Editor's Notes

  1. Don’t underestimate stress of traffic, parking, finding the classroom, finding the bathroom, food needs, etc
  2. If you can’t keep them on topic, what if you had students create question lists and interview them instead of having them prepare a presentation. Give them an outline if needed.
  3. Tell story of Dozier Libbey Medical High School’s “classroom ambassador” program – kid greets strangers when they enter the room, welcome them, introduce themselves, explain context of class, lesson, etc.
  4. Additional ideas: Feedback loops – give partners feedback, get feedback from partners on their experience, and get feedback from students Document all partner engagements with video, photos, news articles, etc.
