Then, the experiments have been carried out as the analogous rigid beds of the captured eroded profiles at any time of erosion of the broad crested weir to compare the discharge equation and to study the energy loss in dislodging the soil from the surface of the weir and transporting them down stream.

of a river bed. In this paper, a finite volume method
FORTRAN code is provided and used. The code is able to
model the sedimentation. The flow and sediment were
modeled at the interception of the two channels. It is applied
an experimental model to evaluate the results. Regarding the
numerical model, the effects of geometry parameters such as
proportion of secondary channel to main channel width and
intersection angle and also hydraulic conditionals like
secondary to main channel discharge ratio and inlet flow
Froude number were studied on bed topographical and flow
pattern. The numerical results show that the maximum
height of bed increased to 32 percent as the discharge ratio
reaches to 51 percent, on average. It is observed that the
maximum height of sedimentation decreases by declining in
main channel to secondary channel Froude number ratio. On
the assessment of the channel width, velocity and final bed
height variations have changed by given trend, in all the
ratios. Also, increasing in the intersection angle accompanied
by decreasing in flow velocity variations along the channel.
The pattern of velocity and topographical bed variations are
also constant in any studied angles.

This work describes the proposed development program for the accumulations in the virtual Beta field located in Libya offshore. In 2018, the contractor informed the Management Committee about the Commercial discovery of Beta field. This development plan has been prepared for submission to the Management for its consideration. All the modules were built with suitable sensitivities. The important results were laid out with some recommendations in each section. with flow measurement as their secondary. It is normally intended for use in the field and thus
to regulate broad discharges. Broad-Crested weir is among the oldest common weir types. In this
paper, the effect of height and surface roughness for different Board Crested weirs models were
studied on discharge coefficient (Cd) in a horizontal open channel. In the crest of the weir,
certain materials may be combined with concrete (e.g., boulders) or may be used as cladding to
minimize the effect of water overflow (e.g. stone). The weir surface should not be considered
smooth in this case, and the discharge coefficient (Cd) must be re-estimated. For these purposes, laboratory flume was used to study the effect of height and surface roughness on the discharge coefficients with four of the different weir models dimensions of the concrete blocks. In this study, the flow conditions were considered to be free water flow and the viscosity effect was neglected. In all cases, the weir height effect was directly proportional to the discharge coefficient while the surface roughness effect was found to be inversely proportional to the coefficient Cd of the case study.

Abstract
Tar mats are extra-heavy bitumen that occur between
aquifers and overlaying oil columns. They seal either
partially or completely an oil reservoir from its
aquifer and reduces aquifer support. Tar
characterization includes evaluation of the tar
distribution and its sealing degree. It is an important
prerequisite to optimize the water injection well’s
requirement and placement to maximize sweep and
recovery.
This paper discusses a case study and demonstrates
an integrated methodology by using static and
dynamic data to determine the tar distribution and its
sealing degree. The study includes both early life data
before the subject field was put in production, as put
on production, and post-production data to refine the
characterization. Additionally, the use of formation
pressure while drilling and Pyrolytic Oil-Productivity
Index (POPI) analysis to optimize the injector’s
placement will also be highlighted. Moreover,
saturation and production logging tool analysis were
incorporated to determine if there is aquifer influx
across the tar mat. The degree of the aquifer influx is
also evaluated using material balance and reservoir
simulation.
Introduction
Field X is one of Saudi Aramco fields that was
developed with four producing reservoirs namely, 1,
2, 3 and 4 reservoirs. The producing reservoirs have
relatively good reservoir quality with average
permeability of 310 md. The value is only one-third
of average permeability from pressure build up which
indicates an existence of fractures. The reservoir
properties are relatively uniform.
Distribution of petroleum product within the oil rich Niger Delta area of Nigeria is a daunting
task because of its deltaic nature. To solve this challenge, fixed fuel dispensing stations will be built in the
coastal environment to receive and make supplies available to fishermen and marine transporters. Building of
such fuel stations require proper foundation design. Soil test results of the region was obtained and a foundation
design was made to ascertain the number of piles pile depth, pile spacing, skin friction, lateral load bearing
capacity and end bearing capacity. API codes where used to check and ensure that the results obtained are
within safety limits. This will ensure that the offshore structure completes it intended and designed life span.

This research paper is focused to estimate the current production rate of the wells and to predict field remaining reserves. The remaining reserve depends on the production points that selected to represent the real well behavior, the way of dealing with the production data, and the human errors that might happen during the life of the field. Reserves estimating methods are usually categorized into three families analogy, volumetric, and performance techniques. Studying the permeability in a particular formation will be our address in this paper, through collection of a set of data in relates to the past real core analyses by the oil operators and correlating them to our lab works on the samples of the same formation from Pilaspi formation (M.EOCENE - U.EOCENE) outcrop on Haibat Sultan Mountain near Taq Taq oil Field. Lab works were done in Koya University using most of reservoir lab equipments for getting and determining the most important properties like porosity and permeability on plug samples of that formation. The key study in this paper is oil well TT-02 in Taq Taq oil field. In this paper we will try to nominate and recognize the more active porosity type through measuring air and liquid permeability in our reservoir lab and show the effects of increasing flowing pressure on the permeability using saturated and dry core plug. Water and air were used as flowing fluids and two methods were used to measure the permeability; steady-state method, measures the permeability of a saturated Core plug under constant flow rate conditions and air permeability with (N2) for dry core plug.

Shale volume (Vsh) estimation has been carried out on three selected reservoirs (Nan.1, Nan.2, and Nan.4) distributed across four wells (01, 03, 06, and 12) in Nantin Field, using petrophysical analysis and reservoir modeling techniques with a view to understanding the reservoir elastic properties. Materials utilized for this research work include: Well Log data (Gamma Ray Log, Resistivity Log, Sonic Log, Density Log, Neutron porosity log), and a 3-D Seismic volume were used for the study. Sand and shale were the prevalent lithologies in Nantin Field. Nan. 1 reservoir was thickest in Nantin well 12 (29.7ft), Nantin 2 reservoir was thickest in Nantin Well 12 (30.9ft) while Nantin 4 reservoir was thickest in Well 3 (72ft). Correlation well panel across the Field showed that Nantin 4 reservoir, was thicker than Nan 1 and Nan 2 Reservoir respectively. Normal and synthetic Faults were also mapped, the trapping system in the field includes anticlines in association with fault closures. The thicknesses and lateral extents of these reservoirs were delineated into three zones (1, 2, and 3) which were modeled appropriately. Petrophysical and some elasticity parameters such as Poisson ratio (PR), Acoustic Impedance (AI), and Reflectivity Coefficient (RC) were evaluated for the wells. The results from elasticity evaluation showed a high Poisson Ratio of 0.40 in Nantin 2 reservoir of Well 12 based on high shale volume distribution of 0.70 indicating high stress level and possible boundary to hydraulic fracture. The lowest Poisson Ratio was evaluated in Nantin reservoir of Well 1 with lowest shale volume of 0.18 which indicates weak zones and may not constrain a fracturing job. Results from Acoustic impedance showed a high AI value of 7994.3 in Nan 2 Reservoir compared to Nan.1 which has the least AI value of 7447.3 because of low shale volume. A higher Reflectivity Coefficient of 0.01 was recorded in Nan.2 reservoir indicating bright spot while a lower RC of -0.00023 was recorded in Nan.4 Reservoir indicating dim spot. Hydrocarbon volume estimate of the three reservoirs showed 163mmstb in Nan.1 reservoir, 169mmstb, in Nantin 2 reservoir and 115mmstb in Nan. 4 Reservoir. The reservoirs encountered were faulted and laterally extensive. Nantin 2 reservoir was more prolific with a STOIIP of 169 mmstb compared to Nan. 1 with a STOIP of 163 mmstb and Nantin.4 with a STOIP of 115 mmstb, because of its good petrophysical values, facies quality and low shale volume distributions.
Field Experience from a Biotechnology Approach to Water Flood ImprovementBill-NewAERO
Abstract
This paper is based on a field implementation in the United States of a biological process for improving waterflood performance. The Activated Environment for Recovery Optimization (“AERO™”) System is being developed by Glori in collaboration with Statoil and derives its roots from a microbial enhanced oil recovery technology developed and successfully implemented by Statoil offshore Norway. Unique among IOR technologies, AERO implementation requires virtually no capital investment and achieves high performance efficiencies at low operational cost. The simplicity of setup allows pilot project implementation creating a very low risk entry point for the operator.
A pilot project was selected for a controlled investigation of the performance and impact. Robust testing was done in both water and oil phases prior to treatment, confirming the potential for improved sweep and conformance from the project. Subsequent implementation resulted in decreased water cut and increased oil recovery observable both at the wellhead and allocated pilot levels.
This paper summarizes a rigorous analysis of the pilot project‟s performance to date, concluding that the production improvement should be credited to the implementation of the AERO™ System.

For mature fields, Excessive water production is a complex subject in the oil and gas industries and has a serious economic and environmental impact. Some argue that oil industry is effectively water industry producing oil as a secondary output. Therefore, it is important to realize the different mechanisms that causing water production to better evaluate existing situation and design the optimum solution for the problem. This paper presents the water production and management situation in Jake oilfield in the southeast of Sudan; a cumulative of 14 MMBbl of water was produced till the end of 2014, without actual plan for water management in the field, only conventional shut-off methods have been tested with no success. Based on field production data and the previously applied techniques, this work identified the sources of water problems and attempts to initialize a strategy for controlling the excessive water production in the field. The production data were analyzed and a series of diagnostic plots were presented and compared with Chan’s standard diagnostic plot. As a result, distinction between channeling and conning for each well was identified; the work shows that channeling is the main reason for water production in wells with high permeability sandstone zone while conning appears only in two wells. Finally, the wells were classified according to a risk factor and selections of the candidate wells for water shut off were presented.
