Editor's Notes
This concept of the soul capable of life separate from the body indicates the author’s exposure to the Greek’s thought. Jews saw the person as a whole, inseperable being. When physical life was over there was no way for a person to live on, except for in people’s memories. Greeks introduced the concept of body & soul. This indication brought the possibility of life beyond death. Any Jewish conception of life after death had more to do with the rare event of restoring people to earthly life.
