A Pastor Of A Small Church
In preparing to be a pastor of a small church, one must have accepted his or her calling, be trained and
be willing to serve the people. Pastoring is a spiritual work which will lead you to some amazing
people if given the chance to lead them. This will truly be a test of your faith as one prepares to pastor
a small church. Some people would say, what must you do to be a pastor? Will Doran Mc Carty tell us
that you must be spiritually prepared, educated on the word of God, have a lifelong commitment to
God, growth as a pastor, and cultural aware. Pastoring of any size church comes with these types of
challenges. Those spoken here and some not spoken about. As I cover the different areas of
preparation, keep in mind that these are just a few that must pastors follow. You will not get far if you
are not filled with the Holy Spirit and seeking grace and mercy daily.
A spiritual preparation is a must when pastoring. McCarty, D. (1997). Leading the small church, says
A call to preach is a call to prepare. He also says Spirituality is personal and not mechanical and rote
exercise. This spiritual preparation is an interaction with God and God alone. This not something that
is just done. It is important that time is spent praying to God and listening to what he has for us. A
pastor is not in the business of doing what he or she wants to do but what God has for us to do as
pastors. Devotion and meditation is essential to the growth of a pastor s spiritual preparation. Source

Research Paper On Andrew Jackson And The Battle Of New...
Andrew Jackson and The Battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson is widely known for his time as our
seventh president, however, he started off as a general and led the famous Battle of New Orleans. The
war started when American ships were targeted for search and attack by the British Navy. The United
States were outnumbered, yet in the end, we still reigned victorious. By uniting Americans, Native
Americans, and the Baratarian pirates the British were defeated and the treaty of Ghent was signed
and made official, ending the war of 1812.
The War of 1812 (Conflict) The war of 1812 started for many reasons, however, one of the main
reasons was British navy stopping and searching American ships for former British sailors who
abandoned their ships and forcing people to fight for them. Another reason for the war s start was
because motivation of the war hawks of the US congress to go to war with great Britain was their need
to totally expel Great Britain from the remaining land still under British domain on the North
American Peninsula, (Tim Nash). This need to push Britain out of the North American peninsula
helped the USA grow to be what it is today. As the war heated, America grew its army to include not
only Americans, but also had the Baratarian pirates and some Native American tribes, though most
sided with the British hoping for independence. [After many American victories, it was time to take
back New Orleans]

The Importance Of Perseverance
Perseverance is failing 19 times then succeeding the 20th time Julie Andrews. This means that you are
going to hit many bumps in the road but there is always times where you can push through and make
the most of their life. As defined by Dictionary.com perseverance is a steady persistence in a course of
action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. The
synonyms are Dedication , Determination , and Diligence . The antonyms for this word are Apathy ,
Cowardice , and Weakness . This is important because people need to persevere to get through life s
tough challenges and make the most of it even when times are tough. In the real world this looks like
people trying to get through the day even though money is tight. This doesn t not look like people just
sitting around not doing anything to try to help themselves if they don t have job. The first example
where perseverance is shown is that when in the book Glory Road Coach Don Haskins was
scrimmaging at college and he is left in all day with no breaks. Later when he got home he took off his
sock and the skin on the ball of his foot fell off because he ran so much. The next day he goes to the
athletic trainer s room and tapes the skin back on his feet. The second example where perseverance is
shown is when the Japanese Americans were persecuted during WWII based on their nationality and
people lost their jobs, businesses, and were left with nothing and were

The Three Qualifications To Become President
To be president, not just anyone can jump into place. They need to meet the qualifications. There are
three qualifications to pass before one becomes president. The first one is that they need to be at least

need to be Native born. Therefore, they need to be born in U.S. They don t want someone born in

The Defining Ethics and Prevention of Financial Fraud in the Work Place
Ta Nishia Johnson
Savannah State University
Abstract
This research primarily focuses on ways of preventing financial fraud in the work place as well as
defining the proper ethics to follow. It elaborates on the ways to deter fraud and what ethics should be
taught during training for the job given to an employee. In order to understand the best way to stop
people from committing fraud, we must learn what stipulations are already set in place for the crime.
Company guidelines for fraud detection and prevention should be set in place in order avert fraud. To
better understand why people commit fraud, the study for this research will pay close attention on
ethical associations and ethics that are taking place in the workplace. Ethics plays a major role in the
business workplace by providing guidelines and contouring people s behaviors while working. This
research paper will disclose the following questions:
What procedures are already in place to deal with fraud?
How can fraud be prevented?
Can new measures and guidelines be set in place to better detect fraud?
How to detect fraud in time to prevent major damage?
Keywords: financial fraud, workplace ethics, detection, prevention, implementation

A Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Objective
The objective of this study is to examine the general context of the communicative approach in
language teaching and describe the key features of a communicatively innovative approach with a
focus on form and to describe in detail four central elements of an innovative and progressive
approach to second language teaching. This work will additionally discuss the challenges found in
relation to the application of these two elements.
Introduction
The work of Ellis (2000) reports, that Second Language Acquisition (SLA) ...is a sub discipline of
linguistics , stated to be a very young field of study. According to Ellis it is agreed upon by many
researchers in the field that ...the late sixties marked the onset of an intense period of empirical and
theoretical interest in how second languages are acquired. (2000) The work of O Laoire (nd) reports
that in recent years there has been a great deal of focus on learning the Irish language within the
context of immersion bilingual programs and that these type studies have emphasized the value added
cognitive dimension of studying Irish within an immersion education context with findings that are
consonant with bilingual programs elsewhere. (nd, p.1) However, it is reported as well that a serious
challenge is present for the learner of Irish due to ...the distribution of Irish speaking networks. (O
Laire, nd, p.1)

Juxtaposition In Ender s Game
In Ender s Game it is never entirely clear who is a friend and who is an enemy. Graff, Anderson, and
Rackham, who are undoubtedly Ender s friends, appear to him as enemies and are forced to do so.
Peter attempts to befriend Valentine merely to get what he wants, but she never forgets that he is not a
real friend. Petra Arkanian and Dink Meeker are always Ender s friends, but at times he is uncertain of
where they stand. But by far the most striking juxtaposition occurs with the buggers. The only enemy
that Ender truly fears, the buggers in the end prove to be friendly. The earth s greatest enemy, the alien
race it was at war with, turns out not to have been intentionally hostile. The author constantly proves
that friends and enemies are not

Stamp Act Conflict
The last conflict that contributed to blaming the British, was the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was the
first internal tax on the colonist. They were taxed on every piece of printed paper. They created the act
to pay off debt from the French and Indian war but most importantly pay for the British soldiers that
were in the colonies. The colonist were upset with this act because they believed that if they were to
be taxed, they should be taxed by their own representatives and they didn t want the British army
there. They protested by refusing to pay/ignored the stamps, punished supports of the act, made an
effigy of tax collectors and hung it from a tree/put it over a fire, and created the virginia resolves. It s
easy to see how the colonist reacted

The Comparison and Contrast of Anne Sexton and Sylvia...

The Comparison and Contrast of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath The two poems, And One for My
Dame by Anne Sexton and Daddy by Sylvia Plath, both explore similar themes through the use of
literary elements such as structure, tone and symbolism. Structures in each poem are alike with length
but differ with the actual form. The tone Plath conveys is negative one while Sexton s is more neutral.
The symbolism in Daddy was also negative with symbols of the devil but Sexton used a nursery
rhyme as a symbol. The connotations of these elements reflect the image the daughters had of their
fathers but also the relationships. These poems also both deal with the theme of ... Show more content

The tone associated with suicide and bad communication is not positive because these are not happy
things and consequently, with Plath mentioning these, the poem takes on a dark tone which reflects
her relationship with her father. On the other hand, Sexton creates a tone that is much lighter by using
words that have neutral or positive connotations. Her choice of diction does not hint either way
whether her relationship with her father was good or bad, it seems to stay neutral which reflects her
objective tone throughout the poem. She begins to introduce him as a born salesman in line 1 and a
born talker in line 4, which at most, infers that he was a charismatic person (1,4). Sexton goes on to
list everything he was in line 15 stating he was a peddler, a hawker, a merchant and an Indian Chief
(15). By these descriptions her father does not appear to be out of the ordinary. He was just a traveler,
committed to his work and not much else. The way she describes him also seems to be observational
so possibly her relationship with him was distanced and unattached. Therefore, the tone echoes the
theme that the relationship she had with her father because their relationship was disconnected and
that was the emotion provoked as she remembered him. In addition to structure and tone, the authors
both use symbolism to connect to the theme. In Daddy , Plath once again mirrors her feelings and
relationship with her father by the use of negative symbols such

The Great Gatsby Marxism Analysis
Marxist Lense: Oblivious Until Oblivion Obliviousness is the key to happiness in the world of The
Great Gatsby. The Roaring twenties, the book s setting, a time of recklessness and enjoyment had
despair afterwards which is a similar theme to the story. In the story, characters who see certain
situations with clouded judgement make their own, individual happiness plausible. Many of these
characters are oblivious to various aspects of life such as: a destructive lifestyle, hope, and love, and
are able to create temporary but powerful happiness opposed to people who are grounded by the brutal
reality. The 1920 s lifestyle was recklessness and exuberant. The causation of the recklessness was
caused from a familiar substance, alcohol. Alcoholism in story symbolizes blindness in the story and is
similar to the affects of life. Furthermore, the clouded judgement cause from the alcohol is able to
cause a temporary surplus of positive emotions as life s pressure is released with every drink. Relating
to drunkeness, Nick writes during a party, drunk, Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows
must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and
I was him too, looking up and wondering. I was within and without simultaneously enchanted and
repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life ( Fitzgerald 35) which exemplifies the 1920 s and the
thrilling effect of alcoholism. Although, at first, the party was awkward, Nick is able to

Cone beam computed tomography

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialized type of x ray examination used to create 3
dimensional images of the head and neck structure. After attending a lecture on this technology I was
greatly interested to learn more. For this research paper I wanted to compare and contrast cone beam
CT with other more traditional types of radiographic exam equipment.
Since their first discovery and usage in the 1890 s, X ray machines have seen many developments and
improvements. One of the biggest advances has been the creation of machines which can produce a

differences are lost in the translation. With cone beam CT you are able to see different structures from
multiple vantage points. These characteristics make it the choice of many speciality dental practices,
in particular oral surgery. While it s cost does make it a major investment, cone beam CT is an

In this image we see two 13 year olds of different generations, the one on the left was taken 10 years
ago and the one on the right was taken 2 years ago. We can see a clear distinction between then and
now. The photo on the left shows a young teenage girl wearing jeans and a shirt with a jacket. If she is
wearing any makeup it is very neutral and innocent, the image doesn t show off any assets or suggests
anything sexual. Whereas the image to he right she is wearing a pantsuit with a really low V cut. She

how women are treating themselves. Kids don t know any better they just want to be like their
favourite movie star or singer and copy how they act, dress and present themselves. This is why
society is like this nowadays. Back when music videos were innocent and didn t represent women as a

below, are keyed to improving leg circulation and bettering the diet: IMMEDIATE TREATMENT
Move your feet back and forth for a few moments. Rotate the feet back and forth momentarily. Get up

when they sleep in certain positions. Some find using a heating pad helps; others do better by soaking
their feet in cold water. LONGER TERM CARE It is known that drinking coffee is a significant
factor, so stop using caffeine products. Stop smoking. Studies reveal it is also a factor. Some studies

Heather Voke Policy Analysis
Many have voiced their concerns over the many issues within the teaching profession. Heather Voke
of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum responds to one issue, the teacher shortage, by

frequently recommended policy changes. According to Voke (2003), 42 percent of all teachers leaving

and lack of public respect also impacts teacher retention. Policy recommendations to retain teachers
include: salary increases, high quality induction programs, prohibit out of field teaching, include
teachers in decision making, developing current teachers, collaboration with universities to attract and
train teachers, and reduce class size. Voke suggests that policy makers and educational leaders do not
understand the nature of the teacher shortage. Moreover, developing programs to attract candidates

The Standpoint Theory On Human Relationships
The standpoint theory is an approach that seeks to demystify subjects concerning human relationships.
Such relations occur within diverse environments that influence though processes and the subsequent
perception of life. Further, this body of knowledge regards the manner in which authority is vested in
individuals within various forms of social systems. The standpoint theory provides that individual
perspectives are molded by their experiences. Additionally, this touches on the aspects of people s
political environments as they strive to exist within their habitat sustainably. Individual environments
affect the manner in which people interact with each other (Hägerstraand, 1970). Various determinants
come into play when social structures are established. Ethnicity has been found to be a substantial
factor that affects the establishment of connections between people from various backgrounds. Social
classes create the distinction between people s perspective of the world (Marton, 1980). Critically,
people with privilege have particular attributes that place them above the persons they oppress.
Structurally, human societies are established by sets of institutions. These institutions vary in
relevance and scope. Important social institutions include education systems, the law and religion.
People perform daily activities based on the various notions they hold about the societies they occur.

magnetism, entitled What Makes a Magnet? by Franklyn M. Branley. After the read aloud, students
were dismissed for centers and groups of five students circulated through completing the lesson
activity. For this lesson, the objective and sub objectives were as follows:
After completing this lesson, students will be able to sort magnetic and nonmagnetic objects by using
a magnet with 100% accuracy. o Students will define the following vocabulary words: magnet,
magnetic, nonmagnetic o Students will be able to use a magnet to find magnetic objects. o Students
will sort objects that are magnetic into one group and nonmagnetic into another group.
The lesson objectives were clear and measurable. While reading What Makes a Magnet?, vocabulary
and comprehension questions were asked to ensure there was a conceptual understanding of the terms
magnetic and nonmagnetic. These definitions were imperative for a student to know, as they would
not be able to sort objects correctly without understanding the concept. Once the students could
differentiate between the two groups, students would use a magnet wand to test the objects. This
shows that the students could use tools to investigate. Lastly, the students were to sort the objects
tested into two groups, placing the objects in either a

Emergency Action Plan Essay
Making an emergency action plan is really important to reduce the risk for and prevent injuries. When
developing an emergency plan, one need to know and identify the types of emergencies when they
occur, write safety guidelines and instructions that need to be followed in the event of an emergency.
The steps to follow include signals to use in order to activate the safety plan when there is an
emergency, the procedures for responding to the emergency, for calling 911 and giving direction to the
EMS responder to the scene, and any follow up actions that need to be taken. Identify safety
equipment that is available and needed to respond to each type of emergency. After developing the

The steps for fire safety include installing carbon monoxide detector and alarm detector, easily
accessible and working fire extinguisher, check chimneys and fireplace annually and repairs and
cleans as necessary. Develop an escaping plan for each room and floor in the home to follow in case
of a fire emergency. Practices the plan to familiarize yourself and family members, teaches family
members to get out of the home first before calling 911. To escape from a home on fire checks the
temperature of the door first and do not open it if it s hot, crawl low if there is smoke, and stays in the
room and call 911 if there is no escape possible (American Red Cross, 2011, p. 151). For home safety,
enter and place emergency number such as 911, national poison help hotline, family s healthcare
provider, and any others important numbers on all the family members cell and near every phone in
the home. Childproofing the house, putting knobs on doors and cabinets, and keep any hazardous
substances and objects out of the rich of children should be taken into consideration when there is a

For about twenty eight years now the Asian elephant has been struggling for existence. They have
been classified as endangered species by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Twenty eight years is quite a large amount of time for an animal to be classified as endangered so The
Zoological Society of London decided to look into this issue. Asian elephants have been transferred to
captivity for quite some time in the North American region. The Elephas maximus have been captured
from these countries in southern Asia and brought over to North America and have experienced many
complications that can hinder the genetic diversity of the evolution of the species. Captive populations
of the Elephas maximus species may be essential for genetic preservation and aid in decreasing the
deterioration of the authentic population (Brenneman et al. 2011).
Unfortunately, keeping these elephants captive has caused issues. The females are at least 35 years of
age which isn t very essential for reproduction so as a result the mortality rate amongst the calves and

Two Colors One Land
TWO COLORS ONE LAND American Dream is a taboo for many people from different nationalities
who are pursuit of happiness. One of the former U.S presidents Bill Clinton defined American dream
as; if ones do the best that they can, all the doors will open to them in order to reach happiness and to
benefit from the opportunities. (Michael S., 2004) Throughout the world many people day dream to be
a part of American dream one day. However the missing point which they do not know is that the
expectations may be disappoint humans after they take one slice of the big cake which is called
American dream. Michael Schudson mentioned in his journal that U.S is known as American dream
for many people but indeed, U.S is not the land of opportunities that people are assumed. When one
takes one slice of the big cake he or she can realize that the taste of the cake is not same for all races in
U.S. There is a non ignorable categorization between the races in U.S. Jefferson M. Fish defines
racism: Treating people unfairly because of their group membership . (2011) There are many
advertisements that introduce U.S as the land of opportunities and land of freedom. U.S is one of the
most developed countries about economic conditions and opportunities. There are many work streams,
many opportunities that are provided for people. However the opportunities are not equally balanced
between the all ethnic groups. Despite some ethnic groups take advantage of the

Descriptive Epidemiological Analysis Of Lyme Disease Essay
Descriptive Epidemiological Analysis of Lyme disease
Lyme disease is a spirochetal infection, which is transmitted by the bite of infected Ixodes ricinus
complex ticks. It is brought about essentially by Borrelia burgdorferi in the United States. Lyme
disease was initially perceived clinically in 1977 as Lyme arthritis amid investigations of a group of
youngsters in Connecticut who were thought to have adolescent rheumatoid joint inflammation. The
etiology of Lyme disease was found to be a spirochete in the mid 1980s. The rate of Lyme disease and
the geographic conveyance of cases in the United States have expanded consistently from that point
forward (Beard, 2016).
Lyme disease is the most widely recognized tick borne disease in the United States and Europe
(Beard, 2016). Since the ticks that transmit Lyme disease are frequently encountered in backyards and
recreational areas, a high level of public awareness and education should be made available to the
general public for areas that have a high level of Lyme disease. From 2005 to 2014, a sum of 251,061
cases of Lyme disease was accounted for in the United States. In 2014, Lyme disease was the fifth
most common reportable illness in the United States. Recent studies have shown about roughly
300,000 individuals are determined to have Lyme disease in the United States every year (Beard,
2016).
Descriptive epidemiology can be broken down by using the 5W model which is used in the military
for almost everything.

Big Data Management From Relational Database Management
With 3.2 billion internet users [1] and 6.4 billion internet connected devices in 2016 alone [2],
unprecedented amount of data is being generated and processed daily and increasingly every year.
With the advent of web 2.0, the growth and creation of new and more complex types of data has
created a natural demand for analysis of new data sources in order to gain knowledge. This new data
volume and complexity is being called Big Data, famously characterised by Volume, Variety and
Velocity and has created data management and processing challenges due to technological limitations,
efficiency or cost to store and process in a timely fashion. The large volume and complexity of data
cannot be handled and/or processed by most current information systems in a timely manner, while
traditional data mining and analytics methods developed for a centralized data system may not be
practical for Big Data.
Tracking the concept of Big Data management from Relational Databases Management Systems to the
current NoSQL database, this paper surveys the Big Data challenges from the perspective of its
characteristics Volume, Variety and Velocity, and attempts to study how each of these challenges are
addressed by various NoSQL systems. NoSQL is not a single system that can solve every single Big
Data problem; it is an eco system of technologies where different type of NoSQL databases are
optimized to address various types of big data challenges by providing schema less modeling and

Benefits Of Social Emotional Instruction
IMPORTANCE OF SEL There is plenty of research to show the benefits of Social Emotional
instruction and learning in the classroom setting. However, as is true for so much in public education,
limited resources, funding, time, interest, and coordination leads to insufficient or ineffective
implementation. Social emotional learning (SEL) has many names and definitions in academic
literature. Some have slightly different meanings, but the overarching concept is the same, generally
emphasizing similar key components. Researchers may use the terms: character education, social
emotional competence, emotional intelligence, __

Though implemented with the best of intentions, the disjointed bits of reactive instruction can actually
have a negative effect. To be effective, Greenberg_____ found that programs must be comprehensive,
chosen based on the needs of the children being served, and that staff must be trained, held
accountable, and supported by administration.
Jennings and Greenberg
This article defines an optimal classroom climate. Having an optimal classroom climate leads to more
efficient learning. If a classroom does not function at its best, the teacher also runs the risk of faster
burnout from the profession. Continual management of problematic behaviors may lead to reactive, as
opposed to proactive, responses from the classroom teacher, and therefore exhaustion and lower
teacher satisfaction.
The authors propose that an effective classroom model includes SEC social and emotional competence
by the teacher can direct student outcomes. They present a framework model to follow in order to
avoid the burnout cascade. Their model explains how a teacher lacking in SEC can negatively impact
the classroom climate, relationships, management, and SEL program implementation.
Also presented in this article is a prosocial classroom model graphic that includes teacher SEC and
student outcomes. It emphasizes the interrelated nature of each component. A change or deficit

The Importance Of Basketball
I ve always loved the game but just never really cared for it, if that makes sense. The game of
basketball and other sports, such as: football, floor hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and everything
else was just a bunch of things that i m great at doing so I took the time effort to put in daily to trying
to be the best at everything. I feel like without me really trying and practicing and working out all the
time i just feel like it payed off in the end. Because little did i know that when you play so many other
a better basketball play sports it only makes you better in so many other different ways, like football
can make you a better basketball player, and playing baseball can make you a better hockey player. It s
always the little things that count and matter the most when you re not expecting it. I never knew that
growing up with all the talent that i had can take me very far in life and it took me too long to realize
that. I m not upset with myself but i do think back on the times were I trotted around when i should ve
been working my hardest when nobody was around, and i just wish that time can go back. In life a lot
of things happen that you can never go back into time and fix it, but there is one thing that you can do,
you can make up for it and work 10x harder no matter what your doing always want to compete and
want to be number 1 at everything that you do. It was hard to really understand what i could do with
my talent, and how far I can take it. As a kid i

What Barbie Doll Have To Say About Postwar American Woman
Western Beauty. There is a science behind why people find certain mates attractive. Humans are
programmed to look for certain qualities in order to find a mate that will carry on their genes. These
qualities form the standard of beauty, and this standard will vary from culture to culture. The qualities
that are considered beautiful are the ones that will be the most useful for surviving and producing
healthy offspring. According to, What Makes You Fancy Someone published by the BBC, traits that
are commonly sought out in women are facial symmetry and the hourglass figure. These qualities
suggest to potential mates that there are no underlying genetic problems that could cause a shorter life
span or reproductive issues. The basis of what people believe is beautiful comes from the drive to find
a mate and produce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This doll differed from other dolls that were already on the market because this doll exemplified the
post World War II values and ideals for women. Barbie is a young, white, woman with inhumanly long
legs, a thin and shapely waist, and long blonde hair, as well as perfectly applied, flirty makeup.
According to, What Barbie Dolls Have to Say about Postwar American Culture by Miriam Forman
Brunell, Barbie at first was criticized for being over sexualized. It did not prevent her from becoming
a best selling toy in the past and present. Barbie embodied the lively American culture (Forman
Brunell 2). The patriarchal culture during this time, however, messaged that women were expected to
obey their husbands. Their only purpose in life was to find a husband, have children, and keep a
presentable house to please everyone. Women weren t even allowed to manage their own credit cards
until the 1970s. Women and girls were not treated equitably. These values, on the whole, are not the
values we operate under today. As our society has progressed, however, Barbie has remained

  • 2. A Pastor Of A Small Church In preparing to be a pastor of a small church, one must have accepted his or her calling, be trained and be willing to serve the people. Pastoring is a spiritual work which will lead you to some amazing people if given the chance to lead them. This will truly be a test of your faith as one prepares to pastor a small church. Some people would say, what must you do to be a pastor? Will Doran Mc Carty tell us that you must be spiritually prepared, educated on the word of God, have a lifelong commitment to God, growth as a pastor, and cultural aware. Pastoring of any size church comes with these types of challenges. Those spoken here and some not spoken about. As I cover the different areas of preparation, keep in mind that these are just a few that must pastors follow. You will not get far if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit and seeking grace and mercy daily. A spiritual preparation is a must when pastoring. McCarty, D. (1997). Leading the small church, says A call to preach is a call to prepare. He also says Spirituality is personal and not mechanical and rote exercise. This spiritual preparation is an interaction with God and God alone. This not something that is just done. It is important that time is spent praying to God and listening to what he has for us. A pastor is not in the business of doing what he or she wants to do but what God has for us to do as pastors. Devotion and meditation is essential to the growth of a pastor s spiritual preparation. • 3. Research Paper On Andrew Jackson And The Battle Of New... Andrew Jackson and The Battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson is widely known for his time as our seventh president, however, he started off as a general and led the famous Battle of New Orleans. The war started when American ships were targeted for search and attack by the British Navy. The United States were outnumbered, yet in the end, we still reigned victorious. By uniting Americans, Native Americans, and the Baratarian pirates the British were defeated and the treaty of Ghent was signed and made official, ending the war of 1812. The War of 1812 (Conflict) The war of 1812 started for many reasons, however, one of the main reasons was British navy stopping and searching American ships for former British sailors who abandoned their ships and forcing people to fight for them. Another reason for the war s start was because motivation of the war hawks of the US congress to go to war with great Britain was their need to totally expel Great Britain from the remaining land still under British domain on the North American Peninsula, (Tim Nash). This need to push Britain out of the North American peninsula helped the USA grow to be what it is today. As the war heated, America grew its army to include not only Americans, but also had the Baratarian pirates and some Native American tribes, though most sided with the British hoping for independence. This is important because people need to persevere to get through life s tough challenges and make the most of it even when times are tough. In the real world this looks like people trying to get through the day even though money is tight. This doesn t not look like people just sitting around not doing anything to try to help themselves if they don t have job. The first example where perseverance is shown is that when in the book Glory Road Coach Don Haskins was scrimmaging at college and he is left in all day with no breaks. Later when he got home he took off his sock and the skin on the ball of his foot fell off because he ran so much. The next day he goes to the athletic trainer s room and tapes the skin back on his feet. The second example where perseverance is shown is when the Japanese Americans were persecuted during WWII based on their nationality and people lost their jobs, businesses, and were left with nothing and were ... LaStacia Bradley Instructor McBride English 1023 June 29th, 2012 The Comparison and Contrast of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath The two poems, And One for My Dame by Anne Sexton and Daddy by Sylvia Plath, both explore similar themes through the use of literary elements such as structure, tone and symbolism. Structures in each poem are alike with length but differ with the actual form. The tone Plath conveys is negative one while Sexton s is more neutral. The symbolism in Daddy was also negative with symbols of the devil but Sexton used a nursery rhyme as a symbol. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tone associated with suicide and bad communication is not positive because these are not happy things and consequently, with Plath mentioning these, the poem takes on a dark tone which reflects her relationship with her father. On the other hand, Sexton creates a tone that is much lighter by using words that have neutral or positive connotations. Her choice of diction does not hint either way whether her relationship with her father was good or bad, it seems to stay neutral which reflects her objective tone throughout the poem. She begins to introduce him as a born salesman in line 1 and a born talker in line 4, which at most, infers that he was a charismatic person (1,4). Sexton goes on to list everything he was in line 15 stating he was a peddler, a hawker, a merchant and an Indian Chief (15). By these descriptions her father does not appear to be out of the ordinary. He was just a traveler, committed to his work and not much else. The way she describes him also seems to be observational so possibly her relationship with him was distanced and unattached. Therefore, the tone echoes the theme that the relationship she had with her father because their relationship was disconnected and that was the emotion provoked as she remembered him. In addition to structure and tone, the authors both use symbolism to connect to the theme. • 11. The Great Gatsby Marxism Analysis Marxist Lense: Oblivious Until Oblivion Obliviousness is the key to happiness in the world of The Great Gatsby. The Roaring twenties, the book s setting, a time of recklessness and enjoyment had despair afterwards which is a similar theme to the story. In the story, characters who see certain situations with clouded judgement make their own, individual happiness plausible. Many of these characters are oblivious to various aspects of life such as: a destructive lifestyle, hope, and love, and are able to create temporary but powerful happiness opposed to people who are grounded by the brutal reality. The 1920 s lifestyle was recklessness and exuberant. The causation of the recklessness was caused from a familiar substance, alcohol. Alcoholism in story symbolizes blindness in the story and is similar to the affects of life. Furthermore, the clouded judgement cause from the alcohol is able to cause a temporary surplus of positive emotions as life s pressure is released with every drink. Relating to drunkeness, Nick writes during a party, drunk, Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and I was him too, looking up and wondering. Descriptive Epidemiological Analysis Of Lyme Disease Essay Descriptive Epidemiological Analysis of Lyme disease Lyme disease is a spirochetal infection, which is transmitted by the bite of infected Ixodes ricinus complex ticks. It is brought about essentially by Borrelia burgdorferi in the United States. Lyme disease was initially perceived clinically in 1977 as Lyme arthritis amid investigations of a group of youngsters in Connecticut who were thought to have adolescent rheumatoid joint inflammation. The etiology of Lyme disease was found to be a spirochete in the mid 1980s. The rate of Lyme disease and the geographic conveyance of cases in the United States have expanded consistently from that point forward (Beard, 2016). Lyme disease is the most widely recognized tick borne disease in the United States and Europe (Beard, 2016). Since the ticks that transmit Lyme disease are frequently encountered in backyards and recreational areas, a high level of public awareness and education should be made available to the general public for areas that have a high level of Lyme disease. From 2005 to 2014, a sum of 251,061 cases of Lyme disease was accounted for in the United States. In 2014, Lyme disease was the fifth most common reportable illness in the United States. Recent studies have shown about roughly 300,000 individuals are determined to have Lyme disease in the United States every year (Beard, 2016). Descriptive epidemiology can be broken down by using the 5W model which is used in the military for almost everything. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Big Data Management From Relational Database Management With 3.2 billion internet users [1] and 6.4 billion internet connected devices in 2016 alone [2], unprecedented amount of data is being generated and processed daily and increasingly every year. With the advent of web 2.0, the growth and creation of new and more complex types of data has created a natural demand for analysis of new data sources in order to gain knowledge. This new data volume and complexity is being called Big Data, famously characterised by Volume, Variety and Velocity and has created data management and processing challenges due to technological limitations, efficiency or cost to store and process in a timely fashion. The large volume and complexity of data cannot be handled and/or processed by most current information systems in a timely manner, while traditional data mining and analytics methods developed for a centralized data system may not be practical for Big Data. Tracking the concept of Big Data management from Relational Databases Management Systems to the current NoSQL database, this paper surveys the Big Data challenges from the perspective of its characteristics Volume, Variety and Velocity, and attempts to study how each of these challenges are addressed by various NoSQL systems. NoSQL is not a single system that can solve every single Big Data problem; it is an eco system of technologies where different type of NoSQL databases are optimized to address various types of big data challenges by providing schema less modeling and automatic ... • 29. Benefits Of Social Emotional Instruction IMPORTANCE OF SEL There is plenty of research to show the benefits of Social Emotional instruction and learning in the classroom setting. However, as is true for so much in public education, limited resources, funding, time, interest, and coordination leads to insufficient or ineffective implementation. Social emotional learning (SEL) has many names and definitions in academic literature. Some have slightly different meanings, but the overarching concept is the same, generally emphasizing similar key components. Researchers may use the terms: character education, social emotional competence, emotional intelligence, __ Greenberg, et. al., (Year) propose social emotional programs are most effective when they focus on both the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though implemented with the best of intentions, the disjointed bits of reactive instruction can actually have a negative effect. To be effective, Greenberg_____ found that programs must be comprehensive, chosen based on the needs of the children being served, and that staff must be trained, held accountable, and supported by administration. Jennings and Greenberg This article defines an optimal classroom climate. Having an optimal classroom climate leads to more efficient learning. If a classroom does not function at its best, the teacher also runs the risk of faster burnout from the profession. Continual management of problematic behaviors may lead to reactive, as opposed to proactive, responses from the classroom teacher, and therefore exhaustion and lower teacher satisfaction. The authors propose that an effective classroom model includes SEC social and emotional competence by the teacher can direct student outcomes. They present a framework model to follow in order to avoid the burnout cascade. Their model explains how a teacher lacking in SEC can negatively impact the classroom climate, relationships, management, and SEL program implementation. Also presented in this article is a prosocial classroom model graphic that includes teacher SEC and student outcomes. It emphasizes the interrelated nature of each component. A change or deficit ... • 31. What Barbie Doll Have To Say About Postwar American Woman Western Beauty. There is a science behind why people find certain mates attractive. Humans are programmed to look for certain qualities in order to find a mate that will carry on their genes. These qualities form the standard of beauty, and this standard will vary from culture to culture. The qualities that are considered beautiful are the ones that will be the most useful for surviving and producing healthy offspring. According to, What Makes You Fancy Someone published by the BBC, traits that are commonly sought out in women are facial symmetry and the hourglass figure. This doll differed from other dolls that were already on the market because this doll exemplified the post World War II values and ideals for women. Barbie is a young, white, woman with inhumanly long legs, a thin and shapely waist, and long blonde hair, as well as perfectly applied, flirty makeup. According to, What Barbie Dolls Have to Say about Postwar American Culture by Miriam Forman Brunell, Barbie at first was criticized for being over sexualized. It did not prevent her from becoming a best selling toy in the past and present. Barbie embodied the lively American culture (Forman Brunell 2). The patriarchal culture during this time, however, messaged that women were expected to obey their husbands. Their only purpose in life was to find a husband, have children, and keep a presentable house to please everyone. Women weren t even allowed to manage their own credit cards until the 1970s. Women and girls were not treated equitably. These values, on the whole, are not the values we operate under today. As our society has progressed, however, Barbie has remained ...
