This document provides resources for parents on nutrition for school-aged children. It recommends that childcare programs provide opportunities for children to help prepare simple but nutritious snacks and meals to help them develop important life skills. Programs should add more fruits and vegetables to their menus and involve children in the cooking process. Nutrition education should be developmentally and culturally appropriate and maintain confidentiality. A recipe is included for banana sushi, a fun and healthy snack made from a tortilla, banana, peanut or other nut butter, and optional chocolate spread.
