“Pay N Park” is aiming to be an online parking management agency. “Pay N Park” offers a wide range of products and services that will equip users to search for a parking space in a particular location and to book the available parking space using mobile/web internet devices.
We tried to depict the features of Taxi transport system for a smart city. Taxi could actually add lot of values to urban planning and to the commuters.
Abstract Finding a parking space in most metropolitan areas, during the rush hours, is difficult for drivers. The problem arises from not knowing where is the empty space; even if it is known, many vehicles may pursue very limited parking spaces to cause serious traffic congestion. In this project, a prototype of smart parking (S-Park) system is designed and implemented that allows drivers to effectively find and reserve the empty parking spaces using an android application connected to Internet. By periodically polling the parking status from the sensor networks deployed in parking lots, the reservation status is affected by the change of physical parking status. The drivers are allowed to access the server on their Android smartphones. The proposed smart parking policy has the potential to solve the problems of parking systems, as well as reduce traffic congestion caused by parking searching thus making the system two-way efficient, that is, cost wise and time wise. Key Words: Smart parking system, Android based application, Embedded server, One time password.
One of the major challenges in present ticketing
provision is “QUEUE” in buying suburban railway tickets. In
this rapid growing world of technology user buy with oyster and
octopus cards for suburban tickets, this is frustrating at times to
stand in the queue or if user forgot his cards. Android Suburban
Railway(ASR) ticketing is to buy the suburban tickets which is
the most difficult when compared to booking the long journey
tickets through ‘M-ticket’. ASR ticket can be bought with smart
phone application, where user can carry his railway tickets in his
smart phone as QR-code.
It uses the smart phone’s “GPS” facility to authenticate and
erase ticket automatically after a specific interval of time when
user reaches to the destination. User’s ticket information is
stored in a CLOUD database for security, which is absent in
present suburban system. Also the ticket checker is provided
with a checker application to look for user’s ticket with the
ticket number in the cloud database for checking purposes.

Smart Car Parking system using GSM Technologydbpublications
In this paper, we present PGS, a Parking Guidance System based on wireless sensor network(WSN) which guides a driver to an available parking lot. The system consists of a WSN based VDS (vehicle detection sub-system) and a management subsystem. The WSN based VDS gathers information on the availability of each parking lot and the management sub-system processes the information and refines them and guides the driver to the available parking lot by controlling a VMS (Variable Messaging System). The paper describes the overall system architecture of PGS from the hardware platform to the application software in the view point of a WSN. We implemented the WSN based VDS of PGS and experimented on the system with several kinds of cars.

Smart Parking systems typically obtains information about available parking spaces in a particular geographic area and process is real-time to place vehicles at available positions .It involves using low-cost sensors, real-time data collection, and mobile-phone-enabled automated payment systems that allow people to reserve parking in advance or very accurately predict where they will likely find a spot.
With increasing vehicle size in the luxury segment and crunching parking space, traffic congestion is increasingly becoming an alarming concern in almost all major cities around the world. Burning about a million barrels of the world’s oil every day, and considering cities are turning urban without a well-planned, convenience-driven retreat from the cars, these problems will only worsen.
Smart Parking systems is one of the latest disruptive technologies that help address this problem by generating real time contextual information about the available parking spaces particular geographical area to accommodate vehicles low-cost sensors, mobility-enabled automated payment systems, real-time data collection, Smart Parking systems is designed to aid drivers to precisely find a spot.
What’s more, Smart Parking also minimizes emissions from vehicle in urban centers when deployed as a system by decreasing the dependency of people; unnecessarily circling the blocks trying to identify parking space. Apart from this green cause, by employing a host of technologies such as M2M telematics, Smart Parking helps resolve one of the biggest problems when driving around in urban areas – which is illegal parking and identifying free parking space.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.
Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

‘Pay N Park’
3. Overview
Not enough space!!! It‟s so far!!!; It is so costly!!!; We have to wait three hours for space!!!; Where to
park? All of the above phrases show rising parking problems in many big cities such as Hong Kong,
Beijing or Shanghai. Parking is one of the major problems people faces when they are traveling. Many of
the times, parking space is difficult to find, inadequate, inconvenient or expensive and thus frustrate
vehicle users.
Inadequate parking space availability can create problems to both users and non-users of vehicles in a
society. However, excessive parking facilities can also create problems of improper utilization of
expensive parking facilities. In addition, excessive parking facilities impose environmental costs as well
as contradict community development objectives for more active and healthy society.
“Pay N Park” is aiming to be an online parking management agency. “Pay N Park” offers a wide range of
products and services that will equip users to search for a parking space in a particular location and to
book the available parking space using mobile/web internet devices.
Product and Services
“Pay N Park” is online parking reservation system with following two major product features:
1) On-line/Mobile Parking Inquiry & Reservation System:
Our system is a multi-dimensional platform that serves the needs for both drivers and car park owners. On the
one hand, the system enables drivers to reserve a parking space in a specific time in the car park they desire. It
also provides driving information such as real-time road condition, location of the suggested car park etc. On
the other hand, for car parks located in busy areas such as CBDs (Central Business Districts), Cooperate
Offices and shopping hubs, our system brings in extra revenue for them by increasing their utilization rate.
2) Location Based Social Networking System:
Users on “Pay N Park” will be able to connect to other users based on their business work location.
Localization factor will help users to interact with each other and thus use private parking slots available in
nearby locality of their work location. People can also interact and form groups to use car-pooling in case if
they all have to travel to nearby localities.
4. Technology Involved
Figure1:- The arrow direction shows flow of information
Current car park management is dependent on either human personnel keeping track of the available car park
spaces or a sensor based system that monitors the availability of each car park space or the overall number of
available car park spaces. In both situations, the information available was only the total number of car park
spaces available and not the actual location available. In addition, the installation and maintenance cost of a
sensor based system is dependent on the number of sensors used in a car park.
“Pay N Park” is computer vision based system that is able to detect and indicate the available parking spaces in
a car park. The methods utilized to detect available car park spaces were based on coordinates to indicate the
regions of interest and an object classifier.
The system architecture is shown in Figure 1. The user connects to Parking Information system with a mobile
phone application and requests for information on the status of parking lot that the user is trying to reach. Then,
Parking Information system retrieves the information on the specific parking lot for which user made a request
by processing the data it received IP surveillance cameras or Web cameras (such as Google Earth) or other
sources. After retrieving the data, this information is sent back to the user in form of text or audio. The user can
reserve the parking spaces and pay the amount through the same mobile application or if parking is available
user can do advance booking of the slots and do the payment through various modes (online or spot payment).
Basic features of Pay N Park App:-

Market Analysis
Our potential market covers all the car-available households in Hong Kong. Among those, we identify our
target customers those who do not drive because they have difficulty in finding a parking space. Base on the
Travel Characteristics Survey 2002 Final Report, 31% of car-available household who do not drive fall into
this category. We also target to those drivers with high demand of scheduling assurance.
According to the Transport census in year 2009, the number of license private vehicles is 393,812. The average
of license private vehicles per car-available household is 1.1 cars per household, which gives an estimate of
358,010 car-available households in 2009. The growth rate for private vehicle has been steadily increasing by
3% from 2006 to 2009. By 2010, the estimated number of car available household is around 368,750 and will
reach 427,482 in the year of 2016.
For the entire car-available households who are willing to drive, they drive 4.2 days per week in weekday day-
time, 3.5 days per weekday night-time and 1.7 per week at weekends. There are 18% of car-available
households who are not willing to drive on weekdays day- time, 34% of car-available households who are not
willing to drive on weekdays night-time and 16% of car-available households who are not willing to drive on
weekends. Among these drivers, 31% of them do not drive because it is difficult to find a parking space as
mention above.
We expect those 31% drivers will use our reservation services in the year 2016. Therefore, it will generate
around 83,500, 157,000 and 35,200 usages of our reservation system during weekday day-time, weekday night-
time, and weekend respectively, making up a total of 292,000 transactions per week. Our estimate is
conservative since we did not take into account those car-available households who are driving and willing to
purchase our service in order to save time.
Competitive Landscape
Our potential competitors are the major parking managements, such as Wilson Parking and Imperial Parking.
Wilson Parking is the largest parking management in Hong Kong. Being a specialized operating subsidiary of
Wilson Group, it manages more than 100,000 parking spaces in 305 car parks in Hong Kong. The reasons we
believe Wilson Parking to be a potential competitor are as follows. First, Wilson Parking has an extensive and
comprehensive parking management system that connects all car parks all around Hong Kong. It allows
6. Wilson Parking to achieve an economy of scale if it enters our market. Second, Wilson Group owns a
technology division dedicated to provide parking and traffic management and maintenance service.
Therefore, it is advantageous for them with an almost-ready-for-use system.
Imperial Parking, even with less car parks under management compared with Wilson Parking, has most
operations in landmark districts in Hong Kong. Their geographical presence creates threat to us since most of
our operations are in CBDs and shopping hubs as well.
Future Enhancements:-
We can provide API or Web Services so that it can easily integrate to Malls, Corporate offices, Railway,
Airways, Banks websites so Users can easily get the parking slots.
Build the group so people can know about the nearest parking area or do the car pooling.
Strong GPS services to locate the parking slots for Users.
We can integrate all government and private agencies and make the new parking portal so user can get more
space for parking.
If users require hourly, daily, monthly pass or coupons that we can offer in future depend on the user’s
requirement and rules & regulation from agencies.
