This document outlines a PhD research proposal examining the factors that contribute to the identity and status of visible ethnic minority native English-speaking teachers. Specifically, it will analyze how linguistic and racial hierarchies affect these teachers' professional identity and practice. The researcher will use critical discourse analysis and critical race theory to analyze narratives from participants about their experiences. Next steps include integrating these analytical lenses and determining the researcher's position when collecting data.
