Input Peripherals
How do input peripherals
work?
When a user press a key, one electric switch
is closed.
A chip detects that event and save it in a
buffer.
When it's possible, the information goes out
the buffer to be encoded in zeros and ones,
code which is sent to the computer through
the input port.
Processor receives the data and processes
it as the application or operating system may
decide.

Characteristics

The screen size is measured ever in
INCHES.

Resolution is expressed as a product
of pixels: 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, etc.

Printers are characterized by their
speed (in pages per minute, ppm) and
their resolution (in dots per inch, dpi)

Conclusion

Peripherals are devices
which can be connected to
the computer.

They allow the introduction
and exit of data.

We can sort them as:
Input Peripherals,
Output Peripherals, and
Input/Output Peripherals

Keyboard and Mouse are the
most important Input
Peripherals. Cameras, Webcams
and Scanners are Input
Peripherals too.

Monitor and Printer are main
Output Peripherals.

Hard Disk drives, Memory
Sticks, Re-writeable Disks, and
external connections (Ethernet,
Modem) are Input/Output
Peripherals.
