Peppered Moth Natural Selection Simulation Lab Purpose predators locate prey in different

Newspaper Forceps (tweezers) Colored Pencils Stopwatch or Clock with Second Hand 30

moths explaining their habitat and how and why their population has shifted. Hypothesis:
Written as a statement. (What do you think will happen in your experiment after reading the
purpose and the procedure?)
Solution
Peppered moths are two types; one has white and other has dark color. The color of white paper
and newspaper is also different and they represent colors of moths and color of their liking
perspective environment. White color of the paper should make attraction of predator for
newspaper circles but not for white circles. It is because white circles in white background will
less observable but the newspaper color (which is dull) is clearly visible in the white background.
There’s the moth use to hide and predator use to capture. The phenomenon under newspaper
background will show the inverse behavior from the white background condition (described
above
The purpose of this lab is to observe predator response according the color of the environment
for two definite preys.
The population of moths increases in their similar color environment. The dark colored moths
like dark environment and white colored moths like white environment. Dark colored moths
were not observable until year 1811 because of less pollution. The white colored moths are
always has hiding capacity in clean environment but they have to adopt by the falling of clean
environment. This shows the evolution of moths according the environment.
Hypothesis:
If predator fails to select white and dark color circles more in their same color environment then
the preys are using like color like environment phenomenon for their protection.
