Advantages Of Takaful
Takaful business was established based on Takaful Act 1984 as a guideline and reference for the
operation of takaful to companies. According to the Act, there are two groups of takaful business
which are family solidarity business and general business. Family solidarity business concerns with
solidarity certificates that include any type of takaful business carried on as incidental only to the
operator s other solidarity business while general business is all takaful business which is not
family solidarity business (Malaysia, Takaful Act 1984). Basically, the general takaful is same like
conventional insurancewhich focus on coverage against material loss and damage such as natural
disasters while family takaful is more on life insurance that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Obstacles to achieve higher market penetration of takaful are because of lack of players, market
awareness, lack of products, low capitalisation of takaful companies, poor culture of consumer
education and inconsistent messages from some Shariah advisories (Parker, 2006). Competitive
advantages of takaful are on the unique offerings and follow the Shariah compliance that should be
utilised by the Malaysian takaful operators.
Research methodology used for this paper is on literature review on a few articles in the scope of
takaful. The main focus on these articles is on the marketing strategies that can be used to promote
the takaful insurance by understanding the costumers behaviours to create awareness. These
analyses are emphasised more on the family takaful insurance in the takaful industry.
Due to lack of awareness of Malaysians on takaful insurance and its products offerings and also low
of market penetration, the best method is by analysing the purchase intention and also
participations behaviours of potential customers. Empirical researches have been conducted to
investigate the behaviours of these customers and further give recommendations to takaful
operators and takaful marketers to conduct appropriate marketing plan to these potential customers

C Sole Industry Analysis
Ace Athletics has prioritized the high end segment of the footwear industry since the beginning.
We feel that being an industry leading in quality and technology is our best chance at building
and sustaining our long term plans. There are several reasons for our stance on the industry, but
the most obvious being is S/Q rating. As the industry leading in S/Q rating us as well as C Sole
have been able to consistently beat the market and develop into our closest competitor. Another
reason we feel that the high end of the spectrum offers the most opportunity and profitability is the
differentiation what we show in the marketplace. We are able to compete on price every year while
still offering the quality shoes that customers demand. Finally, we feel that succeeding in the high
end market would provide us a strong base that would allow us room to branch off and dominate

Ace Athletics and C Sole have had very similar competitive strategies as well as execution. C
Sole s greatest strength is their ability to maintain a high S/Q rating in every market. That
strategy has worked well for them, but has shown potential to be damaged by our recent ability
to offer better prices and retail support. In the past several years Ace Athletics has positioned
ourself to take over large portions of the markets away from C Sole. The opportunity for Ace
Athletics has never been greater. We have figured out a way to keep our cost of goods sold
competitive. Even with the lowest quality of the industry. This result is from heavy investments in
our employees trainings and large plant and capacity upgrades. Customers are clearly concerned
with the quality they are paying for, and it has been one of our goals to meet that demand. Going
forward we are looking to revolutionizing the footwear industry and building upon our relationships
with our investors, employees, vendors, and customers to take full advantage of the global shoe

A Difficult Challenge For Caregivers Of Young Children...
Facing a difficult challenge for caregivers of young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
isn t easy, yet it s hard due to the fact of deciding on the proper treatment plan for the child.
Programs emphasizing usage of structured settings, tight stimulus control, and adult directed
instruction are labeled as current evidence that supports the early educational interventions which is
based on the developmental and applied behavioral analytic principles leading to the models that
focus on opportunities of naturalistic delivery of learning within child led routines. Nevertheless,
calibration with intervention gains of treatment approaches from substantial to modest and resulting
in treatment approaches to be variable. Limitation is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Testing the effect of every possible combination of evidence based interventions and every possible
factor that might be related to outcomes is logistically unfeasible. Therefore, a research program
informed by theory driven hypotheses is crucial for facilitating a rational use of research resources
in these areas (Vivanti, 2017, p.114 115). The ASD is an early intervention field due to having a
relevant obstacle in the research agenda at a pre paradigmatic stage (Kuhn, 1962) which is a stage
where practices are informed by competing meta theoretical orientations (e.g., behavioral theory,
cognitive theory, and developmental theory) operate in consonance with disparate vocabularies and
criteria used for appraising evidence (Ingersoll, 2010; Smith, 2014). Different treatments of
individualization and combination have to generate testable prognosis, current frameworks of pre
paradigmatic should be developed into full fledged scientific theories which utilize parameters and
constraints to formulate treatment targets and therapeutic change of hypothesized nature. In this
research, the hypothesis of treatment used will oblige the reformulation of rationales treatment in
four sets of explicit terms of explanatory/predictive statements which are (1) logical coherence, (2)
falsifiability, (3)

A Research And Clinical Background Of Life Division Sells...
A.Strength
a)Strong scientific and clinical background
Medifast, originally developed by a physician, owns a superior scientific and clinical heritage, by
which it is committed to evaluating its products and programs through its clinical research. This
is the biggest differentiator for Medifast to be distinct from other companies and makes the
products of Medifast reliable. Firstly, the Scientific Advisory Board of Medifast includes medical
expertise and registered dieticians who are responsible for the medical and nutritional ingredients
in its products. Secondly, Medifast has a close national network with physicians. Its products and
programs have been recommended by over 20,000 doctors since 1980, as they are proved to be

Medical providers using products of Medifast are the wholesalers. The company cooperates with
those medical providers to help patients who suffer from disease caused by obesity. Medifast s
nutrition support team will grow personalized programs for patients. This will occur by phone and
email.
c)Multiple operations
The services of Medifast vary from weight management to healthy living products. Under the
corporation of Medifast, there are several brands such as OPTAVIA and Flavors of Home. The
meal replacement line has more than 65 options, covering bars, pudding, shakes, bakes and etc.
B.Threat
a)competitive pressure from other market players
Encompassed with various companies and products, the weight loss industry is highly competitive.
Medifast has to face the threats from its competitors among supply chain distribution, product
diversity, production expense, popularity and reaction time of customer demand. Besides, new
entrants in the market increase the risks of this business. Currently, Medifast identifies Nutrisystem
and Weight Watchers International as its main competitiors.
1.Nutrisystem is another product and service provider in the weight management industry. The
company concentrates on the meal replacement market, which is a serious threat to Medifast s
product sale. Its competitiveness versus Medifast largely derives from the low price, product
efficacy and Customer Value Proposition. О» First of all, the low prices of

The Tasmanian Tiger And The Extinction Of The Tasmanian Tiger
Extinction of the Tasmanian Tiger September 7, 1936 marked the final day of the existence of the
Tasmanian Tiger. Restricted to the boundaries of its man made cage, the last Tasmanian Tiger
slipped into a never ending slumber, leaving behind a somber echo of what once was. Playing the
role of an invasive species, humans played a huge part in the avoidable extinction of this species,
along with the introduction of the dingo. The de extinction movement has presented the possibility
of bringing back the tasmanian tiger after 81 years of declared extinction. Whether this plan is
followed through with or not, the extinction of this creature brought to the attention of the world
the need to protect our ever fading species diversity. The tasmanian tiger is also known as the
tasmanian wolf or thylacine, and its binomial nomenclature is Thylacinus cynocephalus. Thylacine
roamed throughout Tasmania, which is an island off of the coast of Australia; Tasmania displays
the characteristics of a cool, temperate rainforest (Parks Wildlife Service). These creatures
presented a unique combination of characteristics; stripes glided down the their lower backs, their
tails were stiffly similar to that of a kangaroo, and their bodies were built like a canine. Both males
and females had backward facing pouches, indicating that thylacines are marsupials (Old 2). Sexual
dimorphism was noticeable through the greater length of the males in comparison to the females
(Paddle 4). A form of

Public Spaces
Race and Power in Public Spaces Last Friday, June 26, I have chosen to go to the food court
inside the Students Union in order to make my observation for this second ethnographic paper.
As we discussed in class, observation is type of field work that anthropologists do in order to
collect data and effectuate studies about the same data. As a way to collect better results in my
observation at the Students Unions, I decided to go during launch time willing to observe a huge
number of people in that place. While I was there, I was focused on observing the way people
behave when they are in a public sphere, and how do they interact with each other. When I first
arrived there, the first thing that I have noticed is that most of the people in... Show more content on

When I saw the way the Mexicans were behaving, I realized that it was connected to the idea of
power that we have discussed in class. As the teacher said in class, Power is the ability or
potential to bring about change (Storey). I believe that this idea applies to the Mexicans that I
observed because they feel incapable to bring change in America, so they act a little shy in
public spaces. In my opinion, if the American society treated all the people in the same way,
avoiding the creation of stereotypes about people from different races, those people would
behave in a different way. Because race is very important in America, people that is not white
feel pressured to behave in certain way that will not bother people with power, just like how the
Mexican that I say acted like. On the other hand, I have also made a connection to the concept
that racism is socially constructed, when people started to look at me in different way because I
was sitting with a white girl. This made me realize that because America does not feel comfortable
about interracial relationship, they promote racism, and as consequence, Americans do not know
how to act in situations like this, so they see it as strange or uncommon just like when they saw
me with a white girl. From what I saw in my observation last Friday, it seems that people in

A Man And A Doll. Society As A Unit, Has Been Pushing Towards
A Man and a Doll
Society as a unit, has been pushing towards the ideal state of living throughout most of history.
People had used symbols and ideas to get points across to help push and fix where society has
holes to further integrate the perfect principles that will then replace social norms, and break
through what once was a flawed belief system. the social rights activist Malcom X was one of
these icons who fought to create a better world for African Americans. The child s toy Barbie, was
a symbol towards women and pushed the idea of that women can push through the ideals that
society wanted them to be. Both for a cause, one plastic, one man, both with an idea.

The three main key events that are included in the novel include the crucial reasoning to why
Malcolm expressed himself the way he did. The events that distinguished Malcolm s character were
racial identity, systemic oppression, and integration v separation.
Ruth Handler created Barbie, after noticing her daughter playing with paper dolls and she was
playing the role of a mother, as most women were expected to be. The basic standard for women
were to be a housewife, and most young girl s toys were children or infants. Ms. Handler wanted
to influence young girls to be anything they wanted. Barbie s purpose was to be an adult to further
portray the young girl s dreams, which is why she specifically sought out an adult woman to depict
her doll, this way when young girls play pretend they would seek a better future outside of
motherhood.
Both Malcolm x and Barbie received a great deal of criticism before becoming famous and
influential, Malcolm x was viewed as a racist and a criminal, he was put in jail and spent seven
years there. In jail was called Satan for cursing at God multiple times, but it was then that he had
met another cell mate, John Bembry and realized that he was trying to be someone that he was not;

Benefits Of Debit And Credit Card Payment
Debit and Credit card payments facility
Accepting card payments can have a tremendous positive effect on cash flow. Even if sales are not
increasing, the business will still benefit from the convenience of having the profits instantly
delivered to a bank account. Furthermore, customers now expect to have the option to pay by card.
BHSF have periodically considered implementing a debit and credit card payment facility in order
to accept payments from corporate clients and policyholders, this topic was last reviewed by Ian
Galer in 2015.
Ian s review identified WorldPay as a possible payment provider who can offer various payment
collection methods. However, agent processing would require the need for our call recording

Facilitate retrieving incorrect claims payments or when a policyholder has received a refund and
returns the payment. These issues can be resolved much swifter by card
DSTPolicyholders who may otherwise miss out on an incentive such as continuation of cover
through the lapse process could pay back payments via card. This is an area of huge potential
which is currently handled by a manual application and results in a poor return. Policyholders
could make advance payments for a new health cash plan (or any product), enabling them to
secure cover for a set period of time which could be incentivised by immediate benefit.
Policyholders who leave their company could be given the option to pay their corporate rate in
advance for a set period of time (i.e. 12 months). Using the payment by link service, lapse emails
could be sent rather than a lapse letter which would result in a substantial postal and stationary
saving.

Red Bull gives you wings, is a world famous slogan used to sell endless energy in a can. The
slogan and advertising campaign of the Red Bull corporation uses many different marketing
strategies that utilize weasel words and misleading advertising to increase sales and fool
potential customers. In William Lutz s article, With These Words I Can Sell You Anything,
readers learn what weasel words are; Lutz explains Words to appear to be making a claim for a
product when in fact they are making no claim at all (27). The term weasel word is used in the

Difference Between Credit Card And Debit Card
a)The differences between credit card and debit card
1.Debit card
It is used to pay for goods in shop but must have sufficient money in it to allow the transactions. If
you are buying things with credit card, you are using your own money. Debit card also canbe used
to withdraw money at cash machine. There is a limit to withdraw money as long as you have
sufficient money in it. The money are taken automatically from current account when you spend it
and it will be deducted from the account. Debit card also doesn t have interest, you don t need to
pay any interest because you don t have monthly statement like credit card.

Owning multiple credit card means just tend us to spend more because we have many credit card
which mean higher balance amount. Furthermore, this also means that you need to pay a large bills
and higher amount of debt.
3.Use the balance transfer facility
You can transfer your balance from one credit card to another. Close all balances on credit cards.
In other word, don t use multiple credit cards, just keep one to use. If you have too many credit
cards, you have to pay multiple account and remembers multiple date but if you only have one
credit cards, you just only need to pay one account and remembers one date only.
4.Convert payments to EMIs

The only information I was given from the Director of the Photography were the pictures of the

We put all the lights on dimmers and as we were dimming them down the strobe flash lights
were dimmed up. We had four strobe lights and the consumption of the power of the four strobes
was too much for a one dimmer board. We daisy chained three of them to a one dimmer board
and had one more on the separate board. This effect was created to present an alter ego of the
protagonist and was used to emphasise the change of the mood and emotional state of mind. On
the Figure 5, page 11 you can see a screen shot from that scene. Lighting a round space was a

production design on the background is successful as it establishes the connection between the
reality and the dream. As well as this it can be said that planning lighting for this scene helped me

The Success Of FC Barcelona
Even before they changed the football landscape by inventing the tiki taka style of play, FC
Barcelona have been known for their likable brand of football that always seemed to produce
results. During their long and immensely successful history, they have won 23 La Liga titles, 27
Copa del Rey trophies, five Champions Leagues and four Cup Winners Cups. As one of the
richest and most popular clubs in the world, they can afford to be owned and financed exclusively
by their own supporters. Since its inception, Barcelona has been a major symbol of Catalonia and
its culture, as evidenced by their motto, which says More than a club.
In 1899, football pioneer Joan Gamper decided he wanted to form a football club. After eleven
other enthusiasts responded to his newspaper advert, the dream became a reality and Barcelona
was born. The new club started off well enough; after losing to Bizkaya in the final of the
inaugural Copa del Rey in 1902, Barcelona went on to win the competition eight times between
then and 1928. The following year, they won the inaugural La Liga before entering a period of
decline due to the ongoing political conflicts in the country, which eventually resulted in the
oubreak of the Spanish Civil War.

Didion On Critical Thinking
Klooster: Independent thinking is one of the many key words the author uses. By Independent
thinking the author means that each person forms his or her own ideas. That however does not
mean that they cannot agree with someone else but that they have the ability to choose whether
or not they do. A passage in the text that I found interesting is when the author finally states the
fifth form of critically thinking, which is social thinking. I found this passage important
because the author is write. Critically thinking is influenced by those around us because they
challenge not only our norms but our ideas. Whether we notice if we are thinking critically or
not. The passage where the author states the fourth form of critical thinking, which is seeking
reasoned arguments. For critically thinking one has to defend a claim or point out why they
believe such claim is correct or better and by doing do they need evidence. So while we might
all be entitled to our opinion we should research why we believe a certain thing is superior than
another thing. Didion: The overall purpose of Didion s essay is to show you her writing process.

Zen and the Art of William Shakespeare Essay
Zen and the Art of Shakespeare
Like all Buddhism, Zen is a means by which one can achieve Buddha consciousness, or in effect
total consciousness. Total consciousness means being aware of the true self and its role in regard to
the infinite cosmos of all existence. This awareness allows one insight into or perhaps
understanding of the Tao, the essential singularity to which all things belong. Understanding the
Tao, for Taoists and Zen Buddhists alike, is the equivalentof Nirvana, loosely described as the
utmost fulfillment of one s existence.

In reality, paradise exists under man s nose, and in it man plays the role of God and Satan. Zen
suggests that we have no good reason to escape this reality, and furthermore it is absurd to think
that we really can.
Ultimately, living in Zen is to live extemporaneously. When one truly lives in Zen there is no
equivocation or deliberation. There is only action. Zen is the ever present guiding force in the life
of an individual who adheres only to living. Zen is far away from the individual who abides
whether in thought or deed, in his own disillusions.
In The Tempest, Prospero s final scene is the most Zen like expression in all of Shakespeare. By
virtue of his spells and charms, Prospero has his enemies right where he wants them. Though
with their high wrongs I am struck to th quick, he says. Yet with my nobler reason gainst my
fury do I take part. The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. They being penitent, the sole
drift of my purpose doth extend not a frown further. (Tempest, V.i.20 30) Prospero proceeds to
carry out his act of reconciliation by forgiving his enemies and freeing his slaves. These acts,
though admirable from a moral standpoint are not necessarily expressions of Zen. Prospero s
Zen is expressed in: But this rough magic I do here abjure . . . . . I ll break my staff, bury it
certain fathoms in the earth, and deeper than did ever plummet sound I ll drown my book.

Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
In Raymond Carver s short story, Cathedral , we meet the character who is never named, and who
is known as the narrator to us. Although the narrator s character changed towards the end, and we
don t really learn much after the change of his personality, it is still a gradual change that took
place. The narrator s attitude is very important in the story because it revolves around him and the
way he views things. This short storyis about a man who is married to a woman, and this woman
has been friends with a blind man who is going to visit her at her home, after his wife has just
passed away. The narrator does not like the idea of the blind man visiting his home, and finds
himself very uncomfortable about the visit. He criticizes everything the blind man does, and
does not understand that there is more to life than just having eyesight. The narrator has a
change of insight at the end of the short story due to the blind man named Robert, who shows
him there is more to life than not being able to see. The narrator in this story is a dynamic
character. In the beginning of the story we learn that the narrator is not into the blind man
visiting him in his home, as he states, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one
(Carver 448). The narrator shows signs of jealousy towards the blind man, as his wife speaks of
him very highly, and he is very close to his wife. He is very close minded at the beginning of the

How Does Gail Godwin Use Literary Devices In A Sorrowful...
Literary Response to A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin The short story A Sorrowful Women
by Gail Godwin uses serval literary devices to show the complex emotions of a woman who is
being overcome with anxiety and depression and how it affects her relationship with her
husband and young son. Some of these literary devices include writing in the third person, using
a foil character, contextual symbols, and conventional symbols. The first, literary device is the
use of a third person narrator. This is beneficial to the story because the readers get a broader
understanding of what each character is doing.. This is important because the main character
(the women) is locked up in her room for the majority of the story. If the story was written in 1st
person through her eyes the readers would not know the events that took place outside of the
women s room. Likewise, if the story was told in first person through the eyes of the husband we
would not know what events took place in the room with the women. Another great reason third
person works for this story is because it leaves the reader with many questions. When using first
person in a story we can see the characters stream of consciences. And although their decisions
maybe peculiar to us, we at least see the line of thinking they had when making decisions. So when
Godwin choses to use a third person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The theme Regret and Loss in Separating, Those Winter Sundays, and We are Virginia Tech Those
Winter Sundays, Separating, and We are Virginia Tech were written by three different authors, each
having their own unique styles and personality reflected in their works. The short story Separating,
written by John Updikewas published in 1974, it was written in the third person point of view. John
Updike was considered as one of the greatest American fictionwriter of his generation due to his
unique prose style, rich description and language. His short story, explores themes such as regret,
anger and self interest. Both We are Virginia Tech and Those Winter Sundays are written in first
person point of view. Those Winter Sundays is a work of Robert Hayden, and was published in
the year 1966. The poem explores the topic of sacrifice and regret; the tone being, one of

Similarities Between Shintoism And Buddhism
In Japan, there are many different religions, some may not be as significant as others, but they are
existing there. Some of these religions include Shintoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity,
etc.. but I have narrowed it down to the two most prominent religions in the nation of Japan:
Shintoism and Buddhism. In this research paper, I am going to describe these two religions more in
depth, such as the beliefs, the differences, the similarities, how these religions act toward another
(Contradict or compliment each other) and I will even show you how these religions has changed
Japan in the last 50 years.
One of the major religions that have existed in Japan is Shintoism, this religion pretty much as old
as Japan itself. Shintoism was started in Japan, the beliefs in Shintoism include focusing on ritual
practices that are carried out diligently to establish a connection between present day Japan and its
past. Shintoists believe in Kami, or gods, examples of Kami include but are not limited to
Amaterasu, goddess of the sun, Fujin, god of the wind, among the oldest of Shinto gods, Hachiman,

Shintoism and Buddhism are the same because they both had left a large unforgettable mark in the
history of Japan. Another similarity is that both of these religions originated in the same continent.
Two differences between Shintoism and Buddhism are that Shintoism is all about the human spirit
/soul, and buddhism is more concerned with the body and mind. Another difference is that
Shintoists believe in many kami, or gods, while in contrast, buddhists believe in certain deities. In
conclusion, as you can see, these two religions seem like they can compliment each other, right?
Well they can, and they do, even though their origins are different from each other, it is possible to
incorporate both of these religions into

Religion, Poverty, and Wealth Essay
Religion, Poverty, and Wealth
Christians believe strongly in world equality, as they feel that they have a responsibility to care for
the poor and needy. These responsibilities are based upon the five key Christian ideas
1. Stewardship
Genesis (1: 28 31)
In this story God creates Adam and Eve. He builds a beautiful house and a beautiful garden with
trees laden with ripe and delicious fruit for them to live in. Pick the fruit and eat it freely, God
told them, but do not eat the fruit from the tree in the middle as it is evil, and if eaten you will die.
One day a cunning snake persuaded Eve to eat a piece of fruit from the forbidden tree. After much
persuasion Eve reluctantly took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Lord Elijah was enraged and cursed the King s family for eternity.
The moral of this story is to not use your power to demand personal and sentimental belongings
from others. But Bob Geldof has twisted this parable by using his power to help poverty stricken
people (Make Poverty History fund).
3. Human life is sacred
Genesis (1: 26 27)
All men and women are created equal. In Genesis we are told that every individual is special
because we are all made in the image of God. Rich or poor we are all of equal importance and every
life is sacred.
This teaching is emphasising Christians to treat everyone equally disregarding their creed, colour,
culture or finical purposes.
4. The Golden rule
Luke (10: 25 37)
The Good Samaritan
There was once a Jew who was travelling along a long and dangerous road. All of a sudden a
group of robbers beat him and stole his belongings, they left him stripped and half dead by the
roadside. A priest walked past and saw the body, but quickly moved on, afterwards a Levite
walked past and did the same thing. Then a Samaritan walked past, no Jew had ever been nice to
him, but he still helped the injured man by wrapping his wounds in bandages. He carefully lifted
him onto his donkey and took him to the nearest inn, ordering the inn keeper to look after and treat
the injured

Mom was always getting arrested for her cocaine addiction and Eminem was starting to become
famous for his rapping. It was a lot to handle at one time for the children. He tells his daughters to:
Straighten up little soldier stiffen up that upper lip. He s telling them to be strong and that
everything will be okay someday. ( Eminem Mockingbird. ) Now, let s consider the second verse
of the song. He tells of a story where one Christmas he had no money to buy presents for his
daughters. He had to keep food on the table instead. Eminem and Kim (his wife) tried to start a
college savings for their daughters, but every time they tried saving up, their house always got
broken into. Life got worse, and they both eventually moved out. Eminem was starting to get
famous for his CD, and he had to start working for his rap career, distancing himself even further
from his daughters. He is sorry that his kids had to go through this. He only wanted to make a
good image for them. Now he is all alone in a house remembering the past of them. He finally
reminds his daughters that Mom will not be gone long. ( Eminem Mockingbird. )
As with any topic, when an individual takes the time to do their research, usually they will
appreciate the subject a little bit more than they used to. This is exactly what we did. We read the
lyrics and we found the message behind Eminem s songs. Songs like this usually will contain a
message in them,

Vroom Vroom! This is the welcomed sound that automobile owners and manufacturers like to hear.
It is the sound of completion, success, and satisfaction. But what happens when this sound is
drowned out by weakened profits, customer dissatisfaction, and industry weakness? In comes the
government bailout of the automobile industry. In recent years, 2008 2010, Ford, GM, and Chrysler
had to be saved from self destruction and bankruptcy through government incentives, loans, and
emergency funding. In December of 2008 these 3 automakers asked the government for monetary
assistance that totaled approximately 34 billion dollars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Chrysler, the automobile industry is one that is very populated with different car
manufacturers. Chrysler should make sure that it has an understanding of the population that it is
targeting and the ability that people in this population have to purchase a car. Also, Chrysler
should take into account the level of economic stimulation present in that particular population.
For example, what is the unemployment rate in that particular area, what is the median income
for the population, and how prevalent is public transportation (bus, taxi, subway, etc) in this
area? * Political/Legal: The political portion of the general environment is often overlooked
because businesses and people alike think that it is enough to follow the laws and abide by
regulations set forth by the government. This is incorrect. Many automobile companies such as
Chrysler operate in foreign countries and look to export their products to foreign countries as
well. The laws and regulations in these foreign countries have to be navigated and understood just
as precisely as those in the home country. In the case of Chrysler, when it was acquired by
Daimler Benz, the company had to develop a whole new outlook on its business practices. Taxation
policies had to be revamped polices on the export, import, and manufacturer of

Year-Round School
Year Round School
Imagine a school year that never ends. A year without summer, relaxation, and vacations with
family. Summer is the time of year that every student cannot wait arrive. But what if the playful
time filled with friends, smiles, and laughter did not exist? What if school remained in session year
round? This is happening in 3,181 schools across America and is gradually increasing
(edweek.org). The government calls it: Year Round School. There are both many pros and cons to
this controversial issue in today s education; however, Year Round Schoolis not a good decision
because of the social outcomes, the financial costs, and the academic effects that Year Round
School burdens on the students. This is how the Year Round School format would work. Students
would attend school for a certain amount of days, and then the students would receive a longer
break period. This would be repeated all year long. Primarily, the education administration is taking
the summer break and splitting it equally throughout the year (nayre.org). The school districts that
Year Round School will help students, yet it may actually hurt them socially. For example, the long
summer break provides students with the exciting opportunities such as camps and family
vacations. These are learning opportunities that take place outside of the classroom by teaching
young children valuable life skills including patience, teamwork, and tolerance (ltisdschools.org ).

The Rise Of The Prefabricated Tower Block
To understand the rise of the prefabricated tower block it is important to recognize that their
existence came about as a reaction to contemporary architecture which was codified at the state
level. During and after the Second World War, Soviet Realism became the dominant force in
urban architecture in the Soviet sphere, especially as Moscow installed puppet states
throughout the Eastern Bloc which copied the policies of the USSR. This development was not
accepted well by architects and intellectuals, especially in Germany, where the legacy of pre war
modernism was very obvious in cities like Berlin, but also in cities like Moscow, Prague, and
Sofia where the classicism endorsed by Stalin was like going back a century. Stalin s preference
for a building style highlighting the power of the Soviet people resulted in a complete stagnation
of other forms or architecture, and although very solidly built, his buildings were built on mostly
important thoroughfares as prestige projects since the state could hardly pay for every building to
fit this style, making its impact on most citizens negligible unless they were privileged enough to
get an apartment in one of these buildings. So, rather than to further soviet goals of housing for all,
these buildings made social stratification very obvious, as homeless laborers would walk down
streets past new buildings with ornate stonework in which they had little hope of ever stepping
inside, let alone living. In terms of interior program,

In the following two scenes it is possible to find many instances of the techniques which make this
possible and to perceive more fully the connection between what we are shown and what this leads
us to presume.
In the first of the two scenes we witness the introduction of Cole and Dr Crowe in what appears to
be a pre arranged visit. A vital part of convincing the audienceof his existence is in creating the
illusion of interaction between himself and others and in the opening of the scene, the body
language of Cole s mother and Dr Crowe is used to suggest this. In medium shot, (often used to
provide a ?blank sheet? for emotions), we see the two characters in profile. While Dr Crowe is
calm and smiling slightly, Cole s mother holds her body angled away from him and has a tight,
cold expression, giving a definite impression of tension. From this it appears that a conversation
and more probably a disagreement has taken place between them, as a ghost he would be unable
to do this, the audience would have no reason to suspect him at this point. The tension also
allows us to presume that she looks away from him in order to avoid his gaze, rather than as a
result of his invisibility. However, both here and when Cole enters the room medium close up
shots and shots over the shoulder provide us with a view Dr Crowe s line of sight and of course it
is only natural to assume that if his gaze was

Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity
Summary
Enwistle s book, Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity: An introduction to
worldview issues, philosophical foundations, and models of integration (2010) is a text that
explores integrating psychology and Christianity. We start out by learning about integration related
to both psychology and Christianity. Is this a thing? Is integration between these two subjects a
subject itself? Enwistle explores through time to reveal how psychology and Christianity have been
both closely studied and intertwined throughout time. Enwistle (2010) defines Christian psychology
as a commitment to a Christian worldview that shapes how psychology is studied and applies, and
that recognizes that there are specific Christian resources that uniquely reveal crucial aspects of
what it means to be human (p. 14). Those in the psychology or counseling field who are also
Christian have unique and different approaches but they draw from both Christianity and
psychology to help them succeed.

About Stereotyping and Prejudice
Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see

To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence.

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of
correlation and experimental studies concluded that system justification motives result in
stereotyping and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that
people who feel part of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact
of system justification threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is
satisfied through an alternative route.
The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they
aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social
structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need
for a justification? Simply because systems provide structure and humans need that

Vietnam War in Movie Full Medal Jacket Directed by Stanley...
Full Medal Jacket directed by Stanley Kubrick raises questions about the Vietnam war and war
in general. Kubrick opens up the film with boot camp, a majority of the film takes place with
boot camp because Kubrick wants the viewer to be mindful that the boot camp that was taking
place was to prepare you to be a killer. Almost like a psychological preparation to kill. Boot camp
was so intense that it broke down all of the moral human bonds the soldiers once had before they
joined the army. As most people know before boot camp you are sent to get your head shaven
because its cleaner and less of a hassle. Kubrick has all the men lined up taking orders from
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman who is basically bad mouthing all the men lined up teaching them
how to have a hard heart such as I don t like the name Lawrence, only faggots and sailors are called
Lawrence. From now on you re Gomer Pyle. Sir, yes, sir.

say You think you John Wayne under his breath. This could be seen as a death wish in the army.

The French and Germans were the first Europeans to settle on the island (Weiner, 1988). The
leadership system was very competitive. The most powerful and wealthy men was declared
chiefs and led their respective communities. Question Two Children were married by the age of
twelve (Weiner, 1988). In addition, women were encouraged to exchange partners and be
dominant and assertive just like their male counterparts. Once couple ate together and shared the
same roof for approximately one year, they marriage was made official. Yams were the major
commodity that was used to create alliance between families (Weiner, 1988). Question Three
Bronislaw Malinowski and Annette Weiner were anthropologists who studied Trobrianders
society. Malinowski s primary goal was to examine the Kula trade. Even though Wiener s original
goal was to study the proprietary of women and mortuary ceremonies, she ended up reanalyzing
Malinowski s work. They both studied the role of women in the Trobriand society but arrived at
different conclusions. According to Malinowski, women were inferior to men and regarded as

Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill
Chelsea Kearney
PHIL 231: Ethics
28 April 2015
Essay 2
Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality
The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of
philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some
similar outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected
this important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel
Kant, and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I
personally prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and
contrasting the positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons
why I have chosen John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in
morality.
Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from
384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics
, Aristotle outlines the thoughts of
the general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical
premises. But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle
introduces the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the
roles of different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures
and soul pleasures.

Conceptualization Of Slope
Before this adventure in slope, I know I have never said to anyone slope is the most basic rate of
change . Basic may not be the appropriate word, but slope is typically a student s first
introduction to rate of change and it is somewhat simple, since the slope is the constant rate of
change for a linear function. Where am I going with this you may wonder? Semester after
semester I have introduced, reviewed, and examined slope with students, but I may have also
caused a disconnect in students conceptualizations of slope. I never said, slope is the most basic
rate of change . It was evident from my interview with Lawson that he did not initially connect the
slope in his algebra courses to the rate of change in his calculus course. He

Analysis Of Gift From The Sea By Anne Morrow Lindbergh
In Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Anne depicts her experiences during her vacation
on a beach. She uses aspects of the beach as metaphors that relates back to humanity. These
personifications can also be related to similarities between humans and the environment.
Throughout the book, there are lessons to be learned from the sea, which are essentially the gifts
from the sea. The narrator uses shells or different features of the beach to describe how humans can
learn from the sea and how the relationship between humans and nature has changed. At the
beginning of Anne s story, she says The sea does not reward those who are too anxious... . She
writes that the sea teaches patience, which is not a characteristic that humanity acquires

The Pros And Cons Of The Swedish Healthcare System
There are a few positive externalizes from the Swedish healthcare system. First, there are set
limits on how much an individual will spend before the government will pay for all the fees
(David Hogberg). This helps people when they have lots of medical expenses. For example 200
kronas, about $24, is the most patients will pay annually for prescription drugs (David Hogberg).
The system is set up so that the central government controls the laws and regulation which makes
the distribution of heath care fair. In addition private practice is heavily regulated (Swedish
Institute). The regulation helps to ensure that the care for citizens who get private or public care
receive similar care. Another benefit of the health care system is that there is no direct charge to
patients under 20 years of age when they go to receive dental care (David Hogberg).... Show more

The biggest problem that Sweden encounters is the long waiting lists (David Hogberg). The long
lists restrict people from seeing doctors in a timely manner. People who have private insurance
can skip the waiting lists (David Hogberg). Swedes who do not have private insurance must wait,
often for months, for treatment (David Hogberg). Equal access to all restricts an individual s
access because there is only some many resources available at any time. The wait lists create
problems for the citizens. According to a study the long wait times have increased anxiety and
depression amongst patients (David Hogberg). In another study respondents indicated that because
of the long waits they have a deep sense of lost dignity, powerlessness and frustration (R.N Mats
Sjöling). Waiting lists is the largest issue that this system

There was also concern if current education can develop a nurse s preparedness in delivering
quality care (Griffiths et al, 2012). One of the participants stated you might be the best clinician in
the world but if you can t communicate and you can t listen properly to people and you don t take
on board and understand what they re saying you may as well go dig the street (Griffiths et al,
2012). Furthermore another participant stated ...each individual should be [evaluated] and their
needs be assessed and implemented on that particular individual...I just feel it s a conveyor belt
system. Get them in and get them out sort of thing (Griffiths et al, 2012). In another qualitative
review which explored nurse s perspectives on patient centred care, suggested time management
was the largest barrier preventing them from communicating effectively with their patients (Chan et
al, 2012). One nurse stated sometimes, I have to deal with 20 patients in one single shift... if one
needs 10 minutes and there are 20 patients in total, how much time would we have to spend on
this? Don t we need to do other tasks? (Chan et al, 2012). According to the Australian Commission

What Is St Mary s County Essay
St Mary s county is considered to be part of the Western Shore and extends from Charlotte Hall to
its most Southern tip at Point Lookout. The peninsula is bordered by the Potomac Rivers, the
Patuxent River on the northeast and the Chesapeake Bay to the east making it an ideal spot for
abundant water activities such as fishing, jet skiing, water skiing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.
The concern is that the access to these waterways is limited, especially in Leonardtown. Local water
enthusiasts desiring to launch their crafts have to do so in remote locations throughout St Mary s
County. These include Abell s Wharf, Chaptico Wharf, Great Mills kayak and canoe launch,
Greenwell State Park, Piney Point Landing, and lots of others throughout... Show more content on

Including the roadway will make it more efficient for boaters to get their boat in the water and
so that kayakers and paddle boarders don t have to lug their heavy and awkward shaped craft a
couple hundred feet anymore. To use the launch and slips, a permit is needed which will be
granted from the town. This fixture will be a convenience and will be a much nicer upgrade to the
kayak launch at the wharf now. Currently there is a 6 x 6 soft launch that serves as an access point
to the water. It is very unstable and remains submerged during high tide. According to Gabrielle
Giovenco, a local kayaker/paddle boarder, the launch is positioned to far distance from the
parking lot and is unstable which makes it difficult to safely launch you re vessel. The dock is
also black which makes it very difficult to stand on in the summer when the sun is at its peak.
The constant burn on my feet is terrible. (Giovenco, Gabrielle) Following a six month analysis of
different style docks/launches, I have determined that a floating dock with boat slips, a fishing
area, and a launch for kayaks and canoes would be the better fit for the Wharf than a hard dock. It
will not only address current concerns, but it will also allow for future expansion at the Wharf site.
When entering from Washington Street the new dock will remain in its current location resulting in
less of an inconvenience for everyone.

Who Is The Protagonist In The Cellar
The kidnapping The book I am reading is called The Cellar, written by Natasha Preston. The
main character in this book is a 16 year old girl named Summer. Summer lives in a small town
with her mom, dad and brother, Henry. One evening Summer wanted to meet some friends at a
club to hang out and have fun. The club is only a two minute walk from her house through the
woods and she had done it many times. She left the house in a rush, quickly saying goodbye to
her parents and boyfriend, Lewis. Never once thinking about the dangers of walking outside
alone at night. When Summer got to the club her best friend Kerri found her and asked if she d
seen their other friend Rachel in the woods because she ran off after getting upset about a boy.
Summer said she didn t see her, so they thought they should probably go look for her. After
calling Rachel s name and getting no response, Kerri and Summer decided to split up and look
for her separately. Just about the time Kerri was out of Summers sight a guy hiding behind a tree

Historiography Of Karnataka
A much early historiography of Karnataka by Aluru Venkatarao also delineates on similar lines
identifying the juncture of Battle of Talikota in 1565 as the time of decline of glory of Karnataka.
In his 1917 work titled Karnataka Gatha Vaibhava , Aluru Venkata Rao writes thus:
Having flourished for 230 years this glorious kingdom disappeared in half a minute by accident. It
dies. That was the end of Karnataka s glory. The kumkum was wiped off Karnatakadevi s
forehead! The mangalsutra round her neck was cut! Karnataka s wealth was destroyed Karnataka
s intellectual wealth disappeared. The sun of Karnataka s valour set. To summarise: since that day,
we people of Karnataka have become an empty name in history. Oh, ye of Karnataka, has the time
still not arrived for a recovery of past glories? Think about it. (71)
For Aluru Venkata Rao, the glory of Karnataka has flourished for about 230 years, while the 1947
historiography of Karnataka takes it much farther back in time. However, a significant aspect to be
noticed in the above quoted excerpt is the metaphorical manner in which the land Karnataka is
sketched in the image of a goddess. The appropriation of Karnataka in the image of ... Show more

Shilpa Phadke, speaking in general about the Women s movement in Indiapoints to the fact that:
The movement in the late 1970s constructed itself as secular but did not make any effort to define
its identity as such. It was assumed that affiliations with the women s movement were based on
gender and positions of difference were articulately largely on grounds of class rather than caste or
religious community. Class was constructed as a modern identity unlike caste or religious
community, which were seen as pre modern identities to be transcended.

The Giver Movie And Book Comparison Essay
The Giver started off as a book. Then it was transformed into a movie. These are some differences
between the two. First off, in the book Jonas is 12 years old and in the movie he is 18. Which
brings me to my next reason. They added a special вќ¤ between Jonas and Fionaп’‹ that was not in
the book. In the movie there was a lot of things left out. Like in the movie they skipped a year.
When you look In the book it showed when he was a 11 and then his sister was waiting for a bike.
Also when Jonasleft in the movie the givergave him the memory of strength and courage. In the
book he does not receive the memories of strength and courage. In the movie when Jonas was
escaping from the community he rode off in a motorcycle from one of the leaders. In the book
he rode a bike. In the book when Jonas is riding away with Gabe he has to hide behind trees and
duck behind bushes so he would not be seen by the drones. He also runs out of water so he has to
drink from a pond he passes. In the movie there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here they are. The movie and the book have all of the same characters. The movie didn t add
anything or leave out any characters. The book and the movie have the same concept. Like
Jonas has been chosen to be the new receiver of memory. He gets the memories and figures
something bad out. So then he wants to leave because his brother is going to be killed. He has to
go to elsewhere to give the community all of the memories. The book says that there is no color.
In the movie it is all in black and white until the very end where he gives everyone the memories.
In the book they all have the same jobs as the movie they did not add any or take any away. The
movie had the same type of community as the book. They have the same rules and the same
objects. Finally they have the same memories. Except in the movie they have like a montage of him
getting the memories. In the book they have them all

Overfishing And Its Effects On The Environment
In today s world most people do not care about the environment. People abuse the natural resources
that we were given for their own benefit. It is estimated that 60 percent of the worlds population
lives within 60km of the coast and that each year more than 2 billion tons of carbon dioxide is
absorbed into the ocean. Almost all of the problems with the ocean are man made. Ocean heath has
deteriorated due to humans depleting fishsupplies, polluting the ocean, and a general lack of
knowledge about just how fragile the ocean is.
Overfishing is one of the largest and most relevant problems effecting ocean health today. It is
defined as The practice of commercial and non commercial fishing which depletes a fishery by
catching so many adult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the past several decades, humans have caused the health of our ocean to decline considerably.
Along with climate change and ocean acidification, overfishing has destroyed many marine
ecosystems. In the 1990 s, one of the worlds most abundant cod populations was quickly destroyed.
The Newfoundland cod fishery had been one of the most productive cod fisheries in the world.
Fishing for cod in Newfoundland had dated back to the 16th century, when the amount of fish
seemed endless. The Canadians had traditionally fished sustainably for cod using small boats
and traditional methods such as jigging or small inshore gill nets, but in the 1950 s and 1960 s
other countries began to join in on the fishing, using larger boats and nets. England, U.S., The
Soviet Union, Spain, Portugal and Germany all joined in on the action, increasing the annual
catch from 250,000 tons to over 800,000 tons in 1968. From then on, the population slowly
began to decline. With so many being caught each year, the fish were no longer able to reproduce
as efficiently and renew their numbers to keep up with the demand. In addition to an increase in
the commercial fishing fleets, new fishing technologies were created to help catch as many fish as
possible. Larger nets that dragged along the bottom were created to catch every possible fish.
These nets were killing young fish, other marine life, and the food source for the cod, which
eventually led to the entire

  • 2. Advantages Of Takaful Takaful business was established based on Takaful Act 1984 as a guideline and reference for the operation of takaful to companies. According to the Act, there are two groups of takaful business which are family solidarity business and general business. Family solidarity business concerns with solidarity certificates that include any type of takaful business carried on as incidental only to the operator s other solidarity business while general business is all takaful business which is not family solidarity business (Malaysia, Takaful Act 1984). Basically, the general takaful is same like conventional insurancewhich focus on coverage against material loss and damage such as natural disasters while family takaful is more on life insurance that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obstacles to achieve higher market penetration of takaful are because of lack of players, market awareness, lack of products, low capitalisation of takaful companies, poor culture of consumer education and inconsistent messages from some Shariah advisories (Parker, 2006). Competitive advantages of takaful are on the unique offerings and follow the Shariah compliance that should be utilised by the Malaysian takaful operators. Research methodology used for this paper is on literature review on a few articles in the scope of takaful. The main focus on these articles is on the marketing strategies that can be used to promote the takaful insurance by understanding the costumers behaviours to create awareness. These analyses are emphasised more on the family takaful insurance in the takaful industry. Due to lack of awareness of Malaysians on takaful insurance and its products offerings and also low of market penetration, the best method is by analysing the purchase intention and also participations behaviours of potential customers. Empirical researches have been conducted to investigate the behaviours of these customers and further give recommendations to takaful operators and takaful marketers to conduct appropriate marketing plan to these potential customers (Rahman, ... • 3. C Sole Industry Analysis Ace Athletics has prioritized the high end segment of the footwear industry since the beginning. We feel that being an industry leading in quality and technology is our best chance at building and sustaining our long term plans. There are several reasons for our stance on the industry, but the most obvious being is S/Q rating. As the industry leading in S/Q rating us as well as C Sole have been able to consistently beat the market and develop into our closest competitor. Another reason we feel that the high end of the spectrum offers the most opportunity and profitability is the differentiation what we show in the marketplace. We are able to compete on price every year while still offering the quality shoes that customers demand. Finally, we feel that succeeding in the high end market would provide us a strong base that would allow us room to branch off and dominate other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ace Athletics and C Sole have had very similar competitive strategies as well as execution. C Sole s greatest strength is their ability to maintain a high S/Q rating in every market. That strategy has worked well for them, but has shown potential to be damaged by our recent ability to offer better prices and retail support. In the past several years Ace Athletics has positioned ourself to take over large portions of the markets away from C Sole. The opportunity for Ace Athletics has never been greater. We have figured out a way to keep our cost of goods sold competitive. Even with the lowest quality of the industry. This result is from heavy investments in our employees trainings and large plant and capacity upgrades. Customers are clearly concerned with the quality they are paying for, and it has been one of our goals to meet that demand. Going forward we are looking to revolutionizing the footwear industry and building upon our relationships with our investors, employees, vendors, and customers to take full advantage of the global shoe ... Facing a difficult challenge for caregivers of young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) isn t easy, yet it s hard due to the fact of deciding on the proper treatment plan for the child. Programs emphasizing usage of structured settings, tight stimulus control, and adult directed instruction are labeled as current evidence that supports the early educational interventions which is based on the developmental and applied behavioral analytic principles leading to the models that focus on opportunities of naturalistic delivery of learning within child led routines. Nevertheless, calibration with intervention gains of treatment approaches from substantial to modest and resulting in treatment approaches to be variable. Limitation is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Testing the effect of every possible combination of evidence based interventions and every possible factor that might be related to outcomes is logistically unfeasible. Therefore, a research program informed by theory driven hypotheses is crucial for facilitating a rational use of research resources in these areas (Vivanti, 2017, p.114 115). The ASD is an early intervention field due to having a relevant obstacle in the research agenda at a pre paradigmatic stage (Kuhn, 1962) which is a stage where practices are informed by competing meta theoretical orientations (e.g., behavioral theory, cognitive theory, and developmental theory) operate in consonance with disparate vocabularies and criteria used for appraising evidence (Ingersoll, 2010; Smith, 2014). Different treatments of individualization and combination have to generate testable prognosis, current frameworks of pre paradigmatic should be developed into full fledged scientific theories which utilize parameters and constraints to formulate treatment targets and therapeutic change of hypothesized nature. In this research, the hypothesis of treatment used will oblige the reformulation of rationales treatment in four sets of explicit terms of explanatory/predictive statements which are (1) logical coherence, (2) falsifiability, (3) ... • 6. The Tasmanian Tiger And The Extinction Of The Tasmanian Tiger Extinction of the Tasmanian Tiger September 7, 1936 marked the final day of the existence of the Tasmanian Tiger. Restricted to the boundaries of its man made cage, the last Tasmanian Tiger slipped into a never ending slumber, leaving behind a somber echo of what once was. Playing the role of an invasive species, humans played a huge part in the avoidable extinction of this species, along with the introduction of the dingo. The de extinction movement has presented the possibility of bringing back the tasmanian tiger after 81 years of declared extinction. Whether this plan is followed through with or not, the extinction of this creature brought to the attention of the world the need to protect our ever fading species diversity. The tasmanian tiger is also known as the tasmanian wolf or thylacine, and its binomial nomenclature is Thylacinus cynocephalus. Thylacine roamed throughout Tasmania, which is an island off of the coast of Australia; Tasmania displays the characteristics of a cool, temperate rainforest (Parks Wildlife Service). These creatures presented a unique combination of characteristics; stripes glided down the their lower backs, their tails were stiffly similar to that of a kangaroo, and their bodies were built like a canine. Both males and females had backward facing pouches, indicating that thylacines are marsupials (Old 2). Sexual dimorphism was noticeable through the greater length of the males in comparison to the females (Paddle 4). A form of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Public Spaces Race and Power in Public Spaces Last Friday, June 26, I have chosen to go to the food court inside the Students Union in order to make my observation for this second ethnographic paper. As we discussed in class, observation is type of field work that anthropologists do in order to collect data and effectuate studies about the same data. As a way to collect better results in my observation at the Students Unions, I decided to go during launch time willing to observe a huge number of people in that place. While I was there, I was focused on observing the way people behave when they are in a public sphere, and how do they interact with each other. When I first arrived there, the first thing that I have noticed is that most of the people in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I saw the way the Mexicans were behaving, I realized that it was connected to the idea of power that we have discussed in class. As the teacher said in class, Power is the ability or potential to bring about change (Storey). I believe that this idea applies to the Mexicans that I observed because they feel incapable to bring change in America, so they act a little shy in public spaces. In my opinion, if the American society treated all the people in the same way, avoiding the creation of stereotypes about people from different races, those people would behave in a different way. Because race is very important in America, people that is not white feel pressured to behave in certain way that will not bother people with power, just like how the Mexican that I say acted like. On the other hand, I have also made a connection to the concept that racism is socially constructed, when people started to look at me in different way because I was sitting with a white girl. This made me realize that because America does not feel comfortable about interracial relationship, they promote racism, and as consequence, Americans do not know how to act in situations like this, so they see it as strange or uncommon just like when they saw me with a white girl. People had used symbols and ideas to get points across to help push and fix where society has holes to further integrate the perfect principles that will then replace social norms, and break through what once was a flawed belief system. the social rights activist Malcom X was one of these icons who fought to create a better world for African Americans. The three main key events that are included in the novel include the crucial reasoning to why Malcolm expressed himself the way he did. The events that distinguished Malcolm s character were racial identity, systemic oppression, and integration v separation. Ruth Handler created Barbie, after noticing her daughter playing with paper dolls and she was playing the role of a mother, as most women were expected to be. The basic standard for women were to be a housewife, and most young girl s toys were children or infants. Ms. Handler wanted to influence young girls to be anything they wanted. Barbie s purpose was to be an adult to further portray the young girl s dreams, which is why she specifically sought out an adult woman to depict her doll, this way when young girls play pretend they would seek a better future outside of motherhood. Both Malcolm x and Barbie received a great deal of criticism before becoming famous and influential, Malcolm x was viewed as a racist and a criminal, he was put in jail and spent seven years there. We had four strobe lights and the consumption of the power of the four strobes was too much for a one dimmer board. This effect was created to present an alter ego of the protagonist and was used to emphasise the change of the mood and emotional state of mind. On the Figure 5, page 11 you can see a screen shot from that scene. Lighting a round space was a challenging however I am happy with the result of this scene and think that the highlight on the production design on the background is successful as it establishes the connection between the reality and the dream. As well as this it can be said that planning lighting for this scene helped me to think outside of the box. During Production into Practice unit we had to work with the location and push the light according to it whereas in this situation we shaped the studio with light to create a believable surrounding and add depth. The Success Of FC Barcelona Even before they changed the football landscape by inventing the tiki taka style of play, FC Barcelona have been known for their likable brand of football that always seemed to produce results. During their long and immensely successful history, they have won 23 La Liga titles, 27 Copa del Rey trophies, five Champions Leagues and four Cup Winners Cups. As one of the richest and most popular clubs in the world, they can afford to be owned and financed exclusively by their own supporters. Since its inception, Barcelona has been a major symbol of Catalonia and its culture, as evidenced by their motto, which says More than a club. In 1899, football pioneer Joan Gamper decided he wanted to form a football club. After eleven other enthusiasts responded to his newspaper advert, the dream became a reality and Barcelona was born. The new club started off well enough; after losing to Bizkaya in the final of the inaugural Copa del Rey in 1902, Barcelona went on to win the competition eight times between then and 1928. • 14. Didion On Critical Thinking Klooster: Independent thinking is one of the many key words the author uses. By Independent thinking the author means that each person forms his or her own ideas. That however does not mean that they cannot agree with someone else but that they have the ability to choose whether or not they do. A passage in the text that I found interesting is when the author finally states the fifth form of critically thinking, which is social thinking. I found this passage important because the author is write. Critically thinking is influenced by those around us because they challenge not only our norms but our ideas. Whether we notice if we are thinking critically or not. The passage where the author states the fourth form of critical thinking, which is seeking reasoned arguments. For critically thinking one has to defend a claim or point out why they believe such claim is correct or better and by doing do they need evidence. So while we might all be entitled to our opinion we should research why we believe a certain thing is superior than another thing. Didion: The overall purpose of Didion s essay is to show you her writing process. Which is that something so vague like a picture or a memory can create a whole novel. • 15. Zen and the Art of William Shakespeare Essay Zen and the Art of Shakespeare Like all Buddhism, Zen is a means by which one can achieve Buddha consciousness, or in effect total consciousness. Total consciousness means being aware of the true self and its role in regard to the infinite cosmos of all existence. This awareness allows one insight into or perhaps understanding of the Tao, the essential singularity to which all things belong. Understanding the Tao, for Taoists and Zen Buddhists alike, is the equivalentof Nirvana, loosely described as the utmost fulfillment of one s existence. With all of it s lofty, mystical terms and ideas, Zen Buddhism can seem very hard to talk about much less understand and follow. The beauty of Zen, though, is its practicality,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reality, paradise exists under man s nose, and in it man plays the role of God and Satan. Zen suggests that we have no good reason to escape this reality, and furthermore it is absurd to think that we really can. Ultimately, living in Zen is to live extemporaneously. When one truly lives in Zen there is no equivocation or deliberation. There is only action. Zen is the ever present guiding force in the life of an individual who adheres only to living. Zen is far away from the individual who abides whether in thought or deed, in his own disillusions. In The Tempest, Prospero s final scene is the most Zen like expression in all of Shakespeare. By virtue of his spells and charms, Prospero has his enemies right where he wants them. Though with their high wrongs I am struck to th quick, he says. Yet with my nobler reason gainst my fury do I take part. The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. They being penitent, the sole drift of my purpose doth extend not a frown further. (Tempest, V.i.20 30) Prospero proceeds to carry out his act of reconciliation by forgiving his enemies and freeing his slaves. These acts, though admirable from a moral standpoint are not necessarily expressions of Zen. Prospero s Zen is expressed in: But this rough magic I do here abjure . . . . . I ll break my staff, bury it certain fathoms in the earth, and deeper than did ever plummet sound I ll drown my book. (Tempest.V.i.51 57) He has reached some state of ... • 16. Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral In Raymond Carver s short story, Cathedral , we meet the character who is never named, and who is known as the narrator to us. Although the narrator s character changed towards the end, and we don t really learn much after the change of his personality, it is still a gradual change that took place. The narrator s attitude is very important in the story because it revolves around him and the way he views things. This short storyis about a man who is married to a woman, and this woman has been friends with a blind man who is going to visit her at her home, after his wife has just passed away. The narrator does not like the idea of the blind man visiting his home, and finds himself very uncomfortable about the visit. He criticizes everything the blind man does, and does not understand that there is more to life than just having eyesight. The narrator has a change of insight at the end of the short story due to the blind man named Robert, who shows him there is more to life than not being able to see. The narrator in this story is a dynamic character. In the beginning of the story we learn that the narrator is not into the blind man visiting him in his home, as he states, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one (Carver 448). • 17. How Does Gail Godwin Use Literary Devices In A Sorrowful... Literary Response to A Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin The short story A Sorrowful Women by Gail Godwin uses serval literary devices to show the complex emotions of a woman who is being overcome with anxiety and depression and how it affects her relationship with her husband and young son. Some of these literary devices include writing in the third person, using a foil character, contextual symbols, and conventional symbols. The first, literary device is the use of a third person narrator. This is beneficial to the story because the readers get a broader understanding of what each character is doing.. This is important because the main character (the women) is locked up in her room for the majority of the story. If the story was written in 1st person through her eyes the readers would not know the events that took place outside of the women s room. Likewise, if the story was told in first person through the eyes of the husband we would not know what events took place in the room with the women. Another great reason third person works for this story is because it leaves the reader with many questions. When using first person in a story we can see the characters stream of consciences. And although their decisions maybe peculiar to us, we at least see the line of thinking they had when making decisions. So when Godwin choses to use a third person... The Rise Of The Prefabricated Tower Block To understand the rise of the prefabricated tower block it is important to recognize that their existence came about as a reaction to contemporary architecture which was codified at the state level. During and after the Second World War, Soviet Realism became the dominant force in urban architecture in the Soviet sphere, especially as Moscow installed puppet states throughout the Eastern Bloc which copied the policies of the USSR. This development was not accepted well by architects and intellectuals, especially in Germany, where the legacy of pre war modernism was very obvious in cities like Berlin, but also in cities like Moscow, Prague, and Sofia where the classicism endorsed by Stalin was like going back a century. Stalin s preference for a building style highlighting the power of the Soviet people resulted in a complete stagnation of other forms or architecture, and although very solidly built, his buildings were built on mostly important thoroughfares as prestige projects since the state could hardly pay for every building to fit this style, making its impact on most citizens negligible unless they were privileged enough to get an apartment in one of these buildings. So, rather than to further soviet goals of housing for all, these buildings made social stratification very obvious, as homeless laborers would walk down streets past new buildings with ornate stonework in which they had little hope of ever stepping inside, let alone living. In the first of the two scenes we witness the introduction of Cole and Dr Crowe in what appears to be a pre arranged visit. A vital part of convincing the audienceof his existence is in creating the illusion of interaction between himself and others and in the opening of the scene, the body language of Cole s mother and Dr Crowe is used to suggest this. In medium shot, (often used to provide a ?blank sheet? for emotions), we see the two characters in profile. While Dr Crowe is calm and smiling slightly, Cole s mother holds her body angled away from him and has a tight, cold expression, giving a definite impression of tension. From this it appears that a conversation and more probably a disagreement has taken place between them, as a ghost he would be unable to do this, the audience would have no reason to suspect him at this point. The tension also allows us to presume that she looks away from him in order to avoid his gaze, rather than as a result of his invisibility. The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. The weather was humid and hot throughout the year, with frequent rainfall. The French and Germans were the first Europeans to settle on the island (Weiner, 1988). • 42. Comparing Aristotle And John Stuart Mill Chelsea Kearney PHIL 231: Ethics 28 April 2015 Essay 2 Comparisons on Pleasure in Morality The role of pleasure in morality has been examined thoroughly throughout the beginning of philosophy and continues to be a questionable issue. With these in depth examinations, some similar outlooks as well as differing views have been recorded. Many philosophers have dissected this important topic, however I intend to concentrate of the famous works of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, and John Stuart Mill. After meticulously analyzing each of the above philosophers texts, I personally prefer the position of utilitarian and Benthamite, John Stuart Mill. After comparing and contrasting the positions and reasonings of these philosophers, I will demonstrate my own reasons why I have chosen John Stuart Mill as the most established in his theory of the role of pleasure in morality. Aristotle was a particularly influential Grecian philosopher and student of Plato who lived from 384BC 322BC (ADD CITATION). Within Nicomachean Ethics , Aristotle outlines the thoughts of the general population along with his regards and rationales in explaining many philosophical premises. But to concentrate on how Aristotle feels about the role of pleasure in morality, Aristotle introduces the idea that most people think happiness involves pleasure. He goes on to interpret the roles of different pleasures and their virtues and vices, giving examples such as as bodily pleasures and soul pleasures. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Pros And Cons Of The Swedish Healthcare System There are a few positive externalizes from the Swedish healthcare system. First, there are set limits on how much an individual will spend before the government will pay for all the fees (David Hogberg). This helps people when they have lots of medical expenses. For example 200 kronas, about $24, is the most patients will pay annually for prescription drugs (David Hogberg). The system is set up so that the central government controls the laws and regulation which makes the distribution of heath care fair. In addition private practice is heavily regulated (Swedish Institute). The regulation helps to ensure that the care for citizens who get private or public care receive similar care. Currently there is a 6 x 6 soft launch that serves as an access point to the water. It is very unstable and remains submerged during high tide. In the 1990 s, one of the worlds most abundant cod populations was quickly destroyed. The Newfoundland cod fishery had been one of the most productive cod fisheries in the world. Fishing for cod in Newfoundland had dated back to the 16th century, when the amount of fish seemed endless. The Canadians had traditionally fished sustainably for cod using small boats and traditional methods such as jigging or small inshore gill nets, but in the 1950 s and 1960 s other countries began to join in on the fishing, using larger boats and nets. England, U.S., The Soviet Union, Spain, Portugal and Germany all joined in on the action, increasing the annual catch from 250,000 tons to over 800,000 tons in 1968. From then on, the population slowly began to decline. With so many being caught each year, the fish were no longer able to reproduce as efficiently and renew their numbers to keep up with the demand. In addition to an increase in the commercial fishing fleets, new fishing technologies were created to help catch as many fish as possible. Larger nets that dragged along the bottom were created to catch every possible fish.
