6. Lack of proper qualification created an issue.
Only knowledge was in the field of cooking.
Dream of becoming independent always motivated her
So, she borrowed some 100 rupees from her mom.
Started making pickles, squashes, and jams.
Her mother took them to her office and everything
that was carried used to be sold in a day.
She used to invest almost all the earnings into making
more squashes, jams, and pickles.

7. In 1974 she stalled her mobile cart at Anna Square on
the Marina Beach.
Many carts like these sold only tea and cigarettes, But
Patricia was different.
She provided the customers with fresh juice, coffee, tea,
cutlets. Bhaji, cutlets, and samosa.
Sold only one cup of coffee on Day 1 and earned only
50 paisa.
Within some days she started earning INR./day 600-
700 from her delicacies.

8. Patricia continued this cart business from 1982 to
2003.
Struggled every day from 3 P.M. to 11 P.M. and
sometimes from 5 A.M. to 9 A.M. also.
Business proposal for starting a canteen from slum
clearance board.
Offer for operating canteen at different locations.
Partnership with a leading hotel chain in Chennai
itself and got the post of director.

9. Tragedy in personal life
Completely shook by death of daughter and son-in -
law in an accident.
Break from work but joined again soon and started
free ambulance services in memory of daughter.
Setting up her own restaurant chain in the name of
her deceased daughter, sandheepa.
Now there was no looking back in her life.
Won the FICCI Women Entrepreneur of the Year
2010.
