Reflective Essay On Racism
I work for the day that there will no longer be a mandatory minimum for melanin and hate speech
is no longer freer than my and every person of color s body. Every day, we seem to get closer and
further from this day. Clocks no longer reliable to count the passing of time, but in divisive times,
the signs are mixed up, and my math cannot seem to count up the holes left by deportations or
people who did everything right, but it s on the ground, then in the ground they are left. I came to
Cornell identifying as a son, a brother, a student, a music player and a runner. However, something
about a predominantly white institution, or maybe just college generally, made me recognize who
I was, or rather what identities people perceive when they see me. Consequently, I am a Black, first
generation, low socioeconomic status, cis heterosexual, Christian, documented son of refugees
from Eritrea attending an Ivy League institution on stolen land. Coming to the realization of all
these intersections of the identities that bring privileges or discrimination, I sought whatever
avenues I could find to ameliorate difficulties faced based on identity. But, another thing I realized
early on here is that I really ain t know anything. Consequently, I took classes in the Sociology and
FGSS departments and threw myself in the Black community hoping people would catch me. I

‘for Me, the Story Is Less a Horror…Than a Larger
Than...
For me, the story is less a horror...than a larger than life gothic fairytale (Kenneth Brannagh) How
far and in what ways do you agree with this description of the text?
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a novel which forces the reader to question whether it is a simple
horror story or whether it is a gothic fairytale of many depths. Frankenstein is considered by many
critics as the first modern horror story ever written, and it opened a whole new world of ideas
for novels and has inspired many similar works since its publication in 1818. As we see by the
prelude, Shelley s first ambition is to horrify the reader as she describes wanting to awaken
thrilling horror one to make the reader dread to look around, to curdle the blood and ... Show more

For many readers, Frankenstein is much more than a simple horror story, it is a story about
family, abandonment, the consequences of the quest for knowledge, and many other themes
which influence the path of the story. One of the most notable themes within the novel is the
idea of good versus evil. This theme adds extreme depth to the text, as the reader is left to decide
which character is good and which is evil. Shelley s use of intertextuality in the novel emphasises
her point, especially with the inclusion of the strong influence that Milton s Paradise Lost has on
the monster. I am thy creature: I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel, whom
thou drivest from joy for no misdeed. From the moment he is created, we, like the monster
question whether he is Adam, or the fallen angel, and therefore wonder whether it is he or Victor
which is the creature of evil. The tale of Frankenstein leads the reader into the logic of creation and
of the mind, and through her thoughts on good versus evil; Shelley also forces the reader to look
even further beyond the horror of the novel to the idea of the doppelganger effect. In the National
Theatre s production of the novel, the two main characters switched the roles of Victor and the
monster, emphasizing the point that both characters could be in fact

Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars
That s the thing about pain. It demands to be felt. In Indianapolis, poor Hazel Grace Lancaster
has to go through that every day. Hazel has Thyroid cancer and it affects her everyday life.
However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the
author of The Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for
someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book, Hazel and Gus show that
sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no
words needing to be said. For example, Gus and Hazel s conversationon the phone after their first
date. In the text it states Okay, he said. I gotta go to sleep. It s almost one. Okay, I said. Okay, he
said. I giggled and said, Okay. And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was
there in my room with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not
in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third space that could only be
visited on the phone. Okay, he said after forever. Maybe okay will be our always. Okay, I said.
(Green 72 73) As mentioned previously, you don t have to have conversations to be there for
someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when there are no words needing
to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are
sincere and ready to talk to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had
died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is what happened... As I
knelt, I realized they d closed his eyes of course they had and that I would never again see his blue
eyes. I love you present tense, I whispered and then put my hand in the middle of his chest and
said, It s okay, Gus.It s okay. It is. It s okay, you hear me? I had and have absolutely no confidence
that he could hear me. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. Okay, I said. Okay. (Green 270)
This piece of text shows that even when Gus was lifeless, she was still there for him by saying
Okay .Although she was in great distress, she stood with courage. By saying Okay. she, in a

Veterans Of The United States
Veterans are heroes in the eyes of many citizens of the United States. There are over 20 million
veterans who have risked their lives at young ages to help give this nation a fear free life. They
serve and protect the land for their children, spouses, parents, family, and neighbors. Yet they are
not treated with the love and respect they truly deserve. Those who have served took a
devastating loss when the, House Appropriations Subcommittee marked up the 2016 Veterans
Affairs funding bill, and slashed more than $1.4 billion from the president s requested budget for
America s Veterans ( ask mrs. Pyle 8). Today, the nation s hero are treated worse than prisoners
who have committed murder or rape. While these criminals have a safe and warm place to stay,
there are many homeless veterans who are starving and out in the cold. There are veterancenters
around the United States, but they are over capacity, and some do not give the care the veterans
desperately need. The men and woman are only allowed to see the doctors who work for the V.A.,
or the appointment and the treatment will not be accepted by the insurance. Instead of spending
money on new faculties, the government feels that when another country is in trouble, they deserve
the money more than their own people. Veterans of the United States are being put on the back
burner while the government gives more attention to the murderers and child molesters in prison,
other countries that have people in need just like the

Compare and Contrast Ottoman and Mughal Empires Essay
The Ottoman and Mughal empires were two of the greatest and most successful empires to ever
form in history. However, they both had some similarities as well as differences. Both empires went
through tough periods of time, but at some point they also went through times of growth and
prosperity. Although the Ottoman and Mughal Empireboth did not force conversions into Islam, the
Ottoman s development relied on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal
Empire was caused by Aurangzeb s policy of religious persecution and high taxes. Because of the
Ottoman and Mughal Empire being tolerant of other beliefs, people of all religions living in the
empire lived in peace. The Ottomans granted freedom of worship to... Show more content on

Babur expanded his kingdom by attacking Afghanistan and conquering Kabul after 21 years of
being in power. From that point, he crossed over the mountains into Hindustan and attacked the
Dehli Sultanate, again defeating them and gaining their land. When he died in 1530 he had
conquered all of Hindustan and controlled an empire that stretched out from the Deccan to
Turkestan. These different strategies of conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia
and, in the Ottoman s case, some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires
had two different reasons for decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at the
time. Even though Suleyman, the ruler of the Ottomans, accomplished social and cultural
achievements, the empire was losing ground. Suleyman made a mistake by killing two of his sons.
His third son, the incompetent Selim II, inherited the throne. Suleyman set the pattern for the future
sultans to gain and hold power. It became customary for each new sultan to kill his brother. This
practice produced a long line of weak sultans who eventually brought ruin on the empire. Since
India was mainly a land of the Hindus, The stability of the Emperor, in this case Aurangzeb,
depended on the support of the people. Without their loyalty and cooperation, stability was
impossible. When Aurangzeb came into power, he departed from the tradition of religious tolerance

Stress Research Papers
Stress
Stress is something that makes you feel bad and can bring you down everyday. Some stress leads
to depression or mental illness. School, work, sports, and friendships are some the things that keep
me stressed out. After many years of have stress hanging over me, I have finally learned how to
handle it through prayer, and quality time with friends and family.
After I took the Major Life Events Stress assessment, my score came out to be 135. Personally, I
feel like this score is fairly low compared to what it could have been. My score could have easily
been 300. In the assessment, it said if your score was 300, then you were at risk of illness. 38 of
my points came from a change in my financial state. The reason I feel like I have had a change in
my financial state is because in the summer and when I am not in school, I can work full time
and make a decent paycheck. Most of the time I either work on our family farm or mow grass.
While i am in school I don t really have a lot of money because I never have time to work. This is
very stressful because I am not the type of person to ask my parents for money, I like to be
independent because it makes me feel better about myself. School usually keeps me stressed out

Charter Schools Vs. Public Schools
At the foundation of the American public school system is the belief that every child deserves a
quality education. To this end, the public school system in America has undergone many reforms.
One of which has been charter schools. Charter schools are independent public schools of choice
working under the auspices of a charter and not governed by the board of education. The charter can
be written by parents, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, educational businesses,
etc. It determines the school s guiding principles, management and accountability systems. The
state approves the charter and provides funding for the school. Families choose these schools for
their children. ( Resistance Hinders Success, 2004) Charter schools differ from traditional public
schools on three basic principles: accountability, choice and autonomy. Charter schools are held
accountable for their ability to educate students, management of finances and handle operations. If
they do not meet the guidelines established by the charter they are closed. They give families a
choice as to what school their children will attend. Finally, charter schools have more autonomy
than traditional public schools. They are able to make their own decisions regarding curriculum
and school governance and can focus on academic achievement instead of bureaucracy. (
Resistance Hinders Success, 2004) Ray Budde first introduced the idea of charter schools in the
United States in 1974.

Nonmoral Nature Stephen Jay Gould Summary
Stephan Jay Gould was a professor of zoology, as well as geology. Stephan Jay Gould is notable
for his essays on science. Gould wrote complex concepts, and explained these concepts very well
to a general audience. Gould wrote an essay called Nonmoral Nature which talked about natural
events, and compared these natural events to a biblical sense. So, the big question is, what do you
think nonmoral nature is? Also, what do you think is revealed about the nature of insect life? Do
you think what insects do is nonmoral? Or do you think insects don t have the brain capacity to feel
remorse for nonmoral things they do. Gould went over issues with different insects, one of the
insects that he talked a great deal about is the ichneumon wasp. In the introduction... Show more

nineteenth and twentieth century literature on ichenumons, nothing amused me more than the
tension between an intellectual knowledge that wasps should not be described in human terms and a
literary or emotion inability to avoid the familiar categories of epic and narrative, pain and
destruction, victim and vanquisher. (pp. 640) Moreover, he then goes on to describe the fact that

Public Participation At San Diego Unified District School...
Public participation is an important aspect of any community and benefits realized from inculcating
it in the system of any public setup treats any possible problem. Some of the core merits any public
institution produces is enabling the community to participate in decision making and planning. For
this reason, they are more likely to interact with established mechanisms. Moreover, apart from
helping bring about a sense of community, public participation enables institutions to set goals and
objectives that suit that long term service delivery. San Diego Unified district school is among the
many educational centers in the United States that have embraced this useful method to warrant
continuous progress. Therefore, they recently organized a school board meetingon 27th September
2016 to provide an update on what was going on in the institution as well give the public an
opportunity to discuss their concerns and contributions. This paper analyzes the nature and role of
public participation in uniting the community and institutions that serve its members. Evidently,
although the meeting had some hitches in terms of short notices and low ethnic representation, it
was successful because the community and the institution discussed agendaand non agenda matters

Explain What Is Meant By St. Augustine Of Hippo
Questions about sin have been the focus of much theological conversation and discussion for the
reason that how one answers them strongly influences the rest of Christian doctrine. Augustine of
Hippo is regarded as one of the most important and well known theologians and philosophers in the
history of the Christian religion. His writings influenced the development of Western Christianity
and Western philosophy. Augustine s faith development recorded in treatises, sermons, and letters
highlights the theological landscape of the time and one man s journey to Christianity. Augustine
developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, accommodating a variety of methods and
perspectives through traditions and history. St. Augustine of Hippo... Show more content on

Both Pegasus and Augustine based their teachings off the writings of Paul, to the point that
Augustine discovered what he saw as the essence of Christian faith by reading Romans. The basis
of Augustine s Doctrine of Original Sin stemmed from the thought that original sin was transmitted
from generation to generation through sexual intercourse. The theology of original sin that
Augustine articulated in 397 is reflected clearly and repeatedly in Augustine s most famous writing,
his Confessions, which he began to write at the same time, shortly after he became bishop of Hippo.
Augustine understood original sin in that:
. . . all men, born according to nature, are born with sin, that is, without the fear of God, without
confidence towards God and with concupiscence, and that this original disease or flaw is truly a
sin, bringing condemnation and also eternal death to those who are not reborn through baptism and

Next, I will explore the relationship between language and emotion. An example that I have noticed
of language controlling emotion is while learning Spanish. I have just begun to learn Spanish about
five months ago. One of the first things I learned in Spanish was that there are two different
pronouns for the word you. Firstly, there is the casual you, tГє and the respectful you, usted . This
is quite interesting because it may be possible that using these two words when speaking with two
different people might affect our emotions toward them. For example, if I am speaking to someone
on the football pitch and refer to him or her as tГє, I would feel more relaxed and even lack respect
to him or her. On the other hand, if I was speaking to my Spanish teacher I would refer to him as
usted, and I would feel more respectful toward him.
Another example of this that I being a speaker of both English and Hindi, have noticed is the word
sukhi , for which the closest English translation is peaceful . However, the most appropriate word
for peaceful in Hindi is shanti . Sukhi is being peaceful, but on a much larger scale something that
cannot be expressed accurately in English. Perhaps I am only hypothesizing, this is due to the fact
that Indian culture is generally more spiritual, and therefore they have a word for being completely
at peace with everything.

The Eureka Stockade
The eureka stockade... It is defined by many as the beginning of Australia. This historical event has
influenced every person, in that it changed our country s legal system for the better, into the
democracy we know today. For this reason, a documentary needs to be made about the struggles
and journey that these noble diggers went through, to improve the lives of everyone.
The Gold rush that took place in Ballarat, Victoria brought with it much conflict. The Eureka
stockade was a battle between the government and the troops that took place in 1854. Although
the battle took place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The
outrage first started when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks
and increased the price of licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the
colony. Over months the licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in
order to collect owed fees. On October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his
suspected murderer James Bentley was acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. This made
the miners angrier, and on 17th October 10,000 diggers got together and burnt down the Eureka
hotel in protest. With no action from government authorities being taken to improve the conditions,
the miners formed the Ballarat Reform league at Bakery Hill. It was here on November 11th that
the miners first developed the rights and demands that they would fight for. On

Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain were two great explorers. Both were born around 1570
and were sons of sea captains . However, even though they both have similarities from how they
were brought up, their voyages were very different from one another. Even the types of explorers
they were are different from each other. Not a lot is known about Henry Hudsons personal life.
What we do know is that he was married to a woman named Katherine and they had three sons
together. Also, it is said the Hudson was most likely to have come from a wealthy family and
apparently his grandfather discovered a trading company named the Muscovy Company . Henry

Henry Hudson wanted to do the job that he was hired to do and make sure that he found what he
was supposed to be looking for. Although Hudson was not capable of making his dreams a
reality, without him, New York City may not have been founded for who knows how much
longer. Also, due to his discovery of the Hudson Bay, Hudson is considered to be someone
crucial to the founding of Canada. Actually, when Hudson discovered the Hudson Bay he
believed it to be a passage into the Pacific. This is because the Hudson is large enough to create
tidal waves. Even though some people think that Hudson is a failure, because he never found a
faster water route to Asia, he was seen as a very respectable and smart navigator. His ships
always made it back safe to the people that invested in his voyages and now there are more bodies
of water named after him than any other person to have ever lived . Samuel de Champlain was born
in 1570 and was a French explorer. One way in which Champlain differs from Henry Hudson is
that Hudson was born in England and Champlain was born in France. Champlain is believed to
have been born a protestant but when he got older he converted to Catholicism. Similar to
Hudson, not much is known about his earliest years. Champlain used to travel with his Uncle to
places such as Spain and the West Indies; these were some of the first voyages that he ever made.

Collective Remembrance Essay
The relatively new historical branch of collective remembrance, when applied to the collective
memories of Britain and the Soviet Union, reveals much more disparity than resemblance in the
way these two nations remembered, and still remember, the Second World War. The collective
remembrance of Britain is different from that of Russiabecause while the Soviet Unionutilized
similar styles of ceremony and commemoration as Britain did to promote a continued remembrance
of the war, the Soviet Union was unique in the silence of the unspoken grief of millions that lay in
more than the war itself, but in a history of repression and abuse at the hands of the state. Britain,
on the other hand, dealt with the memory of the war by making it front and center in a new

nothing of large scale suffering at first hand, but whose lives were marked by the silences and

patriotic ceremonial commemorations of WWII. While these did present a more edited version of
reality, it is not necessarily to say that they were inherently false. Britain, on the other hand, got
caught in its own enthusiasm to present the war s history, and in doing so created a different
history that changed Britain from the elitist imperial power to the egalitarian nation who defeated
the Nazis. While historians continue to work diligently to reveal an accurate picture of Britain

of the product whereas a part of the printed or written note that is put on the package is considered
as the label.
Colourful paper labels, the first form of commercial art was first brought forward by a European
artist. It is both used as a product identifier and an eye catcher for the consumers since 1880.This
art, which later became a profession of lithography, was used on packaging cases of fruits, boxes
of cigars and on cans of vegetables. The world s first self adhesive labels was established by an
entrepreneur, R.Stanton Avery and it turned to a very profitable business.
In the recent days, all sorts of companies takes huge interest in packaging and labelling their
products, keeping their targeted customers on mind and these have now become a very successful
business entity. Nevertheless, these have to be continuously innovated and recreated to keep the
mass consumers attracted towards the product. Packaging and labelling help marketing the product
in a numerous ways and thus through these the companies can reach the targeted consumers,
ultimately making a strong place in the retail market. Still, the Australian market of packaging and
labelling is comparatively minor in terms of international standards.

I May Be Wrong But I Doubt It Analysis
I May Be Wrong But I Doubt It By Charles Barkley The former NBA phenom, Charles Barkley,
takes readers on an in depth tour of his career and the difficulties he faced in his memoir, I May
Be Wrong But I Doubt It. From growing up in a poor African American family living in Alabama
to being named the NBA s most valuable player in 1992, Barkley discovered that working hard
would allow him to accomplish anything he ever desired. Barkley s raw tone depicts no regret
as he discusses more than just his childhood and career. He explains why his dedication and
respect for the game is so important and how it led him into another career after he retired. As
his body began to break down and become too fragile for the game, Barkley planned to ...find the
best way to make an impact and improve people s lives (Barkley 133). Within his desire to make
the world a better place, Barkley got involved with politics, fighting the inevitable fight against
discrimination, and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The memoir was most indefinitely not perfect, in fact, I would exclude the chapter in which he
so called brags about being wealthy. I think that his tone ensures that he cares about the people
of different natures, but the fact that he knows he bugs people with his raw comments is
immature. I personally connected to his feelings about the world because his perspective on let
me say what I want to say is similar to mine. I would recommend this work to any NBA fans in
middle school or high school because it was an enjoyable and down to earth type of read. I
would not recommend this work to anyone in elementary school or below because of the mild
explicit language and the references to real life problems such as discriminaiton. After reading this
work I feel like I have learned a lot about life and what to

Harvey s Dream And A Sorrowful Woman
Stephan King is a compelling writer who has a numerous books and short stories that interests
readers in the most stimulating way. He is most known for interesting his audience through the use
of mystery, death, and horror. His unique method seems to ignite a flame through the readers that
make them come back for more. Michael Meyer too uses the mystery technique by making the
story s audience review the clues given in the story to come to their own conclusions as to what
happened in the end. Harvey s Dream and A Sorrowful Woman are similar in the sense that they are
about a married couple that may not be having the finest relationship they could be. They also relate
to one another by the examples of stereotyping used throughout both of the stories.... Show more

King explains the character of Harvey as someone whom the wife despises. For example, ...
slumped at the shoulder and blank in the eye, a white scruff growing on his cheeks, man tits
sagging out the front of his T, hair standing up in the back like Alfalfa of the Little Rascals grown
old and stupid (1, King). This is a great example of how the wife describes the character of Harvey
during the short story. She no longer has to sleep with him and fight for her share of the covers in
the middle of the night; no longer has to listen to the occasional muffled fart as Harvey soldiers
ever deeper into sleep (2, King). King uses these quotes to show his readers the stereotype of
marriage; he is implying that after a few decades of being married couples slowly grow apart and
start to criticize one another more

4.0 Ratios Analysis
4.1 Earning per Share Ratio
A graph below represents Earning per Share ratio. EPS ratio is used when the company wants to
know how are they doing in their businesses from year to year. EPS is shown in pence. (Dyson,
2010) A year 2009 was not so profitable for company as EPS was 2,79p. This means that business
was making little money, which was not good for shareholders. However, in 2010 the EPS was
quite high, 14,76p, what means the company is making profit and shareholders want to invest in
business.
4.2 Quick Ratio
The Quick Ratio also known as Acid Ratio is used by firms to determine liquidity position. It
explains if the firm is able to pay all of their current debt liabilities. (Dyson, 2010) The graph
above illustrates that over the period from 2007 to 2011 quick ratio was not more that 1, which
means that their debts might not be covered all. The graph also indicates that a peak was in 2011.

Rick Jones Case
Michigan state Senator Rick Jones, a republican from Grand ledge, the sponsor of 943 bills, and
a former employee of law enforcement is reaching to accommodate Michigan s speed limit. That
could mean a 75 80 mph speed limit on certain parts of the freeway, or even the adjustment of 55
mph on curves, and crowded areas with constrained visibility. His reasoning behind this proposal
is his belief that some communities are setting low speed limits on roads to increase ticket
dividend. His plan for this action is to leave the calculations for a better flowing freewaysystem to
the Michigan State Police. Their method would include using trafficdata to find the speed that 85
percent of michigan s drivers already use. Examples of the expanse that these changes could be

Discrimination Against African American Population
In our society, today there are various privileges given to everyone but one I chose to talk about
was one dealing with a person s name. Names are the beginning of discrimination against the
African American population because of the stereotypical so called black names . This is a
problem in today s society because businesses that are hiring applicants can look at a name and
automatically make the decision on if they want to give this person chance at an interview or not.
For example, there are two applicants one with the name of Bethany and the Shaniqwa, they both
have all the same credentials and the same abilities to be able to get the job done thoroughly, but
the person hiring will hire Bethany based on her name. That is what it is like African Americans in
the workforce, whether people want to believe it or not. Discriminationcan happen in many forms,
and because corporations rather not be blatant with discrimination, they find other ways like this to
discriminate. What do we go through to try and avoid discrimination? What can be done to stop
the discrimination? These are some of the questions I hope to find answers to as I begin my
research on the systemic privilege.
IN the 1980s, the Supreme Court substantially narrowed the reach and remedies of civil rights laws
addressing employment discrimination. In 1989 the Court issued a series of decisions that
constituted a body blow to the effort to secure equal employment opportunity. These decisions

Television is the Downfall of our Society
Can you imagine the actual number of people who watch T.V.? People spend more time before
the television, than any other thing. Nowadays, even children, to be more specific, toddlers spend
most of their time watching T.V. Shouldn?t they be playing with their toys inside or outside,
playing in the yard, going to the park for a walk or to play on the swings and slides? Don?t you
remember when you were young when your parents took you to the park? All kids went to the park,
but nowadays, the park has been substituted with the television and video games (for youth).

Sisters, which deals with everyday occurrences that relate to them. These twins fall into this age
group and the show talks of things that happen to them during and outside of school. For instance,
the show talks about their first date, first dance, first kiss, first boyfriend, Etc. For teenagers, shows
such as The Fresh Prince, Boy Meets World, Hang Time, Sister Sister, Family Matters, and Change
of Heart are being shown on T.V. These shows usually are shown after 3:00 p.m. or during the
weekend the time when teenagers are out of school. Teenagers watch these shows because they can
relate to the characters. These characters go through the same things that teenagers go through.
Sometimes, they wish that they could go through those awesome things that happen to those
fictional characters. However, shows like the Jerry Springer Show, aren?t or shouldn?t be watched
by teenagers, because it forces a way of being and thinking into their minds. If you have ever

Graphic serve as a universal language said by Brucker (2002). There are many advantages of using
graphic in technical document. Graphic communication represents ideas, relationship or
connections visually with shapes, diagram and line. For example, some of the No Smoking signs
display in public place. (Dwyer, 2003).
In this report, the model of the Pioneer s operation manual was 8850MP model, which is the top
range car stereo head unit of Pioneer. The price in retail store is around AUD 800 and the unit
contains many high technology features, such as ipod compatibility and Bluetooth. Surprisingly,
the operation manual looks like a cheap heater or a fan operation manual. It used black and white
color which shows bad quality pictures, and the pictures are also very small to see. Moreover, it
seem like the writers want to used less pictures as possible to describes the operational function,
which is definitely too little to understand. (See appendix D).
On the other hand, compare with O2 mobile phone operational manual (see appendix E) which
also has high technology features and selling at the same price. It can see much difference between
them. The O2 manual used color pictures, it also have graph and table which make it look

Example Of Symbolic Interaction Theory
You grow up with the feeling that your dad has always had favoritism towards your brother and
that you have never been good enough for him. Every Time your Dad does any kind of activity

process these interactions between you, your brother and your dad? This scenario is a perfect

II. Areas of Consideration
Cherie Cosmetics is a wholly owned subsidiary of the International Cherie Company of New York.
The company is directed by Ralph Nolk and has four distinctive product lines each headed by a

Heather King is making demands to Dennis Green and Sandra Mirano, but she is not their
superior and they are not in the same department. Dennis Green and Sandra Mirano s manager is
Bob Shaw. An employee should only have one manager. Dennis Green s behavior of verbally
attacking Heather King is inappropriate and unprofessional given that Heather King has a higher
rank, but his behavior is understandable. He may have just been acting out of frustration from
having to deal with different managers. As the purchasing manager, he does have a need to feel in
control of his responsibilities. Heather King had reasons to bypass Dennis Green, but by doing so,
she became a threat to his territory. When people feel threatened, they can become hostile and angry.
III. Alternatives and Evaluation of Alternatives
Alternative 1:
Heather King can bring up the issue to Ralph Nolk. As the Managing Director superior to Bob
Shaw, Ralph Nolk has the formal power to influence the operations department to coordinate with
Heather King. Ralph Nolk has the resources that the operations department needs, thus he has
power over their actions.

Veterans Day Research Paper
Whether it is in an office, on a battlefield, or at a switchboard, it takes a hero to be a veteran.
Bravery and patriotism are characteristics of veterans. Veterans Day was created to honor all
people who have served, fought, and died for our country and our freedom. People who served in
the military and gave their services, risked their lives, and lost their lives for us are all veterans:
They deserve our thanks.
When people think of veterans, a word that might come to their mind would be hero. Soldiers leave
their homes, families, and friends to fight for our country and the freedom we believe in so
strongly. If a brother, cousin, uncle, or friend gets killed during a battle, veterans keep going. They
need to wait until a later time to grieve, cry, and mourn their lost companions. Soldiers endure loss,
blistering cold, scorching heat, trench foot, and more. This is what makes up a true hero. ... Show

During an attack or a battle, there may be bombs falling, bullets flying, blood, pain, and the death
of soldiers and civilians. It takes bravery to live through that. Years later, when veterans are safely

complain. When young men and women enlist in the armed forces, they know the dangers they
face. They still enlist and are willing to risk their lives for the freedom of their country because
they believe. They feel proud. Soldiers leave home, go overseas, fight for our country, and either
die bravely or come home proudly. That is

My Timbuktu
It is difficult to overstate the importance of culture. Culture is one of the building blocks of life.
It provides us with vital parts of of everyday life, like clothing and cuisine. It also serves as a
pointer for larger scale items, such as our heritage, customs, and traditions. Unfortunately as time
has passed, certain cultures have faded away. They have been superseded by other cultures, and
while the spreading of cultures can be beneficial, it is important to not neglect one s own culture.
This process has seen an increased frequency in recent years, due in part to the expanding
globalization in our current world. Personally, culture is one of the main cornerstones of my life.
This is partly due to its importance back home. My experiences would be different from the rest
of the class, due to the fact I am in the minority of being a foreigner in the United States. Living in

Analysis Of Bound From Either Side By Rachel Stone
With the patriarchy existing for thousands of years, one can only assume that it has been rocked
more than a few times. But could it be in the ninth century regarding marriage? Rachel Stone argues
in her article that no, it can not be. That even when the patriarchy seemed to be shaken up, the
power still remained with the men.
This paper will provide a brief summarization and a review of the article, Bound from Either Side :
The Limits of Power in Carolingian Marriage Disputes, To 840 870, authored by Rachel Stone.
The paper will show that Stone s thesis of her article proved to be executed well and proved by
gathering four primary accounts from the 9th century.

840 870, written by Rachel Stone, provides readers with an insight on how the majority of
marriages disputes in the 9th century were often won by the man because of the patriarchal basis of
Carolingian society. Even when the men seemed to be in a fragile state, Stone found that even with
a man having a restriction on his power within society and within the marriage, the masculinity of
the men was not questioned and they continued to remain at the top of the gender order.
Stone provides four excellent primary sources that provide back up to the thesis. The sources are of
four accounts of marriage disputes in the ninth century Francia. These accounts are of four
noblemen. All the of the noblemen Stone sources were affected by Carolingian reforming measures
on consanguineous marriage, divorce and raptus (abduction).
Looking at a brief summary of the cases; the first of the four is from Falcric, a vassus of Lothar
I. His wife entered a convent and he then remarried. This breaches the principle of indissoluble
marriage. Hincmar, an Archbishop of Rheims excommunicated him for this. Meaning that Falcric
could not partake in sacraments and services of the Christian Church. Falcric appealed to the
Pope, claiming that he was not actually married to his first wife, but she was just his concubine, a
woman that lives with a man but is of a lower status than his wife. Hincmar was forced by the
pope the accept the marriage and was to release Falcric of his

The Modern Hero Of Beowulf
Aaron Payne
Mr. Walter
English IV
September 28
The Modern Hero
The art of leadership... consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single
adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention (Adolf Hitler). Although Adolf
Hitler may have been one of the worst men in history, he had a similar rise to power as the Geatish
warrior Beowulf did. He gained his leadership by showing up to Germany in their time of need and
telling them that he can fix their economic depression after WWII. Throughout the epic poem,
Beowulf demonstrates a leadership style that is very effective; however, it has failed many leaders
and their cultures in the past, and it is often carried on today. This also ties into Beowulf s hero
model, which shows us how drastically the idea of heros have changed throughout history.
Beowulf s charismatic leadership style is adequate for him to achieve the role he deserves over
the Danes, although it comes along with several drawbacks. Beowulf comes to power by being
a courageous figure that comes to help the Danes in their time of need. He often brags about his
courageous acts to show his greatness, we see this when he is confronted by Unferth, The fact is,
Unferth, if you were truly as keen and courageous as you claim to be Grendel would never have
got away with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, havoc in Heorot and horrors
everywhere (590 594). After defeating Grendel, the Danes look to him as their invincible hero

Analysis Of If By Rudyard Kipling
I chose poetry because it usually carries many rhetorical elements and is open to more
interpretation. Kipling is successful in achieving this through his poetry because of his experiences
and audience. The main audience he is writing to would be his son, but once he circulated his work
physically and then eventually onto the Internet, the poem applied to many different people. I
chose Kipling s piece in particular because of the emotional bond he distinguished with his audience
along with the many interpretations I was able to gain from this piece. Depending on where a
person is at in their life maturity wise, they can get different lessons from this piece and I found
that very unique about his writing and how he was maximizing the use of his literature. In If, a
poem by Rudyard Kipling, he integrates his personal experiences in a parallel structure in order to
form an emotional bond to the audience and leave the ending open with multiple interpretations.
Kipling s person experiences are constructed to leave a message of maturity for both audiences.
Kipling has his poetry set in a parallel structure and left many of the lines open ended for further
interpretation. He guides the reader in the right direction of the mature thing to do, however,
depending on where a person is at, the audience will take their own route with their personal
mindset. Kipling is trying to convey the message that maturity is not age, but rather growing from
situations and how a person handles

Bristol Bay Mine Development Case Study
Two mining companies, Northern Dynasty and Anglo American, have been fighting with the tribes
in Alaska over the Bristol Bay mine. This is because that the Alaskan tribes are worried that the
mining activity of the two mining companies would harm the First Nation land. However, the
mining activity will bring lots of benefits to the USA economy. In my opinion, Bristol Bay mine
development should be continued. First, the Bristol Bay mine would be the biggest mine in North
America. More specifically, the ore body contains 80 billion pounds of copper, 107 million ounces
of gold, and 5.6 billion pounds of molybdenum. This might be the last mining site in the world with
huge deposit. However, the mine development will affect the ecosystem in the

The Main Provisions Of The 1944 Education Act And 1988...
The 20th century saw more changes to education than the thousand years preceding it. This was
largely in response to a recently industrialised country; with newly acquired voting rights, it became
apparent that education should not be only for elites. Education is a crucial element of social
mobility and it is important we fully understand both the positive and negative aspects of previous
legislation to help us plan for the future. The were two major 20th century pieces of legislation:
1944 Education Act and 1988 Education Reform Act. Both brought with them changes that are still
being felt today. This essay will cover those Acts in detail, along with other sizable changes such as
comprehensivisation, marketization and how other external... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ramifications of Butler s failure to separate church and schooling and further pandering by all
subsequent ministers can still be witnessed today. The church s influence on teaching on subjects
evolution has forced the requirement of a law to ban creationism being taught (BHA, 2014). It has
also come to light that many faith schools teach a very narrow worldview pertaining of just their
own beliefs (NSS, 2015).
Furthermore the school age was raised to 15 in 1947, with secondary education beginning at 11.
Though the lack of funding and teaching costs meant this took a long time to fully implement as
the act stated it should be raised to 16 as soon as feasibly possible but this did not happen until 1972.
Other changes included free milk and meals, clothing grants as well as transport to and from
schools. As families would normally expect children to be working by the age of 13 14 these
measures ensured there was not too high a financial burden on parents. Giddard (2011) argues that
although there were many problems with the 1944 Act its redeeming features were forward looking
and progressive.
Few debates in education have been given more time than grammar schools. Though not a part of
the 1944 Act the tripartite system was based on a report by the Norward committee (1943); which
made recommendations based on the pseudoscience notion of there being three types of mind:

Skeptics Can T Cool Blistering Bitcoin Summary
Skeptics can t cool blistering Bitcoin (DATE), written by Nathaniel Popper of the New York Times
develops an article giving many detail on the state of which bitcoin is at and how skeptics can t
burn out the prices bitcoins are reaching. Cryptocurrencies are encrypted currencies that are
universal, meaning that no matter where in the worldyou are, you can use bitcoin if the store allows
it. Cryptocurrencies prices do change depending on which countries you are but not by much.
All Cryptocurrencies also act as a stock where the price of a currency fluctuates. Normally all
currencies start low and raise in price over time. At one point, Bitcoin used to cost $0.08. If you
were to buy $100 worth of bitcoin at this time, you would have made $17,123,687. Everything
does come with its risks though. People that invest in bitcoin now could lose millions of dollars if
it were to crash.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gives statics and also gives examples of when the skeptics were wrong. Nathaniel Popper
states the goods and bads of Cryptocurrency. He explains that they can be used to buy illegal
drugs off of the Black Market which is good in an Ethos standpoint but he quickly brushes over
this statement. There could possibly be more to this than just drugs. He also gives more examples
of why these currencies are good and not bad. In reality, there are much more things about
cryptocurrencies that could be harmful which is bad for an Ethos standpoint. Many hackers use
bitcoin as a ransom for exchange for stoles files from ones computer. Another problem with bitcoin
is the unstable market. If the market where to crash, many people could lose a lot of money and
companies could go bankrupt. This could cause a chain reaction that was similar to the Black
Tuesday event that took place in

How The Current Status And Future Of The Company
Introduction Modern technology has necessitated the use of communicating through the social
networking site on regular time intervals. Social networking sites have brought the world closer and
helped us connect easily. Individuals ensure to commit a minimum of an hour or two over the
internet. Social networking sites have helped employers and educational institutions to assess their
employees and help them in the hiring process. At the same time, students make use of these sites
to stay connected with the university activities. Such dependency is inevitable in the connected
communicating world. With time many networking sites have developed with different features.
Amongst all these sites the most influential and popular site has been Facebook. The site has seen
considerable development and growth over the last decade. The company initiated as a college
directory for Harvard University and then expanded over time to include more universities since its
inception in 2004. Currently, it stands as a public company which is valued at $2 billion. The
paper will critically analyze various aspects of the current status and future of the company. In
addition, the paper will focus on the security and privacy policy, competition in the face of global
usage, investor s interests in the company, growth potential and strategy, ways to thwart
competition from entering the market (Barnett Han, 2011). Facebook The inception of the

Then Krispy Kreme will analyze the external market, identifying threats and opportunities of other
firms in order to manage around that and gain an advantage
Internal Analysis Conducting an internal analysis on Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will identify some
strengths within the firm that can be used for competitive advantage. Krispy Kreme can also grow
and expand on these strengths to keep that advantage in far reach of other firms. Krispy Kreme has
produced a very favorable and high quality doughnut with an excellent visual appeal not found
elsewhere. This is in part from great technology that allows quick finishing of cooking of partially
cooked doughnuts. Doughnuts are prepared in advance and cooked to a certain point (Krispy
Kreme, 2001). They are kept stored properly and are then finished cooking by the technology of the
Hot Doughnuts Now machine. This process helps prepare for large orders and big rushes, while
still giving the customer quality and freshness. One big attraction of Krispy Kreme is there neon
sign displayed at all stores which signals Hot Now when the doughnuts are fresh out the oven.
Customers want freshness, so Krispy Kreme tells them when that is, without customers having to
take chances on whether they will receive fresh, hot products. The innovation of this technology
and idea is a major strength of Krispy Kreme and has been used for great advantage in the doughnut
industry. Along with identifying strengths

  • 2. Reflective Essay On Racism I work for the day that there will no longer be a mandatory minimum for melanin and hate speech is no longer freer than my and every person of color s body. Every day, we seem to get closer and further from this day. Clocks no longer reliable to count the passing of time, but in divisive times, the signs are mixed up, and my math cannot seem to count up the holes left by deportations or people who did everything right, but it s on the ground, then in the ground they are left. I came to Cornell identifying as a son, a brother, a student, a music player and a runner. However, something about a predominantly white institution, or maybe just college generally, made me recognize who I was, or rather what identities people perceive when they see me. Consequently, I am a Black, first generation, low socioeconomic status, cis heterosexual, Christian, documented son of refugees from Eritrea attending an Ivy League institution on stolen land. Coming to the realization of all these intersections of the identities that bring privileges or discrimination, I sought whatever avenues I could find to ameliorate difficulties faced based on identity. But, another thing I realized early on here is that I really ain t know anything. For me, the story is less a horror...than a larger than life gothic fairytale (Kenneth Brannagh) How far and in what ways do you agree with this description of the text? Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a novel which forces the reader to question whether it is a simple horror story or whether it is a gothic fairytale of many depths. Frankenstein is considered by many critics as the first modern horror story ever written, and it opened a whole new world of ideas for novels and has inspired many similar works since its publication in 1818. As we see by the prelude, Shelley s first ambition is to horrify the reader as she describes wanting to awaken thrilling horror one to make the reader dread to look around, to curdle the blood and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For many readers, Frankenstein is much more than a simple horror story, it is a story about family, abandonment, the consequences of the quest for knowledge, and many other themes which influence the path of the story. One of the most notable themes within the novel is the idea of good versus evil. This theme adds extreme depth to the text, as the reader is left to decide which character is good and which is evil. Shelley s use of intertextuality in the novel emphasises her point, especially with the inclusion of the strong influence that Milton s Paradise Lost has on the monster. I am thy creature: I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed. From the moment he is created, we, like the monster question whether he is Adam, or the fallen angel, and therefore wonder whether it is he or Victor which is the creature of evil. The tale of Frankenstein leads the reader into the logic of creation and of the mind, and through her thoughts on good versus evil; Shelley also forces the reader to look even further beyond the horror of the novel to the idea of the doppelganger effect. In the National Theatre s production of the novel, the two main characters switched the roles of Victor and the monster, emphasizing the point that both characters could be in fact ... • 4. Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars That s the thing about pain. It demands to be felt. In Indianapolis, poor Hazel Grace Lancaster has to go through that every day. Hazel has Thyroid cancer and it affects her everyday life. However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the author of The Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book, Hazel and Gus show that sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no words needing to be said. For example, Gus and Hazel s conversationon the phone after their first date. In the text it states Okay, he said. I gotta go to sleep. It s almost one. Okay, I said. Okay, he said. I giggled and said, Okay. And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was there in my room with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third space that could only be visited on the phone. Okay, he said after forever. Maybe okay will be our always. Okay, I said. (Green 72 73) As mentioned previously, you don t have to have conversations to be there for someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when there are no words needing to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are sincere and ready to talk to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is what happened... As I knelt, I realized they d closed his eyes of course they had and that I would never again see his blue eyes. I love you present tense, I whispered and then put my hand in the middle of his chest and said, It s okay, Gus.It s okay. It is. It s okay, you hear me? I had and have absolutely no confidence that he could hear me. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. Okay, I said. Okay. Although the Ottoman and Mughal Empireboth did not force conversions into Islam, the Ottoman s development relied on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal Empire was caused by Aurangzeb s policy of religious persecution and high taxes. From that point, he crossed over the mountains into Hindustan and attacked the Dehli Sultanate, again defeating them and gaining their land. These different strategies of conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia and, in the Ottoman s case, some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires had two different reasons for decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at the time. Even though Suleyman, the ruler of the Ottomans, accomplished social and cultural achievements, the empire was losing ground. Suleyman made a mistake by killing two of his sons. His third son, the incompetent Selim II, inherited the throne. Suleyman set the pattern for the future sultans to gain and hold power. It became customary for each new sultan to kill his brother. This practice produced a long line of weak sultans who eventually brought ruin on the empire. To this end, the public school system in America has undergone many reforms. One of which has been charter schools. Charter schools are independent public schools of choice working under the auspices of a charter and not governed by the board of education. The charter can be written by parents, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, educational businesses, etc. It determines the school s guiding principles, management and accountability systems. The state approves the charter and provides funding for the school. Families choose these schools for their children. ( Resistance Hinders Success, 2004) Charter schools differ from traditional public schools on three basic principles: accountability, choice and autonomy. Charter schools are held accountable for their ability to educate students, management of finances and handle operations. If they do not meet the guidelines established by the charter they are closed. They give families a choice as to what school their children will attend. Finally, charter schools have more autonomy than traditional public schools. They are able to make their own decisions regarding curriculum and school governance and can focus on academic achievement instead of bureaucracy. Also, what do you think is revealed about the nature of insect life? Do you think what insects do is nonmoral? Firstly, there is the casual you, tГє and the respectful you, usted . This is quite interesting because it may be possible that using these two words when speaking with two different people might affect our emotions toward them. For example, if I am speaking to someone on the football pitch and refer to him or her as tГє, I would feel more relaxed and even lack respect to him or her. However, the most appropriate word for peaceful in Hindi is shanti . Sukhi is being peaceful, but on a much larger scale something that cannot be expressed accurately in English. Although the battle took place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The outrage first started when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks and increased the price of licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the colony. Over months the licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in order to collect owed fees. On October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his suspected murderer James Bentley was acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. • 28. Discrimination Against African American Population In our society, today there are various privileges given to everyone but one I chose to talk about was one dealing with a person s name. Names are the beginning of discrimination against the African American population because of the stereotypical so called black names . This is a problem in today s society because businesses that are hiring applicants can look at a name and automatically make the decision on if they want to give this person chance at an interview or not. For example, there are two applicants one with the name of Bethany and the Shaniqwa, they both have all the same credentials and the same abilities to be able to get the job done thoroughly, but the person hiring will hire Bethany based on her name. That is what it is like African Americans in the workforce, whether people want to believe it or not. Discriminationcan happen in many forms, and because corporations rather not be blatant with discrimination, they find other ways like this to discriminate. What do we go through to try and avoid discrimination? What can be done to stop the discrimination? These are some of the questions I hope to find answers to as I begin my research on the systemic privilege. IN the 1980s, the Supreme Court substantially narrowed the reach and remedies of civil rights laws addressing employment discrimination. In 1989 the Court issued a series of decisions that constituted a body blow to the effort to secure equal employment opportunity. These decisions interpreted Title ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately as time has passed, certain cultures have faded away. They have been superseded by other cultures, and while the spreading of cultures can be beneficial, it is important to not neglect one s own culture. This process has seen an increased frequency in recent years, due in part to the expanding globalization in our current world. Personally, culture is one of the main cornerstones of my life. But could it be in the ninth century regarding marriage? Rachel Stone argues in her article that no, it can not be. That even when the patriarchy seemed to be shaken up, the power still remained with the men. This paper will provide a brief summarization and a review of the article, Bound from Either Side : The Limits of Power in Carolingian Marriage Disputes, To 840 870, authored by Rachel Stone. The paper will show that Stone s thesis of her article proved to be executed well and proved by gathering four primary accounts from the 9th century. The article, Bound from Either Side : The Limits of Power in Carolingian Marriage Disputes, To 840 870, written by Rachel Stone, provides readers with an insight on how the majority of marriages disputes in the 9th century were often won by the man because of the patriarchal basis of Carolingian society. Even when the men seemed to be in a fragile state, Stone found that even with a man having a restriction on his power within society and within the marriage, the masculinity of the men was not questioned and they continued to remain at the top of the gender order. Stone provides four excellent primary sources that provide back up to the thesis. The sources are of four accounts of marriage disputes in the ninth century Francia. These accounts are of four noblemen. All the of the noblemen Stone sources were affected by Carolingian reforming measures on consanguineous marriage, divorce and raptus (abduction). Looking at a brief summary of the cases; the first of the four is from Falcric, a vassus of Lothar I. His wife entered a convent and he then remarried. This breaches the principle of indissoluble marriage. Hincmar, an Archbishop of Rheims excommunicated him for this. Meaning that Falcric could not partake in sacraments and services of the Christian Church. Falcric appealed to the Pope, claiming that he was not actually married to his first wife, but she was just his concubine, a woman that lives with a man but is of a lower status than his wife. The Modern Hero Of Beowulf Aaron Payne Mr. Walter English IV September 28 The Modern Hero The art of leadership... consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention (Adolf Hitler). Although Adolf Hitler may have been one of the worst men in history, he had a similar rise to power as the Geatish warrior Beowulf did. He gained his leadership by showing up to Germany in their time of need and telling them that he can fix their economic depression after WWII. Throughout the epic poem, Beowulf demonstrates a leadership style that is very effective; however, it has failed many leaders and their cultures in the past, and it is often carried on today. This also ties into Beowulf s hero model, which shows us how drastically the idea of heros have changed throughout history. Beowulf s charismatic leadership style is adequate for him to achieve the role he deserves over the Danes, although it comes along with several drawbacks. Beowulf comes to power by being a courageous figure that comes to help the Danes in their time of need. He often brags about his courageous acts to show his greatness, we see this when he is confronted by Unferth, The fact is, Unferth, if you were truly as keen and courageous as you claim to be Grendel would never have got away with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, havoc in Heorot and horrors everywhere (590 594). Few debates in education have been given more time than grammar schools. Though not a part of the 1944 Act the tripartite system was based on a report by the Norward committee (1943); which made recommendations based on the pseudoscience notion of there being three types of mind: ...
