We will write, draw, color, read, research and play on the computers, in the lab. Most of you have computers at home that you can use and some of the things we learn can be done at home too! M onitor The monitor is part of the computer that displays the  information. It contains the screen, which is the part that you look at. Monitors come in all shapes and sizes. Click here to go back

P rinter A printer is a device that prints text or graphics on paper. There are many different types of printers. We use network laser printers in our classrooms, and in the lab. You can watch a Brainpop movie on printers. Click here to go back

CPU C entral  P rocessing  U nit The CPU is the brain of the computer.  You turn on the Computer by pushing on the power button located on the front of the CPU. The CPU is the most important part of the computer. The monitor also has a power button that turns the screen on or off. CPU’s come in all shapes and sizes. F loppy  D isk Floppy disks are small removable diskettes, that you can save information on, and take it with you to another computer. You insert disks into a device called a disk drive, which is located in the CPU. You can watch a Brainpop movie on disks. Click here to go back

CD C ompact  D isk A CD is another type of disk, which can hold large  amounts of data, music or a mixture of both. A CD can be used by inserting it into the CD-ROM player, which is located in the CPU. A DVD can also sometimes be viewed on a computer Click here to go back

D igital  C amera This is a small portable digital camera that takes photos and often records short movies onto a memory card. People can take this with them when traveling or working and “download” the photos into a computer to edit or print.
