PARIS
PARIS
Paris is the capital and most populous city of
France. It is situated on the River Seine, in the
north of the country, at the heart of the Île-deFrance region. Within its administrative limits
(the 20 arrondissements), the city had
2,300,000 inhabitants in 2009 while its
metropolitan area is one of the largest
population centres in Europe with more than 12
million inhabitants.
Centuries of cultural and political development
have brought Paris a variety of museums,
theatres, monuments and architectural styles.
EFFEIL TOWER

The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on
the Champ de Mars in Paris. It was named after
the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company
designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889 as
the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it
has become both a global cultural icon of
France. The tower is the most-visited paid
monument in the world; 7.1 million people
ascended it in 2011. The tower received its 250
millionth visitor in 2010.The tower stands 324
metres.

LA DEFENSE
La Défense is Europe's largest purpose-built
business district with its 5 million square metres
area. 180,000 daily workers, La Défense
contains many of the Paris urban area's tallest
high-rises, and 1,500 corporate head offices,
including those of 15 of the top 50 companies in
the world.

LA BASTILLE
The Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris, where
the Bastille prison stood until the 'Storming of the
Bastille' and its subsequent physical destruction
between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the
French Revolution; no vestige of it remains.

The Louvre Museum is one of the world's largest
museums and a historic monument. It is located
on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st
arrondissement (district). Nearly 35,000 objects
from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited
over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300
square feet). With more than 8 million visitors
each year, the Louvre is the world's most visited
museum.

Notre-Dame Cathedral, is an historic Catholic cathedral on the eastern
half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France.The
cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French
Gothic architecture and among the largest and most well-known church
buildings in the world. The naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass
are in contrast
ARC DE TRIOMPHE
It stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end of the
Champs-Élysées. The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France
in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French
victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.
CHAMPS ELYSEES
The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a street in Paris, France. With its cinemas, cafés,
luxury specialty shops and clipped horse-chestnut trees, the Champs-Élysées is
arguably one of the world's most famous streets, and is one of the most expensive
strips of real estate in the world. Several French monuments are also on the street,
including the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde. The name is French for
Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed dead in Greek mythology. According to a much
used description, the Champs-Élysées is the most beautiful avenue in the world").
DISNEYLAND
Disneyland Paris, originally is an entertainment resort in Marne-laVallée,in the east of the center of Paris and is the most visited
attraction in all of France and Europe.It is owned and operated
by Euro Disney.The Disneyland Park is the original theme park
of the complex, opening with the resort on April 12, 1992. A
second theme park, Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002.
MOULIN ROUGE
The house was co-founded in 1889 by Charles Zidler and Joseph Oller, who
also owned the Paris Olympia. Close to Montmartre in the Paris district of
Pigalle on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement, it is marked by the
red windmill on its roof.
MUSEE D'ORSAY

The Orsay is a museum in Paris, France, on the left bank of the Seine. It
is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station
built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art
dating from 1848 to 1915, including paintings, sculptures, furniture,
and photography. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and
post-impressionist masterpieces in the world, by painters including
Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin and
Van Gogh.
PLACE LA CONCORDE

The Place was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel
in 1755 as a moat-skirted octagon between the
Champs-Élysées to the west and the Tuileries
Garden to the east. Decorated with statues and
fountains, the area was named Place Louis XV
to honor the king at that time. The square
showcased an equestrian statue of the king,
which had been commissioned in 1748 by the
city of Paris.

SACRE COEUR
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as SacréCœur Basilica and often simply Sacré-Cœur, is a Roman Catholic
church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in
Paris, France.The basilica is located at the summit of the butte
Montmartre, the highest point in the city. Sacré-Cœur is a double
monument, political and cultural.

  • 17. PLACE LA CONCORDE . The Place was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel in 1755 as a moat-skirted octagon between the Champs-Élysées to the west and the Tuileries Garden to the east. Decorated with statues and fountains, the area was named Place Louis XV to honor the king at that time. The square showcased an equestrian statue of the king, which had been commissioned in 1748 by the city of Paris.
