Why might a transposon screen for genes required for virulence in a bacterium NOT identify a
particular gene required for virulence in humans?
Solution
There is lack of transposons specific to vertebrates. Hence, the usage of transposons in
vertebrates has been limited. Transposons present and compatible inside vertebrate genomes are
inactive or "junk" DNA.
