Depletion of ozonelayer. • One of the major reason due to which depletion of ozone occur is due to the presence of the gas named chloro f luorocarbons (CFCs) in our environment. • Which, then mixes with other gases such as (carbon- Di- oxide , nitrogen -di- oxide ,sulphur - di- oxide. Etc. )and helps them to depletion ozone layer.
- 3. • Chloro f luorocarbons and hydrochloro f luorocarbonsare fully or partly halogenated para ff in hydrocarbons that contain only hydrogen ,chlorine, and f luorine , produced as volatile derivative of methane, ethane, and propane. They are also commonly known by the DuPont brand name Freon. • The means of chloro f luorocarbons are: Refrigerators , Air conditioners, spray paints etc. Chloro f luorocarbons
- 4. Status of OzoneLayer. • Present status of ozone layer is A signi f icant reduction in the consumption of ozone- depleting substances (ODS) has been achieved by the EEA-33 countries since 1986. This reduction has largely been driven by the 1987 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Montreal Protocol. • But, this year due the pandemic (Corona virus) COVID 19 the lockdown was conducted because of which pollution level in environment was also dropped as a result chloro f luorocarbon gas also was unable to mix with other gasses as a result ozone layer also start healing itself. • So as if now ozone is also healed and is f it as earlier.
