To address this, the NC Cooperative Extension Program partnered with four local organizations to implement a nutrition and cooking program for children ages 5-15. Over the course of a week at each site, lessons were taught on topics like kitchen safety, MyPlate, and healthy snacks. Pre- and post-tests showed that the children gained knowledge about nutrition and being active. The program exposed children to new foods and recipes to try at home. It also increased the children's daily physical activity through lessons and snacks.

For this reason, preparing food is popular with this age group. Childcare programs can provide opportunities for learning to make breakfast or snack ,the children may be proud to do so at home. School -age children who learn to prepare simple but notorious snacks or meals may continue these life skills.

- 7. 1.Instructions Spread Wow butter on one side of a tortilla. Add a thin line of Nutella. Peel banana and straighten it a bit (it’s okay if it cracks a little). Place on top of Nutella. Roll tortilla up around the banana, trying to make it as tight as possible. Slice your “sushi” roll into 1/2-1-inch rounds and serve.
