Pros And Cons Of Legal Burden Of Proof
According to Murphy on Evidence this was explained as the whole of the evidence, of the truth or
sufficient probability of every essential fact in issue.
There are two types of burdens involved in criminal and civil action. Such as,
Legal Burden (LB) and
Evidential Burden (EB)
In the case of legal burden, the jury decides the matter of the case and when it comes to the criminal
matters the prosecution has the burden to prove. In criminal actions the accused, is considered as an
innocent party and the prosecution should have to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
According to the woolmington principle the burden of proof is lie on the prosecution and till the
end of the trial, the accused (criminal procedure) is presumed to be innocent

To His Coy Mistress
To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell is about a man s lust for a woman. The narrator uses
terms like coy to describe his mistress. He also describes sex by using the word ball. The
narrator also compares their love to a vegetable that is steadily growing. The narrator uses words
wisely in his appeal to his lover. The narrator is trying to rush her into making a decision about
loving him. The narrator called his love interest coy because she wouldn t commit to him. The
definition of coy is affectedly and often flirtatiously shy or modest, the narrator seems to be
growing tired of the woman not committing to him. The narrator is trying to tell the woman that
he will love her forever hoping that it will make her fall for him once and for all, My vegetable
love should grow Vaster than empires, and more slow (Marvell). The narrator is lusting for this
woman and will stop at nothing until she is his. The narrator wants his love with his mistress to
grow steadily until it reaches its climax. The narrator is willing to spend time with his mistress
while falling deeper and deeper in love. The narrator compares his love to a vegetable because
vegetables grow slowly and steadily just like his love. But there is one downfall to his statement,
vegetables only grow seasonally and once they hit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fast Food Purchases Between Males And Females
Are there differences in fast food purchases between males and females according to their age?
Abstract
The fast food industry in America seems to make up to $120 billion a year due to the high
consumption rate of their products (Schlosser, 2002). Also, people from the UK are the highest fast
food consumers in Europe and the number of fast food restaurants have doubled between the
years 1984 and 1993. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in fast food
purchases of males and females according to their gender and age in the UK. A survey in the
form of a questionnaire was conducted on 200 males and 200 females aged between 15 and 70
from different parts of the UK. Those participants were chosen if they had responded Yes ... Show

As well as the age difference; that younger people consume more fast food due to the price and
frequent availability of it than older people is also supported by previous research.
Obesity and diabetes are very common consequences of eating too much fast food, but how can
one resist it if these large chains such as McDonalds, KFC and Burger King appear on every
street you go and have now taken over airports, hospitals, entertainment units and even schools? It
is said that fast food purchasing is a typical act of young people since they are commonly
surrounded by it, however it is believed that older people find it a cheap and easy way of
substituting home cooking too. Nevertheless, the main targets of these fast food companies are
younger people, and the chains have recently taken into account that youngsters are trying to have a
healthier lifestyle and have added vegetarian meals, salads and other healthy options to their menus.
The country s concern over obesity, food poisoning and BSE (mad cow disease) caused the
industry to take the issues of food quality and nutrition more extremely. According to the
Lifestyles Statistics Team from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (2015), the rate of
obesity in adults of the UK has increased by 12.8% in men and 7.4% in women in 10 years (from
1993 to 2013), clearly showing the problems that unhealthy eating habits have caused in the

History Of The Omaha Tribe
The Plains Indians tribe that I chose to research was the Omaha Tribe. The Omaha Tribe lived
near present day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being
native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in
Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the OmahaTribe
along with many other Plains IndiansTribes. Today, the OmahaTribe consists of around 6,000
members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha
Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the
Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha
Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with
their gentile systems (https://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha tribe.htm). Originally, the
Omaha Tribe commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become
accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today.
Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore
leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. However, in
colder weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide and wore them in the cold. The shirts
were usually fringed and dirty. The women of the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin

The Pros And Cons Of Wildlife Management
Wildlife management is one of the many branches within Natural Resource Management. This
branch specifically dedicates its time and resources to doing exactly what it sounds like managing
wildlife and the habitat they live in. However, they do this through not directly manipulating the
organisms and habitats, but through the regulations of humans and their activities. It is easier to
help animals by controlling human activity than it is to control the animal s activity. That is why
the true focus of wildlife management lies in managing people, not the animals.
There are numerous ways that humans affect wildlife, both in positive and negative ways. Humans
act as a predator to populations where natural predators have a small population or have been
extirpated from an area. They can remove aggressive or sick animals from a population. Some of
the more negative impacts of humans can be over harvesting a population to the point of an
endangered status or driving them to extinction. When settlers began to expand westward, many
saw economic opportunity. Whether it was trapping beavers for their fur, killing bison for hides,
or trapping songbirds for their feathers, people were tearing populations apart just to make money.
It seemed as if America was plentiful and had an infinite amount of resources. However, that was
not the case. Due to people s carelessness, many species that once roamed the land and skies are
now extinct. Back then, there were no hunting regulations for humans and no legal protection for
the animals. One such animals that has suffered from this was the Carolina parakeet (Conuropsis
carolinensis). This species was a beautiful yellow and orange headed, green bodied parakeet that
inhabited the Eastern United States. It was hunted for a number of things, including destroying
farmers crops and having a high demand in the feather trade due to their vibrant colors. Both of
these factors in combination with the destruction of the bird s habitat led to their population decline
and extinction in the 1920 s. (Cornell Lab of Ornithology).
A great majority of the extinctions that have occurred throughout history can have the causes traced
back to human activity. People realized that extensive and

Coyotes Spreading
Offspring
March and February is the breading season for coyotes. In spring, females make dens to prepare for
their babies. The gestation period of a female is 63 days and gives birth to groups of three to 12
young at a time. The group of coyote babies is called a litter and each coyote baby is called a pup.
The size of the litter size is based on where the coyote lives. In places where there are a lot of
coyotes, there will be a smaller litter size. In areas with less coyotes, the litter size will be bigger.
Taking care of the pup is a job that both male and female participate in. The male will bring food
to the female and the pup and help protect them from predators. Since a pup is born with there
eyes shut, the female will stay in the den for her pups eyes to open. This might take 11 or 12 days.

Personal Strife And Its Effects On Children
Personal Strife can either define one or break one. Whilst the vast majority face issues that produce
a major subsequent impact immediately, a select few face the same battle everyday. Chronic illness
are seldom discussed about nor mentioned amid conversation. Although it causes me great pain, I
have matured from the experience: The daily life of growing up with juvenile Arthritis. Juvenile
arthritis, otherwise referred to as pediatric rheumatic disease, is a blanket term to describe many
different inflammatory and autoimmune conditions that cause joint pain and swelling. Chronic
pain, such as this, can dramatically affect the way a child develops. As a child, I had began to

The United States is Under Cyber Warfare
The United States is under attack. To be exact, the nation s power grid is under attack in the form
of cyber warfare. On May 21st, 2013 Congressmen Edward J. Markey and Henry A Waxman
published a report that provided the findings from information that they had requested from over
150 utility companies (of which 60% responded). More than a dozen utilities reported daily,
constant, or frequent attempted cyber attacks (Markey Waxman) with one utility reporting that they
have about 10,000 attempted attacks per month!
The 2003 northeast blackout that saw about 50 million people from the northeast US and
southeast Canada lose power for about 2 days at the cost of $6 billion dollars according to JR
Minkel (Minkle) and was the biggest blackout in North American history (Minkle). The disaster
lead to a report that showed the blackout was caused by a combination of human error and
equipment failure. To prevent issues like this in the future a smart grid needs to be developed that
would monitor and repair itself in the event of problems. Essentially computers and applications
would be the first responder when there is an equipment failure on the grid. The problem with
this solution is that by placing more of the control of the power grid into the hands of computers
and applications, it opens up the grid to cyber attacks. The economic impact of a total or even
partial failure of the power grid is astronomical and makes a very appealing target to those who

Potassium Compliance Report
Precautions used during administration of potassium contain solution to prevent injury or death
Potassium regulation in the body is impetrative to our body s homeostasis. Small fluctuations in
the normal potassium blood levels can be dangerous. Should an individual require potassium
therapy client safety is the priority. As always the five rights of medication should be closely
followed when administering medications. (Ignatavicius, 2013, pg. 185) Potassium is available in
various concentrations and can be caustic, as a result it should never be given subcutaneous or IM
injection. As mandated by The Joint Commission concentrated potassium should be diluted and
added to IV solutions in the pharmacy by registered pharmacist and concentrated vials of
potassium cannot be in patient care areas (Ignatavicius, 2013, pg. 185). The ratio of potassium
dilution has very specific perimeters also. IV administration of should not exceed 1mEq of
potassium to10mL of solution. When giving larger dose a programed infusion device is
recommended to ensure the infusion rate of 5 to 10 mEq/hr while never increasing the above 20
mEq/hr. (Ignatavicius, 2013, pg. 185). Prior to infusion the nurse checked and rechecked again

The respiratory system uses breathing to compensate for these changes. The changes in CO2 affect
receptors in the respiratory area of the brain. As the CO2 levels continue to raise the central
receptors send signal to increase breathing. Increasing the rate and depth of breathing, increasing
the amount CO2 exhaled. In turn, lowering the build up of CO2 in the lungs and in the ECF. As
this process continues arterial CO2 returns to appropriate level, normal breathing resumes.

Dasaratha had four wives and Ravana had a lot and they were all suppose to be loyal to their
husband and satisfy their needs. Also in the story all the rulers, kings, or leaders were all men
even the monkey kingdom and there wasn t one woman who ruled. An example of this in the
story is the leader of the monkey kingdom Sugreeva is a male and the king of Ayodhya,
Dasaratha is also a male. Men also had role to fight and battle while woman weren t aloud to and
were expected to keep doing their stuff they usually do and be a loyal wife. For example all of the
battles that were taken place in the story there were no women in the battle field. Men were
dominant in the ramayana and woman had no power but in today s time it is much different from
that.
In today s society men are expected to have only wife and not multiple and it is also the same for
a woman and if that is broken then it is considered cheating which is a unacceptable thing. That
was not the case in the Ramayana. In our current time men and women rule. An example of this
is the ruler of England Queen Elizabeth II is the current leader of England and is a female. Also
America had a women run for president and even though she didn t win there is out to be a time
soon that a female will become the next president for the United States. This would of never been
heard of in the time of the Ramayana. For war and battle it is acceptable for a women to be
enrolled into the army with men now. There are quite a bit of women

Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream
The course of love never ran smoothly. There were not the best times in a Midsummer Night s
Dream. There are many details in the play that could keep you wanting to know what happens with
them next. The characters in the play could still be able to love who they wanted. In a Midsummer
Night s Dream, William Shakespeareuses diction, imagery, and detail to portray the tone to the
characters lovein the play.
Love had never ran smoothly with Hermia. Hermia said The worse that may befall me in this
case i refuse to wed Demetrius. (Shakespeare 7). Shakespeare shows this when Hermia said this
she is saying that she does not want to marry Demetrius. She would only want to marry
Lysander. Hermia said O Hell! To chose love by another s eyes. (Shakespeare 5). Hermia said
this because she does not think that it is right for someone else to chose who you marry. She
thinks that it is better to chose on your own. Hermia said I Frown upon him, yet he loves me

Analysis Of The Sapphires
The Sapphires by Wayne Blair is an award winning film, which explore the lives of four
aboriginal women Gail (Deborah Mailman, Julie (Jessica Mauboy), Cynthia (Miranda Tapsell) and
their cousin Kay (Shari Sebbens) throughout their journey and role in the Vietnam War. A range of
film techniques such as settings, characters, conflicts and symbols are used to explore prejudice
towards their indigenous heritage, with a variety of film techniques as well. In the orientation of
the film Blair uses techniques such as setting, this is an important technique as different settings
can either show a rise of reduction of prejudice towards indigenous people. The film begins in the
Australian outback, where the audience is first introduce to two characters Gail and Kay. The two
girls are cousins and are running across the scene, they make up about 10% of the height of the
screen. Blair uses long shot contrasting their vulnerability. Establishment shots of the homes and
buildings and also seen, we as the audience understand that the girls are relatively poor as there are
many family member sharing minimal houses, they are living in close proximity to each other and
live in a remote area. Already Blair has expressed the theme of prejudice by depicting the isolation
indigenous people have with white communities. The aboriginal families seem to be living in a
mission environment contrasting that they were disadvantaged from the European settlers. After

The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball Players
Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball players in today
s society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the ability to play at a professional
level is what makes these men truly worthy of their income.
Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a professional baseball
player has been increased substantially throughout the past decades; a player today makes
exceedingly more than they used to. Baseball is different from other sports due to the mental
aspect of the game making it one of the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle
to become a professional at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent
throughout the globe. Some argue whether baseball is a beneficial career to the community as
other professions including firefighters, fireman, policeman, and nurses deserve the admiration
more than a professional baseball player. Good ball players are always in demand throughout the
league. MLB players are highly skilled athletes thus earning them the right to such a high income as
they bring value to the organization and have put in dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and
practice throughout all levels of play.
Consistency is what makes an average player an all star especially for Giancarlo Stanton of the
Miami Marlins. Giancarlo racked up 59 home runs in the 2017 season. In The Case for Giancarlo

And Death Shall Have No Dominion, By Dylan Thomas
Dominion of Death
For years and years; death was something that people saw as the only gateway to what they
believed to be the afterlife or heaven. Believing that god would grant them access to heaven if
they were to live holy and sinless lives. However towards the beginning of the 20th century this
belief started to weave towards the belief that the afterlife would be the eternal end of ones life
on physical earth, with some even believing that there wouldn t be an afterlife. This all leaded to
people overall living happier and longer lives. This all inspired a type of writing style called
modernism; to be more specific Neo romanticism. One of the most famous writers of this genre was
Dylan Thomas who famously wrote And Death Shall Have No Dominion. This poem contains the
characteristics of the beliefs of Neo Romanticism by showing that even though death must happen,
it mustn t be something that one just lets stroll by and take them away. Because the belief is that
death should be avoided in order to live the longest, fullest, and happiest life possible.
The whole concept of living an alien life in the 19th century terms began to be known as
Modernism. It drove to desire to change traditional ways of representations and to express the new
ways of the era. In the case of the late 1800s old beliefs such as religion, treatment of monarchy,
and social norms began to be questioned and challenged. This challenging of society started in the
late 1800s all the way through the

Analysis Of The Poem The Waste Land
The first lines of T.S. Eliot s poem, The Waste Land, proclaim,
April is the cruelest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain (lines 1 4). 1 4)
This stanzaese ilines invokes a strange mix of hopeful images, layered with words of
despair.veiled beneath words of despair . Many would agree there is a clear feeling of
hopelessness throughout the poem; however, through poetic allusions to redemption, glimpses of
optimism are seen in Eliot s work, suggesting all may not be lost. His references to the redeeming

Philomela, show that Eliot perhaps holds onto a glimmer of hope for society s despondent
state.fordespondent state .
Eliot calls to our attention the degradation of society using the theme of lust throughout The Waste
Land. In A Game of Chess and again in The Fire Sermon, he describes how sex has become an act
devoid of meaning and emotion. The speakers in these sections show how society has separated
sex and love, stripping it of its significance. However, in What the Thunder Said , Eliot points the
way to redemption. He quotes Dante stating, Poi s ascose nel foco che gli affina (line 427) which
translates to, Then he hid himself in the fire that refines them. The purifying fire he speaks of

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Fracking
The Good, Bad and Ugly of Fracking There is a gold rush going on right now. Man is breaking
the earth, looking for natural gas. It s a mad scene, with hucksters on every side of the issue.
There is a lot going on underground and that process is called Fracking. The word alone can stir up
controversy. The process of extracting natural gasthrough hydraulic fracturing or fracking, might
summon in someone s imagination an environment and damaged communities. Natural gas hides
from sight it is invisible. Perhaps envisioned a prettier picture one that involves clean burning fuel,

Developing these natural gas resources can help enhance the country s energy security, strengthen
local and state economies, and fuel job growth. Many Americans, oppose any kind of pollution.
However, here are reasons to support fracking: 1. It can lead to our nation becoming energy
independent 2. It will provide an enormous boost to our state and local economies 3. It has already
driven down natural gas prices to the point where utilities are replacing dirty coal fired power
plants with cleaner natural gas burning plans and increasingly vehicles are burning natural gas
instead of dirtier gasoline 4. It will provide many well paying jobs to geologists, well drillers, office
workers, truck drivers, construction workers, and many more. So what is the snag and how serious
is it? Communities where fracking has taken place, notably in Ohio and Pennsylvania, protest the
noise and scarring of the landscaping during the initial explorations. Restoration and compensation
can better those concerns. The most significant fear is that the wastewater with chemicals from the
fracking process, called, flowback, can contaminate the aquifers and drinking water. State regulators
in Alaska, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennslvania, South Dakota, Texas
and Wyoming have stated that there have been no verified or documented cases of groundwater

The Kingdoms Of Day And Night
The Kingdoms of Day and Night
It would seem the people did not understand the urgency of the situation, the years of history and
development of the kingdom was under siege and they were only moments away from obliteration.
Still they continued to walk along the gravel roads, seemingly unaware of the looming phantom of
absolute destruction that shrouded itself within the unsuspecting crossroads that divided the city. It
was not your typical tale of two cities, in fact to call these two cities was an insult to the efforts
that were taken to distinguish these two powerful kingdoms, distinguishable factors that could only
be ascertained from within as any third party who were to travel between the two mighty nations
would believe them to be one in the same. Only through distinctive circumstance could the
kingdoms be perceived as separate, even their oblivious gravel roads and the people who strolled
along them were strikingly similar The aforementioned circumstances were manifested solely from
a traveler s interaction with the two kingdoms, the sense of hospitality and the lack thereof was
what segmented them as if they were kingdoms of night and day. Hospitality was the key to the
Kingdom of the Sun while intimidation and exploitation was the driving force behind the Kingdom
of the Silver Sky.

The Kalam Argument That God Is The Creator Of The Universe
The Kalam argument is the best argument to explain that God is the Creator of the universe. Some
of the major expositors of this argument are Lane Craig, JP Moreland, Groothuis and many others.
This cosmological argument is divided in three sections, the first premise states Whatever begins
has a cause it denies the idea that nothing came out of nothing. In fact, nothing lacks all casual
power, therefore material things should have a cause. Groothuis in his book shares that he does not
conceive the idea that a musician appears in from of him from nowhere. Therefore all beginnings
have to have a cause. The universeis not eternal because it has a beginning. The second premise

time and the theory that Cuba was behind the assassination. In the history books and the knowledge
in everybody s head is that Lee Harvey Oswaldwas a lone shooter, but in the rest of this essay
you`ll see that there are many more possible versions for what happened. But one thing for sure is
that JFK died at the hands of somebody. On November 22, 1963, John F. Kennedywas on his way to
speak at a luncheon. As the car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza ,people heard gunfire
coming from the Texas School Book Depository. People watched in horror as the president was

After the Bay of Pigs incident people suspected Cuba of being behind the assassination, but Fidel
Castro wanted to make sure he wasn t blamed, so he made a statement saying that this is absurd
and nobody under his control had any ideas of organizing the death of the president of the
United States and if he had heard of the plan he would ve put a stop to it (Watkins). There is no
evidence proving that Lee Harvey Oswald had any connection with Cuba when he committed the
assassination of JFK. The only evidence to prove this theory is that he tried to get a visa to go to
Cuba, but he was allegedly rejected because the government thought he was an undercover
provocateur. (Lewis). There are many different theories as to what happened, but many people

Discrepancy Of Wealth In Canada
There is a growing discrepancy of wealth in Canada. The gap between the wealthy and the poor
continues to grow. Seventy percent of wealth in Canada belongs to the most affluent section of
Canada s population (Mojtehedzadeh, 2014) . Many believe that Canada is not going through such
a dramatic disparity between rich and poor in comparison to other countries. However, the rich get
richer, while the poor get poorer. The gap between the wealthy Canadians and the rest is constantly
growing and the primary reasons are the rising unemployment rate in Canada, globalization,
inequality in wages and salaries, and high education rates. One of the main factors that increases
disparity between the rich and the poor is the unemployment rate in Canada.... Show more content

While import costs for goods and services are rising, the average income is not. Imports costs are
increasing as the value of the Canadian dollar falls. People who are working for a minimum wage
have almost no chance to purchase their own property in the near future. Housing prices in
Canada are constantly growing and are reaching record highs. In Canada, the average cost of
living is about $20,164 per year; which makes it quite difficult for individuals earning a
minimum wage to support themselves (Young, 2015). The increasing cost of living is often
mentioned from consumers based on an eye test. However, with the fallen value of the
Canadian dollar, this is becoming truer by the day. In its most recent decline, the Canadian
dollar has decreased by fourteen percent to just above seventy three cents US (Sreauss, 2015)
Canada imports almost 81% percent of its fruits, vegetables and nuts. Thus, as the Canadian
dollar decreases in value, the cost of these items has increased. This results in families spending
more of their income on living expenses. Unfortunately for Canadians, their income has not
increased at the same rate (CBCNEWS, 2015). For individuals on social assistance, the amount
received rarely covers both the cost of shelter and food, leaving many to rely on food banks. On
social assistance, a family would need to spend 37% of its income on food and 69%

Garden Of Eden Research Paper
The Jewish people believe that the current world is a place to prepare oneself for Olam Ha Ba,
the World to Come. According to the Talmud, all of Israel has a share in the World to Come, but
it is not equal. A righteous person will have a greater share than that of an ordinary person. The
place of spiritual reward for the righteous is known as Gan Eden, the Garden of Eden. This is not
the same garden in which Adam and Eve lived. The Garden of Eden is a spiritual utopia in which
only the righteous directly go to. An average person would first go to a place of punishment and/or
purification, known as Gehinnom or She ol. The time spent in She ol continues no longer than 12

Jewish tradition states, For when a man departs from this world... [he] meets Adam, the first
man, witting at the gate of Gan Eden, ready to welcome with joy all those who have observed
the commands of their Master. Round him are many righteous men, those who in this life have
kept clear of the path to Gehinnom and followed the part of Gan Eden. Upon arriving in Gan
Eden, souls encounter the light of Gan Eden through the River of Light. Tradition states that the
river is created from perspiration that flows from the heavenly hosts as they fervently sing glory
to the Highest. The river serves the purpose of purification so that one may emerge and come
before the Master of the Universe in a completely pure state. Within Gan Eden, there is a lower
and an upper level. Lower Gan Eden serves as a transit between She ol and Upper Gan Eden. In
Lower Gan Eden souls continue to prepare for entry into the Upper Gan Eden. The Zohar, a work
from within the Kabbalah, states that upper Gan Eden is reserved for the pious of a higher grade.
Upon entering upper Gan Eden, the soul is once again purified in the River of Light. The second
purification heals the soul of any remaining defilements. Upper Gan Eden is said to consist of
celestial music and organized schools for continuous learning of the Torah. Within the upper level,

method produces polyesteramide of different morphology with fairly high average molecular
weight, glass transition temperature and degradation temperature. This polymerhas unique
characteristics due to different functional group such as ester, amide and aromatic groups present in
the polymer matrix which further helps in enhancing thermal and mechanical properties. The

The Struggle of the Women of Sudan
The women of Sudan have come a long way in their struggle not only to be heard, but also to have
a positive and lasting effect on the people in Sudan. This organization was born during exile, and
reflects the long struggle and what has been achieved by the women in Sudan. Since its
establishment in 1998, this organization has brought women from the both the Northern and
Southern part of Sudan together in order to work for the same goals. Women in Sudan have started
a campaign that will work to defuse the hostility between communities as well as to have a social
identity in where they can empower themselves and fight for their rights. This peace movement has
helped to produce the development and peace within their communities. Overall, this movement has
worked to strengthen and empower women politically, socially, and economically. The history of
how this peace movement initially began in 1997. But before this movement had started, Sudan
was and still continues to be in a state of violence, chaos, and restlessness. The main reason being
that Sudan has historically been home to many different ethnic groups that speak various languages
and different customs. Since the 1500s different groups of people tried to colonize and rule over
Sudan. Because of the constant conquering by different people Sudan never really achieved a state
of peace. In 1504 Sudan was conquered by The Funj Sultanate, who were Muslims immigrants from

Nepal s Effect On India
Background
Nepal s geography has made Nepal economically dependent on India as it is surrounded on three
sides by India and on one (to its north) with the Himalayan range and the region of Tibet. After the
devastating earth quake in Nepal, the country was hit by another humanitarian crisis this time due
to a blockade at a crucial crossing on the border with India, which halted oil and other essential
supplies landlocked Nepal obtains from its giant neighbor. The unveiling of a new constitution in
late September sparked tensions between the Madhesi ethnic group and the government. The

So, those to blame were Madhesi leaders, Indian government for supporting them and lastly Indian

Effects of the Blockade
Nepal Oil Corporation had instructed fuel stations to stop selling petrol and diesel to vehicles
bearing private registration numbers. The Nepali government was allowing people to drive only

those carrying medical and essential supplies are being exempted. Efforts were also ongoing to

Community Music And Wellness Paper
This phenomenological study explored the wider issues of the effects of music to wellness. Because
Americans are enjoying up to 40 additional years of life (Population Reference Bureau, 2013) many
healthy older adults choose community music participation as an activity. In the current study,
participants were either solo artists or members of small to large ensembles who began music
education in childhood and developed music competencies of advanced, expert, and or virtuoso
skills. Our research shows that music identity determined PMs values and beliefs to maintain their
wellness for community music participation; this compares favorably with Dolfsma (1999). This
study agrees with Hays (2005) in that singing and playing instruments maintains cardiovascular
functioning and several domains of wellness. Likewise, this study agrees with other researchers
(Bowers, 1998; Hays Minichiello, 2005; Joseph Southcott, 2014; Skingley, Martin, Clift, 2015), that
music promotes wellness. Most PMs reported that community music was the reason they enjoyed
wellness, which was a core priority to sustaining their participation in community music. However,
it is problematic to discern whether their desire to be as healthy as possible for improved musical
performance, or whether musical performance contributed significantly to... Show more content on

Benefits Of An Emissions Tax Or A Tradable Permit Policy...
Beyond environmental issues related to poverty are those that can increase from economic growth
itself as countries become more industrialized, rise their agricultural production, and spend greater
amounts of fossil fuels, the environment often suffers. The challenge facing policymakers
worldwide is to control economic growth in a way that increases its benefits and reduces its costs,
in terms of harm to both the environment and to the free market system. (Dahlberg,2012). This
essay will argue that either an emissions tax or a tradable permit policy can achieve the best
solution for the environment. Booth tax and tradable permits have benefits and drawbacks. Taxes
leave businesses and consumers with flexibility to determine the lower cost to reduce the
environmental harm. Nevertheless, Pollutionpermits give the incentive to develop new technologies
aimed at inexpensively reducing pollution and it is more effectively than taxes.
In economics, an externality is a cost or benefit that influences a party who did not choose to incur
that cost or benefit. Moreover, negative externality accrues when the production or consumption of
a good cause harmful influence to a third party, sometimes these effects are indirect and tiny.
However, when they are large, they can become problematic. Furthermore, in the case of pollution,
usually an example of a negative externality, a polluter makes resolutions based particularly on the
direct cost and profit opportunity from production and

Though Victor Frankenstein and his creation both have qualities that are clearly monstrous, Victor
s selfishness, his abandonment of his responsibilities, and his inability to recognize his own faults
and the monstrous qualities within himself qualities within himself make him the true monster
while his creation is rather the opposite.
It would be logical to assume that someone who grew up in a very close family full of selfless
people who take care of others and offer their time and help to the less fortunate would grow up to
be selfless and altruistic himself. This is not the case with Victor Frankenstein. He realizes that he is

He always puts the blame on his passions or his wishes, never himself. He even blames his own
father. According to Victor, his actions are the the fault of the spirit of good or chance or
knowledge. When he does finally acknowledge that the creation of the creature and the way the
creature grew up is his fault, he claims he s only not altogether free from blame . He does not
fully take the blame, and then he goes on to basically say that everybody makes mistakes, so it s
okay that he reanimated and abandoned a human who had already been dead. He calls his
creation a catastrophe, a wretch, a miserable monster, a filthy demon, a devil, a depraved wretch.
What Victor does not acknowledge is that he was the one who made the creature this way. When
it comes to describing Victor, he is seen as noble and godlike in ruin . He is not seen as a
monster who did irreparable damage to another human being, but as a fallen god. What s more is
that Victor does not hesitate to blame himself for the deaths of William, Henry, Elizabeth, and even

The region herein referred to as Mesopotamia was made up of independent city states that had their
respective political organizations and sphere of influence. Between the period of emergence and
fall, Mesopotamian city states often engaged each other in various wars due to the fact that the
Kings of respective cities always wanted to expand their territorial boundaries. The need to expand
the sphere of influence also stemmed from the desire to control vast amount of resources (Fordham
University, Mesopotamia ).
The Ancient Mesopotamian inhabitants lacked a unified national identity. They majorly identified
themselves with their respective cities and their political control. The concept of national identity
arose only after the development of the printing press, which makes it understandable why this
region was not unified under a common national identity. Most of the identities were, however,
defined alongside family, clan, village and then the city (Fordham University, Mesopotamia ).
Religion in Mesopotamia
Religion in Mesopotamia was understood as a concept that helped people to get a deeper meaning
of the world and its surroundings. It offered an assurance to the people of Mesopotamia that there
are other existences beyond the chaotic and random happenings of the physical world.
Consequently, Mesopotamians had anthromorphic gods that often assumed the appearance of

When you join the military, work for the government, or government contractors, you give up
some of your rights and freedoms. If you are entrusted with security clearances and access to
classified materials, you give up even more rights and freedoms. These rights and freedoms are
not taken from you. You voluntarily give them up. If you violate the trust put into you, you
deserve any and all punishment that comes your way, no matter how noble your ego makes you
think the cause is. (Bella, 2013). Author here states Snowden could have walked away from his
job or the government if he did not like what he did for them. Company paid him well above
$200K a year and put in a great amount of trust in him. Author sees it as if someone puts a trust or
discloses classified information then the person voluntarily gives up his or her right of freedom of
speech. Being smart in a field and using the knowledge to help country get stronger is a good
thing, but being childish and disclose classified information to public is a big deal for the author.

Argumentative Essay On Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy and radiation are the two most common types of cancer treatments. Chemotherapy
is a treatment where cancer patients are given specifically designed drugs that kill cancer cells.
Radiation or radiotherapy is a treatment where cancerous tumors are targeted by high doses of
radiation in order to damage the cell s DNA, causing it to die. While radiation and chemo may be
effective on their own, an oncologist may recommend a combination of the two for patients who
have an advanced stage cancer. People who have been a patient of cancer, no matter what age, can

In 1954, The United States Supreme Court made a landmark decision with its ruling in the case

reasons. Firstly, it was a major step in the Civil Rights Movement as it ended the legal use of
separate but equal facilities, under the ruling that this violated the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal

greater sense of dignity as they no longer could be legally forced to drink from different fountains

He believed that in order to understand law, one must first realize what law s purpose is. He,
like Thomas, argued that law s purpose it to benefit society by creating a morally sound order to
human action and conduct. He detailed seven goods that he believed to be intrinsic and
universal, and argued that laws should be enforced under the stipulation that they adhere to the
enhancement of these goods, because they are what determines a fulfilling life. They are: life,
knowledge, play, aesthetic experience, sociability, practical reasonableness, and religion. The
goods that relate to the thesis of this paper the most are knowledge and sociability, as the result
of the case has a direct benefit on them and is, therefore, moral and legitimate. Legal positivists,
however, disagree that morality has any place in determining what legitimate law is. H. L. A. Hart
based much of his theory on the previous legal positivist John Austin s work. Austin believed that
laws obtain their legitimacy from the recognition of a society s members in the authority of their
unruled ruler. This unruled entity that enforces laws with the backing of sanctions, is what Austin
terms the sovereign. He believed that in order for a sovereign to exist it had to be habitually
complied with by those it governs. What separates Austin s theory from natural law theories is that
he did not believe that laws had to be created or followed on the basis of morality. According to

The Cask Of Amontillado, And The Masque Of The Red Death
Edgar Allen Poe, a master of suspense, wrote stories over a hundred and fifty years ago that
remain popular today. One of Poe s suspense techniques in these short stories are unreliable
characters. An unreliable character is a character, whether in literature, film, or theatre, whose
credibility has been seriously compromised. The unreliable narrator forces the reader to ask
questions like, Is this true? rather than Who did it? or What happened? Poe uses unreliable
characters in many of his stories very effectively to keep the reader guessing what is ultimately
true. Three of his most famous stories, The Tell Tale Heart , The Black Cat, The Cask of

If the main character was not mad, it would still be a good story. However, Poe made this
narrator unreliable by making him mad. The narrator says, I heard all things in heaven and in the

himself how he is mad but, right before he said he heard things in heaven and hell. That is
unreliable. Poe also doesn t name the unreliable narrators in these stories which makes them
unreliable. He does name other characters that are more reliable including, the old man and Pluto
in The Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat. Additionally, Poe uses violence and death to show that
the characters were unreliable. In The Black Cat the main character cut his cats eye out and then,
hangs his cat. In The Tell Tale Heart the main character chokes the old man to death. This is

Analysis Of Bosses Seek Critical Thinking
In 1989 1995, my father took a job as a manager of the newspaper Marin Independent Journal

His own experience with these issues and critical thinking is what helped him become manager
for almost four years. In her article, Bosses Seek Critical Thinking , but what is that , Melissa
Korn claims that qualities like critical thinking and problem solving are major assets that young
workers may lack. As she explains, critical thinking is something that is hard to describe and can
have many different ways of wording it. That, in turn makes it difficult for employers to set this
bar. Korn continues to give multiple types of definitions of critical thinking to show exactly how
the definitions can differ. She then adds that an incorporation has their candidates work through
company assessments to see how they reach their conclusions. This lets them see if their workers
are qualified. Korn then proceeds to bring Jerry Houser s opinion on how schools are encouraging
students to focus too much on their social lives. Upon reading Korn s article, i ve found that
although many parts are agreeable, such as when she talks about how difficult it is to actually

understand the definition of what a world view is and what a Christian worldview looks like as
well as what a secular worldview looks like. It is not uncommon for individuals to have different
worldviews because the meaning of the word is a set of beliefs one uses to understand the
world. All people grow up viewing the world different because to the different things they
experience in their lives. A worldview defines the basis of how an individual interprets reality. A
person s worldview would help establish one s principles by how they judge right from wrong
and it s their guide for everyday living. A person s worldview shapes the way individuals interact
within the world. Worldview plays a major role when it comes to establishing one s moral opinions
such as religious beliefs, marriage, politics, social structures, environmental concerns, educational
standards, economics, children upbringing, food consumption, and the list continues. Individuals
behave according to what they believe, not what they don t believe. In today s world there are so
many different worldviews and spiritual worldviews. Most worldviews can be summed up into
either a secular humanist worldview or a Christian worldview.
Secular worldview is a religious worldview that states that man is the measure. In this worldview
everything is centered on human beings and they tend to act as God. Individuals with this

The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary
lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the
experiment psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control.
Basically, he gives a group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat
the cookie immediately or they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to
back they will receive another cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who
resist to eat a cookie and wait for him to gain another cookie they will do better in the school
than the kids who did not resist. For instances, they will get higher sat scores than who eat the
cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the same experiment instead of using cookie I
use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be difficult for them to refuse candy.
So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they are in different grades. Based
on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it difficult to candy but seniors are
also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter ideology because I did
experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who resist eating candy
straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to resist the candy so
they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the delaying gratificationis
the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in high school, they will
less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more stable marriages.
On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as successful in high
school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about the delaying
gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of patience
and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying
Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had
higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol
addiction . The author

Our slogan reflects our difference because while most establishments offer healthy choices on
their menu, our entire menu is researched to be a healthy choice. There are three ways a
customer can purchase food. They may sit down at one of the 68 seats in the dining room and
get full service from a waitperson. A separate take out counter services those who wish to pick up
their food. Most take out food is prepared to order with orders coming from the telephone.
Delivery (an indirect form of take out) is available at certain times and to a limited area.

The idea of a health consciousness through nutritional awareness and dietary change has been
slowly building for the last years. The extensive studies and new Food Guide Pyramid have given

Becoming a California State Lifeguard
Becoming a lifeguard has been an interest of mine for many years. Leading a healthy active
lifestyle and helping others is a great profession. Being able to live and work in beautiful California
State Park Lands, educating people about water safety, rescuing victims from rip currents, and
training the youth to be competent in the water are all great reasons to be a California State
Lifeguard. Also, along with many responsibilities, a lifeguard must be in top physical and mental
health. There are many universities in California that offer programming of interest to a student
wanting to pursue a career as a California State Lifeguard. The University of California ... Show

The use of lifeguards on beaches in California began in the late 1930 s. Communities grew
around seasonal beach attendance because it was an affordable place for adventure after the
Depression. When transportation improvements made the beaches accessible to the inland
communities, swimmers entered the surf zone. In Southern California drownings increased on
a massive scale. For example, in the early 1900 s Newport Beach experienced 18 drownings in
one weekend. In 1918, 13 people drowned in San Diego in one day. Lifeguard services were
modeled after east coast lifeguard operations. Swim lines or lifelines were attached to shore.
However, struggling swimmers were not always able to hold onto them. Row boats(dory boats),
the rescue paddle board, and throw lines were used. Swimming rescues were the last resort due. So,
eventuality Californians supported bond issues that allowed the Division of Beaches and Parks to
acquire significant coastal land. Acquisition of land led to the development of campgrounds. They
both became instantly popular and the immediate need for lifeguard service was met with a
contract to the

Man Vs Nature in Yann Martel s Life of Pi Essay
Author Nancy Wynne Newhall once wrote The Wilderness holds answers to more questions than
we have yet learned to ask. To man, nature can be manipulated and overrun easily but it is not
easily destroyed permanently. In Life of Pi by Yann Martel, Pi convinces himself he has altered the
beastly nature of his tiger companion, Richard Parker, however, he fails to realize this as a
misconception until the certain events with Richard Parker that ultimately revealing that the savage
naturewithin wild animals cannot be tamed.
To overcome his constant fear of Richard Parker, Pi devises a system in an attempt to tame the
wild beast. Pi realizes the tiger is important to keep around but he is frightened by his presence and
killer instincts. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being more comfortable around such a beast, however, later proves to be a fault of Pi s. The
unpredictable behavior of such a wild animal causes a huge threat to Pi. Richard Parker
exemplifies this wild behavior by bursting over the ridge at full gallop...coming [Pi s] way high
speed (Martel 263). Pi describes this event as a rapid and direct approach of a known killer
which casts a different image of Richard Parker than the previous seemingly harmless companion
(Martel 236). Pi s reaction to his fear is using his method of whistle which causes more anger
within Richard Parker. Richard Parker s unexpected reaction to the training method proves how
capricious a personality of an animal is. Thus, attempted taming of a wild animal was merely a
distant goal Pi thought he had accomplished.
The violent outbreak of Richard Parker, along with his silent departure at the end of the novel,
portrays how futile it is to try to change a wild animal into a civilized being. Richard Parker
seems, at first, to have experienced a spiritual breakthrough and transformation after Pi s attempt to
training. Even in the end, Pi s ability to survive such a journey with a beastly killer seems
evidence enough that Pi trained the tiger. Pi s main goal, along with survival, is to establish a level
of equality between himself

HSBC, as with other banks, took advantage of many poor consumers looking to own their own

there was a higher probability of them not paying back the loan. These banks took advantage by

When you have lenders not collecting the right information on consumers to help predict if they
are able to pay the loan or not and not explaining the loan correctly to consumers, it causes
conflicts. Consumers did not really understand the loans; they just knew they would become
homeowners. Subprime loans are the worst, to me. Who wants to pay back 10 times what their
home is actually worth? The new Experian Scorex software will provide great value to HSBC s
strategy management. This new system will collect information and will help HSBC in their credit

Lauryn Hill is not only a natural born performer and a lyrical genius, but above all a role model.
Throughout her life, starting from a young age, she has influenced the music industry greatly

New Jersey to two loving parents, Mal and Valerie Hill. Lauryn was never wealthy, but lived

Destroy By Peter F. Martin Analysis
Is cheating in sports unethical? Well, according to the Greek God Zeus, it certainly is. In Peter F.
Martin s essay Destroyed, he asserts that cheating is immoral and calls for a shift in focus to the
grave danger steroids pose to athletes as opposed to their corruption of sports. Martin is able to
coherently convey his purpose through adept uses of logos, ethos, and pathos that work seamlessly
to promote acceptance of his argument. In Destroyed, Martin appeals to logos in the form of
undeniable truths and solid reason. The argument begins by establishing cheatingas an epidemic by
demonstrating the wide range of steroid use in sports. He slowly progresses towards the conclusion
that cheating goes against the morals of society, making the reasonable connection that steroids are
awful because they compromise the integrity of sports, and for their toxic effects on players. To
drive the point home on the dangers of steroids, Martin notes the death of Ken Caminiti, the
whistleblower for the steroid problem who died at forty one of a heart attack as a result of steroids.
To define what cheating is, Martin uses a definition derived from Zeus, that cheating can be
characterized as enhancing otherwise fair and natural competition. And that according to Zeus,
steroids fall into the category of unfair enhancements. The rational layout... Show more content on

Copyright Law And Plagiarism
Most people have heard about Copyright laws and plagiarism, but not everyone knows the full
extent of the protection Copyright laws provide, or the penalties of plagiarizing. First I will go
over Copyright law, what can be Copyrighted, what having a Copyright lets you do, the penalties of
Copyright infringement, and fair use. Next I will go over plagiarism, what can be plagiarized, the
punishments of plagiarism, and the techniques that can be used to avoid plagiarism. And finally I
will go into how Copyrightlaw and plagiarism relate to each other, as well as talking about the
public domain.
First let s look at what Copyright laws protect and the penalties of infringing upon Copyrighted
work. Copyright is a form of protection granted by the government which protects original
works of authorship, such as books, song, movies, computer software, and more, from being
stolen. However facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, cannot be Copyrighted. Having
a Copyright lets you reproduce your work, make related works, make copies, and perform or
display the work publicly. The penalties of infringing upon a Copyrighted work are, the infringer
may be taken to court, be forced to pay the damages or lost profits the copyright infringing work
cost the creator or the profits the infringer made off of the stolen work. They could also be forced
to pay all attorney fees and court costs, have the illegal work impounded, and may be jailed.
However, most of the time the Copyright

Conflicts In The Chrysalids
Secondly, John Wyndham s novel The Chrysalids shows the consequences of going against the
beliefs of closed society through major conflicts in the novel. Firstly, Joseph became enraged and
accuses David for wishing to have another hand. Wyndham writes, you my own son were calling
upon the devil to give you another hand! (26). To explain, this creates a conflict between David
and his dad, Joseph Strorm. David s father is a strict believer in the Waknukian faith. To explain,

From his family s perspective, this is blasphemy, and David does not follow the norm. Therefore,
the way that his father snapped at him clearly demonstrates the importance of the norm. Unlike
David, Joseph puts a great deal of faith in the power of words which is shown by making David
pray for forgiveness. Lastly, Anne marries Alan which is not a very good idea from Michael and
his group s perspective, due to Anne s telepathic abilities. Anne says I m not a fool. Of course, I
ve thought. I ve thought more than you have. I m a woman I ve a right to marry and have
children (91). The quote illustrates how much Anne desires to be a norm and to fit in.
Additionally, she does not care how her decisions can affect her and the others around her. By
this, Anne is putting herself and all the other member s life in danger. Hence, if Anne tells Alan
about her telepathic abilities, Alan will tell the authorities, and everyone will force them to go

Analyzing The Poem My Papa s Waltz
My Papa s Waltz In this poem, the poet portrays the memory of his father negatively. The father
is dominating and over controlling his son into dancing the waltz, much to his discomfort. He

to oppression by his father. The poem reveals to the reader of an oppressive father who has to

reveals that the father makes it difficult for the son. He notes that his father waltzed him off to
bed while he still clinging to his shirt (17 18). The main conflict expressed in this poem is that of
a father who is possessed by dancing the waltz, to an extent that he forces his child into it with no

the family romped until the utensils fell. The third and fourth stanzas also shift as the poet

and emotions across the poem. The poet uses imagery to describe the experience he was

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Legal Burden Of Proof According to Murphy on Evidence this was explained as the whole of the evidence, of the truth or sufficient probability of every essential fact in issue. There are two types of burdens involved in criminal and civil action. Such as, Legal Burden (LB) and Evidential Burden (EB) In the case of legal burden, the jury decides the matter of the case and when it comes to the criminal matters the prosecution has the burden to prove. In criminal actions the accused, is considered as an innocent party and the prosecution should have to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. According to the woolmington principle the burden of proof is lie on the prosecution and till the end of the trial, the accused (criminal procedure) is presumed to be innocent ... • 4. Fast Food Purchases Between Males And Females Are there differences in fast food purchases between males and females according to their age? Abstract The fast food industry in America seems to make up to $120 billion a year due to the high consumption rate of their products (Schlosser, 2002). Also, people from the UK are the highest fast food consumers in Europe and the number of fast food restaurants have doubled between the years 1984 and 1993. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in fast food purchases of males and females according to their gender and age in the UK. A survey in the form of a questionnaire was conducted on 200 males and 200 females aged between 15 and 70 from different parts of the UK. Those participants were chosen if they had responded Yes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well as the age difference; that younger people consume more fast food due to the price and frequent availability of it than older people is also supported by previous research. Obesity and diabetes are very common consequences of eating too much fast food, but how can one resist it if these large chains such as McDonalds, KFC and Burger King appear on every street you go and have now taken over airports, hospitals, entertainment units and even schools? It is said that fast food purchasing is a typical act of young people since they are commonly surrounded by it, however it is believed that older people find it a cheap and easy way of substituting home cooking too. Nevertheless, the main targets of these fast food companies are younger people, and the chains have recently taken into account that youngsters are trying to have a healthier lifestyle and have added vegetarian meals, salads and other healthy options to their menus. The country s concern over obesity, food poisoning and BSE (mad cow disease) caused the industry to take the issues of food quality and nutrition more extremely. According to the Lifestyles Statistics Team from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (2015), the rate of obesity in adults of the UK has increased by 12.8% in men and 7.4% in women in 10 years (from 1993 to 2013), clearly showing the problems that unhealthy eating habits have caused in the ... • 5. History Of The Omaha Tribe The Plains Indians tribe that I chose to research was the Omaha Tribe. The Omaha Tribe lived near present day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the OmahaTribe along with many other Plains IndiansTribes. Today, the OmahaTribe consists of around 6,000 members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with their gentile systems (https://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha tribe.htm). Originally, the Omaha Tribe commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today. Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. However, in colder weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide and wore them in the cold. The shirts were usually fringed and dirty. The women of the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Wildlife Management Wildlife management is one of the many branches within Natural Resource Management. This branch specifically dedicates its time and resources to doing exactly what it sounds like managing wildlife and the habitat they live in. However, they do this through not directly manipulating the organisms and habitats, but through the regulations of humans and their activities. It is easier to help animals by controlling human activity than it is to control the animal s activity. That is why the true focus of wildlife management lies in managing people, not the animals. There are numerous ways that humans affect wildlife, both in positive and negative ways. Humans act as a predator to populations where natural predators have a small population or have been extirpated from an area. They can remove aggressive or sick animals from a population. Some of the more negative impacts of humans can be over harvesting a population to the point of an endangered status or driving them to extinction. When settlers began to expand westward, many saw economic opportunity. Whether it was trapping beavers for their fur, killing bison for hides, or trapping songbirds for their feathers, people were tearing populations apart just to make money. It seemed as if America was plentiful and had an infinite amount of resources. However, that was not the case. Due to people s carelessness, many species that once roamed the land and skies are now extinct. Back then, there were no hunting regulations for humans and no legal protection for the animals. One such animals that has suffered from this was the Carolina parakeet (Conuropsis carolinensis). This species was a beautiful yellow and orange headed, green bodied parakeet that inhabited the Eastern United States. It was hunted for a number of things, including destroying farmers crops and having a high demand in the feather trade due to their vibrant colors. Both of these factors in combination with the destruction of the bird s habitat led to their population decline and extinction in the 1920 s. (Cornell Lab of Ornithology). A great majority of the extinctions that have occurred throughout history can have the causes traced back to human activity. People realized that extensive and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Coyotes Spreading Offspring March and February is the breading season for coyotes. In spring, females make dens to prepare for their babies. The gestation period of a female is 63 days and gives birth to groups of three to 12 young at a time. The group of coyote babies is called a litter and each coyote baby is called a pup. The size of the litter size is based on where the coyote lives. In places where there are a lot of coyotes, there will be a smaller litter size. In areas with less coyotes, the litter size will be bigger. Taking care of the pup is a job that both male and female participate in. The male will bring food to the female and the pup and help protect them from predators. Since a pup is born with there eyes shut, the female will stay in the den for her pups eyes to open. • 9. The United States is Under Cyber Warfare The United States is under attack. To be exact, the nation s power grid is under attack in the form of cyber warfare. On May 21st, 2013 Congressmen Edward J. Markey and Henry A Waxman published a report that provided the findings from information that they had requested from over 150 utility companies (of which 60% responded). More than a dozen utilities reported daily, constant, or frequent attempted cyber attacks (Markey Waxman) with one utility reporting that they have about 10,000 attempted attacks per month! The 2003 northeast blackout that saw about 50 million people from the northeast US and southeast Canada lose power for about 2 days at the cost of $6 billion dollars according to JR Minkel (Minkle) and was the biggest blackout in North American history (Minkle). The disaster lead to a report that showed the blackout was caused by a combination of human error and equipment failure. To prevent issues like this in the future a smart grid needs to be developed that would monitor and repair itself in the event of problems. Essentially computers and applications would be the first responder when there is an equipment failure on the grid. The problem with this solution is that by placing more of the control of the power grid into the hands of computers and applications, it opens up the grid to cyber attacks. The economic impact of a total or even partial failure of the power grid is astronomical and makes a very appealing target to those who wish to cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In today s society men are expected to have only wife and not multiple and it is also the same for a woman and if that is broken then it is considered cheating which is a unacceptable thing. That was not the case in the Ramayana. In our current time men and women rule. An example of this is the ruler of England Queen Elizabeth II is the current leader of England and is a female. Also America had a women run for president and even though she didn t win there is out to be a time soon that a female will become the next president for the United States. The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball Players Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball players in today s society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the ability to play at a professional level is what makes these men truly worthy of their income. Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a professional baseball player has been increased substantially throughout the past decades; a player today makes exceedingly more than they used to. Baseball is different from other sports due to the mental aspect of the game making it one of the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle to become a professional at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent throughout the globe. Some argue whether baseball is a beneficial career to the community as other professions including firefighters, fireman, policeman, and nurses deserve the admiration more than a professional baseball player. Good ball players are always in demand throughout the league. MLB players are highly skilled athletes thus earning them the right to such a high income as they bring value to the organization and have put in dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and practice throughout all levels of play. • 16. And Death Shall Have No Dominion, By Dylan Thomas Dominion of Death For years and years; death was something that people saw as the only gateway to what they believed to be the afterlife or heaven. Believing that god would grant them access to heaven if they were to live holy and sinless lives. However towards the beginning of the 20th century this belief started to weave towards the belief that the afterlife would be the eternal end of ones life on physical earth, with some even believing that there wouldn t be an afterlife. This all leaded to people overall living happier and longer lives. This all inspired a type of writing style called modernism; to be more specific Neo romanticism. One of the most famous writers of this genre was Dylan Thomas who famously wrote And Death Shall Have No Dominion. This poem contains the characteristics of the beliefs of Neo Romanticism by showing that even though death must happen, it mustn t be something that one just lets stroll by and take them away. Because the belief is that death should be avoided in order to live the longest, fullest, and happiest life possible. The whole concept of living an alien life in the 19th century terms began to be known as Modernism. It drove to desire to change traditional ways of representations and to express the new ways of the era. Many would agree there is a clear feeling of hopelessness throughout the poem; however, through poetic allusions to redemption, glimpses of optimism are seen in Eliot s work, suggesting all may not be lost. His references to the redeeming hellfire of Dante s Divine Comedy, and transformation through tragedy in The Story of Tereus and Philomela, show that Eliot perhaps holds onto a glimmer of hope for society s despondent state.fordespondent state . Eliot calls to our attention the degradation of society using the theme of lust throughout The Waste Land. In A Game of Chess and again in The Fire Sermon, he describes how sex has become an act devoid of meaning and emotion. The speakers in these sections show how society has separated sex and love, stripping it of its significance. However, in What the Thunder Said , Eliot points the way to redemption. He quotes Dante stating, Poi s ascose nel foco che gli affina (line 427) which translates to, Then he hid himself in the fire that refines them. It s a mad scene, with hucksters on every side of the issue. There is a lot going on underground and that process is called Fracking. The word alone can stir up controversy. The process of extracting natural gasthrough hydraulic fracturing or fracking, might summon in someone s imagination an environment and damaged communities. Developing these natural gas resources can help enhance the country s energy security, strengthen local and state economies, and fuel job growth. Many Americans, oppose any kind of pollution. However, here are reasons to support fracking: 1. It can lead to our nation becoming energy independent 2. It will provide an enormous boost to our state and local economies 3. It has already driven down natural gas prices to the point where utilities are replacing dirty coal fired power plants with cleaner natural gas burning plans and increasingly vehicles are burning natural gas instead of dirtier gasoline 4. It will provide many well paying jobs to geologists, well drillers, office workers, truck drivers, construction workers, and many more. So what is the snag and how serious is it? Communities where fracking has taken place, notably in Ohio and Pennsylvania, protest the noise and scarring of the landscaping during the initial explorations. Restoration and compensation can better those concerns. The most significant fear is that the wastewater with chemicals from the fracking process, called, flowback, can contaminate the aquifers and drinking water. The Kingdoms Of Day And Night The Kingdoms of Day and Night It would seem the people did not understand the urgency of the situation, the years of history and development of the kingdom was under siege and they were only moments away from obliteration. Still they continued to walk along the gravel roads, seemingly unaware of the looming phantom of absolute destruction that shrouded itself within the unsuspecting crossroads that divided the city. It was not your typical tale of two cities, in fact to call these two cities was an insult to the efforts that were taken to distinguish these two powerful kingdoms, distinguishable factors that could only be ascertained from within as any third party who were to travel between the two mighty nations would believe them to be one in the same. Only through distinctive circumstance could the kingdoms be perceived as separate, even their oblivious gravel roads and the people who strolled along them were strikingly similar The aforementioned circumstances were manifested solely from a traveler s interaction with the two kingdoms, the sense of hospitality and the lack thereof was what segmented them as if they were kingdoms of night and day. Hospitality was the key to the Kingdom of the Sun while intimidation and exploitation was the driving force behind the Kingdom of the Silver Sky. Because Americans are enjoying up to 40 additional years of life (Population Reference Bureau, 2013) many healthy older adults choose community music participation as an activity. In the current study, participants were either solo artists or members of small to large ensembles who began music education in childhood and developed music competencies of advanced, expert, and or virtuoso skills. Our research shows that music identity determined PMs values and beliefs to maintain their wellness for community music participation; this compares favorably with Dolfsma (1999). Likewise, this study agrees with other researchers (Bowers, 1998; Hays Minichiello, 2005; Joseph Southcott, 2014; Skingley, Martin, Clift, 2015), that music promotes wellness. Beyond environmental issues related to poverty are those that can increase from economic growth itself as countries become more industrialized, rise their agricultural production, and spend greater amounts of fossil fuels, the environment often suffers. The challenge facing policymakers worldwide is to control economic growth in a way that increases its benefits and reduces its costs, in terms of harm to both the environment and to the free market system. (Dahlberg,2012). This essay will argue that either an emissions tax or a tradable permit policy can achieve the best solution for the environment. Booth tax and tradable permits have benefits and drawbacks. Taxes leave businesses and consumers with flexibility to determine the lower cost to reduce the environmental harm. The ruling was a monumental one for multiple reasons. Firstly, it was a major step in the Civil Rights Movement as it ended the legal use of separate but equal facilities, under the ruling that this violated the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. It gave African Americans access to better schools, and also gave them a greater sense of dignity as they no longer could be legally forced to drink from different fountains or sit in separate sections. Another aspect of the decision that makes it so significant is the fact that it did the rare task of overturning a previous Supreme Court decision,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that in order to understand law, one must first realize what law s purpose is. He, like Thomas, argued that law s purpose it to benefit society by creating a morally sound order to human action and conduct. He detailed seven goods that he believed to be intrinsic and universal, and argued that laws should be enforced under the stipulation that they adhere to the enhancement of these goods, because they are what determines a fulfilling life. They are: life, knowledge, play, aesthetic experience, sociability, practical reasonableness, and religion. The goods that relate to the thesis of this paper the most are knowledge and sociability, as the result of the case has a direct benefit on them and is, therefore, moral and legitimate. Legal positivists, however, disagree that morality has any place in determining what legitimate law is. H. L. A. Hart based much of his theory on the previous legal positivist John Austin s work. Austin believed that laws obtain their legitimacy from the recognition of a society s members in the authority of their unruled ruler. This unruled entity that enforces laws with the backing of sanctions, is what Austin terms the sovereign. He believed that in order for a sovereign to exist it had to be habitually complied with by those it governs. What separates Austin s theory from natural law theories is that he did not believe that laws had to be created or followed on the basis of morality. According to Austin s ... • 39. The Cask Of Amontillado, And The Masque Of The Red Death Edgar Allen Poe, a master of suspense, wrote stories over a hundred and fifty years ago that remain popular today. One of Poe s suspense techniques in these short stories are unreliable characters. An unreliable character is a character, whether in literature, film, or theatre, whose credibility has been seriously compromised. The unreliable narrator forces the reader to ask questions like, Is this true? rather than Who did it? or What happened? Poe uses unreliable characters in many of his stories very effectively to keep the reader guessing what is ultimately true. Poe also doesn t name the unreliable narrators in these stories which makes them unreliable. He does name other characters that are more reliable including, the old man and Pluto in The Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat. Another problem he faced was how some people s mail were stolen. His own experience with these issues and critical thinking is what helped him become manager for almost four years. In her article, Bosses Seek Critical Thinking , but what is that , Melissa Korn claims that qualities like critical thinking and problem solving are major assets that young workers may lack. As she explains, critical thinking is something that is hard to describe and can have many different ways of wording it. That, in turn makes it difficult for employers to set this bar. Korn continues to give multiple types of definitions of critical thinking to show exactly how the definitions can differ. She then adds that an incorporation has their candidates work through company assessments to see how they reach their conclusions. This lets them see if their workers are qualified. Korn then proceeds to bring Jerry Houser s opinion on how schools are encouraging students to focus too much on their social lives. Upon reading Korn s article, i ve found that although many parts are agreeable, such as when she talks about how difficult it is to actually describe and prescribe critical thinking, other parts like ... • 42. The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the experiment psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control. Basically, he gives a group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat the cookie immediately or they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to back they will receive another cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who resist to eat a cookie and wait for him to gain another cookie they will do better in the school than the kids who did not resist. For instances, they will get higher sat scores than who eat the cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the same experiment instead of using cookie I use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be difficult for them to refuse candy. So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they are in different grades. Based on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it difficult to candy but seniors are also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter ideology because I did experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who resist eating candy straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to resist the candy so they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the delaying gratificationis the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in high school, they will less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more stable marriages. On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as successful in high school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about the delaying gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of patience and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol addiction . Pi describes this event as a rapid and direct approach of a known killer which casts a different image of Richard Parker than the previous seemingly harmless companion (Martel 236). Richard Parker s unexpected reaction to the training method proves how capricious a personality of an animal is. Thus, attempted taming of a wild animal was merely a distant goal Pi thought he had accomplished. The violent outbreak of Richard Parker, along with his silent departure at the end of the novel, portrays how futile it is to try to change a wild animal into a civilized being. Richard Parker seems, at first, to have experienced a spiritual breakthrough and transformation after Pi s attempt to training. Even in the end, Pi s ability to survive such a journey with a beastly killer seems evidence enough that Pi trained the tiger. Martin s essay Destroyed, he asserts that cheating is immoral and calls for a shift in focus to the grave danger steroids pose to athletes as opposed to their corruption of sports. Martin is able to coherently convey his purpose through adept uses of logos, ethos, and pathos that work seamlessly to promote acceptance of his argument. In Destroyed, Martin appeals to logos in the form of undeniable truths and solid reason. The argument begins by establishing cheatingas an epidemic by demonstrating the wide range of steroid use in sports. He slowly progresses towards the conclusion that cheating goes against the morals of society, making the reasonable connection that steroids are awful because they compromise the integrity of sports, and for their toxic effects on players. To drive the point home on the dangers of steroids, Martin notes the death of Ken Caminiti, the whistleblower for the steroid problem who died at forty one of a heart attack as a result of steroids.
