Parts of speech are the building blocks of
language that help us understand how words
function in sentences.
Importance: Understanding parts of speech
enhances communication, grammar proficiency,
and writing skills.
 Noun
 Definition: A word that represents a person, place, thing,
or idea.
 Examples: dog, city, love
 Pronoun
 Definition: A word used in place of a noun to avoid
repetition.
 Examples: he, she, they
 Verb
 Definition: A word that describes an action, occurrence,
or state of being.
 Examples: run, sing, is
 Adjective
 Definition: A word that modifies a noun or
pronoun, providing more information.
 Examples: red, beautiful, tall
 Adverb
 Definition: A word that modifies a verb, adjective,
or adverb, indicating how, when, where, or to
what extent.
 Examples: quickly, very, here
 Preposition
 Definition: A word that shows the relationship between a
noun/pronoun and other words in a sentence.
 Examples: in, on, under
 Conjunction
 Definition: A word that connects words, phrases, or
clauses.

 Definition: A word or phrase that expresses strong
