost power under
Louis XV and Louis XVI because parliaments regained the power to evaluate royal decrees, France
fell into a financial crisis, new taxes were imposed, the Seven Years War took place, Rene de
Moanupeo was instated, and the royals lost their sacred aura. Originally, the parliaments in France had
little power, but when Louis XV came to the throne they regained their right to evaluate the decrees

Qatar being a desert environment, most people think that it is not possible to grow plants there. This is
not the case. There are 5 different soil types to consider throughout Qatar:

poor structural properties. Also, rawdha soils give rise to surface crusting which interferes with the
plant air water relationship and inhibits the emergence of seedlings.

Life Orientation Line Dancing Portfolio
10 August 2015
Section B:
Definition: a type of country and western dancing in which dancers line up in a row without partners
and follow a choreographed pattern of steps to music.
History: Line dancing originated before Christ and it originated from another kind of dance called
Contra dancing which was done in the New England states in the early 1800s. The Contra was set up
in such a way that there would be two lines facing each other one line would be men and the other line
would be woman. A couple would then step into the middle and do their own routine down the line
and then the next couple would come forward and so on and so forth.
Skills: 1. Count to the beat of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strengths that I realized while dancing was that I have a good ear for hearing the beat of the
music and find it easy to keep to the rhythm of the dance. I also found it easy to remember the steps
and the order of the steps. I struggled with the technicalities of certain steps. In the beginning I also
struggled with the enthusiasm that was needed in the dance due to a lack of confidence but this
enthusiasm increased as my confidence with the dance increased. I enjoyed learning choreography and
dancing in time to the music but I did not enjoy how some people were singled out and forced to
dance in front of the entire class. Line dancing was very beneficial not only physically but it also
teaches a lot of life lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else such as discipline and to respect and
appreciate women. I would participate in further line dancing activities because it is a good
opportunity to get to know new people and become involved in new thing and learn new skills. Line
dancing can improve confidence and self esteem so I would therefore do it again if I was struggling
with these things. I personally highly enjoyed going to the line dancing lessons as it was a way for me
to escape from the busy life of a matric student. It gave me a chance to forget about all other work and
subjects and allowed me to express myself in such a way that it relieved stress from my everyday

Challenges Faced By European Enlargement And Integration
Challenging the challenges: The Eastern Enlargement was, and remains, a point of dispute when
arguing the costs and benefits. It provided numerous opportunities for the EU, but with them came
challenges, some of which could be argued were too much and too soon for the EU. This chapter will
engage the major challenges and benefits in the way they were presented by dominant theories of EU
enlargement and integration. To provide a clearer picture they will be divided into two broad headings;
economic and political. Money matters: As the planned economy experiment of the Soviet bloc failed
so it left scars in the economy of the CEECs. The average GDP of the candidates was only 40% of the
average member state GDP, while representing approximately a third of EUs population and size.
Comparatively, Spain s and Portugal s GDP was 70% of that of Member states upon entering (Nugent,
2004). Such a divide in income is troubling, to say the least, as the cost of development would now be
shared among all member states, leaving the older members to pick up the tab.Furthermore, the EU
budget would come under heavy strain, especially the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The
CEECs had a fairly undeveloped industry, seeing a large amount of the population employed in the
primary sector. The numbers here are quite staggering, the percentage of the population employed in
the EU in agriculture went from 5% to 12% after the enlargement (numbers taken from Eurostat data).
To deepen the problem,

Three elements from Casablanca are: explicit meaning, a protagonist character and editing of close

Largely, Casablanca emphasizes an explicit meaning into an implicit meaning through the story
character s functional role of the protagonist, Rick Blane. Editing of scenes using camera close ups

The Cay Conflicts
In many great books the characters will face a conflict if not multiple conflicts that will test the
characters behaviors and actions and throughout the book these conflicts can change how the character
or characters act. The book The Cay by Theodore Taylor is no exception to this. In The Cay, Phillip s
character reveals that because of many hardships he developed independence, bravery, and cleverness.
Phillip demonstrated independence after experiencing the hardships of blindness as evidenced in the
novel when he was able to survive on the cay after Timothy s death. At the beginning of the book after
becoming blind Phillip acts almost completely helpless. In the passage it states, In wild excitement, I
stumbled up and fell overboard. I went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of this book Phillip is scared and frightened by almost every sound or little thing he
hears on the cay. As evidenced in the novel, During those first few days on the island, the times I spent
alone were terrible. It was of course not being able to see that made all the sounds so frightening.
(Taylor 65). During the first few days on the island and after becoming blind almost every sound
scares and be starts acting very paranoid. Then by around the middle of the story Phillip talks about
how since being blind his hearing has gotten remarkably better and he can identify stuff better now
just by the sound. Due to this he s become more brave and scared be less things, but he is still not
completely brave alone on the island. This is supported in the story when it says, I went up about ten
feet and froze. I could not move up or down. My legs and arms were rigid. Timothy standing below to
catch me if I fell, called up softly, Phill eep, tis no shame to ease your own self downg to d san.
(Taylor 98). At this point he has become much more brave since they got to the island, but he still gets
scared by a lot. This demonstrates that he was still too frightened to climb up the palm tree and get the
coconuts. By the end of the story Phillip demonstrates being much more brave than when first arriving
at the island. This demonstrated well by this evidence This time, I dived in earnest. I went straight
down, touched the bottom, and then took a few strokes toward the coral sides of the pool. Timothy had
said that langosta were always at the bottom, usually over against the rocks and the coral. To my
amazement, I touched one on the first sweep and drove the sharp stick into him, swimming quickly to
the surface. (Taylor 122). So, by the end Phillip is way

By 1994 a significant year in the company s history Greggs consisted of more than 500 stores
operating in seven regional divisions. The stature of the company at this point was about to increase
substantially, providing a fitting tribute to the company s tenth year as a publicly traded concern. In
mid 1994, Greggs acquired the retail baking interests belonging to Allied Bakeries Limited. The
transaction nearly doubled the size of the company, adding 424 shops and a new brand to the company
s portfolio, Bakers Oven.
The acquisition of Allied Bakeries added a new dimension to Greggs business strategy, one that
contrasted and complemented the company s operations. Unlike the shops operating under the Greggs
banner, the Bakers Oven shops featured in store bakeries. Rather than assimilate the acquired units
into the company s network of large central bakeries that served a cluster of retail shops, Darrington
and his management team decided to develop Bakers Oven as a separate brand, a decision that opened
new markets for the company s expansion. Through Bakers Oven shops and their in store bakeries, the
company was able to establish a presence in markets with lower population densities than the Greggs
units demanded. For the Greggs model of a central bakery serving satellite shops to make financial
sense, numerous retail outlets needed to be in close

The Populist Movement Essay
The Populist Movement
The small farmers of America struggled through many agricultural problems during the late19th
century. Their exclusion from the industrializing society, and their lagging in developments set them
back from the rest of the country. Through their hardships they found a way to come together and
form a political movement that would represent their rights and needs and give them a voice in the
political decision making; it was called the
Populist movement. However, the formation of this movement didn t happen over night; it was a
complicated process, but in the end it paid off for the small farmers of America. The agricultural

The farmers wanted restrictions on railroads, buffer from market, and increase in money supply and
credit. To help achieve these desired changes, the Granges and Alliances were created. The Granges
and Alliances were organizations formed to help bring the farmers together, and help them to make
cooperatives so as to make a profit. These two systems were a large step in the emergence of the
Populist movement. The Granges were first started by Oliver H. Kelley, an Agriculture Department
official. The Grange came first and was created as a social organization for farmers. The
Grange system wanted to bring farmers together to learn new scientific agricultural techniques, create
a feeling of community between farmers, and organize cooperatives.
The Granges were temporarily successful, but eventually failed because of inexperience and
opposition of the middlemen. The decline of the Grange movement made way for the
Farmers Alliances. The Alliance started in Texas in 1877 and welcomed men and women alike. They,
like the Granges, formed cooperatives so as to free the farmers from the dependence on the large
corporations. The Alliances spread quickly, but still had some of the same problems the Granges had
like inexperience, and the middlemen getting in the way. These frustrations helped push the movement

A Case Lease For Finance Lease
From the perspective of the lessee, this case would be treated as a finance lease because it reflects the
relevant requirement in AASB117 Leases for finance lease. AASB 117 define finance lease as a lease
that transfers substantially all the risk and rewards incidental to ownership of an asset. Some
indicators for a lease to be classified as finance lease are: fair value, non cancellability, contingent
rent, transfer of ownership, bargain purchase option, lease term, economic life, and minimum lease
payments (AASB 117 par 10 11). In this case, we can see that some of the indicators of being a
finance lease has been satisfied. First indicator is the non cancellability of the lease. It was indicated in
the case that the lease Salohcin Ltd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, it also satisfied the minimum lease payment, where the inception of the lease the present value
of the minimum lease payment amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the asset which
is $349, 160.Therefore, this lease agreement could be treated as a finance lease.
b) Present Value First, as the lease is non cancellable and at the inception of the lease the present value
of the minimum lease payments amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the leased
asset (calculations provided below), the lease is a finance lease.
Present value of 4 lease payments of $100,000 discounted at 20% (we eliminate the executory costs)
$100,000 x 3.106 =$310,600
Present value of unguaranteed residual $80,000 x 0.482 = $38,560 $349,160
c) Schedule of Lease Receipts for the Lessor
Note: Because the first receipt occurs immediately it is not discounted.
The implicit rate is the rate that, when applied to the minimum lease payments plus unguaranteed
residual, causes the sum of these present values to equal the fair value of the asset at lease inception. It
is emphasised that unguaranteed residuals are not part of the minimum lease payments because the
lessor is not required to make such payments. However, knowledge of the unguaranteed residual is
necessary to determine the interest rate implicit in the lease. Using 20 per cent, the present value of the
minimum lease payments, plus the unguaranteed residual, is:

Compare Indonesia And Australian Economy
Transcript: Comparison of the Australian and Indonesian economy
The role of an economy is to effectively make use of a countries resources, thus increasing economic
performance. If economic performance of a country was at a maximum, then the country would have
substantial wealth and therefore purchasing power, which would be available to spend on allocated
departments including: health, infrastructure and military, to name a few. A countries wealth gives an
indication of its living standards, with an increase in wealth it is probable that the living standards will
also increase simultaneously. Although the entirety of the concept of improving living standards is not

Indonesia had a GDP of 868.3 billion international dollars (GDP of Indonesia, 2016) and a GDP per
capita of 3,475.25 international dollars in 2013 (GDP per capita, Indonesia, 2016). The GDP is
primarily used to indicate an economies performance, it is measured by Y = C + I + E + G, where Y =
GDP, C = Consumer Spending, I = Investment made by industry, E = Excess of Exports over Imports,
G = Government Spending (Birch T, 2016). The GDP per capita is calculated by the GDP of a country,
divided by the population of a country. The GDP and GDP per capita are very vital indicators of an
economies progress. A rise in GDP shows that there an increase of value in an economy or there is a
higher income or rise in expenditure which implies that there is a rise in the standard of living of the
citizens and due to rise in income there will be a higher spending on various goods and services like
healthcare, education, etc. Therefore as Australia s GDP is higher than Indonesia s there is an

The Pros And Cons Of Electronic Monitoring
Electronic monitoring is a device that allows Justice Officers and officials to ensure an offender is at a
certain location when 65 required to be there. The use of the monitoring device is becoming more
popular as a way to control and supervise offenders within the community to ensure citizens are safe.
In the mid 1960 a Harvard Psychologist Robert Schwitzgebel developed the first electronic monitoring
device. The device was intended to provide an inexpensive alternative for offenders than incarceration
or within the justice process. Even though the device was patented in 1969 it didn t start coming into
effect until the 1980 s. It s used by courts to track the location of offenders that are under surveillance

These accused offenders are only released by recognizance bond which is a bond that doesn t require a
payment. In most of the recognizance bond cases within the United States the judge orders the accused
to be electronically monitored. Riskier clients with serious charges, repeat offenders, and ones that
already have a form of community supervision or a history of failure to appear are the ones that are
supervised with electronic monitoring. It s noted that clients who are electronically monitored commit
more technical violations than accused that aren t being monitored. But is outweighed because the non
monitored clients have more failure to appear violations and new arrest than offenders that are
electronically monitored. An alternative to pretrial detention, supervision with selective use of
electronic monitoring. With electronic monitoring use, higher risk clientele can be released with
effective supervision. Pre trial monitoring depends on how high the risk is for the accused to be
released into society with monitoring supervision and the decision is based on the judges thoughts and
assumptions on facts that have been gathered on the offenders past. PIR reports are filled out by
officers and prior probation officers if the offender has been in custody before. The defense and

Materialism Personal Statement
As a child, I ve always understood the world as a place where people desire upward mobility and
considered material wealth as happiness. Although I do not consider myself a materialistic person, my
perception has been shaped by several tribulations where material has affected my personal
relationships. My own philosophy is that I live by is to explore the things that you re scare of and to
challenge the unknown. Without exploring our fears, I think that we wouldn t be able to expand our
own perception of the truth and surroundings. In my opinion, our fears hold metaphors and significant
meanings that we repress and are frightened to face. In fact, they may reveal important truths, which

Argumentative Statement Against Gay Adoption
Gaia Alberti
Ms Mathers
HN English III
13 November 2017 Gay Adoption
We believe that every child has the right to a loving, nurturing and permanent family, and that people
from a variety of life experiences offer strengths for these children (The Board of Directors of the
National Adoption Center). Gay adoption by legal couples has become a rising controversy in the past
decade, affecting the lives of many children and families. Around the world there are so many children
that need to be adopted and thousand and thousand parents that want to undertake this experience, but
they are not allowed because of the law in some countries. These parents have the right to adopt and
have done nothing wrong and they have the same ability to grow children as straight couple; yet, they
are not allowed to take care of a child that has been abandoned. Still, many people are against gay
adoption because they think kids need a mother and a father to have proper male male and female role
models. They also believe kids raised by a gay couple are more likely to become gay. This
unconstitutional act exists because of prejudices and discrimination. Many organizations wants equal
rights for all parents and children and they believe discrimination based on sexual orientation should
be stopped. Gays and lesbians should be allowed to adopt because they can be just as good at
parenting as straight couple. Many kids are still in orphanages waiting for homes, and children will
have the opportunity

Critically Examine the Claim That Free Will and...
Critically examine the claim that free will and determinism are incompatible
One of the main questions that we face is whether or not, we as humans have genuine freedom. Are
we free to make our own choices? Do we decide what happens in our lives in the future? Or are our
lives set pathways in which we have no say at all? Are all our choices already decided? In other
words, do we have free will or are our actions pre determined, or both? Hard determinists, libertarians
and soft determinists all set out to provide answers to these questions, holding different views on
whether or not free will and determinism are compatible. Both hard determinists and libertarians

Many believe that the world is largely determined but we can still act freely as our behaviour is not
predictable. Thomas Aquinas disagreed with hard determinism as he believed that man chooses freely,
not out of necessity . Although Aquinas and others that criticise hard determinism and disagree with
the hard determinist views, would still agree with hard determinists in that free will and determinism
are incompatible, but would argue that we have free will but our lives are not determined. This view
that free will and determinism are incompatible but it is free will that exists, not determinism, is also
supported by libertarians.
Libertarians believe that we are free and are morally responsible for our actions. They believe that the
inanimate world is mechanical and is therefore caused and predictable but reject the idea that this
extends to humans. Libertarians hold that we are not compelled to act by forces outside our moral
consciousness; moral actions instead come from the character and values of the agent. There are
factors which may influence someone to act in one way but it is not certain that they will. C.A.
Campbell s notion of freedom states that when you are acting freely, the future is genuinely open to
you and you can actually choose one way or another, even with given nature and nurture. Libertarians
do not argue for absolute freedom but significant freedom that it is a

History of Hubble
American astronomer Lyman Spitzer began to lobby for a space based instrument in 1946, and a little
more than two decades later, NASA started designing the Large Space Telescope. (It was named after
famous astronomer Edwin Hubble in 1983.)
Hubble was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but the project was beset by
technical delays, budget problems, and the Challenger disaster (1986).
The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but like
many projects the Hubble was slowed by technical delays, budget issues and the Challenger accident
(1986).
HST was placed into orbit by the Discovery shuttle on April 25, 1990, and started sending images on
May 20, 1990. On June 26, NASA announced that the telescope suffered from spherical aberration.
The telescope was supposed to be able to focus 70 percent of a start s light, but the mirror was only
able to focus 10 to 15 percent.

the better half of the last five decades. Over which time the influence of the association has increased

framework of an agreement offering up to three times the value of the Uruguay Round. The package

There is no culture in the history of mankind that did not ever use some kind (kinds) of drugs. Despite
the well known consequences of drug addiction, millions of people constantly consume different legal

threatening factors of social risk, resulting in increasing rates of mortality, aggressive and criminal

They also identify a latent function that is associated with making a drug legal or illegal. To make a
drug illegal is to strengthen the agencies that have been established to control them. The moral
entrepreneur has a lot of power and money to make drugs legal or illegal, whatever is in their best
interest. Conflict theorist emphasize how drugs are used as a political tool. They decide whether a
drug is criminalized or not. The conflict theorists used the laws against the Chinese immigrants in the
1800 s.
Continuous use of a certain drug results in the need to consume higher doses in order to achieve the
same effect and by negative and painfully felt effects of sudden withdrawal of the drug. The drug not

ABSTRACT: Uma Parameswaran is a versatile writer critic who has attempted to capture the trauma
and dilemma of the diasporic self. Drawing on her first hand knowledge of the white collar,
professional and academic diaspora in Canada, she attempts to voice their dilemmas and confusions,
and above all, their feeling of rootlessness, their fear that having been uprooted once, they will never
again be able to take root anywhere, despite their best efforts. The angst of the diaspora, striving to
retain their identity even as they struggle to assimilate and become one of them , forms the core of
Uma Parameswaran s oeuvre. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel Mangoes on the Maple Tree, the flooding of the Red and the Assiniboine that threatens
the peaceful life of Winnipeg, brings the community together and removes barriers in an
unprecedented way. Jayant is one of the young men who work tirelessly, shoulder to shoulder with the
others, to sandbag the river and divert the floodwaters. The waters of the river that threatens brown
and white alike, and endangers harmony, may perhaps be seen as a levelling and unifying force, and
thus becomes as sacred to the immigrant consciousness as the Ganga. The play Dear Deedi My Sister
concludes with the extract from Sapna s letter to her Deedi in India, We must build our temple here,
where the Assiniboine flows into the Red. And we shall bring Ganga, as Bhagirata did of old, to our
land, our Assiniboine, and here shall be groves where Uma shall dance with Parameswara (Sons 73).
Thus we have Parameswaran playing on the mythological overtones of her own name to reinforce her
notion of a unique diasporic Canadian identity, forged by those who have crossed the oceans, carrying
their own baggage of myths and beliefs, and confidently asserting their selfhood in a new land. Savitri

The Cycle Of Socialization ( C.o )
1) Define describe the Cycle of Socialization (C.O.S), the Cycle of Liberation (C.O.L). Explain how
they relate to how Hip Hop has been shaped, giving two examples from either reading and/or in class.
The Cycle of Socialization is the cycle in which shapes who we are mentally, morally, and
characteristically. The first step in the COS, is the Lens of Identity. This is where the person is
socialized through their own personal lens, or they are taught on a personal level. Examples of this is
one s peers, teachers, or family. There is usually unquestionable trust in these people. The second step
is Institution Culture, where we are bombarded with subliminal messages by these two factors each
day. Institution, would be things such as School, a Business, or the Media (one of the largest in the
institution factor). Culture, would be things like what we have done in class, such as studying lyrics,
language, patterns of conscious and unconscious though. The last step, is the Lens of Experience. This
is one of the most important, because we have now become experienced in life, and know many things
that many may not ever know. With this though, we have two choices of what we can do. The first
choice, is to do nothing; we can remain stagnant, and go a long to get along because that is the easier
way to do things. Or, we can cause change, raise consciousness, and interrupt the stagnant problem
help with fixing it. When we do this though, it leads into the next cycle,

Dionysian And Apollinian
In Nietzsche s The Birth of Tragedy, the two impulses, Dionysian and Apollinian are identified.
Dionysian is described as irrational, chaotic; to follow your emotions, your heart no matter how
irrational your decision may be, it is what Schopenhauer defines as will (people wants). It is brought
up with festivals that occurred in Rome and the tradition continued all the way to Babylon. In these
festivals, people would dance until they couldn t stand, not knowing where they were going or why
they were dancing. Apollinian is described as following facts, science; think with reason, or anything
that is apart of a thing s individuality. Sculptures are seen as Apollinian because they have a form and

Analysis Of Fleetwood Mac s Rumours
There is no doubt that Fleetwood Mac s Rumours is one of the most iconic rock albums of all time.
The album skyrocketed the band into fame and success with Grammy nominations, millions of sold
copies and four top ten singles. However, behind the scenes of Fleetwood Mac s success was a group
of people falling apart. The band was in chaos, filled with anger, passion and heartache and you can
clearly hear this turmoil in their lyrics.
During the making of Rumours, Fleetwood Mac s two couples John McVie and Christine McVie, and
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were in the midsts of high tension breakups. The McVie s were
divorcing and Nicks and Buckingham, longtime lovers, were separating; Of course, not without some
affairs mixed into the madness. Tensions were high as the band s songwriters channeled their
frustrations, often used as cross dialogues to one another, to create the songs that would then become
the musical soap opera, Rumours.
One of the first songs on the album, Go Your Own Way truly encompasses the emotion the couples
were feeling. The song starts with the powerful line: loving you isn t the right thing to do / how can I
ever change things that I feel? From the bat, the song, written by Buckingham, is an ode to the broken
relationships within the band. In other words, the lyric means that things aren t working out between
him and Nicks, yet he can t help but love her still. The relationship causes him sadness and pain, for
he cannot help the way he

The Service Sector Management Class
Interactive, collaborative conversations with customers are essential for gaining critical information
and insight about customers situations and enable salespeople to offer unique, added value solutions
for customers needs. (SELL4, Cengage Learning, 82) Communication skills, to me, is the main topic
within the Service Sector Management class. The reason I believe this is because in order to build
trust, sale, understand the buyer, etc. you must be able to talk to the customers. Trust based sales
communication is when you must talk with the customer rather than at them. It is a collaborative and
two way form of communication that allows buyers and sellers to better understand the need of
situations and working together to create the best responses for resolving the customer s needs. Trust
based communication is the sharing of importance between buying and selling individuals that result
from the interactive process of exchanging information and ideas. With this emphasis on establishing
understanding, communication is essential throughout each stage of the selling process. Effective
communication skills are needed to classify buying needs and to demonstrate to buyers how a
salesperson s planned solution can satisfy those needs better than competitors. The critical capabilities
for effective selling include questioning, listening, giving information, nonverbal communication, and
written communication skills. Although each of these skills are needed in everyday life, they

School Is Bad For Children By John Holt
This nation s best and strongest leaders attended school as children. Leaders such as John F. Kennedy
and Franklin D. Roosevelt ( School House to White House ). Can their success as leaders be attributed
to school? Or would they have been successful without that education? School is where they were
inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects, completing
homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making friends are part
of the common heritage of an American education shared by everyone including our Presidents (
School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt makes a plea to free
children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America s education system is
harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be improved. Although Holt makes a
few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas to abolish school attendance, to always
have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave much to be argued)
Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses evidence
to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written from his
experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of schools...
(Holt 75), and In many schools... he can t even talk to them at lunch (Holt 73). Who are these schools?

In Class, We Discussed Three Different Possibilities Of
In class, we discussed three different possibilities of the meaning of Gwendolyn Brooks s story The
Mother. The first and most probable interpretation of this story is that it is narrated by a mother who
has gone through a miscarriage and is trying to warn other mothers not to get abortions because they
will regret it. This interpretation contains the greatest amount of solid evidence and makes the most
sense. The other two, while less plausible, still have some argument for them. The second theory is
that the story is narrated by a mother who has undergone an abortion and is living through the
heartache of it, and is now trying to convince other mothers to not do this. The third, and least
plausible meaning, is that this is narrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It explains that the child was born, physically brought into this world, and yet it didn t live. This what
a stillborn child is. A stillborn falls under the category of a miscarriage; it is essentially a child that has
been born dead. Furthermore, Brooks writes If I poisoned the beginnings of your breaths, / Believe
that even in my deliberateness I was not deliberate, (lines 20 21). This evidence suggests that the
mother is blaming herself for the miscarriage. She may think it was something she did, or something
she didn t do, that caused the loss of her child. In pregnancy, there are things the mother can do that
may cause harm to the fetus, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or any number of things. Also, if
necessary precautions aren t taken, it may have adverse effects on the child. When a mother goes
through a situation as traumatic as losing their child, it is normal for her to blame herself. Since
Brooks explicitly stated that the narrator was not deliberate, it leads us to believe that it was a
miscarriage because he/she had no intentions of hurting the child. Another example Brooks includes
is, ...I have eased / My dim dears at the breasts they could never suck. (lines 12 13). These lines are
telling us that after the child was born, she may have held it to her chest, but because the child had not
survived, it could not suck. This makes sense because typically after a child is

Childhood Immunizations
Vaccination rates in the United States have suffered declines in recent years due largely to parents
fears about possible effects on their children. This has led to a resurgence in children s diseases that
had been suppressed through decades of high vaccination rates. Childhood immunizations are
beneficial because they prevent the acquisition and spread of dangerous infectious diseases, they
protect immunocompromised children that cannot otherwise be vaccinated (such as those with
autoimmune issues), and the benefits far outweigh any perceived risks. In January 2015, the CDC
reported an outbreak of measles in that was 99% preventable, and which continues to spread. There
are about 20 million cases of measles per year and more than 145,000

Hardware Implementation Of Impedance Inverter And...
ABSTRACT The aim of this project is to do simulation and hardware implementation of Impedance
inverter and controlling speed of three phase induction motor. In Impedance inverter one control
circuit which has elements like L C which is known as impedance network in which L is connected in
series C is connected in parallel. By creating short through fault in this network, we can get voltage
Buck or Boost. This is the main advantage of impedance inverter. This impedance inverter is applying
to control speed of an induction motor. In CSI and VSI techniques which Produces undesirable
harmonics. This harmonic results in reduction in efficiency of induction motor speed control. By using
this inverter the harmonics are reduced which helps in giving better variable speed for speed control of
induction motor. In this impedance inverter consists of two inductors and two capacitors which acts as
filter that reduces harmonics And it can also be effectively reduce the voltage stress across the
capacitors in the impedance network. This reduces the voltage range of the capacitors used, and also
the cost of the proposed Method. FIGURE NO. DISCRIPTION PAGE NO. 1 Introduction 2 Overview

System Software ( Os )
System software (systems software) is computer software designed to operate and control the
computer hardware and to provide a platform for running application software. System software can
be separated into two different categories, operating systems and utility software. The operating
system (OS) is the best known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in
a computer.
An operating system (sometimes abbreviated as OS ) is the program that, after being initially loaded
into the computer by a boot program, manages all the other programs in a computer. The other
programs are called applications or application programs. The application programs make use of the
operating system by making requests for services through a defined application program interface
(API). In addition, users can interact directly with the operating system through a user interface such
as a command language or a graphical user interface (GUI).
The operating system s most important job is managing the CPU: If there are multiple programs that
must execute, then it is a disaster if one program uses the processor and loops . The OS must ensure
that all programs have fair use of the processor s time so that all programs make progress at execution.
The CPU executes each process a bit at a time. The CPU s clock times the execution of a process, and
when a time limit is reached, then the clock signals the CPU that it is time to switch to another
process. The CPU executes just one

Irony In Law Enforcement
Ride Along On November 3, 2015, from 6 pm 3 am, I conducted my ride along with Grand Island
Police Department. I Rode with Police Officer Justin Roehrich #436. Officer Roehrich is 23 years old,
a Grand Island native who graduated from Northwest High school. The irony in this is I actually tested
for GIPD with Roercih and another Officer Rodriguez back in 2013. Officer Roehrich has been with
the GIPD about 2 years, he has also been on the road for a year now. After conducting the ride along, I
can say that a good part of the text is similar in its depiction of law enforcement. At this time, I cannot
come up with any differences from the text to real world. Except it does talk about all the political
debauchery that goes along with this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It started with both of us witnessing a dark colored late model Mustang, traveling at excessive speed
down Wheeler Ave. In fact my exact words were, Oh look at that dipshit! After confirming radar of
what we had both seen, lights and siren were activated. The suspect vehicle pulled over a block later
on one of the side streets. At first this would have seemed routine, but that change every few minutes.
The driver did not have a valid license, or proof of ownership, he did not have insurance. Another
officer responded shortly and began speaking to the passenger of the vehicle. Both Officers were
convinced something was off about the individuals. They had to run the drivers name multiply times
in multiple states to no avail. Come to finds out he wasn t giving them his full name, after the proper
name was used to search it came back the driver was a convicted felon. The passenger had nothing on
record so they released him on his own. But after they decided to detain and arrest the driver, an
inventory search yielded a firearm in the trunk of the vehicle. The driver was charged with possession
of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person 28 1206, defaced firearm 28 1207, and possession of a
short shotgun 28 1203. At that time a third officer arrived and to two officers assisting left to find the
passenger who left midway through the entire series of events. They later returned with the fine young

  • 2. Deception In The Inferno And Boccaccio s The Deccameron The theme of lying and deception reoccur frequently throughout Dante s, The Inferno and Boccaccio s, The Decameron. In Dante s, The Inferno we meet Geryon, a monster who leads Dante and Virgil into the eighth circle of hell. Dante believes that committing fraud and deception are the worst sin s and he illustrates that through Geryons physical traits, and where Geryon leads them, Malebolge. In Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, Dante further illustrates the themes of lies and deception by the sinners he meets and the stories he is told. The themes of lies and deception are prevalent not only through the Inferno but, also through Boccaccio s, The Decameron. Throughout The Decameron, Boccaccio uses lies and deception to build his hero s throughout the stories. The first story takes the theme of lies and deception and shows them through the character, Ciappelletto. Ciappelletto lies his way to heaven and ends up being praised by a city upon death, although his whole life he has been a sinner. Boccaccio often uses lies and deception to lead the characters to heaven, compared to Dante who sees how lies and deception have led the characters to hell. Throughout both texts the theme of lies and deception are prevalent and play a significant role in both stories. In Dante s, The Inferno, lies and deception are represented strongly through the monster Geryon. Geryon has many deceiving characteristics that represent lying and fraud. Dante describes Geryon as, His face is appealing like that of an honest man, but his body end in a scorpion like stinger. (Dante 223) Geryon has the face of an innocent man, which represents your typical person committing fraud, like we see in big business today. His scorpion like tail represents the downside to these businessmen because even though they look good at first, they are going to come back and sting you, by committing fraud against you. Geryon takes Vigil and Dante from the seventh circle of hell into the final circle of hell, Malebolge. In Malebolge, Dante and Virgil meet many sinners who have committed the act of fraud, all of the sinners are punished in unique ways depending on what type of fraud they committed. The sinners in the fourth Bolgia of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Holy Bible, By William Miller Many people often ask themselves: Who am I. why do people exist. They wonder is there someone or something that created everything. Throughout history, cultures and countries have developed their beliefs on what religion and God is to them. Churches today still share similar traditions and beliefs as ancient churches, but yet there are so many sects of religion and followings. When you think Christianity you may miss count all the diverse teachings. With all these different teachings, they all teach from The Holy Bible, but the scripture is translated in my different perspectives. Even though churches all read from the same book, The Holy Bible , it all comes down to how each church translates the word. Seventh Day Adventist is a type of Protestant Christian denomination distinguished by its observance of the seventh day of the week in Christian and Jewish calendars, which is Saturday. William Miller, S. S. Snow, Joseph Bates, James White, and Mrs. Ellen G. White founded Seventh Day Adventists. Ellen White has several books over the Seventh Day Adventist and her writings are still held in power by the Church. One of her writings, 28 Fundamental Beliefs, provides the church with guidance. Some of the 28 fundamental beliefs include: belief in Trinity, belief in Life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, belief in Unity in the body of Christ, belief in Baptism in full water submersion, belief in Experience of salvation, belief in the Lord s supper, belief in ... Harrington s Article Analysis In Harrington s article, she mentioned a few key elements in resilience, and stated that having a vision gives a sense of purpose and direction to one s life (Harrington, 2012, p.2). As I reflect upon that statement, I thought about my own life. I thought about when I was a little girl, how I just knew I wanted to be a police officer. As I grew older, I had many obstacles thrown my way and questioned myself on many occasions if I still wanted to follow my dream or was it just a phase because I was so fascinated with officers. I have had so many visions and accomplished many of my goals because I had a purpose in life and I knew where I wanted to go. Once I had my mind set and focused on many of my visions in life, I felt my purpose in life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Fda s New Egg Safety Final Rule Anderson Cooper (AC): Good Evening American, and welcome to another debate. I am Anderson Cooper and I will be your host for the evening. The good news is that this debate is not related to the presidential election. Tonight we will be discussing a topic that I have recently become interested in, new FDA rules especially those related to eggs. Recently, there have been many foods borne illnesses outbreaks related to the egg industry. Tonight we will specifically be talking about a company called Quality Eggs and the impact the government has on the effect of outbreaks. Besides this we will be discussing the FDA s new Egg Safety Final Rule. Tonight to discuss these issues we have Bill Marler, a managing partner of Marler Clark, a Food Safety Law Firm, will argue the side of the government. Bill has represented many cases throughout his years, and has won numerous awards including the Seattle University s Professional Achievement Award in 2011 ( Marler Clark , n.d.) On the other side of the table tonight we have Randal Meyer who will be representing CATO. CATO is a public policy organization that works to educate people on their freedoms. CATO receives no government funding, and is supported mostly by tax deductible contributions and support from various contributors ( About CATO , n.d.). Now that we know a little bit about the two people participating in the debate let s start the debate. Good evening gentlemen are you both ready to debate the new egg safety laws? Bill ... Julius Caesar Social Classes Essay Proletariats have been looked down upon as lesser by every social class in history, even by themselves and each social class above them is named inadequate and inferior by the ones above them. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, high contrast is shown between the representation of the bourgeois and the working classes. Criticism of higher social classes is subtle enough to go unnoticed by the nobility and Queen Elizabeth, yet powerful enough that the majority of Shakespeare s audience would understand and relate to it. When together, the plebeians also take on a mob mentality. In scene one of act one, Flavius is angry about the commoners immediately shifting their admiration from Pompey to Caesar; they all agree and cheer when Caesar is to be ... Brutus is willing to help Cassius if it be aught toward the general good, (1.2.87). The general good is likely not referring to the general population of Rome, but the general good of those he and Cassius deem important, meaning just the other senators. This shows Brutus lack of consideration for the plebeians of Rome. Brutus temperament and behaviors are also exposed, as the audience finds out he is indecisive and hypocritical, particularly on the matter of Cato s suicide. Cassius is also shown to be a manipulative liar, after audience realise he was most likely lying about Caesar being sick in Spain. Cassius and the other senators believe they are better than the commoners. When Brutus accuses Cassius of leading him into danger of the conspiracy, Cassius says if he were a common laugher, then hold me dangerous (1.2.74,80). • 10. The Social Order Of France Mary Allen Walmisley Mrs.Ginnocchio AP European History 17 December 2014 Chapter 20 Unit Questions The social order in France was complex in the 18th century. The population was legally divided into three social ranks, or the Estates. In the first estate was comprised of the clergy who had privileges, some of theses privileges included not having to pay taxes and owning 10% of France s land. In the second estate, the nobles who owned 20% of the land, also had feudal privileges, which meant that they were exempt from taxes and had important hunting rights. Finally, the third estate consisted of 98% of the population: the commoners, the middle class, rural workers, urban poor, and merchants. The middle class was also known as the Bourgeoisie. The estates during this time period no longer reflected the social reality because the middle class were expanding into the second estate. The rising middle class actually caused tension between the social groups because they pushed for social change and the nobles felt like they were losing power. The French monarchy lost power under Louis XV and Louis XVI because parliaments regained the power to evaluate royal decrees, France fell into a financial crisis, new taxes were imposed, the Seven Years War took place, Rene de Moanupeo was instated, and the royals lost their sacred aura. Originally, the parliaments in France had little power, but when Louis XV came to the throne they regained their right to evaluate the decrees made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Life Orientation Line Dancing Portfolio Mark Craig 12 2 Life Orientation Line Dancing Portfolio 10 August 2015 Section B: Definition: a type of country and western dancing in which dancers line up in a row without partners and follow a choreographed pattern of steps to music. History: Line dancing originated before Christ and it originated from another kind of dance called Contra dancing which was done in the New England states in the early 1800s. The Contra was set up in such a way that there would be two lines facing each other one line would be men and the other line would be woman. One of the strengths that I realized while dancing was that I have a good ear for hearing the beat of the music and find it easy to keep to the rhythm of the dance. I also found it easy to remember the steps and the order of the steps. I struggled with the technicalities of certain steps. In the beginning I also struggled with the enthusiasm that was needed in the dance due to a lack of confidence but this enthusiasm increased as my confidence with the dance increased. I enjoyed learning choreography and dancing in time to the music but I did not enjoy how some people were singled out and forced to dance in front of the entire class. Line dancing was very beneficial not only physically but it also teaches a lot of life lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else such as discipline and to respect and appreciate women. I would participate in further line dancing activities because it is a good opportunity to get to know new people and become involved in new thing and learn new skills. Line dancing can improve confidence and self esteem so I would therefore do it again if I was struggling with these things. It provided numerous opportunities for the EU, but with them came challenges, some of which could be argued were too much and too soon for the EU. This chapter will engage the major challenges and benefits in the way they were presented by dominant theories of EU enlargement and integration. To provide a clearer picture they will be divided into two broad headings; economic and political. Money matters: As the planned economy experiment of the Soviet bloc failed so it left scars in the economy of the CEECs. The average GDP of the candidates was only 40% of the average member state GDP, while representing approximately a third of EUs population and size. Comparatively, Spain s and Portugal s GDP was 70% of that of Member states upon entering (Nugent, 2004). Such a divide in income is troubling, to say the least, as the cost of development would now be shared among all member states, leaving the older members to pick up the tab.Furthermore, the EU budget would come under heavy strain, especially the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The CEECs had a fairly undeveloped industry, seeing a large amount of the population employed in the primary sector. The numbers here are quite staggering, the percentage of the population employed in the EU in agriculture went from 5% to 12% after the enlargement (numbers taken from Eurostat data). Many believe that the world is largely determined but we can still act freely as our behaviour is not predictable. Thomas Aquinas disagreed with hard determinism as he believed that man chooses freely, not out of necessity . Although Aquinas and others that criticise hard determinism and disagree with the hard determinist views, would still agree with hard determinists in that free will and determinism are incompatible, but would argue that we have free will but our lives are not determined. This view that free will and determinism are incompatible but it is free will that exists, not determinism, is also supported by libertarians. Libertarians believe that we are free and are morally responsible for our actions. They believe that the inanimate world is mechanical and is therefore caused and predictable but reject the idea that this extends to humans. Libertarians hold that we are not compelled to act by forces outside our moral consciousness; moral actions instead come from the character and values of the agent. There are factors which may influence someone to act in one way but it is not certain that they will. C.A. In addition the EU proposed a reduction of up to 70% of general trade altering farm support, and the abandonment of export subsidies, with the proviso that others follow similar policies. Interestingly these proposals were described as some of the most noteworthy changes to the liberalization of farm trade, policy in world trade history, (Polaski, 2007). Drawing on her first hand knowledge of the white collar, professional and academic diaspora in Canada, she attempts to voice their dilemmas and confusions, and above all, their feeling of rootlessness, their fear that having been uprooted once, they will never again be able to take root anywhere, despite their best efforts. In the novel Mangoes on the Maple Tree, the flooding of the Red and the Assiniboine that threatens the peaceful life of Winnipeg, brings the community together and removes barriers in an unprecedented way. Jayant is one of the young men who work tirelessly, shoulder to shoulder with the others, to sandbag the river and divert the floodwaters. The waters of the river that threatens brown and white alike, and endangers harmony, may perhaps be seen as a levelling and unifying force, and thus becomes as sacred to the immigrant consciousness as the Ganga. The play Dear Deedi My Sister concludes with the extract from Sapna s letter to her Deedi in India, We must build our temple here, where the Assiniboine flows into the Red. Explain how they relate to how Hip Hop has been shaped, giving two examples from either reading and/or in class. The Cycle of Socialization is the cycle in which shapes who we are mentally, morally, and characteristically. The first step in the COS, is the Lens of Identity. This is where the person is socialized through their own personal lens, or they are taught on a personal level. Examples of this is one s peers, teachers, or family. There is usually unquestionable trust in these people. The second step is Institution Culture, where we are bombarded with subliminal messages by these two factors each day. Institution, would be things such as School, a Business, or the Media (one of the largest in the institution factor). Culture, would be things like what we have done in class, such as studying lyrics, language, patterns of conscious and unconscious though. The last step, is the Lens of Experience. This is one of the most important, because we have now become experienced in life, and know many things that many may not ever know. With this though, we have two choices of what we can do. The first choice, is to do nothing; we can remain stagnant, and go a long to get along because that is the easier way to do things. Or, we can cause change, raise consciousness, and interrupt the stagnant problem help with fixing it. When we do this though, it leads into the next cycle, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The album skyrocketed the band into fame and success with Grammy nominations, millions of sold copies and four top ten singles. However, behind the scenes of Fleetwood Mac s success was a group of people falling apart. The band was in chaos, filled with anger, passion and heartache and you can clearly hear this turmoil in their lyrics. During the making of Rumours, Fleetwood Mac s two couples John McVie and Christine McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were in the midsts of high tension breakups. The McVie s were divorcing and Nicks and Buckingham, longtime lovers, were separating; Of course, not without some affairs mixed into the madness. Tensions were high as the band s songwriters channeled their frustrations, often used as cross dialogues to one another, to create the songs that would then become the musical soap opera, Rumours. One of the first songs on the album, Go Your Own Way truly encompasses the emotion the couples were feeling. The song starts with the powerful line: loving you isn t the right thing to do / how can I ever change things that I feel? The Service Sector Management Class Interactive, collaborative conversations with customers are essential for gaining critical information and insight about customers situations and enable salespeople to offer unique, added value solutions for customers needs. (SELL4, Cengage Learning, 82) Communication skills, to me, is the main topic within the Service Sector Management class. The reason I believe this is because in order to build trust, sale, understand the buyer, etc. you must be able to talk to the customers. Trust based sales communication is when you must talk with the customer rather than at them. It is a collaborative and two way form of communication that allows buyers and sellers to better understand the need of situations and working together to create the best responses for resolving the customer s needs. Trust based communication is the sharing of importance between buying and selling individuals that result from the interactive process of exchanging information and ideas. With this emphasis on establishing understanding, communication is essential throughout each stage of the selling process. Effective communication skills are needed to classify buying needs and to demonstrate to buyers how a salesperson s planned solution can satisfy those needs better than competitors. The critical capabilities for effective selling include questioning, listening, giving information, nonverbal communication, and written communication skills. Roosevelt ( School House to White House ). Can their success as leaders be attributed to school? Or would they have been successful without that education? School is where they were inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects, completing homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making friends are part of the common heritage of an American education shared by everyone including our Presidents ( School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt makes a plea to free children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America s education system is harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be improved. Although Holt makes a few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas to abolish school attendance, to always have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave much to be argued) Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses evidence to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written from his experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of schools... The first and most probable interpretation of this story is that it is narrated by a mother who has gone through a miscarriage and is trying to warn other mothers not to get abortions because they will regret it. This interpretation contains the greatest amount of solid evidence and makes the most sense. The other two, while less plausible, still have some argument for them. The third, and least plausible meaning, is that this is narrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It explains that the child was born, physically brought into this world, and yet it didn t live. This what a stillborn child is. A stillborn falls under the category of a miscarriage; it is essentially a child that has been born dead. Furthermore, Brooks writes If I poisoned the beginnings of your breaths, / Believe that even in my deliberateness I was not deliberate, (lines 20 21). This evidence suggests that the mother is blaming herself for the miscarriage. She may think it was something she did, or something she didn t do, that caused the loss of her child. In pregnancy, there are things the mother can do that may cause harm to the fetus, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or any number of things. Also, if necessary precautions aren t taken, it may have adverse effects on the child. When a mother goes through a situation as traumatic as losing their child, it is normal for her to blame herself. Since Brooks explicitly stated that the narrator was not deliberate, it leads us to believe that it was a miscarriage because he/she had no intentions of hurting the child. Another example Brooks includes is, ...I have eased / My dim dears at the breasts they could never suck. (lines 12 13). ABSTRACT The aim of this project is to do simulation and hardware implementation of Impedance inverter and controlling speed of three phase induction motor. In Impedance inverter one control circuit which has elements like L C which is known as impedance network in which L is connected in series C is connected in parallel. By creating short through fault in this network, we can get voltage Buck or Boost. This is the main advantage of impedance inverter. This impedance inverter is applying to control speed of an induction motor. In CSI and VSI techniques which Produces undesirable harmonics. This harmonic results in reduction in efficiency of induction motor speed control. By using this inverter the harmonics are reduced which helps in giving better variable speed for speed control of induction motor. In this impedance inverter consists of two inductors and two capacitors which acts as filter that reduces harmonics And it can also be effectively reduce the voltage stress across the capacitors in the impedance network. This reduces the voltage range of the capacitors used, and also the cost of the proposed Method. FIGURE NO. • 50. System Software ( Os ) System software (systems software) is computer software designed to operate and control the computer hardware and to provide a platform for running application software. System software can be separated into two different categories, operating systems and utility software. The operating system (OS) is the best known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in a computer. An operating system (sometimes abbreviated as OS ) is the program that, after being initially loaded into the computer by a boot program, manages all the other programs in a computer. The other programs are called applications or application programs. The application programs make use of the operating system by making requests for services through a defined application program interface (API). In addition, users can interact directly with the operating system through a user interface such as a command language or a graphical user interface (GUI). The operating system s most important job is managing the CPU: If there are multiple programs that must execute, then it is a disaster if one program uses the processor and loops . The OS must ensure that all programs have fair use of the processor s time so that all programs make progress at execution. The CPU executes each process a bit at a time. The CPU s clock times the execution of a process, and when a time limit is reached, then the clock signals the CPU that it is time to switch to another process. The CPU executes just one ...
