Friends of Columbus Children distributes free diapers to low income families in Central Ohio through existing service providers, including local food pantries, soup kitchens, daycare centers, social service agencies and shelters thru our Happy Babies Diaper Bank program.
Mission:To ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers.
To create a lasting impact, the Happy Babies Diaper Bank a program of Friends of Columbus Children intends to raise community awareness that "basic human necessities" are not being met for our community's most vulnerable-our babies.
23. Access to a sufficient supply of diapers is essential
for the health of Central Ohio's infants, and the
quality of life of our community, but too many
individuals don’t have the resources to adequately
provide for this basic need.
As long as poverty exists, children in our community
will need diapers. The need is already great… and it’s
growing: just this past year, those living below the
poverty line in Central Ohio grew by 27%
meaning that 1 in 4 children are born into poverty
annually.
Resources for free or discounted diapers are few.
Food Stamps cannot be used to purchase diapers,
and diaper manufacturers don't donate diapers, even
to crisis nurseries and shelters. Friends of Columbus
Children's goal is to bridge this gap in available re-
sources for our community’s neediest and most
