PEER ASSESSMENT
Weaknesses:
• One issue that the other group found was with the sound. For example, in some scenes the sound would
randomly cut or the sound of train can be heard. This is an issue we were aware of and it is something we
will have to focus on when we get to the music/sound stage of our editing (which would be the near to
last part). The train sound is heard in a scene where there is no dialogue, so to counteract this sound we
will most likely detatch the audio of that scene, blade the audio and mute where necessary.
• There were several shots which the other group had felt were too long. For example, the scene in which I
was pouring the drugs out was too long and it felt as if it was detracting from the suspenseful atmosphere.
We had experimented with this, adding cross dissolves and such but transitions didn’t seem to fit. We will
work on this, possibly making it a jump cut. Also they had a small comment about the reading of the diary
scene. Because the voiceover hasn’t been recorded yet, we will not know how long that scene needs to
be. We are just using it as a guide now.
• Some of the narrative wasn’t made clear to them also. This was due to us not finishing editing the final
scenes. Also there was issues with the lighting, due to the different time in which the shots were filmed.
When we get back to editing, we will have to counterbalance the difference in colour by clicking on the
two shots and matching them in colour.
• They were baffled about the ages of the characters. This was because Rak’s uniform was visible whereas
Emily’s was covered up her coat. Our teacher had assumed she was a 6th former whereas he was just a
high school student. This doesn’t pose to be too much of a problem as our intention if for the audience to
acknowledge that she is a student and that she is innocent.
• Ok onto the biggie! :’( Due to the complex narrative and high amount of dialogue, our film is actually 7 and
a half minutes in total. Our brief is 5 minutes so a lot of cutting is needed!!
• They had also said the drug scenes was slightly unrealistic, so with music and more effect, hopefully we
will be able to establish a more drug-like atmosphere.
Strengths:
• One major strength was with my acting (yaaaay!) They had felt us if my acting made the character appear
even more dreary, ultimately adding to the atmosphere.
• They liked the variation of shots and said it more interesting.
• They admired the choice of locations also
• Overall they said our film was “really good” and that we had quite a few stuff to add on which was expect
red at this stage
• I’m excited to add the voiceover and music as I feel sound and music in general can intensify people’s
emotions and heighten they adrenaline.
