Career And Technical Education Programs
Career and Technical Education programs, known in the profession simply as CTE, provide
students an opportunity to prepare for a wide range of careers. Students are exposed many
disciplines including health care, agriculture, business, and graphic design. Through these programs
students get to explore various career paths and get hands on training, which will help them to be
more employable as they transition into the workforce.
Holland (2013) notes that, Despite stubbornly high unemployment, many employers complain that
they can t find qualified candidates. Often, the mismatch results from applicants inadequate
communication skills.
As Holland points out, the need for skilled workers is extensive. In a time when unemployment
rates are high there are plenty of people willing to work, but because of a shortage in literacy skills
and experience, there are not many people able to work in these positions. Students who
participate in CTE programs may be more prepared to enter the workforce because of the hands on
experience they receive in the classroom and through co curricular programs such as DECA or FFA.
In addition to not having experience, students are not employable because of their lack of
communication skills. Students who are not literate are not able to communicate in writing with
clients, coworkers, or a supervisor. An inability to express oneself effectively and coherently will
render an individual unemployable. Why students are unable to

Essay about Evelyn Waugh s Decline and Fall
Evelyn Waugh s Decline and Fall
Evelyn Waugh was born in 1903. He is not considered to be a distinguished novelist but his
writing is notable because they satirise much that was bizarre in English society. His father was a
publisher and his first novel, Decline and fall, was published in 1928. It is a satire on the preparatory
school industry. It is in the style and humour of Charles Dickens. Evelyn Waugh achieves his
purpose through exaggeration. He paints characters that are larger than life, just like Dickens. We
also see this method used in today s television in programmes like Spitting Image where gargoyle
like images of prominent personalities behave in an outrageous way. The descriptions... Show more

Evelyn Waugh satirises the way that the school employs teachers. They don t care about
qualifications needed to be a teacher; they just employ and rip you off. For example Paul
Pennyfeather does not teach music but he has to. Paul later ends up as a schoolmaster because he
gets expelled from the school for indecent behaviour. This school is nowhere near what any reader
would expect it to be. It s absolutely a joke.
Waugh continues this narrative conversational tone to continue PennyfeatherВґs story. He makes it
seem normal that Church and Gargoyle, again a name Dickens might have chosen to represent the
contrast between the good church and the evil looking gargoyles, can get him a job without the
necessary qualifications, even though testimonials are requested. They decide he is fit for the post
even though he does not know German. Similarly, he is told to give organ lessons to Beste
Chetwynde. Not one of the characters at Llanabba Castle, including the lead Augustus Fagan
Esquire, as he likes too be addressed, seems at all concerned with education, or qualified to
educate. Church and Gargoyle have it in the forth category, that of bad schools. Dr. Fagan
interviews for a few minutes and calls it A most exhausting interview . The

matter what type of government was imposed. The relations within a nation depend on, ..the
stage of development reached by its production an its internal and external intercourse, (Marx,
4).Therefore, Marx states that the way civilians are treated depends on production of goods and
services. Therefore, it can be argued that citizens of El Salvador were subjugated during
colonization because of the way cash crops were being exploited. Things slowly began to change
when people revolted against this mode of production. Marx would argue that the Salvadoran Civil
War began because of materialistic motives such as the change from feudalistic policies to more
industrialized ones which is evident in its history. Marx argued that the mode of production... Show

In sum, ..circumstances make men just as much as men make circumstances, (Marx, 12). In
regards to El Salvador the land and cash crops along with the relationships between the government
and the working class are what shaped El Salvador s history, which is evident. Therefore, under
Historical Materialism, the and political construction of El Salvador is decided by the relationships
built on production. During the colonization the political structure was decided through the way
money was being produced which was through the subjugation of native Salvadorans. Marx would
argue that the subjugation of the native El Salvadorans was because, The class which has the
means of material production at its disposal has control at the same time over the mans of mental
production... the ideas of this who lack the means of mental production are subject to it, (Marx, 15).
Thus, the native Salvadorans were the ones lacking mental production and therefore, were subject
to it. This changed during the time of industrialization where the working class had more power and

Michael Jackson Overcoming Obstacles
Michael Jackson
Have you ever had to overcome obstacles? I know I have. Michael Joseph Jackson was born on
August 29,1958 in Gary, Indiana. He lived in a small house with eight other siblings(Pratt,16).
Growing up Michael s family learned music through watching and hearing their father, but many
things with their father took a big turn. As life continued, Joe Jackson took interest in his boys
musical talent and started a band called, The Jackson 5.
They began doing small gigs to opening acts for many big top artists. Soon they began to hit the
charts, becoming the big talk of the town and a big hit with and for Motown Records. As all things,
they must come to an end. The Jackson 5 went their separate ways, only one continued their big

Joe Jackson was known for being too violent to his children. He was known for hitting the kids
regularly for disobeying(Pratt, 18). Growing up Michael and his siblings weren t allowed to
play with kids in the neighborhood and they were very afraid of him(Pratt, 18). His father
whooped his son for popping a string on his guitar and that was the night they became a musical
group. When they started to have stardom every decision was made through their father. When
you re a show business child, you really don t have the maturity to understand a great deal of
what is going on around you. People make a lot of decisions concerning your life when you re
out of the room. So here s what I remember. I remember singing at the top of my voice and
dancing with real joy and working too hard for a child. Of course, there are many details, I don t
remember at all. I do remember the Jackson 5 taking off when I was eight or nine, Michael Jackson.

and performing everyday for hours. The pressure of being the best got to them all and made them

Essay about The Reasons Hitler Became Chancellor
The Reasons Hitler Became Chancellor
After over ten years of trying, in 1933 Hitler and the Nazis had almost fulfilled their goal to hold
all power in Germany. The Nazis were by far the most powerful party in the Reichstag holding the
most seats, and Hitler being made Chancellor, but it wasn t that simple, in fact it was very
complicated. There were several big contributors to Hitler becoming Chancellor.
The Great Depression, one the worst times for Germany, and countries across the world. Germany
was the worst hit country because America had to recall it s big loans it had given Germany as
they could no longer afford it, this meant Germany could not afford to reparations to the allies. ...

This gave the Nazis ideas to base their propaganda around the Weimar s weaknesses, which proved
to be very popular with the working class and unemployed.
The Nazi tactics was one of their strong points that proved to become very successful, although
they had a very radical change after the Munich Putsch. Hitler decided they were going to win
fair and square through voting instead of using force. Their main tactic was to end democracy
and have one strong dictator, Hitler. They had tried democracy and it had failed. They may have
gone from using force to voting into power, but that still used intimidation to put fear into people
to scare people into supporting the Nazis, they acted like bullies. They tried to cause as much
chaos as possible without making it obvious it was them because chaos caused democracy to
fail. The Nazis tactics were to try and make it as obvious as they could they were carrying out
their propaganda to try and deceive people they were honest and true, and won more votes through
this. Hitler was dedicated to careful planning of his tactics to make sure everything would work, so
the more power the Nazis had, the more chance Hitler stood becoming Chancellor and one step
closer to ruling Germany.
The Nazi ideas were often fanatical and eccentric, usually affecting a lot of people. The strongest
idea was most likely to be the strong hatred they had for

Fitness And Physical Fitness
Flat, glass like water, crisp air, the sun rising effortlessly in the distance with the consistent click
and clack of the oars sliding in the oarlocks; the whirl of the wheels sliding up and down the seat
track. Squeeze and fire of each muscle through the stroke, a faint burning of hard work becoming
apparent in each section of the body as the morning draws on. Soon the sculler pulls into the dock,
sweat glistening on their forehead, water dripping off the hull of the boat as they hoist it over their
head. As the shell is washed and set on the racks, this athlete is ready to tackle the day. Throughout
history, sports have held a constant roll in culture and personal development, providing exercise,
excitement, and enjoyment. The benefits of physical activity continue to be as relevant today as in
the past with growing awareness of physical fitness and mental health. This essay will explore sport
in its contribution to a sound and stable mind, a healthy body and lifestyle, and a sustainable drive
for success that will follow the athlete throughout life.

puffing, the producer of the reverberating footsteps appears galloping up the street; soon the
weight of an eventful day will be lifted. Stress plays a prevalent role in the lives of most people,
as it can be crippling and have impactful consequences that affect areas of life which previously

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech To The Virginia Convention...
Patrick Henry, a representative of a frontier region in Virginia, in his Speech to the Virginia
Convention warns the representatives of the Virginia Convention that based on their previous feud,
the British have shown that they are not ones to be trusted. At the time of the speech, the British
had offered the colonist a deal to relieve taxes on the condition that they will fully support British
rule and will contribute to the maintenance of English troops. Within the speech, Henry reminds the
representative of Britain s past tyrannical behavior and remarks on the past treatment they received
prior to the time of the Convention. Along with an exasperated and satirical tone, Henry utilizes
rhetorical appeals to persuade the representatives of the VirginiaConvention to not accept Britain s
deal and to instead take up arms against them. Henry opens up his speech using ethical appeals,
establishing credibility and showing his values as a representative. Before going on to explain
his take on the situation, Henry first acknowledges the opinions of the representative, knowing
that his speech can lead to some extent of controversy. He states, I hope that it will not be
thought disrespectful to those gentlemen, if, as entertaining as I do, opinions of a character very
opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve (Henry). By first
acknowledging the opinions of the representatives, Henry establishes himself as a considerate
person, and shows that although he has strong opinions of the situations, he still will respect the
decisions and opinions of the representatives. The audience is then lead to fully look into his
idea as a viable option, as he shows strong moral character. Continuing on, Henry goes forth to
show his dedication for the country, explaining that, For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it
may cost, I am willing to know the worst and to provide for it. So by showing his willingness of
sacrificing his happiness for the sake of the country, Henry displays to the representative that his
priorities will always lie with America first; thus, this leads the representatives to fully entrust
Henry as he shows that he will always do what s best for the country as he cares

Case Study Of Eprit And Zara
Esprit has positioned in a different market segment from rivals like Zara, H M and Mango. The
Esprit woman describes tis typical customer, should be in their 30s and care more about the
quality and value of a product than its price. Most other fast fashion retailers are more price driven
and target mainly youngsters aged from 15 to 20 years old.
Another major difference between Esprit and Zara is their respective business models. Esprit now
has around half of its sales revenue coming from wholesale, while Zara adopts a vertical business
and takes control of the sales of all its products.
Despite the differences, there are always elements Esprit can learn from Zara. One thing it has
learned is how to deliver products faster to the market. For part of its collections since June,
Esprit has shortened the time needed to delivering new product lines to stores from the original
six months to a period of eight to 12 weeks. The key to achieving this is to cancel the lead time
for wholesalers to make selections and orders but ask them to reserve part of their budget for what
the clothier will offer them.

Financial Health Of A Company
Liquidity Ratios The financial health of a business greatly depends on its ability to maintain
current commitments and obligations. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets
to meet short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence
of a company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash
control is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools,
such as liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current
business obligations, should the debtneeds to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate
financial strength. Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool,
using data, which are readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these
assessments. These ratios are critical to creditors and are the most widely used ratios, perhaps next
to profitability ratios. (Joe Lan, 2002) Liquidity ratios include current ratio, quick ratio (also
referred to as acid test ratio), net working capital ratio, and cash ratio. Current ratio is the most basic
or fundamental of the four and focuses mainly on current assets, while quick ratio is more stringent,
eliminating inventoryand prepaid expenses, as both are more difficult to liquidate (Morningstar,
2016). Cash ratio is the most conservative , as it mainly focuses on cash and investments

Interpreting the Handmaid s Tale
Interpreting The Handmaid s Tale
The Handmaid s Tale is distinguished by its various narrative and structural divisions. It contains
four different levels of narrative time: the pre Revolution past, the time of the Revolution itself, the
Gileadean period, and the post Gileadean period (LeBihan 100). In addition, the novel is divided
into two frames, both with a first person narrative. Offred s narrative makes up the first frame,
while the second frame is provided by the Historical Notes, a transcript of a lecture given by a
Cambridge professor. The distinctions in structure and narrative perspective parallel the separation
of Gileadean residents into different social roles.
Offred s narrative is mainly of the Gileadean period, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the instance of women in the novel, this power comes from their indispensable role in the
propagation of society. As Offred tells her story, she incorporates the stories of other women into
her narrative. Her voice multiplies to become the voice of women rather than the voice of a single
narrator (133). Thus, The Handmaid s Taleisn t just Offred s protest against her oppressive
condition, but the collective protest of every woman.
The Historical Notes comprising the second frame of the novel provide an important shift in
perspective. The Notes are a transcript of a lecture given by the professor, Darcy Pieixoto, at an
academic symposium on Gileadean Studies two hundred years after Gilead has become ancient
history. The reader finds out that Pieixoto and his colleague are the ones responsible for the
transcription and editing of the handmaid s story. (As it turns out, Offred s account is not actually
written, but recorded onto cassette tapes). Pieixoto treats Offred s story in a scientific and
detached manner. For him, her account is merely a resource for gaining knowledge of the former
Gilead Republic.
The shift from Offred as narrator to Pieixoto as narrator does two things. First, it signifies Offred
s inability to make her voice heard; the voice of the male narrator in the last part of the novel
threatens to drown out Offred s voice and the significance of her autobiography. Secondly, it leaves
readers with the challenge of

Similarities Between Zoroastrianism
Zoroastrianism, founded by the prophet Zoroaster, is the oldest of the monotheistic religions that
began in ancient Persia, around 1500BC, becoming the predominant religion in the ancient Near
East during the Persian reigns of the Achaemenid, Parthian and Sasanian Empires, from 550BC to
651AD. The following of is a list of just a few of the similarities between Zoroastrians and Judaism,

Lakota Sacrifice Essay
Throughout many years of hardship and struggle, the Lakota have remained remarkable in many
ways. When some people would have failed and given up, the Lakota were determined to survive
and save their culture. The tests and trials put on them made them stronger and made them work
harder to hold onto their culture. Basically, despite such unbelievable tribulations brought upon
them, many Lakota have remained true to their virtues. Everyone in this world has had to
sacrifice something. In the creation story, the Lakota who remained behind sacrificed himself to
become the buffalo in order to provide food, shelter, and supplies for making tools to his people.
Many times I have had to sacrifice pride to remain peaceful and avoid confrontation. Sacrifice
means not purchasing the bracelet you think is neat so you can get your mom one instead because
you know she will appreciate and use it more than you would. Sacrifice has no flaws when it is

Screwtape Letter
Discerning Between Good and Evil Spirits The Screwtape Letters is an inverted approach to
Christianity that parallels the ideals in Ignatian spirituality. In a discussion of hell as a means of
business, an Uncle, Screwtape, writes letters of psychological insight for his nephew, Wormwood,
to coax his subject into turning towards Hell. Though C.S. Lewis writes from the perspective of
demons, this organically highlights the truths of Christianity. Screwtape pushes Wormwood to have
the patient discover evil in every dimension of his life as the patient begins to become a follower of
Christianity. To note, the Christian Godis labeled as the Enemy whereas the Devil is labeled as Our
Father Below . In order to turn the subject away... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Ignatuis sees God present in our daily lives and our creator, so does Screwtape who pushes
Wormwood to distort this image. For example, Screwtape advises, keep him praying to it to the
thing he has made, not to the Person who has made him (Lewis 18). Screwtape respects God as
seen by the capitalization of the word Enemy and wants the patient to focus on the opposite of
God s virtues because God s love can prove his existence. The demons must work around God
and have their subjects focus on themselves not God. Furthermore, Wormwood has the subject
work with God through God s grace which protects subjects from the temptations of the devil.
Screwtape goes on to criticize Wormwood s ignorance when Wormwood, allowed [the patient]
two real positive Pleasures...[for] when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than
ever (64 65). God wants his followers to be wholly him and wholly themselves. It is loving God
back when a person is him/herself. Screwtape realizes the faults in letting him act, but the subject
only becomes more humble as Wormwood dismisses said advice. The third way in which the
spirit works is a vision of love. Screwtape berates the Enemy s philosophy of love that [t]hings are
to be many, yet somehow also one (94). God claims to be the Father, the Son,

Critical Analysis Of E. H. Carr
What is History? This is the question posed by historian E.H. Carr in his study of historiography.
Carr debates the ongoing argument which historians have challenged for years, on the possibility
that history could be neutral. In his book he discusses the link between historical facts and the
historians themselves. Carr argues that historycannot be objective or unbiased, as for it to become
history, knowledge of the past has been processed by the historian through interpretation and
evaluation. He argues that it is the necessary interpretations which mean personal biases whether
intentional or not, define what we see as history. A main point of the chapter is that historians select
the facts they think are significant which ultimately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Carr rebuts this, as he states that the belief in a hard core of historical facts existing
objectively and independently of the interpretation of the historian is a preposterous fallacy, but one
which it is very hard to eradicate. This statement explains the misconception that history is made up
entirely of facts without the interference of opinion and biases. Carr s argument is that for facts to
become historical facts they must be interpreted and analyzed by the historian. This requires the
process of selecting facts, evaluating and interpreting them, which inevitable will contain certain
elements of personal prejudices. It is based on this reasoning which he therefore claims that facts
can only become historical once they have been selected by a historian and this is what makes
them significant. He therefore questions the extent to which a historian could be objective as
experience could affect what we perceive as being important, meaning that historians are
determining what the facts of the past are according to the own biases and agendas, whether they
are consciously or unconsciously aware. Hence emphasising Carr s point that history is an
interpretation. He uses several examples to explain this for example it was the historian that
decided Caesar crossing the Rubicon was a significant event whilst ignoring the many others that
crossed it before and after him. Thus,

Mainstream News Media Analysis
Humans are generally social creatures. Let s face it, we all like to talk about things that matter to
us. From trending topics to small inconveniences, they are are usually discussed regardless of how
important it is. Whether you like to or not, you ll have to converse with people throughout most of
your life. Talking over people is not how to do it.
For a quick scenario on what this is like, just imagine that you re talking to someone, perhaps one
of your friends. You have a stance on a subject that you are really passionate about and discuss it

Hydraulic Fracturing
The Split Personality of Hydraulic Fracturing There is wide agreement among most experts and
the public that the current energy sources we use in the United States are in need of a replacement.
Reliance on the fossil fuels of coal and oil are problematic for at least two reasons: their negative
impact on the environment (both in extraction and their use) and the reliance on supplies of these
from other countries, which has created problems on the geopolitical front. Nuclear fission remains
a controversial alternative, considering the risks involved in a catastrophic meltdown and the lack
of a long term waste storage solution. The successful development of horizontal drilling by the
energy industry coupled with the existing technology of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So what s problem? It is the coupling of the twin practices of horizontal drilling and hydraulic
fracturing that allows for the extraction of shale bound natural gas deposits. It is the combination of
those techniques along with the inherent properties of the shale and the natural gas bound in the
rock that has led to a maelstrom of controversy. Unexplained health problems, contaminated
groundwater, mysterious earthquakes, poisonous wastewater, and surprisingly increased carbon
footprint have all been linked to the modern practice of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas. What
are the facts backing up those claims? Is fracking hazardous to our health? Before addressing these
key questions, the economic and geopolitical benefits of our natural gas bounty should be
examined. The economic and political benefits of increased natural gas usage are frequently touted.
Since oil imports account for about half of the U.S. trade deficit (Williamson) then any reduction in
our reliance on foreign oil would certainly have some impact. More significantly, as McGlynn notes
geopolitical turmoil has put foreign sources at risk (1052). Disruption of these sources, mainly from
the Persian Gulf, continues to haunt the foreign policy of the United States. Our continued
dependence on this Middle Eastern petroleum pipeline paints our nation s administrations in a
corner when taking a stand against human rights violations, rigged elections, and other practices to

The Integrated Marketing Communications Textbook
Chapter seven of the Integrated Marketing Communications textbook was discussed in great detail
during weeks nine and ten of the semester. This section of the book addresses how online and
interactive communications play a vital role towards interactions in the modern world. The goal of
this chapter is to effectively incorporate online advertisements to deliver messages to dedicated
consumers. Over the course of this paper, it will become clear as to how a current news article
applies theory from lectures and the textbook to enhance online communications. The Globe and
Mail newspaper article depicts a Toronto police officer using Twitter to encourage students to treat
one another with respect, demonstrate to adults that not all cops are bad people, and emphasize
the importance of online communications in a technologically developed society. Officer Chris
Boddy s objective is to show respect and interest in the lives of others, to create a positive
reputation for himself and his police force.
Theory from chapter seven of the textbook explains that generation Y, those between 18 34 years
of age, are relying on online sources of media to obtain knowledge and understanding of what is
currently happening around the globe. Statistics Canada explains that 95% of Canadian households
have access to the Internet, with a monthly average of 45 hours spent online. Outside of the home,

Positive Impact Of Afforestation Essay
Science
Impact of Afforestation
Introduction:
What is Deforestation? Deforestation is the process of human cutting down trees and destroying the
habitats of animals and lives. People would certainly think that deforestation would not be
something good for the environment, and afforestation would cause a positive impact on the
environment. Well, most people have his perspective like that. The scientist had found proofs that
afforestation has the negative impact on the habitats of animals and the whole environment. But
how this kind of activity would harm people and animals?
Environment: How do people and animals live? Well, they would need to depend on some biotic
and abiotic factors. Water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc. One of them is Oxygen, oxygen is one of
the factors that would have a big impact on human and animals. No oxygen, no us. Afforestation is
one of the ways to maintain oxygen from all those environmental problems we are right now facing
on this planet. Plants are producers, they use sunlight and carbon to do a process called
photosynthesis. When plants do this photosynthesis, they produce oxygen out. Trees are one of the
producers that use photosynthesis and brings oxygen to us. This is one of the benefits from
afforestation, but does this proofs that afforestation does more things that got positive impact?
During this couple of century, people had been giving the goal of afforestation. Although people
still had achieved some bits of the goal,

Light Absorption Research Paper
Light is said to be the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that all people can see. Many
people call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These
main colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of
different objects are determined by the interaction between lightand the electrons of the atoms that
make up an object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the
object, and it absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. Molecules have many states, two of
these states, are states where the electron is excited and neutral when it is originally found.
Molecules and atoms can only absorb light when the energy of a photonmatches the energy
difference between these two states.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The color wheel relates the wavelengths of transmitted light to absorbed light. Objects absorb
different amounts of white light, which is what makes an object have its unique color. The white
light is what in turn makes color. While there were many theories throughout history on light, the
first theories about light were created by the Ancient Greeks. These theories tried to describe
light as a ray which moved directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of
the right triangle that was made up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that
came out of a person s eye and hit an object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light
hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces off. A reflected ray always comes off the surface of a
material at an angle equal to the angle at which the incoming ray hit the surface. However, when
light bounces off a rough surface, light reflects at numerous angles

Rhetorical Analysis Of Toyota
Being in a spiralling economy, the automobile industry must step up their games to produce
attractive advertisements. Creativity is crucial to attract potential buyers and gain more sales. To
target specific prospects through ads, the automobile industry usually apply rhetoric concepts to
enhance their product s appeal in every way, and not just purely on the automobiledesigns. As men
are the main target audience, car ads are usually being advertised as appealing and dangerous.
Nevertheless, there are other important aspects to be highlighted as well, which can be perfectly

effectiveness of the brake in unexpected situation, as the reliability has its limitations.
Therefore, it can be said that Toyota cars can be used by everyone and everywhere, however, the
attitude of the driver is still very important. Looking at how the commercial emphasize on the
calmness and the family being the passengers, for instance, the mother looking back to check out
on the son after the near death experience or the pre collision, Toyota is trying to show how
important it is to take safety measure seriously as the driver is responsible over the life of others
passengers. The emotional aspect from this scenario might not be magnified into a tensely or
panicking mode, yet subtly leaves an impact to the audience to always care about other people in
the car and the external surrounding. Toyota is proving that their vehicle is safe for family use,
and while they will keep manufacturing better designs and systems for their users, the driving
attitude is important too. The ad does not show reckless driving of any sort, to prove that even
when we drive at a slow pace, accidents can still happen and can be caused by external factors.
Therefore, with a good driving attitude and Toyota vehicles, the risk can be

The Blood Wedding written by Federico Garcia Lorca is a tragic love story focusing on women
and two men who love her. It was first performed in Madrid in march 1933.The play has many

In Blood Wedding the wealthy bridegroom lives alone with his mother. The mother lost her

think this is very interesting because this gives us the foreshadow of what s about to happen in
the play. Her action which was spitting on the bride showed very strong hate and disgrace
towards the bride which I think is very stronger than just slapping her. In this play, the style of

see the actors clearly without their back facing towards me. The role of a wife was played by
Drew Beaubian. What I really liked about her character is that she is very innocent and unaware of
her husband love for another woman who turns out be her cousin. She worries about her family. I
was expecting there to be a lot of crying once the mother and wife finds out about the death the

Narrative Essay On Christmas Eve
What do you and your family do on Christmas Eve? Do you consider what you do a tradition or
maybe even a basic tradition? On Christmas Eve, most families end the night watching a
Christmas movie or maybe baking some cookies. But my family does not necessarily go by that.
Around ten o clock my cousins and I gather around the top of my grandparents stairs, waiting for a
knock on the door or the sound of bells with our Christmasonesie on. Every year Santa pays a visit
to my grandparents house with gifts for everyone. Once we all get a present we open it up at the
same time, I never saw anyone frowning. I enjoy how my familytradition is still alive and brings
everyone together, and I hope this tradition will be carried on to my own children.
So who is this Santa?? Well really no one knows besides the parents. Let s just say my family
knows a guy. Now that I am no longer a young one , sitting on a unknown mans lap and him
telling you how much you have grown since the last time he has seen me is just a little creepy.
But besides that it is mainly focused on how everyone still follows this tradition and how my
family still gets into it. My grandparents are the ones to organize the night out. That includes food,
the names for secret santa, pictures and of course having santa stop by with a special delivery. So
knowing my grandparents put so much effort into it making sure it is a memorable night for
everyone, makes me realize how important the tradition is to everyone. This

Shakespeare s play, King Lear is quite renowned and the folly of the ancient King is a
great example of how not to handle family relationships. The question has been proposed
if King Lear is redeemed when reunited with Cordelia. King Lear does achieve a kind of
redemption when he is reunited with Cordelia in Acts IV and V of the tragedy. What kind
of redemption he achieves is open to interpretation. In order to understand the King s
redemption, it must be determined what the King is redeemed from. Once this sin is

Essay on The Holy Trinity, by Masaccio
Masaccio s famous religious painting, The Holy Trinity , is known for the engagement of linear
perspective to create an image that goes beyond just paint on canvas, (or should I say wall?) by
creating the illusion of depth. This painting addresses many religious concepts by setting up
different levels and layers in the constructed space. The characters depicted are made up of four
groups of human figures, which include the Trinity(God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the
Virgin Mary and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the
picture. There is an apparent point of separation, which is made clear due to each group being on
separate levels. Their difference in power is fundamental feature in... Show more content on

The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s
placement of the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the
divine in comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed
beneath the cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which
indicates that man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods
importance in comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives
viewpoint. Masaccio s manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine
Trinity and closest to the skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to
God s divinity. This demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up
to Christ for salvation and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it.
The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a
visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point
is approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows
for both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual
structure. While this created space within the picture appears to be real, it is actually just one of the

Introduction
Enzymes are proteins, in which it speeds up the chemical reaction. Enzymes can be seen as proteins
of adjustments of chemical reactions, and they are macromolecules. Enzymes are made from amino
acids. When an enzyme if established, it is produced by linking combined between 100 and 1,000
amino acids in a very particular and distinctive sequence (How stuff works, 2017). Their 3D
structure determines their function. Enzymes are essential to life because they accelerate metabolic
reactions to a very great expansion, but do not experience any change in themselves (WebFinance,
2017). Catalyst helps the reaction transpire rapidly or more regularly. Enzymes can make some
positive charged making the reaction easier to happen. The molecule that is going to bind with the
enzymes is called substrate. A substance that speeds up chemical reaction without being a reactant
is called a catalyst (Khan Academy, 2017). They all bind together at the active site, where the

These high numbers are mostly because of a big litter that was unplanned. Removing a pet s

How The Media Creates Beauty Standards And Shine A Light...
For many years, society has been told by the media that there a certain way that people should
look. We are shown that true beauty in what we see in the media and advertisements. They
celebrities and models in the media are beautiful, symmetric, flawless and perfect in all the right
places. There is something that society needs to realize. Society is being fooled. The beauty
shown in media is not realistic and it is not obtainable. For our public advocacy project, we want
to dispel media s beauty standards and shine a light on the truth. The truth is that the media
creates beauty standards with the use of Photoshop. Photoshop involves altering body features
to be more appealing and beautiful. This is done by the use of lighting, angles, computer
techniques and props. In this reflection, we will discuss the text and videos we analyzed, the
problematic agenda of Photoshop, the media product we developed, what social media we used
to get our word out, the advantages and disadvantages of social media, our goals and outcome
and how we applied the Freire s Model to our project. A lot is done to make people unrealistically
beautiful, and our group would like to bring an end to the false idea of beauty presented by the

Market Revolution And The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution during the 19th Century led to the rapid expanse of cotton production in
America. Several new inventions began to be used which could more efficiently use cotton and
other similar materials to aid in the production of textiles. During that time, the textile industry was
big and the demand for cottoncontinued to grow however the price of cotton never increased to
match the demand. Slaves were taken advantage of and because their labor was so cheap it was
beneficial to slave owners to collect cotton using slave labor and trade the cotton for a profit.
Great Britain was the worlds most powerful country and a large part of that countries industrial
life was cotton textiles. America became Britain s biggest trade partner for cotton and the increase
in trade allowed America to build on its own and gain a bigger variety of goods through trade. The
cotton industry was one of the biggest influences of America s growth in the 19th Century and slave
labor was used to ensure its expansion could continue throughout the years.
Mass production was a major technological achievement all over the world especially in newly
developing areas. Factory jobs were becoming wildly available and the demand for the materials
used in these factories increased exponentially. The southern states were more focused on gaining
profit through agriculture, however the tobacco economy in these states was beginning to fail. With

Caliban in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay
The Tempest, considered by many to be Shakespeare s farewell to the theatre, has of all his plays
the most remarkable interpretive richness. The exceptional flexibility of Shakespeare s stage is
given particular prominence in The Tempest due to its originality and analytic potential, in
particular in the presentation of one of his most renowned and disputed characters, Caliban.
Superficially portrayed in the play as a most detestable monster, Caliban does not evoke much

In the introduction to Critical Essays on Shakespeare s The Tempest, Editor Alden T. Vaughan
describes how the commonly accepted view of Prospero s character was that of a wise and

Indeed, before the beginning of the nineteenth century Prospero was presented as thus, while
Caliban as an abominable, inhuman beast. As the play drew a greater audience worldwide
however, that view began to change and post colonial interpretations began to present themselves
in which Caliban was cast in a more empathic light. These critics noted how easily the figure of
Caliban converges with the image of the cannibal, the mythical savage whom many European
travellers claimed to have encountered. The name Caliban even seems to be a pointed anagram of
cannibal . Since that time, views have changed on the savagery of those natives and with it, on the
savagery of Caliban.
In the 1978 Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Tempest, David Suchet played a
humanized, though exploited, third world Caliban, possibly a representative African or West
Indian. This interpretation draws on many views that Caliban represents a subjugated native and
that the relationship between Prospero and Caliban is, in fact, a relationship between the
oppressor, and the oppressed. Indeed, the island was Caliban s before Prospero and Miranda arrived
where he was then reduced to being a slave.

Clicktivism Book Report
How Clicktivism Killed the Activist Since it s conception, the resounding sentiment at the heart of
any activist movement has been the desire to have one s voice heard. The common ambition of
activists of every kind has always been to represent the needs and injustices of the marginalized
communities in question, and in doing so, to bring about change. Margaret Mead, a cultural
anthropologist, and an outspoken feminist once said, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world; indeed it s the only thing that ever has. However, in
recent years, activism has begun to take on a very different form. This once small group of
thoughtful and committed citizens dedicated to justice have multiplied exponentially... Show more

Much of the incentive to become an activist is to be a part of a movement; an integral cog in the
changing of history. One indisputable benefit of social media is its ability to effectively inform
millions of people at once; this is infinitely powerful. The interactive format of social networking
invites individuals to educate themselves on an issue and then to contribute to it, all in under ten
minutes. Despite its efficiency, the detriment of this system is that it perpetuates the idea that the
signing of a change.org petition is all it takes to make a difference. Grassroots activism and
petitioning, while absolutely fundamental parts of the pursuit of social justice are often only the
inciting steps in the lengthy and usually complicated process of creating lasting change. In 2014,
in the wake of the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice, to name just a few, an
international movement protesting police brutality began with the hashtag #blacklivesmatter. The
issue of racially induced police brutality became a relevant topic of debate in the presidential
election that followed, and protests took place worldwide. This movement is winning a major
battle in the war against racism and much of this success was owed to its sensational presence on
social media. The Black Lives Matter movement is an example of social networking being an
invaluable tool in spreading

Thiazide Diuretic Essay
Thiazides are diuretic that works on removing extracellular fluid from the body. It is used in heart
failure and hypertensive patients. Thiazide diuretic works primarily in the distal tubular of the
kidneys. Diuretics affects the electrolyte balance and reduce blood pressure in the body and
therefore should be monitored closely. Thiazide diureticworks by decreasing plasma volume which
reduces venous return and diminishes cardiac output causing bloodpressure to fall. This change in
plasma volume with a diuretic can stimulate both the sympathetic nervous system and the renin
angiotensin aldosterone system. The degree in which these systems activate governs the magnitude
of acute blood pressure decrease with both diuretic monotherapy and diuretics given in combination

During the first few weeks of treatment, plasma volume returns to slightly less that pretreatment
levels, despite the continued administration of a diuretic. In the chronic phase of treatment, the
vasodepressor influence of a diuretic emerges as a process driven by a reduction in total
peripheral resistance (Sica, 2004). According to Woo Robinson (2015), thiazide and loop diuretics
decrease the renal excretion of lithium and may induce lithium toxicity. Thiazide diuretic is one of
the drugs that have been there for many years to treat high blood pressure. This drug works in such
of way that it excretes sodium and chloride out of the body; it lowers arterial pressure resulting in
vasodilation and reduces cardiac output by decreasing extracellular fluid and plasma volume
(American Heart Association, 2016). One of the major problems associated with thiazide diuretic is
hypokalemia which can in result effect the kidneys (American Heart Association, 2016). It is
important to ensure that patients who are taking thiazide diuretics that their potassium level is
within range. Low potassium can lead to abnormal rhythms in the heart and can even cause the
heart to stop beating

KV Pharmaceuticals Case Study Essay
Introduction Business ethics is an extremely important topic in our world today. This is
especially true because of the fact that we live in a changing society where it has become
increasingly common to see more and more cases of companies that participate in illegal,
immoral and unethical activities. So that we can prevent these behaviors, it is necessary to study
and understand how these situations can occur and what we can do to prevent them from
happening. In this research paper, we will examine in detail the case of KV Pharmaceuticals,
also known as KV. We will discuss a few major areas of topic that include how and why these
events took place, as well as what could have been done to prevent them. Next, we will take a look

One month later, KV decided to recall some of the morphine sulfate it had distributed, and it also
filed a field alert report to the FDA informing them about their recall. KV immediately began an
internal investigation of their manufacturing process and their products; the investigation revealed
that not only were the morphine sulfate pills oversized, but the propafenone and
dextroamphetamine sulfate tablets as well. These oversized tablets can result in the patients
receiving almost twice the amount of the recommended dose, which can lead to fatal consequences.
Propafenone is an anti arrhythmic medication that treats illnesses associated with heart palpitations.
An overdose can cause low blood pressure or heart palpitations which may lead to death.
Dextroamphetamine sulfate is used to treat narcolepsy, ADHD in children, epilepsy and
parkinsonism; an overdose can lead to fatal poisoning (KV Pharmaceutical, 2010).
The complaints led to the inspection of KV by the FDA from December 2008 to February 2009; the
inspection results confirmed that KV Pharmaceuticals had a considerable amount of cGMP
violations, and even then they decided to manufacture unapproved drugs. While conducting the
inspection, the FDA also realized that ETHEX had never filed the field alert reports concerning the
oversized propafenone and dextroamphetamine sulfate tablets, which is required under the Food,
Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This Act states that drug manufacturers must carefully

Feminism In Young Goodman Brown
The difference in attitude and treatment towards men and women from society is shown in Young
Goodman Brown ,in this case, I am going to analyze the anti feminist side. There are multiple
points in this short story that aid my point. The author, Nathaniel Hawthorne may have written this
based on his time when differences towards genders occurred. Women are portrayed as powerless
but rather innocent victims while men are seen as the more powerful individuals, making all the
decisions for them and their families. If people do not follow the roles their genderassociate with,
the conflicts between them and society may uprise with it. Faith, the newlywed wife of Goodman
Brown, is one of the main women who seems to be following a stereotypical role of a womanin her
time, or is she?As Young Goodman Brownopens up, Faith is seen as a little girl rather than a
newlywed woman. In the second paragraph, it states, A lone woman is troubled with such dreams
and such thoughts that she s afeard of herself sometimes. and in the sixth paragraph, ...he looked
back and saw the head of Faith still peeping after him with a melancholy air, in spite of her pink
ribbons. These quotes portray Faith as an irresponsible woman who is afraid to be alone ,without
her husband, and is not capable of taking care of herself. Speaking about Faith s pink ribbons, they
symbolize tainted innocence, which is contradicting to a woman s pure appearance. Faith s tainted
innocence is proven later in the

Antisocial Personality Theory vs. Social Structure Theory...
Criminology is the scientific study of knowledge in which crime is considered as a social
happening. The study of Criminology includes the ways and methods of breaking laws, making
laws and social/media/cultural reactions of the society to crime. There have been many theories as
to why people commit crime, no one can decide on just one theory to explain this. Two popular
theories as to why people commit crime are antisocial personality theory and social structure theory.
The aspects behind these theories make the most reliable sense as to why people commit the crimes
that they do.
Antisocial personality theory is a combination of traits, such as hyperactivity, impulsivity,
hedonism, and inability to empathize with others, that make a ... Show more content on

It is stated that psychopaths are thrill seekers that engage in high risk antisocial behavior just to
raise their neurological arousal level.
Psychopaths possibly have brain abnormalities which cause them to process emotions much
differently than someone that is not a psychopath. With considering these personality traits, it is
not shocking that researchers have shown that people diagnosed as a psychopath are more likely
to engage in criminal and also violent behavior compared to people consider non psychopathic. It
is known that psychopaths keep going on with their criminal careers long after others have aged
out of their criminal behavior. Psychopaths are continuously in trouble and are more likely to end
up in the penal institutions. Once these prisoners are released, they are three times more likely to
re offend in a year and four more times likely to re offend violently, compared to non psychopaths.
Antisocial personality disorder is highly unresponsive to any form of treatment, main reason why
is because people that have ASPD rarely ever seek treatment on their own. If an individual does
decide to seek help, it is usually to find a relief from their depression or emotional distress.
Although there are medications that are effective in treating some of the symptoms of the disorder,
noncompliance with medication regimens or abuse of the drugs prevents the widespread use of
these medications. ( Mental Disorders. ). The most successful treatment for people

Persuasive Essay On Latin American Cinema
Dr. Strange and others films like it are not as strange to viewers as Hollywood would like us to
believe. Hollywood Cinema has been a dominating force ever since its inception in the early 20th
century. From Columbus, to California, and even Colombia; Hollywood cinema has had its
impact on the market while displacing other types of cinema. I believe Latin American Cinema
does not get as fairly distributed as it should and I feel we should appreciate it more because of this.
Columbus is a fairly diverse city with Latinos making up about 6% of the population. However, it s
cinemas are not. AMC, Cinemark, and Regal Cinemas are the big names in town that feed the
population Hollywood blockbusters like Dr. Strange, Suicide Squad, The Accountant, and so on.

Constantly having to search different theaters, and even then having to check multiple websites
online may seem like a hassle and not even worth your time. I believe it is this struggle that
creates an appreciation for Latin American cinema. Hollywood films are a dime a dozen to come
by. Just walk into any major theater and you are hit with all these films claiming to be new,
different, and exciting. The struggle of having to search for Latin American cinema gives it some
of its value. The effort you put in is added to the satisfaction you reap from being able to sit down
and enjoy a film, a film that not many others have had the privilege of being exposed to. We
wouldn t appreciate gold if it weren t so rare, and we wouldn t appreciate Latin American films
for the same reason. As ironic as it sounds, I thank Hollywood for being such a dominating force,
because without it there wouldn t be such an enthusiastic appreciation for Latin American Cinema
by the few who are able to enjoy it. They say art if for the sufferers, I believe Latin American

Why Federal Communication Commission Has Legal Authority...
Alaina Case
Professor Powers
Final Paper
JOUR 3060
Due Date: 4 May 2015
Section I
In order to understand why Federal Communication Commission has legal authority to regulate
media ownership and should be allowed to continue to regulate media ownership, you must first
know the statues that gave way to the regulation. The FCC was created by the Communications Act
of 1934. The Communications Act of 1934 replaced the Radio Act of 1927, and the FCC
superseded the FRC (Federal Radio Commission). This act called for the government to regulate
in the public interest and foreign communications by radio and wire. The FCC can be traced back
to the Wireless Ship Act of 1910. The Wireless Ship Act of 1910 required large ships to have
wireless equipment and radio operators on board...made it illegal not to retransmit or answer
wireless transmissions from ships. This law was the first U.S. regulation on devices that used
electromagnetic spectrum. The Chain Broadcasting Rules, was the first national ownership limit
passed by the FCC in 1941. These rules regulated major national radio networks, in relation to local
stations. These regulations also included a structural ownership rule limiting a radio network from
owning more than one broadcast station within a market area, reflecting the Commission s earlier
presumption that a single entity holding more than one broadcast license in the same community
contravened the public interest. This idea was upheld in the Supreme Court

The History of Training As stated earlier in the paper the course content has undergone several
changes over the past 10 years. The beauty industry has continued to grow nationally through the
economic downturn, with an 18 percent increase in the number of salons nationwide over the
past three years. The cosmetology industry never dies down, even in a recession, says Michelle
Woodard, admissions coordinator for Douglas J Aveda Institute in Grand Rapids. Everyone will
always want to look beautiful. At the outset of this period there was little demand for specialised
treatments. Therefore, the training requirements were geared up to obtain a standard set of skills
for all graduates. Over the past 3 years, as treatments become more varied, the courses have had
to adapt and offer more diverse qualifications. The awarding bodies have had to be aware that
during this period of transition too many employers remain confused and bewildered by the skills
infrastructure. (BBC News 13.11.08). This is due to the qualification constantly changing and
salon owners not being made aware of these changes. This has been a factor the awarding bodies
have had to consider when implementing any changes. Courses used to involve the student
attending college 5 days a week. This has been changed for two reasons. The colleges have looked
to reduce costs whilst maintaining the same level of attendees. Also, many students could not make

My Egg Autobiography
For my egg I took a piece of cardboard and cut it into a small square. Following that I cut three
slits in the cardboard in the form of a smaller square. I then took small popsicle sticks and put
them into the holes in the cardboard and then hot glued them to the cardboard. To lessen the
impact I took rubber bands and attached them across the cardboard from the popsicle sticks. I
also did the same on the top with the egg in between. I also slowed the fall by creating a
parachute. To make the parachute I cut it out of a trash bag. After cutting the bag I cut six pieces
of yarn at eighteen inches each. The I taped the yarn to the bag at even places on the bag followed
by the same on the cardboard. When attaching the yarn

Existentialism In The 1967 Film The Graduate
The 1967 film, The Graduate is a classic film that is bound to stand the test of time. The fictional
story revolves around Benjamin Braddock, a 21 year old graduate who returns home from college
and is re introduced to his father s friend s wife, Mrs. Robinson. Through enticing conversation and
alluring conversation, Mrs. Robinsonseduces Ben. After an affair that lasts weeks with Mrs.
Robinson, Ben is introduced to and finds his heart to be with Elaine Robinson. Their relationship is
strengthened and after trials of hardship and rejection, but the taBen and Elaine marry regardless of
the wishes of their families. The film, directed by Mike Nichols, a German native, is riddled with
Existentialist, Marxist, Feminist, and Archetypal scenes and perspectives. Approaching the film
from the Existentialist lens, we find several examples throughout the film of when characters
follow an Existentialist viewpoint or outlook. An Existentialist typically questions their true
identity, the meaning of life, the meaning of their life, or the purpose of their life overall? The
movie starts up with Ben Braddock sitting on a plane bound for Los Angeles, which pans outward
to reveal passengers with blank, empty faces, a hint at Existentialisms belief that no one has
meaning or purpose. After Ben has landed, he leaves the airport, and in the background 3 arrows

In more simple terms, sexism is the false idea that one sex is superior or inferior to the other. In
sociology, sociologists focus on the differences that are determined by society, culture, and gender.
It is believed by social scientists that gender differences are not caused by biological differences.
Although humans are born male or female, individuals must learn and understand masculine or
feminine behaviors. Therefore, gender differences are a result of socialization, discrimination,
prejudice, and other forms of social control. For example, in the United States, a strong patriarchal
system is enforced among Mormon Fundamentalists. From a conflict and feministic perspective,
gender inequality or sexism exists because it benefits a group in the position of power and with
power to shape society. This power group is men. The theorists within these two perspectives argue
that as long as men maintain their social, economic, and cultural advantage within society that
women will remain in their subordinate position. This subordinate position women have within
society is linked to their relationship to the means of production (Leon Guerrero, 2014).
Statistically speaking, women who work 41 to 44 hours per week earn 84.6% of what men make
working similar hours. However, women who work more than 60 hours per week only earn about
78.3% of what men do. In addition,

  • 2. Career And Technical Education Programs Career and Technical Education programs, known in the profession simply as CTE, provide students an opportunity to prepare for a wide range of careers. Students are exposed many disciplines including health care, agriculture, business, and graphic design. Through these programs students get to explore various career paths and get hands on training, which will help them to be more employable as they transition into the workforce. Holland (2013) notes that, Despite stubbornly high unemployment, many employers complain that they can t find qualified candidates. Often, the mismatch results from applicants inadequate communication skills. As Holland points out, the need for skilled workers is extensive. In a time when unemployment rates are high there are plenty of people willing to work, but because of a shortage in literacy skills and experience, there are not many people able to work in these positions. Students who participate in CTE programs may be more prepared to enter the workforce because of the hands on experience they receive in the classroom and through co curricular programs such as DECA or FFA. In addition to not having experience, students are not employable because of their lack of communication skills. Students who are not literate are not able to communicate in writing with clients, coworkers, or a supervisor. An inability to express oneself effectively and coherently will render an individual unemployable. Why students are unable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Evelyn Waugh s Decline and Fall Evelyn Waugh s Decline and Fall Evelyn Waugh was born in 1903. He is not considered to be a distinguished novelist but his writing is notable because they satirise much that was bizarre in English society. His father was a publisher and his first novel, Decline and fall, was published in 1928. It is a satire on the preparatory school industry. It is in the style and humour of Charles Dickens. Evelyn Waugh achieves his purpose through exaggeration. He paints characters that are larger than life, just like Dickens. We also see this method used in today s television in programmes like Spitting Image where gargoyle like images of prominent personalities behave in an outrageous way. The descriptions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evelyn Waugh satirises the way that the school employs teachers. They don t care about qualifications needed to be a teacher; they just employ and rip you off. For example Paul Pennyfeather does not teach music but he has to. Paul later ends up as a schoolmaster because he gets expelled from the school for indecent behaviour. This school is nowhere near what any reader would expect it to be. It s absolutely a joke. Waugh continues this narrative conversational tone to continue PennyfeatherВґs story. He makes it seem normal that Church and Gargoyle, again a name Dickens might have chosen to represent the contrast between the good church and the evil looking gargoyles, can get him a job without the necessary qualifications, even though testimonials are requested. They decide he is fit for the post even though he does not know German. Similarly, he is told to give organ lessons to Beste Chetwynde. Not one of the characters at Llanabba Castle, including the lead Augustus Fagan Esquire, as he likes too be addressed, seems at all concerned with education, or qualified to educate. Church and Gargoyle have it in the forth category, that of bad schools. Dr. Fagan interviews for a few minutes and calls it A most exhausting interview . The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The relations within a nation depend on, ..the stage of development reached by its production an its internal and external intercourse, (Marx, 4).Therefore, Marx states that the way civilians are treated depends on production of goods and services. Therefore, it can be argued that citizens of El Salvador were subjugated during colonization because of the way cash crops were being exploited. Things slowly began to change when people revolted against this mode of production. Marx would argue that the Salvadoran Civil War began because of materialistic motives such as the change from feudalistic policies to more industrialized ones which is evident in its history. In regards to El Salvador the land and cash crops along with the relationships between the government and the working class are what shaped El Salvador s history, which is evident. Therefore, under Historical Materialism, the and political construction of El Salvador is decided by the relationships built on production. During the colonization the political structure was decided through the way money was being produced which was through the subjugation of native Salvadorans. Marx would argue that the subjugation of the native El Salvadorans was because, The class which has the means of material production at its disposal has control at the same time over the mans of mental production... the ideas of this who lack the means of mental production are subject to it, (Marx, 15). Thus, the native Salvadorans were the ones lacking mental production and therefore, were subject to it. He lived in a small house with eight other siblings(Pratt,16). Growing up Michael s family learned music through watching and hearing their father, but many things with their father took a big turn. As life continued, Joe Jackson took interest in his boys musical talent and started a band called, The Jackson 5. They began doing small gigs to opening acts for many big top artists. Soon they began to hit the charts, becoming the big talk of the town and a big hit with and for Motown Records. As all things, they must come to an end. Growing up Michael and his siblings weren t allowed to play with kids in the neighborhood and they were very afraid of him(Pratt, 18). His father whooped his son for popping a string on his guitar and that was the night they became a musical group. When they started to have stardom every decision was made through their father. When you re a show business child, you really don t have the maturity to understand a great deal of what is going on around you. People make a lot of decisions concerning your life when you re out of the room. So here s what I remember. I remember singing at the top of my voice and dancing with real joy and working too hard for a child. Of course, there are many details, I don t remember at all. The Nazis were by far the most powerful party in the Reichstag holding the most seats, and Hitler being made Chancellor, but it wasn t that simple, in fact it was very complicated. There were several big contributors to Hitler becoming Chancellor. The Great Depression, one the worst times for Germany, and countries across the world. The Nazi tactics was one of their strong points that proved to become very successful, although they had a very radical change after the Munich Putsch. Hitler decided they were going to win fair and square through voting instead of using force. Their main tactic was to end democracy and have one strong dictator, Hitler. They had tried democracy and it had failed. They may have gone from using force to voting into power, but that still used intimidation to put fear into people to scare people into supporting the Nazis, they acted like bullies. They tried to cause as much chaos as possible without making it obvious it was them because chaos caused democracy to fail. The Nazis tactics were to try and make it as obvious as they could they were carrying out their propaganda to try and deceive people they were honest and true, and won more votes through this. Hitler was dedicated to careful planning of his tactics to make sure everything would work, so the more power the Nazis had, the more chance Hitler stood becoming Chancellor and one step closer to ruling Germany. • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech To The Virginia Convention... Patrick Henry, a representative of a frontier region in Virginia, in his Speech to the Virginia Convention warns the representatives of the Virginia Convention that based on their previous feud, the British have shown that they are not ones to be trusted. At the time of the speech, the British had offered the colonist a deal to relieve taxes on the condition that they will fully support British rule and will contribute to the maintenance of English troops. Within the speech, Henry reminds the representative of Britain s past tyrannical behavior and remarks on the past treatment they received prior to the time of the Convention. Along with an exasperated and satirical tone, Henry utilizes rhetorical appeals to persuade the representatives of the VirginiaConvention to not accept Britain s deal and to instead take up arms against them. Henry opens up his speech using ethical appeals, establishing credibility and showing his values as a representative. Before going on to explain his take on the situation, Henry first acknowledges the opinions of the representative, knowing that his speech can lead to some extent of controversy. He states, I hope that it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen, if, as entertaining as I do, opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve (Henry). By first acknowledging the opinions of the representatives, Henry establishes himself as a considerate person, and shows that although he has strong opinions of the situations, he still will respect the decisions and opinions of the representatives. The audience is then lead to fully look into his idea as a viable option, as he shows strong moral character. Continuing on, Henry goes forth to show his dedication for the country, explaining that, For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the worst and to provide for it. So by showing his willingness of sacrificing his happiness for the sake of the country, Henry displays to the representative that his priorities will always lie with America first; thus, this leads the representatives to fully entrust Henry as he shows that he will always do what s best for the country as he cares ... The Esprit woman describes tis typical customer, should be in their 30s and care more about the quality and value of a product than its price. Most other fast fashion retailers are more price driven and target mainly youngsters aged from 15 to 20 years old. Another major difference between Esprit and Zara is their respective business models. Esprit now has around half of its sales revenue coming from wholesale, while Zara adopts a vertical business and takes control of the sales of all its products. Despite the differences, there are always elements Esprit can learn from Zara. One thing it has learned is how to deliver products faster to the market. For part of its collections since June, Esprit has shortened the time needed to delivering new product lines to stores from the original six months to a period of eight to 12 weeks. • 10. Financial Health Of A Company Liquidity Ratios The financial health of a business greatly depends on its ability to maintain current commitments and obligations. Liquidity or the ability to generate cash from current assets to meet short term obligations as well as unforeseen responsibility is important for the subsistence of a company. A reasonable level of liquidity is essential to the survival of a company, as poor cash control is one of the main reasons for business failure. (Pyke, 2007) Through utilization of tools, such as liquidity ratios, or financial metrics, to evaluate the company s ability to meet current business obligations, should the debtneeds to be settled, we are able to assess its immediate financial strength. Liquidity ratios provide creditors as well as businesses a quick analysis tool, using data, which are readily available from annual financial statements, to complete these assessments. These ratios are critical to creditors and are the most widely used ratios, perhaps next to profitability ratios. (Joe Lan, 2002) Liquidity ratios include current ratio, quick ratio (also referred to as acid test ratio), net working capital ratio, and cash ratio. Current ratio is the most basic or fundamental of the four and focuses mainly on current assets, while quick ratio is more stringent, eliminating inventoryand prepaid expenses, as both are more difficult to liquidate (Morningstar, 2016). • 11. Interpreting the Handmaid s Tale Interpreting The Handmaid s Tale The Handmaid s Tale is distinguished by its various narrative and structural divisions. It contains four different levels of narrative time: the pre Revolution past, the time of the Revolution itself, the Gileadean period, and the post Gileadean period (LeBihan 100). In addition, the novel is divided into two frames, both with a first person narrative. Offred s narrative makes up the first frame, while the second frame is provided by the Historical Notes, a transcript of a lecture given by a Cambridge professor. The distinctions in structure and narrative perspective parallel the separation of Gileadean residents into different social roles. Offred s narrative is mainly of the Gileadean period, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the instance of women in the novel, this power comes from their indispensable role in the propagation of society. As Offred tells her story, she incorporates the stories of other women into her narrative. Her voice multiplies to become the voice of women rather than the voice of a single narrator (133). Thus, The Handmaid s Taleisn t just Offred s protest against her oppressive condition, but the collective protest of every woman. The Historical Notes comprising the second frame of the novel provide an important shift in perspective. The Notes are a transcript of a lecture given by the professor, Darcy Pieixoto, at an academic symposium on Gileadean Studies two hundred years after Gilead has become ancient history. The reader finds out that Pieixoto and his colleague are the ones responsible for the transcription and editing of the handmaid s story. (As it turns out, Offred s account is not actually written, but recorded onto cassette tapes). Pieixoto treats Offred s story in a scientific and detached manner. For him, her account is merely a resource for gaining knowledge of the former Gilead Republic. The shift from Offred as narrator to Pieixoto as narrator does two things. First, it signifies Offred s inability to make her voice heard; the voice of the male narrator in the last part of the novel threatens to drown out Offred s voice and the significance of her autobiography. Secondly, it leaves readers with the challenge of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lewis writes from the perspective of demons, this organically highlights the truths of Christianity. Screwtape pushes Wormwood to have the patient discover evil in every dimension of his life as the patient begins to become a follower of Christianity. To note, the Christian Godis labeled as the Enemy whereas the Devil is labeled as Our Father Below . In order to turn the subject away... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Ignatuis sees God present in our daily lives and our creator, so does Screwtape who pushes Wormwood to distort this image. For example, Screwtape advises, keep him praying to it to the thing he has made, not to the Person who has made him (Lewis 18). Screwtape respects God as seen by the capitalization of the word Enemy and wants the patient to focus on the opposite of God s virtues because God s love can prove his existence. The demons must work around God and have their subjects focus on themselves not God. Furthermore, Wormwood has the subject work with God through God s grace which protects subjects from the temptations of the devil. Screwtape goes on to criticize Wormwood s ignorance when Wormwood, allowed [the patient] two real positive Pleasures...[for] when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than ever (64 65). God wants his followers to be wholly him and wholly themselves. It is loving God back when a person is him/herself. Screwtape realizes the faults in letting him act, but the subject only becomes more humble as Wormwood dismisses said advice. The third way in which the spirit works is a vision of love. Screwtape berates the Enemy s philosophy of love that [t]hings are to be many, yet somehow also one (94). God claims to be the Father, the Son, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Critical Analysis Of E. H. Carr What is History? This is the question posed by historian E.H. Carr in his study of historiography. Carr debates the ongoing argument which historians have challenged for years, on the possibility that history could be neutral. In his book he discusses the link between historical facts and the historians themselves. Carr argues that historycannot be objective or unbiased, as for it to become history, knowledge of the past has been processed by the historian through interpretation and evaluation. He argues that it is the necessary interpretations which mean personal biases whether intentional or not, define what we see as history. A main point of the chapter is that historians select the facts they think are significant which ultimately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Carr rebuts this, as he states that the belief in a hard core of historical facts existing objectively and independently of the interpretation of the historian is a preposterous fallacy, but one which it is very hard to eradicate. This statement explains the misconception that history is made up entirely of facts without the interference of opinion and biases. Carr s argument is that for facts to become historical facts they must be interpreted and analyzed by the historian. This requires the process of selecting facts, evaluating and interpreting them, which inevitable will contain certain elements of personal prejudices. It is based on this reasoning which he therefore claims that facts can only become historical once they have been selected by a historian and this is what makes them significant. He therefore questions the extent to which a historian could be objective as experience could affect what we perceive as being important, meaning that historians are determining what the facts of the past are according to the own biases and agendas, whether they are consciously or unconsciously aware. Hence emphasising Carr s point that history is an interpretation. He uses several examples to explain this for example it was the historian that decided Caesar crossing the Rubicon was a significant event whilst ignoring the many others that crossed it before and after him. Hydraulic Fracturing The Split Personality of Hydraulic Fracturing There is wide agreement among most experts and the public that the current energy sources we use in the United States are in need of a replacement. Reliance on the fossil fuels of coal and oil are problematic for at least two reasons: their negative impact on the environment (both in extraction and their use) and the reliance on supplies of these from other countries, which has created problems on the geopolitical front. Nuclear fission remains a controversial alternative, considering the risks involved in a catastrophic meltdown and the lack of a long term waste storage solution. It is the coupling of the twin practices of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing that allows for the extraction of shale bound natural gas deposits. It is the combination of those techniques along with the inherent properties of the shale and the natural gas bound in the rock that has led to a maelstrom of controversy. Unexplained health problems, contaminated groundwater, mysterious earthquakes, poisonous wastewater, and surprisingly increased carbon footprint have all been linked to the modern practice of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas. What are the facts backing up those claims? Is fracking hazardous to our health? Before addressing these key questions, the economic and geopolitical benefits of our natural gas bounty should be examined. The economic and political benefits of increased natural gas usage are frequently touted. Since oil imports account for about half of the U.S. trade deficit (Williamson) then any reduction in our reliance on foreign oil would certainly have some impact. More significantly, as McGlynn notes geopolitical turmoil has put foreign sources at risk (1052). Well, most people have his perspective like that. The scientist had found proofs that afforestation has the negative impact on the habitats of animals and the whole environment. Many people call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These main colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of different objects are determined by the interaction between lightand the electrons of the atoms that make up an object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the object, and it absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. These theories tried to describe light as a ray which moved directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of the right triangle that was made up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that came out of a person s eye and hit an object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces off. The characters depicted are made up of four groups of human figures, which include the Trinity(God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the Virgin Mary and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the picture. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s placement of the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the divine in comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed beneath the cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which indicates that man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods importance in comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives viewpoint. Masaccio s manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine Trinity and closest to the skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to God s divinity. This demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up to Christ for salvation and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it. The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point is approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows for both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual structure. For our public advocacy project, we want to dispel media s beauty standards and shine a light on the truth. The truth is that the media creates beauty standards with the use of Photoshop. Photoshop involves altering body features to be more appealing and beautiful. This is done by the use of lighting, angles, computer techniques and props. In this reflection, we will discuss the text and videos we analyzed, the problematic agenda of Photoshop, the media product we developed, what social media we used to get our word out, the advantages and disadvantages of social media, our goals and outcome and how we applied the Freire s Model to our project. A lot is done to make people unrealistically beautiful, and our group would like to bring an end to the false idea of beauty presented by the media with the use of Photoshop. • 37. Market Revolution And The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution during the 19th Century led to the rapid expanse of cotton production in America. Several new inventions began to be used which could more efficiently use cotton and other similar materials to aid in the production of textiles. During that time, the textile industry was big and the demand for cottoncontinued to grow however the price of cotton never increased to match the demand. Slaves were taken advantage of and because their labor was so cheap it was beneficial to slave owners to collect cotton using slave labor and trade the cotton for a profit. Great Britain was the worlds most powerful country and a large part of that countries industrial life was cotton textiles. America became Britain s biggest trade partner for cotton and the increase in trade allowed America to build on its own and gain a bigger variety of goods through trade. The cotton industry was one of the biggest influences of America s growth in the 19th Century and slave labor was used to ensure its expansion could continue throughout the years. Mass production was a major technological achievement all over the world especially in newly developing areas. Factory jobs were becoming wildly available and the demand for the materials used in these factories increased exponentially. The southern states were more focused on gaining profit through agriculture, however the tobacco economy in these states was beginning to fail. • 39. Caliban in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay The Tempest, considered by many to be Shakespeare s farewell to the theatre, has of all his plays the most remarkable interpretive richness. The exceptional flexibility of Shakespeare s stage is given particular prominence in The Tempest due to its originality and analytic potential, in particular in the presentation of one of his most renowned and disputed characters, Caliban. Superficially portrayed in the play as a most detestable monster, Caliban does not evoke much sympathy. However, on further examination Caliban presents himself as an extremely complex character and soon his apparent monstrosity is not so obviously transparent. The diverse range of presentations of him on stage exemplifies Caliban s multifarious character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the introduction to Critical Essays on Shakespeare s The Tempest, Editor Alden T. Vaughan describes how the commonly accepted view of Prospero s character was that of a wise and rational ruler [who] could govern the forces of disorder that undermine the family and the state . Indeed, before the beginning of the nineteenth century Prospero was presented as thus, while Caliban as an abominable, inhuman beast. As the play drew a greater audience worldwide however, that view began to change and post colonial interpretations began to present themselves in which Caliban was cast in a more empathic light. These critics noted how easily the figure of Caliban converges with the image of the cannibal, the mythical savage whom many European travellers claimed to have encountered. The name Caliban even seems to be a pointed anagram of cannibal . Since that time, views have changed on the savagery of those natives and with it, on the savagery of Caliban. In the 1978 Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Tempest, David Suchet played a humanized, though exploited, third world Caliban, possibly a representative African or West Indian. This interpretation draws on many views that Caliban represents a subjugated native and that the relationship between Prospero and Caliban is, in fact, a relationship between the oppressor, and the oppressed. Indeed, the island was Caliban s before Prospero and Miranda arrived where he was then reduced to being a slave. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The common ambition of activists of every kind has always been to represent the needs and injustices of the marginalized communities in question, and in doing so, to bring about change. Margaret Mead, a cultural anthropologist, and an outspoken feminist once said, never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it s the only thing that ever has. One indisputable benefit of social media is its ability to effectively inform millions of people at once; this is infinitely powerful. The interactive format of social networking invites individuals to educate themselves on an issue and then to contribute to it, all in under ten minutes. Despite its efficiency, the detriment of this system is that it perpetuates the idea that the signing of a change.org petition is all it takes to make a difference. Grassroots activism and petitioning, while absolutely fundamental parts of the pursuit of social justice are often only the inciting steps in the lengthy and usually complicated process of creating lasting change. In 2014, in the wake of the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice, to name just a few, an international movement protesting police brutality began with the hashtag #blacklivesmatter. The issue of racially induced police brutality became a relevant topic of debate in the presidential election that followed, and protests took place worldwide. Thiazide diuretic works primarily in the distal tubular of the kidneys. Diuretics affects the electrolyte balance and reduce blood pressure in the body and therefore should be monitored closely. Thiazide diureticworks by decreasing plasma volume which reduces venous return and diminishes cardiac output causing bloodpressure to fall. These oversized tablets can result in the patients receiving almost twice the amount of the recommended dose, which can lead to fatal consequences. Propafenone is an anti arrhythmic medication that treats illnesses associated with heart palpitations. An overdose can cause low blood pressure or heart palpitations which may lead to death. Dextroamphetamine sulfate is used to treat narcolepsy, ADHD in children, epilepsy and parkinsonism; an overdose can lead to fatal poisoning (KV Pharmaceutical, 2010). The complaints led to the inspection of KV by the FDA from December 2008 to February 2009; the inspection results confirmed that KV Pharmaceuticals had a considerable amount of cGMP violations, and even then they decided to manufacture unapproved drugs. There are multiple points in this short story that aid my point. The author, Nathaniel Hawthorne may have written this based on his time when differences towards genders occurred. Women are portrayed as powerless but rather innocent victims while men are seen as the more powerful individuals, making all the decisions for them and their families. If people do not follow the roles their genderassociate with, the conflicts between them and society may uprise with it. It is known that psychopaths keep going on with their criminal careers long after others have aged out of their criminal behavior. Psychopaths are continuously in trouble and are more likely to end up in the penal institutions. Once these prisoners are released, they are three times more likely to re offend in a year and four more times likely to re offend violently, compared to non psychopaths. Alaina Case Professor Powers Final Paper JOUR 3060 Due Date: 4 May 2015 Section I In order to understand why Federal Communication Commission has legal authority to regulate media ownership and should be allowed to continue to regulate media ownership, you must first know the statues that gave way to the regulation. The FCC was created by the Communications Act of 1934. The Communications Act of 1934 replaced the Radio Act of 1927, and the FCC superseded the FRC (Federal Radio Commission). This act called for the government to regulate in the public interest and foreign communications by radio and wire. The FCC can be traced back to the Wireless Ship Act of 1910. The Wireless Ship Act of 1910 required large ships to have wireless equipment and radio operators on board...made it illegal not to retransmit or answer wireless transmissions from ships. This law was the first U.S. regulation on devices that used electromagnetic spectrum. The Chain Broadcasting Rules, was the first national ownership limit passed by the FCC in 1941. These rules regulated major national radio networks, in relation to local stations. These regulations also included a structural ownership rule limiting a radio network from owning more than one broadcast station within a market area, reflecting the Commission s earlier presumption that a single entity holding more than one broadcast license in the same community contravened the public interest. In sociology, sociologists focus on the differences that are determined by society, culture, and gender. It is believed by social scientists that gender differences are not caused by biological differences. Although humans are born male or female, individuals must learn and understand masculine or feminine behaviors. Therefore, gender differences are a result of socialization, discrimination, prejudice, and other forms of social control. For example, in the United States, a strong patriarchal system is enforced among Mormon Fundamentalists. From a conflict and feministic perspective, gender inequality or sexism exists because it benefits a group in the position of power and with power to shape society. This power group is men. The theorists within these two perspectives argue that as long as men maintain their social, economic, and cultural advantage within society that women will remain in their subordinate position. This subordinate position women have within society is linked to their relationship to the means of production (Leon Guerrero, 2014).
