Phil Groves was born in 1949 in Southwest England. He accepted a two-year apprenticeship under Viscount Weymouth in 1968, working on murals at Longleat that are still on public view. His paintings are in the permanent collections of The Marquiss of Bath, John Mayall, John Burke Esq., and the estate of author Roderick Thorpe, as well as other private collections.

Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre was a French inventor and chemist best known for developing the daguerreotype process of photography. He worked with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce to develop the heliographic process for creating early photographs using iodized silver plates. After Niépce's death in 1833, Daguerre continued experiments and discovered the method of fixing the latent images produced on the iodized silver plates, resulting in the first publicly announced photographic process in 1837.
