Virtue Theory And Abortion By Rosalind Hursthouse
PHI 107 Essay Assignment 11/24/15 Katelalyn Miller Virtue Theory is one of many different
moral theories that exist today. It is based off of Aristotle s Virtue Ethics which focuses on
having an ideal character. The main focus of Virtue Theory is the role of one s character, which
is closely related to its roots in Aristotle. A Virtue Theorist would do things because it is who
they themselves are, not because it is good to do them or because they will get something good
from doing them. In the article, Virtue Theory and Abortion , by Rosalind Hursthouse, she
explains her view on abortion without trying to solve the issue of if it is right or wrong. She,
with the use of Virtue Theory, simply says that an action is right only if a virtuous agent would
do it were they in the same circumstances. She goes on explaining how a Virtue Theorist needs to
apply if actions are honest/dishonest and charitable/uncharitable; without doing this then Virtue
Theory would be of no use with real moral issues because of a lack of argument. Hursthouse says
that there are two main things taken into consideration when speaking of the morality of abortion.
The first thing is the status of the fetus, meaning whether or not it is a conscious being and if it
may or may not be killed. The second thing is women s rights, if a woman has the right to choose

The Factors Of The French Resistance In World War II
The French Resistance The French Resistance was a collection of resistance groups that fought
against Nazi Germany and its puppet state of Vichy France. They were mainly comprised of men
and women who fought the Nazis through sabotage, ambushes, and hit and run tactics; disrupting
power grids, transport lines, and telecommunications. In addition to guerilla warfare, they also
published underground newspapers, collected intelligence, and helped Allied soldiers trapped
behind enemy lines to escape. Furthermore, they also played a large role in Operation Overlord
(invasion of northern France) and Operation Dragoon (invasion of southern France) by providing
the Allies with locations of Nazi fortifications and defenses. The French Resistance was extremely
crucial to winning World War II and saving the lives of Allied soldiers.
The surrender of France to the Nazis in June of 1940 was a major blow to French nationalism.
Many believed the government had let the people down by fleeing Paris and through the creation of
Vichy France, a French puppet government supported by the Nazis. The assurance by the French
government that the Maginot Line was more than strong enough to resist a Nazi attack was of
course, proved false. The Maginot Line also had a glaring weakness: there were very little
fortifications bordering Belgium. France did not want to offend its ally, so the Maginot Line
stopped at the Ardennes Forest, which was considered impenetrable. However, the Nazis bombed

Quinceanera Reaction Paper
As she gracefully walked down the aisle dressed in a gold tulle ball gown, her mother shed tears of
joy and her father beamed. This was their baby all grown up. September 24, 2016 was the day
Sophia Brooke Kahl transitioned from a girl to a young woman; it was her QuinceaГ±era. Similar
to a Sweet 16 party in American culture, a QuinceaГ±era is a Latin American celebration of a girls
fifteenth birthday and her transition into womanhood. During the course of the day, the
Quinceanera (Birthday Girl) renews her baptismal promises in front of her familyand community,

A white chair was pulled out into the middle of the dance floor, and everyone gathered around her
as Sophia and her father performed the traditional Shoe Ceremony. The Shoe Ceremony consists
of the Quinceanera s father taking off her flat shoes and replacing them with high heels. The
heels signify her growing up from a child; from needing help to walk to being able to stand on
her own as a young woman. Sophia s father proceeded to remove her black, Converse tennis
shoes and replace them with 3 high heels, bedazzled with rhinestones. She then walked into her
father s open arms, and shared her first dance as a young woman with him. In doing so, Sophia
signified that the most important man in her life, other than God, was always going to be her
father. As a part of this first dance, both of her Grandfathers took a turn dancing with her, where
they expressed their love for the newest young woman in their family. Watching them dance was
my favorite part of the entire evening. It reminded me of dancing with my own great grandfather
(now deceased) at my uncle s wedding. It was beautiful seeing how proud her grandfathers were
of Sophia and admiring the person she had become. She was no longer just a little girl; she was a

Essay about Maytag s Marketing Strategy Plan
Maytag s Marketing Strategy Plan
If asked what you know about Maytag s marketing program, the first thing to come to mind
would probably be its lonely repairman ad campaigns. For 35 years, those ads have helped
position Maytag as a reliable brand for major appliances. Gordon Jump, an actor who really was a
former Maytag repairman, played the lonely repairman role in ads for 14 years. In 2004, another
veteran character actor, Hardy Rawls, took on that job. Although Maytag s basic positioning has
been consistent over many years, marketing managers at Maytag are constantly developing new
marketing strategies. So let s take a closer look at what they did in one innovative strategy planning
process that resulted in profitable growth for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It tested well on cleaning, but Maytag thought it fell short in improving other customer benefits.
GE was further behind in working on a front loaders. But these were strong competitors, so if
Maytag didn t move quickly they wouldn t get a lead. Maytag formed a cross functional new
product development team to quickly focus the effort. It screened various product ideas and
strategies on criteria such as potential for superior customer value, initial costs, long term
growth, social responsibility, and profitability. Using nearly 40 pieces of consumer research, the
team refined what the strategy might be and what it would cost. Marketers today have better
marketing metrics for measuring the performance of marketing plans. They can use four tools
to check on plan performance: sales analysis, market share analysis, marketing expense to sales
analyss, and financial analysis. Sales analysis consists of measuring and evaluating actual sales
in relation to goals. Market share can be measured in three ways. Overal market share is the
company s sales expressed as a percentage of total market sales. Served market share is its sales
expressed as a percentage of the total sales to its served market. Its served market is all the buyers
who are able and willing to buy its product. And relative market share can be expressed as market
share in relation to its largest competitor. Annual plan control requires making

Keanu Reeves Research Paper
According to Mahatma Gandhi, Be the change you want to see in the world. Keanu Reeves is
one of the best well known actors, producers, and musicians in the United State. Reeves has been
playing the role of a hero, for he shares his wealth, time, and love with the world. Moreover, Reeves
demonstrates that he is a great man for making positive changes in other people s life. For me,
Reeves is an incomparable person whom I admire because he is a generous person and a role
model: and, he is a sturdy person.
When I first saw Reeves in the Matrix movies, I regarded him as an ordinary or typical actor.
However, while I was watching a video on YouTube about great and unique artists, some of the
truths about Reeves revealed itself to me. Since then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins with overcoming objections, such as drug and depression. Although he did not have a
father in his life while growing up, he turns out to be a father and provider for children who are
in needs and fatherless. Reeves demonstrates he is strong minded by moving forward throughout
the challenges and barriers he had to overcome. For example, he chose to make a different path in
life after witnessing his best friend die of an overdose. He also overcame depression, even though
death follows him like paparazzi in Hollywood. Reeves sister was killed by leukemia; therefore, he
funds millions of dollars to charities and hospital to help those who are diagnosed with the disease.
Regardless of the Reeves loss of his first born child and lover in a car accident, he chose to love
again and helps making other children s life better. In brief, I admire the Reeves role as a provider
and giver to those in needs despite his own life tragedies.
On the whole, I have many reasons for acknowledging Reeves as one of my most admire artists.
When I describe him as generous, model, and sturdy, I feel good because those words also resemble
me. He has motivated me, and others alike, to make positive change. Reeves moves me by
playing the role I dream of becoming. Keanu Reeves shows that one way we can make better

How Has Life Changed Since 1800 Essay
How has life changed since 1800?
Life as we know it today in the modern world, is significantly different to the lives that our
predecessors lived during the period 1500 1800. The changes across the centuries are the result
of a process of advancements over time. This essay will examine life in the period 1500 1800 as
highlighted in the work of George Blainey (2000) and will compare key differences of life in this
early period, against life in the modern world today. Throughout this essay, the main focus will be
based on three areas which have seen significant change over this period of time: the production of
food, work practices and the standard of living. The advancements in these three areas, has led to
societies living very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
409). While these workers could be sure of not going hungry, this meant the take home wages were
low.
Living standards as described by Blainey (2000) were bleak. Most people lived in one roomed,
small stone houses, often with four or more sharing one bed. Homes often remained unheated
due to scarcity of wood (Blainey 2000, p. 423). People were largely uneducated and knew little
about healthcare. Sewerage was disposed of in the same rivers that were used to drink and wash
from. These contaminated rivers were used to supply water to the growing crops. This had a huge
impact on health, causing infection in around two out of every three people in rural areas (Blainey
2000, p. 415). Lack of hygiene and knowledge of healthcare led to shorter lifespans.
Life today in 2014 is vastly different to the period 1500 1800 as described by Blainey (2000).
Survival no longer hinges on hunting and gathering food. In fact many people today give little or
no thought to food production. Instead, we drive to a supermarket and buy whatever we want to
eat. We have access to many restaurants and fast foodoutlets, so we not only have ample food at
our fingertips, we don t even have to prepare it if we choose not to. Advancements in production
and using machines in place of humans (Henslin, Possamai and Possamai Inesedy 2011, p. 139)
mean food is now farmed and produced on a much larger scale (Macionis and

V2 Rocket Persuasive Essay
On September 6th of 1944, mankind s aspiration to reach the stars slammed into the Earth in the
form of the V2 rocket striking Paris (Britannica; Hollingham). The V2 rocket was a new sort of
weapon: it combined the elegance of rocket science into the brutality of war, with it enabling Nazi
Germany to claim thousands of lives. The man responsible for designing such a perversion of
humanambition, Werner Von Braun, would later become indispensable to the United States mission
to put a man on the moon. The moon project not only showed the vast capability of the US science
program, but also revolutionized many fields of technology and thus bringing a new sense of pride

repurposed to bring about good and the betterment of all mankind. atrocities should never be
celebrated, and humans at large must stop them wherever they occur. Since their presence is
inevitable, however, society must change malevolent actions into good results so that humanity can
progress both in moral understanding and advance. As John Steinbeck wrote in The Grapes of
Wrath, when mankind takes a step forward, he may slip back, but only half a step, never the full
step back, and likewise society must ensure that when an atrocity comes, it does not embrace the
atrocity but uses it to improve the world and learn from it (Steinbeck 150). To ensure that society
begins to learn from its misdeeds, it must first understand that it has benefitted from atrocious acts.
It is essential to understand that atrocities must be prevented whenever possible and acknowledged
as wrong before improvements can be made. Then society must recognize the atrocity when it
occurs and bring good from

Similarities Between Frankenstein And An Essay On Man
There are several identical themes in both Alexander Pope s An Essay on Man, and Mary Shelley
s Frankenstein. In An Essay on Man, Pope describes many complexities of mankind, which range
from man s identity, to his relationship with God. In Frankenstein, Shelley depicts the story of
Victor Frankenstein, a scientist who creates a living being, and he later suffers negative
consequences as a result of his actions. Alexander Pope s An Essay on Man, contains similar
themes to Mary Shelley s Frankensteinbecause he raises questions about self identification, the
influence of scientific knowledge on an individual, and how the desire to act like God can be
dangerous; with this connection between the two texts, Frankenstein s downfall, as a result... Show

For example, In Pope s poem, while describing several complexities of humanity, he exclaims: Go
wondrous creature! Mount where science guides (19). This quote highlights the ability that
scientific knowledge has to inspire an individual. The phrase Go wondrous creature connotes a
glorifying identity for those who choose to accept and participate in the inspirational world of
science. However, if the knowledge is pursued to an extreme, it can begin to have disastrous.
results. In Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein s work exhibits the theme of the negative influence
that scientific knowledge can have, because while reflecting on the process of constructing the
Creature, Frankenstein states: I seemed to have lost all soul or sensation but for this one pursuit
(36). As his obsession with his pursuit advances, he describes: Every night I was oppressed by a
slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree (38). These quotes function primarily to
demonstrate that Frankenstein chooses to embrace scientific knowledge, but he becomes so
consumed by it, that the desire for pivotal scientific development possesses him to a most painful
degree. As a result, Frankenstein becomes a slave to his work, and it has an extremely harmful
impact on his mental and physical well being. Frankenstein s obsession with scientific knowledge
leads to an deterioration of his overall health, which ultimately leads to his tragic

Figurative Language In Dudley Randall s Ballad Of Birmingham
When I first saw the title, Ballad of Birmingham I thought that this poem is going to be about the
city of Birmingham and how beautiful it is. Then I saw what was beneath the title which said, On
the bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama, 1963. I now know that the poem is going to be
about a bombing, something I know but the characters don t. That sentence also tells me it takes
place in 1963 which is around the time of the civil rights movement.
The poem is about a girl who wants to go downtown and march for freedom but his mother would
not let her because she fears her daughter will get hurt. The mother sends the girl to church thinking
she will be safe there. Then the church is bombed and the girl was one of the victims
In this poem the poet and speaker are two totally people. The poet is Dudley Randall and the
speaker is a spectator. I can tell that the speaker is a speaker because he/she is telling a story for
example, She clawed trough bits of glass and brick. This shows us that the speaker is a spectator
since he/she is telling us what is happening as if he/she were there.
In this poem there is a lot of figurative language. One of the biggest types of figurative language
used in this poem is irony. The irony in this poem is how the mother wouldn t let her child go to
march because she feared her child would get hurt. Instead she sent her child to church because
she believed it was a safe and sacred place but ironically the church ended up being bombed.
Another piece of figurative language that is very effective in this poem is imagery. The way the
poem is written helps me create images in my head for example, She raced through the streets of
Birmingham. I can imagine her running around desperately, looking for her child. The metaphors
and hyperboles in this poem also help with the imagery, for example, ...night dark hair, and ...rose
petal sweet. These metaphors make me think of the girls smoothly combed black hair and her
fresh and beautiful rosy smell. A hyperbole that had a huge effect on the tone was, But that smile
was the last smile to ever come upon her face. This hyperbole really helps me understand the effect
of a tragic moment like this and how it can completely ruin

The diversity remains a major challenge for majority of airlines seeking to achieve best level
customer experience and satisfaction. Different people have different reasons behind them using
air transport. The various reasons may be categorised into three main groups (Atilgan, Akinci, S.
Aksoy, 2008). First category involves those travelling for pleasure and status. Travellers in this
group always use air transport as way of achieving personal pleasures. The second group involves
individuals who travel for business or work related activities. This group of travellers have unique
preferences that airline organizations must meet so as to make them fully satisfied.
The last group of individuals are those seeking medical services and emergency service. This
group of people have unique needs that must be met so as to make them have great experience that
would yield best satisfaction. The strategies embraced must consider how the service is felt at
individual level. Failure to ensure that the majority of travellers if not all travel preferences and
needs are at most met, the organization risks losing customer to other airline organizations with
better customer satisfaction strategies (Huang Feng, 2009).

An Analysis Of Ben Jonson s The Lyric
In 1616, Ben Jonson published the lyric Still to Be Neat, which was responded to in 1648 with
Delight in Disorder, a lyric by Robert Herrick (Kornman, 1)(Adams, 1). Both poems are iambic
tetrameter and include a plethora of similarities. These similarities, including rhyme and diction, are
used to emphasize the theme, which I believe to be naturalness, of both poems (Reviewing, 1). The
message of each poem, although presented through different tones, is that the imperfections of a
woman s natural beauty are admirable to not only the eyes, but also the heart of a man. While the
poems use diction to accentuate the common theme and display similar rhyme schemes that
represent the point of view in the poems, there is a difference within these similarities, the
contrasting tones, which aid in getting the message across to the reader.
Notably, the use of diction in each poem is used to emphasize the theme and aid to the tone of
each speaker. For starters, the speakers in each poem are men that prefer a woman in sweet
disorder ( Delight 1) with hair as free ( Still 9), rather than a woman still perfumed ( Still 3) and
too precise in every part ( Delight 14). In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, much poetry
incorporated the idea of disorder in women and specifically, Jonson notes that there s something
peculiar about a woman who is always neatly dressed; what is she hiding (Adams, 1). In these few
examples, the diction is geared towards representing

Texting While Driving And Driving
No matter how much effort state governments try to make to avoid people texting while driving,
only so much can be done on the government s and law enforcement s side of the matter.
Different states have different rules. Some outlaw texting while driving when under the age of
21 or 18. Other states have hand held bans on cell phones while some states have an all phone
ban. Law enforcement officers who regulate and enforce traffic matters have to catch the person
in the act of texting while driving. Catching a person in the act is not an easy task to accomplish
as an officer of the law. Even a consistent and national law against texting while driving would
plausibly not solve the calamities. I think the true issue of driving and texting is contingent with
the drivers. Drivers should take heed to statistics, priorities, and lives involved regarding the issue
of texting and driving. Many statistics can prove how texting while driving is a serious problem,
and a majority of the drivers do not realize the risks. Other drivers know the dangers and risks of
texting while driving, but do not have the appearance of caring. Although the amount of casualties
resulting from texting while driving has decreased considerably, there is still a shocking number of
deaths and casualties from this issue. The number of casualties and deaths from texting while
driving have surpassed the number of drunk driving incidents. Drunk driving deaths a year amount
to about 2,700 lives while driving and

Alden Nowlan s story called The Fall of a City discusses the central theme of how life
circumstances are beyond human control in most of the cases. This theme is applied to the
specific idea of coming of age through the story of the main character. Teddy is an eleven year
old boy who lives with his uncles. Teddy spends the afternoons playing in the attic and creating a
paper world: the kingdom of Upalia. The uncle and the aunt are suspicious about what the child is

The Field Of Pharmacy Is A Growing Problem
The field of pharmacy is a growing, but at the same time stagnant. It is growing because it is
changing as the healthcare system is changing. After the changes in the healthcare system, the field
has included pharmaceutical care in its mission. As described in Communications Skills for
Pharmacist book, pharmaceutical care requires the pharmacistto take responsibility for preventing
and solving drug related problems and optimizing drug therapy (p.1, CP). On the other hand it is
stagnant because the mission is not being fulfilled. The traditional way of practicing, which is
dispensing drugs only, still persists.
The pharmacy is being practiced in an unethical way as the patient is told to sign the paper, without
being informed what rights the patient is losing. Presently, there is a need of pharmacists in the
healthcare system, since they have the knowledge of drug interaction. But there might be a
reduction in need because the healthcare wants something more than just dispensing medications.
The need for pharmacist will only be understood, when the people know what to expect from
pharmacists. If the patients understand that the pharmacist can provide them counseling, then they
will approach the pharmacist. Some pharmacists want to fulfill the pharmaceutical care mission, but
the authority puts restrictions and also the pharmacist is not compensated for the work.
Consequently, as the authority is not willing to cooperate, the improvement in the role is difficult.

The Pros And Cons Of Cyber Hacking
Hacking is one of the main forms of cybercrimes (McGuire and Dowling, 2013: 4). To best
understand cyber hacking, it is necessary to first define cybercrime. Basically, the word
cybercrime is a media invention, just as cyberspace (Jewkes, 2010). Cyberspace is deemed to be
the imaginary space on the internet. Consequently, the crimes committed within this cyberspace are
called cybercrimes (Yip, 2010: 21). Another connotation provided by Symantec refers to cybercrime
as any crimedone with the use of a computer, hardware or network device (Fossi, et al., 2008: 51).
Wall (2008) further explained that cybercrimes are harmful and criminal activities characterised by

definition and types of hacking. Cyber hacking is also defined as the practice of altering

originality created for. Those who partake in this practice are typically referred to as hackers (Negi,

In agreement with the preceding connotation, hacking is likewise defined as an embodiment of an
aesthetic comprised of craftiness and craftsmanship. Hackers are portrayed to be clever and
playful. They are those who show their wit via the combination of humour and source code.
Looking in its sociological and historical context, however, the definitions of hacking have melted

Argumentative Essay On Service Animals
Author Anthony Douglas Williams once said, We have more to learn from animals than animals
have to learn from us, (A Z Quotes), but what most people fail to assimilate is that animals have
given humans erudition on many subjects. Throughout history, animals have helped with
advancements in science, contributing to new ideas to keep people safe and healthy. Moreover,
they continue to help humankind every second of the day, and will continue to do so as science
and technology evolve.
A multitude of traits qualifies animals to work as service animals. The variety of types of service

Dealing With Breakups
Breakups are something that people go through all the time. It is something that can be painful and
difficult to go through. This is why it is important to know how to deal with the problem as
opposed to reacting to the breakup in a way that makes the process even harder to go through.
However, when you re mourning from a broken relationship, you need to make sure that you avoid
a couple things that totally go against the entire breakup etiquette rules.
Mistake #1 Pretend You Are Fine
After a breakup, don t act like you are fine. Give yourself time to mourn, or punch a pillow, cry,
write in your journal and tell your friends exactly how you feel. The temptations might be to just

When you do this, not only will you be disconnected from your ex, but it will make your entire
physical appearance from the public quite negative. You need to fully distance yourself from your
ex and everyone who knows him or her, so dating their friends shouldn t be an option.
Mistake #9 Starting Useless And Meaningless Relationships
Randomly dating people and sleeping with them may temporarily heal your wounds, but it
definitely won t help you fully cope. If you want to start a relationship, it must be when you are
completely over your ex, because if not, you will just be hurting yourself and the person or the
people you decide to be with.
Mistake #10 Seek Revenge
Don t try to break down your ex s car, or teepee their house. Never do something that can cause
you legal trouble and a restraining order. If you are hurting, deal with it through venting out on
your friends and not on your ex. The temptation of revenge won t feed anything but your bitterness.

Roman Culture And The Roman Empire
Roman Culture
The Roman Empire is among the greater ancient civilizations known to man. In 753 B.C. Rome at
one point consisted of The Rhine River to Egypt and from Asia Minor to Britain accumulating
some 2 millions square miles. This essay goes over some of their culture and the great strides
made throughout 753 BC to 27 BC and from 64 AD to 1453 A.D.
I. Military
The Roman military focused on teamwork and making their soldiers brave throughout their
training. The Equitatus played a major role in legionary tactics. The Romans military was far
more superior and successful than any other army for a thousand years. Over many centuries the
Romans dominated the world which brought most of Europe, northern Africa, and the Middle
East under their rule. The only way to obtain citizenship was to serve in the Roman military and
basically get what we call an honorable discharge nowadays. The Army didn t allow marriage
until Cladius came to power in 10 B.C. The military frowned upon being married even after
Cladius. Roman tactics and advanced weaponry was extremely influential to their success. They
had tremendously brutal heavy cavalry called Franks and Lombards. They also came out with a
genius design of an advanced cross bow that was far more accurate than that of an average archer.
II. Architecture
One of the biggest advances in architecture during Ancient Rome was definitely their water systems.
The Roman Empire had extensive aqueducts that carried a vast quantity of water to

Good Country People Characters
Flannery O Connor s Good Country People is a seemingly two dimensional story based around
Hulga Hopewell, a pessimistic atheist, who lives in an old fashioned country home alongside her
mother, Mrs. Hopewell, some others include the farmhand, Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Freeman s two
daughters, Carramae and Glynese. Throughout the story, Mrs. Hopewell, along with the other
characters, assert their views to hulga that good country people are the foundation of living a good
life. The story compares and contrasts these distinctive character views in order to create a more
realistic and three dimensional outlook from the context. After reading over the story a few times, I
noticed a lot of consistency with the underlying meanings that the author... Show more content on

looks at this as a positive quality by letting her be responsible for everything around the house.
When it comes to her treatment toward Hulga however, Mrs. Hopewell seems to lack a certain
sense of sympathy; for example, when she would ask Hulga for help in the fields, she would tell
her If you can t come pleasantly, I don t want you at all . This suggests an obvious intolerance for
her negative behavior. The relationship between Hulga and her mother seems to be that of a
disobedient child and her intolerant mother. Regardless of Hulga s accomplishments, Mrs.
Hopewell still seems incapable of getting past her negative attitude. For example, she believes
college did nothing to break her out of her shell even though Hulga went through years of school
to get her Ph. D in Philosophy. Mrs. Hopewell claims she can t brag about her daughter being a
philosopher because philosophy ended with the Greeks and Romans . On top of her school
accomplishments, Mrs. Hopewell also finds a problem with Hulga s name change. At the age of

believed that Hulga looked through the dictionary for the ugliest name imaginable; she even went

The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people
prefer to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most
historians view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural
community and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand
the underlying causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or
socio economic factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that
the actions of the Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood

The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
In this essay, I will consider Death and Sin in Shakespearean drama and I would like to look at
three of Shakespeare s tragic plays: Hamlet , Othello and King Lear .
Shakespeare uses many themes in all his play that attract audiences throughout history. The things
he wrote about are as relevant now as they were in his time. Death and Sin were issues that are
always around. In his plays, Shakespeare could comment on these things and make audiences see
things that they could not before.
In Hamlet, we can see clear examples of Death and Sin as significant to Shakespearean drama.
The first thing that points to both death and sin is the inclusion of a ghost in the play. ... Show more

Creating An Emergency Response Plan
Creating an emergency response plan is very important in any business. There are different plans
for medical, fire, police, and school. The following plans are imperative in any environment. There
are many things that will happen and Incident Command System (ICS) will help to provide the
responders with an effective system that works. But before we go into the structures, an
understanding of an incident command systemneeds to be addressed. According to OSHA, n.d., ICS
is a standardized on scene incident managementconcept designed specifically to allow responders to
adopt an integrated organizational structure equal to the complexity and demands of any single
incident or multiple incidents without being hindered by jurisdictional boundaries . ICS is a sub
model of the National Incident Management System(NIMS), as released by the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security in 2004.
An incident command system is referenced to an adaptable, scalable response association which
provides a general agenda where people can work side by side efficiently. These people may come
from many different agencies that do not normally work together, and an incident command system
is intended to give regular response and operation procedures to decrease the troubles and
possibility for miscommunication on such incidents. ICS has been summed up as a first on scene
structure, where the first responder is in charge until the situation has been cleared up, a more

Thesis About Street Children
I.Introduction
Everyone deserves to have a home that they can live, a sufficient food and things that makes
them contented although other are not comfortable to their life. Street children are those who are
seen in the street and under the bridges. Orphanage is one of the best places for the street
children to live. In this institution they will guided and they will take care by the officials. Some
parents are not responsible to handle such things because of the way they live. Because of the
poverty a lot of parents are force to abandon their children. And the children are needed to work for
their daily needs.
II.PROBLEM STATEMENT
We can see a lot of children sleeping in the street. We have many orphanages here in the
Philippines but the majority of this is occupied of street children. Due to the poverty and parent
s lack of interest in taking good care of their children many are seen by the roads, under the
bridges and those chasing cars to ask for alms. Some are out of school others are driven in
pushing and using drugs. These reasons are some of the causes why some children are involved

emitting the signal and receiving the echo.
As the distance to an object is determined by measuring the time of flight and not by the intensity of

materials which reflect sound can be detected, regardless of their color. Even transparent materials
or thin foils represent no problem for an ultrasonic

Social Security provides for the needs of a country s citizens when they are no longer able to

Before laying the framework of the argument for meaningful change to social security program, the
program itself must be defined. The Social Security Program is based on the premise during your

generations must also come into effect (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The report however
highlights that an optional additional level of pay in should be created, allowing persons of future
generations who would like to maintain the current benefit level to do so (The Board of Trustees,
2012). The final step to making social security structurally viable is the restructuring of its debt; to
past generations by allocating 2% of current payments towards it exclusively (Gokhale, 2013). With
these changes past, current, and future generations can continue to benefit from social security,
while the program stay s true to its core values of providing persons with the minimum level of
income, when they are no longer capable of working due to their age.
The final structural change that will improve the viability of social security is raising the age
requirement to receive the full benefits of social security. The obvious effects of lifting the age
requirements is the number of payments to individuals is reduced, the number of persons

countries in the world. This group is now one the biggest problems that the world faces today. Isis
stands for Islamic state in Iraqand Syria. Members of Isis were first a part of al Qaeda, then in 2013
became its own group. This paper will answer: How was Isis formed, and why is it the way it is
today? Under its former name Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis), it was formed in April
2013, growing out of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). The organization is led by Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.
Little is known about him, but it is believed he was born in Samarra, north of Baghdad, in 1971
and joined the insurgency that erupted in Iraq soon after the 2003 US led invasion. In 2010 he
emerged as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, one of the groups that later became Isis. Baghdadi is
regarded as a battlefield commander and tactician, which analysts say makes his group more
attractive to young jihadists than al Qaeda, which is led by Ayman al Zawahiri, an Islamic
theologian. IS claims to have fighters from the UK, France, Germany and other European

An Interesting Software Design Technique
3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE
An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven
Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as
relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that
the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards
the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems
as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts,
emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts,
like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these
technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to
forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and
using the same common, ubiquitous language.
Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a
domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application
(which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the
different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application
at hand can probably be a better approach. This will both save

The Pros And Cons Of Lucid Dreaming
In 1911 the term, Lucid Dreaming was first used by a Dutch psychiatrist named Frederick Van
Eden. He described it as a person sleeping but taking on an active role. Lucid dreaming is actually
defined as a dream where the person dreaming is aware they re dreaming and have somewhat
control over the characters and narrators and their role in the dream. Over the course of this
document the basics of lucid dreamingand the knowledge we have of it will be covered, as well as
the senses it effects and how we perceive it.
Now for the most part everyone knows the five senses; sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. We
all have these, and our perception is how we react to these senses. Some people are more prone
to senses than others and that is what makes all of us unique. Now I know what you re thinking;
How can you have any of these senses in reality if you re dreaming? and that s a fair question. But
lucid dreaming isn t just dreaming it s taking control of your ... Show more content on

At this point of sleep your body is basically paralyzed except for your eyes. But when you lucid
dream you don t need to be able to move. Touch in fact doesn t play a factor at all in lucid
dreaming, to be honest the only senses that are really affected by Lucid dreaming is hearing and
sight. To give you a more vivid idea of what lucid dreaming is or a scenario of a lucid dream
would be, think or your normal dreams, weird plots and the weird voids that makes it hard to
describe. Now think of yourself in that same dream, except in this dream you can fly or walk on
water, you re capable of seeing the ground or look up at the sky, as well as feel the wind or
someone grabbing your hand, while also being able to smell the freshly cut grass. Throughout this
whole thing you are actually knowing that it s all just a dream, but you have the power to control

A Framework For The Data Collection And Its Analysis Essay
. A framework for the data collection and its analysis has been recognised in order to answer the
research questions, as well as to achieve the targeted objectives by validating certain methods of
sourcing, collecting and analysing the data (Saunders Thornhill, 2012).
The study on the basis of the literature has shown that the research goals would be achieved more
efficiently with the quantitative method. Whereas, the literature reviewed has revealed an objective
need for numeric data that is necessary in a greater extent due to its absence, rather than non
numeric data. The quantitative method allows to assess the influence of the identified factors by
the end user, which haspermitted to build a consumer behaviour model. Ultimately, the variables
were identified on the basis of the literature studied.
3.2 Research philosophy and approach
The aims and objectives were fulfilled in order to develop a research philosophy. We may define it
as an over arching term relating to the development of knowledge and the nature of that knowledge
(Saunders Thornhill, 2012).
A deductive approach has been used for the research. This was done due to the fact that the
theoretical framework has been defined in advanced, which was followed by testing the previously
outlined theories.(Saunders Thornhill, 2012)Additionally, Positivism has been selected as a
Philosophy for the following study, as it allowed the author to research and assess the situation on
the basis of objective data

Access to Information
Access to Information The Widening Gap
The Digital Divide is a buzz phrase heard today in North America. It refers to the growing divide
between people who have and do not have access to information specifically via the internet. There
are various forms of digital divides but the one that is the most despair is the global digital divide
between industrialized countries and developing nations. Optimists feel that the internet and
information it carries brings potential to societies of developing nations but pessimists feel that the
internet offers no new potential for developing nations but rather it reinforces existing divisions of
inequality. Various positive and negative outlookswill be delved into in this essay to give a ... Show

The argument here is: how could the global digital divide be on the top of the agenda if these
countries are not even having their basic needs met? UNESCO (United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization) emphasizes that most of the world s population lacks basic
access to a telephone, let alone a computer. If developing countries lack traditional media and
information communication technologies then it s quite a reality that the internet will just be another
piece of technology that creates a bigger gap between the information haves and have nots.
Although technology has always held potential as an engine of economic growth for
transforming developing nations, critics argue that in practice this promise has often mainly
served to benefit the industrialized worlds (Pippa, p6). The internet was originally an English
text medium and although it is now graphic it is fair to say that it is still very much a text based,
therefore users also must be literate. If basic literacy is a barrier to access most of the world poor
could be excluded from the information revolution even if computing equipment became more
widely available (Pippa, p59). One fifth of the world s population remains illiterate and the total
rises to 40 percent or more of those living in Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Southern Asia
(Pippa, p59). Not only must an internet user be literate but since most of the language on the

Deere Company has a high expectation of the increase in profit in the future with several
perspectives. First, they expect the increases in demand for the agricultural industry because of the
increase of total population around the world, especially in the Asian and Africa regions. Thus, they
expanded the plants in China, India, and Latin America, where the middle class population is
getting larger. Second, they expect the increases of urbanization in the developing countries, where
to require the development of infrastructures in those countries. The population in the urban area is
expected to increase from 50 percent in 2014 to 70 percent at the end of 2050. (Gamble, Peteraf,
Thompson, 2015, p. 367). However, it has been just a forecast. In fact, the unexpected situation
occurred. The declines of agricultural industry demand in 2015. The net farm industry income
declined to $73.6 billion, which is about 32 percent declines in 2015. It has been the lowest number
since 2009. (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 2015). Their sales had declined as well as their stock

Sales invoices are prepared in batches on a daily basis using numbered sales invoices. Sales invoice
numbers are automatically generated by the company s computer system. The accounts receivable
clerk does not have appropriate computer rights to override the computer generated invoice
number. Upon preparing sales invoices, the accounts receivable clerk verifies that the first invoice
number of the batch is consistent with the last invoice number of the previous batch.
Inconsistencies or skipped sales invoice numbers are investigated and resolved before new sales

Democracy In America Analysis
Democracy in America, by Alexis de Tocqueville includes Tocqueville s observations on what
American society and culture was like during the 1830 s. Throughout his analysis of America,
he draws many outlandish and interesting conclusions regarding what life was like during this
time period. For example, in Chapter 18, Tocqueville remarks that citizens in democratic
societies are independent, which makes them weak and subsequently uninfluential in society.
He goes on to say that in order to combat this, associations must be established to combat
individualism and to circulate new thoughts and ideas. All in all, Tocqueville s claim is certainly
valid, but only up to a certain point because there were a select few of individuals that were able
to make an influence on society without the help from any associations. Generally speaking,
Tocqueville s claim is completely valid for the average citizen of America. The average citizen in
America during this time period was certainly weak in the aspect that their voice didn t hold
much power. Therefore, according to Tocqueville, the only way to gain power was to join an
association because there was a power in numbers. Essentially, thousands of voices saying the same
thing was significantly more powerful than just one voice saying something. A prime example of
this is seen in a dueling poster as Tharp pronounces Smith as a scoundrel, rascal, coward,
(Becoming America 283). Tharp makes this public because the more people that

The problem is the need for technological resources that promote parental involvement for
improving the educational development of special education students. The specific problem is
identifying the technology that most effectively increases parental involvement in special
education. This study will use a qualitative method and case study similar to Hartas (2008) study of
the effects of parental involvement on students with Autism. Parents will participate in semi
structured interviews, questionnaires, and classroom observations to determine what motivates
them to be involved. The results should interest special education teachers who require assistance
from parents in order for students to attend school daily, participate in instruction, and continue to
exhibit progression in all areas of development. Revised Purpose Statement Qualitative Study The
purpose of this qualitative case study is to identify the technological resources that are most
effective in encouraging parents of special education students to be involved in the student s
education. The data collection design will include questionnaires, observations, schedule
restructuring, community involvement, and semi structured interviews to identify the areas of
improvement. The population will be composed of parents who have elementary aged special needs

Fiscal and Monetary Policies

Dr. John Theodore
Economies everywhere in the world have fluctuations, there Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is
either growing (economic boom) or it is not producing enough and falls into a recession. In a
recession, an economy s GDP suffers two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Personal
consumption, government spending and the amount a country imports and exports measure GDP
(Amadeo, nd) while Rittenberg and Tregarthen state that personal consumption (C), gross private
domestic investment (I), government purchases (G) and net exports (Xn) make up GDP (2009).

However, government purchases will lead to a greater impact on the aggregate demand curve than
a change in income taxes or transfers (Rittenberg and Tregarthen, 2009), The basic objectives of
monetary policy is to help promote national economic goals of economic growth, full
employment, and price stability by influencing interest rates, the supply of money and credit
(Rittenberg and Tregarthen, 2009). Monetary policy has a cause effect chain that can help expand
money supplies by lowering interest rates to motivate consumers to borrow money (Rittenberg
amp; Tregarthen, 2009). The extra money in the economy increases jobs. To help with monetary
policy, the US government created the Federal Reserve (or the Fed). The Fed can raise or lower
interest rates to help stimulate employment and help stabilize price (Rittenberg amp; Tregarthen,
2009). The Fed has three policy tools; setting the reserve requirement for banks (usually 10%),
operating the discount window (where private banks can borrow money from the government to
increase their reserves or reduce their liabilities), and conduct open market operations (where the
Feds buy bonds to create new reserves) (Rittenberg amp; Tregarthen, 2009). According to
Rittenberg and Tregarthen, these purchases of bonds could possibly increase the money supply
(2009). When private banks have extra reserves, they earn

Why Migraines Strike Summary
Why Migraines Strike
Summary:
The article begins by explaining the importance of migraines and how often they occur. The
article says that there are more than 300 million people who suffer from their migraines, and
they deal with all the symptoms of migraines like excruciating and pulsating pain in the head.
Interestingly migraines have been around for around 7000 years, but it is only been in recent
history that they have been recognized as a legit illness. However, even though it is now
recognized as a serious ailment not much is known of what cause them. Research into migraines
is not an easy task. First off, people who experience them in different ways. Some people have
migraines daily others maybe once a month, which creates a wide range to work in. On top of this,
they seem to be brought on by countless activities like dehydration, alcohol, physical exertion,
allergies, and sleep deprivation among others. However, most interesting is that women between
15 55 make up 2/3 of those affected by migraines. Which is a very large amount of total sufferers....

This began in Greece when Galen said that vapors from the liver going to the head caused them.
However, later on Harold Wolff decided that they come from stretching and dilating blood vessels
in the brain. This lead people to believe that a decrease in blood causes the migraine, but it was later
observed that an increase in blood is what causes the pain. However, blood flow is not increased
during the headache, rather the circulation remains normal or in some cases is reduced. These
findings have lead people to assume that the main culprit may be a nervous system disorder. Sadly,
this disorder occurs in one of the most primitive and required parts of the nervous system, the brain

Ghosts Are The Spirits Of The Dead
Specter, spirit, banshee, poltergeist, apparition, phantom, or spook, call them what you wish, but
the general most common term for these creatures are ghosts. The word ghost has many
connotations connected to it in the American culture. One could mean the scary or friendly
fictional ghosts of Halloween or one could mean the more serious and controversial creature, the
spirit of a dead person stuck in between earth and the afterlife. Even if one doesn t believe in
them, one is very likely to encounter one in the American culture, whether it is through knowing
people who believe they have encountered ghosts, or through media such as movies or books.
Ghosts have been entangled in our history and culture. There are so many different definitions and
views on these creatures. Thus the issue of the cultural importance of ghosts in America is
unresolved because of entertainment views, scientific evidence or lack of, and religious views.
From a traditional stand point, ghosts are the spirits of the dead. Stephen Wagner from About.com
claims that ghosts are a common part of the human experience. In his article, Ghosts: What Are
They? , Wagner categorizes the common views of ghosts. The first is that they are the spirits of
dead people that for some reason are stuck between this world and the next, usually due to the
result of a tragedy or trauma (Wagner 1). Another type of ghostis what Wagner labels residual
hauntings or recordings, ghosts that appear to be mere recordings on

Paganism In Beowulf
В¬By definition, a Pagan is a person who has religious beliefs other than those of the main world
religion. The epic poem Beowulf was passed down verbally from generation to generation with
enlightening Pagan teachings and elements. Christian elements were not included in the poem until
a Christian monk added them when it was put as written text. However, the Christian aspects
collide with the Pagan elements found in the poem. Beowulfwas originally told with only Pagan
elements. In the article The Essential Pagan Elements in Beowulf , it explains Pagan elements
included in the story such as dragons and magic. We do not hear anything about saints, angels, or
any particular dogmatic points (Moorman). In the Pagan religionwhen a hero or important... Show

Things such as magic, unnatural creatures, and strange scenarios play a huge role in their faith.
However, Christians believe that things such as dragons, witches, magic and the dark arts are of
Satan. While the Pagans view the dragon as a fire breathing, greedy creature keeping treasure in
its lair, the Christians view it as the devil making the setting of hell. The equivalent of Beowulf
in the Christian faith would be Jesus Christ. He came into the world (lair) and freed us from sins
(hell). Pagans view Beowulf as having superhuman powers that let him overcome any trial he
may face. For example of Beowulf s strength, he lifted the giant s magical sword when nobody
else could. His strength is matched by Christian faith with the story of Jesus was resurrected and
came out from the tomb he was buried in. Beowulf fought for peace in the land of Geatland and
Danes. Christ made peace with everyone. They both share qualities of the desire for peace. The
biggest comparison between Beowulf and Jesus Christ is when they both died to save other
people. According to Christian belief, Christ was crucified to save everyone from death.
Beowulf was killed by the dragon in order to save someone else and to calm his soul from the
loss of his village. Christ also found his true followers when he was carrying the cross and they
came to help him. Just like in Beowulf how Wiglaf is Beowulf s companion because he fights by
his side through thick and thin.

The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Carbon Dioxide...
The purpose of the experiment is to test the effect of five different temperatures on the rate of
carbon dioxide production in yeast. So, to test this method five fermentation tubes were filled with
glucose and yeast mixture, after that they were placed in water to see which one yielded the most
carbon dioxide. The results that were produced concluded that yeastcan produce carbon dioxide
more efficiently with a temperate of approximately 45 degrees Celsius. The carbon dioxide
production was tracked in the fermentation of yeast. Carbon dioxide production was also different
in different temperatures.
1.Introduction
Temperature changes have a great and intense effect on living things. It s indicated through research
that yeast makes more carbon dioxide when in higher temperature rather than the lower
temperature. Although, it makes more carbon dioxide in high temperature it is possible that the
temperature would be so hot that it will end up destroying the yeast cells which will cause it to
have less carbon dioxide. The reason for this is because of the rate of chemical reactions increasing
along with increasing temperature.
When one refers to the temperature of a system, it is described as the measure of the average
kinetic energy of the particles in a sample of matter. Increases in the temperature of a system results
from increases in the kinetic energy of the system. The higher the temperature, the more energy
atoms have, causing them to move more rapidly. In the same

Single Gene Disorder
When a certain gene is known to cause a disease, it is referred as a single gene disorder or a
Mendelian disorder. These disorders involve mutations in the DNA sequences of single genes.
As a result, the protein the gene codes for is either altered or missing (Landsverk, 2013). Few
examples of single gene disorders includes cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, Fragile X
syndrome, muscular dystrophy, or Huntington disease. As a rule, single gene disorders are not
very common. For example, only one in 2,500 people are born with cystic fibrosis. There are a
number of inheritance patterns of single gene disorders that are predictable when you know what
they are. There are three main transmission patterns: autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and
X linked or sex linked recessive (Mahdieh, 2013).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LSDs result from incompletely digested macromolecules due to loss of enzyme function
(Filocamo, 2013). These enzymes normally break down items for reuse in the cells. If the
enzymes are missing or don t work properly, then the items can build up and become toxic. This
happens in an area of the cell called lysosomes. To date, 51 genetically determined lysosomal
storage diseases have been described. Since there can be different mutations of the same gene, they
result in different clinical manifestations and are classified as infantile and adult types. The
acquired disorders are the result of inhibition of О± mannosidase II by ingestion of plant materials
of Astragalus lentginous, Oxiftropis serica, Swainsona canescens, and Ipomoea carena as well as
treatment with certain drugs, such as amphophilic cationic drugs, amiodarone and chloroquine,
which induce phospholipidosis and MPS. There are 9 different inherited and 2 acquired

  • 2. Virtue Theory And Abortion By Rosalind Hursthouse PHI 107 Essay Assignment 11/24/15 Katelalyn Miller Virtue Theory is one of many different moral theories that exist today. It is based off of Aristotle s Virtue Ethics which focuses on having an ideal character. The main focus of Virtue Theory is the role of one s character, which is closely related to its roots in Aristotle. A Virtue Theorist would do things because it is who they themselves are, not because it is good to do them or because they will get something good from doing them. In the article, Virtue Theory and Abortion , by Rosalind Hursthouse, she explains her view on abortion without trying to solve the issue of if it is right or wrong. She, with the use of Virtue Theory, simply says that an action is right only if a virtuous agent would do it were they in the same circumstances. She goes on explaining how a Virtue Theorist needs to apply if actions are honest/dishonest and charitable/uncharitable; without doing this then Virtue Theory would be of no use with real moral issues because of a lack of argument. Hursthouse says that there are two main things taken into consideration when speaking of the morality of abortion. The first thing is the status of the fetus, meaning whether or not it is a conscious being and if it may or may not be killed. The second thing is women s rights, if a woman has the right to choose what is best for her own body and mind over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Factors Of The French Resistance In World War II The French Resistance The French Resistance was a collection of resistance groups that fought against Nazi Germany and its puppet state of Vichy France. They were mainly comprised of men and women who fought the Nazis through sabotage, ambushes, and hit and run tactics; disrupting power grids, transport lines, and telecommunications. In addition to guerilla warfare, they also published underground newspapers, collected intelligence, and helped Allied soldiers trapped behind enemy lines to escape. Furthermore, they also played a large role in Operation Overlord (invasion of northern France) and Operation Dragoon (invasion of southern France) by providing the Allies with locations of Nazi fortifications and defenses. The French Resistance was extremely crucial to winning World War II and saving the lives of Allied soldiers. The surrender of France to the Nazis in June of 1940 was a major blow to French nationalism. Many believed the government had let the people down by fleeing Paris and through the creation of Vichy France, a French puppet government supported by the Nazis. The assurance by the French government that the Maginot Line was more than strong enough to resist a Nazi attack was of course, proved false. The Maginot Line also had a glaring weakness: there were very little fortifications bordering Belgium. France did not want to offend its ally, so the Maginot Line stopped at the Ardennes Forest, which was considered impenetrable. However, the Nazis bombed French ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Quinceanera Reaction Paper As she gracefully walked down the aisle dressed in a gold tulle ball gown, her mother shed tears of joy and her father beamed. This was their baby all grown up. September 24, 2016 was the day Sophia Brooke Kahl transitioned from a girl to a young woman; it was her QuinceaГ±era. Similar to a Sweet 16 party in American culture, a QuinceaГ±era is a Latin American celebration of a girls fifteenth birthday and her transition into womanhood. During the course of the day, the Quinceanera (Birthday Girl) renews her baptismal promises in front of her familyand community, and attends a large party in her honor. A white chair was pulled out into the middle of the dance floor, and everyone gathered around her as Sophia and her father performed the traditional Shoe Ceremony. The Shoe Ceremony consists of the Quinceanera s father taking off her flat shoes and replacing them with high heels. The heels signify her growing up from a child; from needing help to walk to being able to stand on her own as a young woman. Sophia s father proceeded to remove her black, Converse tennis shoes and replace them with 3 high heels, bedazzled with rhinestones. She then walked into her father s open arms, and shared her first dance as a young woman with him. In doing so, Sophia signified that the most important man in her life, other than God, was always going to be her father. As a part of this first dance, both of her Grandfathers took a turn dancing with her, where they expressed their love for the newest young woman in their family. Watching them dance was my favorite part of the entire evening. It reminded me of dancing with my own great grandfather (now deceased) at my uncle s wedding. It was beautiful seeing how proud her grandfathers were of Sophia and admiring the person she had become. She was no longer just a little girl; she was a young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay about Maytag s Marketing Strategy Plan Maytag s Marketing Strategy Plan If asked what you know about Maytag s marketing program, the first thing to come to mind would probably be its lonely repairman ad campaigns. For 35 years, those ads have helped position Maytag as a reliable brand for major appliances. Gordon Jump, an actor who really was a former Maytag repairman, played the lonely repairman role in ads for 14 years. In 2004, another veteran character actor, Hardy Rawls, took on that job. Although Maytag s basic positioning has been consistent over many years, marketing managers at Maytag are constantly developing new marketing strategies. It tested well on cleaning, but Maytag thought it fell short in improving other customer benefits. GE was further behind in working on a front loaders. But these were strong competitors, so if Maytag didn t move quickly they wouldn t get a lead. Maytag formed a cross functional new product development team to quickly focus the effort. It screened various product ideas and strategies on criteria such as potential for superior customer value, initial costs, long term growth, social responsibility, and profitability. Using nearly 40 pieces of consumer research, the team refined what the strategy might be and what it would cost. Marketers today have better marketing metrics for measuring the performance of marketing plans. They can use four tools to check on plan performance: sales analysis, market share analysis, marketing expense to sales analyss, and financial analysis. Sales analysis consists of measuring and evaluating actual sales in relation to goals. Market share can be measured in three ways. Overal market share is the company s sales expressed as a percentage of total market sales. Served market share is its sales expressed as a percentage of the total sales to its served market. Its served market is all the buyers who are able and willing to buy its product. And relative market share can be expressed as market share in relation to its largest competitor. • 6. Keanu Reeves Research Paper According to Mahatma Gandhi, Be the change you want to see in the world. Keanu Reeves is one of the best well known actors, producers, and musicians in the United State. Reeves has been playing the role of a hero, for he shares his wealth, time, and love with the world. Moreover, Reeves demonstrates that he is a great man for making positive changes in other people s life. For me, Reeves is an incomparable person whom I admire because he is a generous person and a role model: and, he is a sturdy person. When I first saw Reeves in the Matrix movies, I regarded him as an ordinary or typical actor. Although he did not have a father in his life while growing up, he turns out to be a father and provider for children who are in needs and fatherless. Reeves demonstrates he is strong minded by moving forward throughout the challenges and barriers he had to overcome. For example, he chose to make a different path in life after witnessing his best friend die of an overdose. He also overcame depression, even though death follows him like paparazzi in Hollywood. Reeves sister was killed by leukemia; therefore, he funds millions of dollars to charities and hospital to help those who are diagnosed with the disease. Regardless of the Reeves loss of his first born child and lover in a car accident, he chose to love again and helps making other children s life better. In brief, I admire the Reeves role as a provider and giver to those in needs despite his own life tragedies. On the whole, I have many reasons for acknowledging Reeves as one of my most admire artists. When I describe him as generous, model, and sturdy, I feel good because those words also resemble me. He has motivated me, and others alike, to make positive change. Reeves moves me by playing the role I dream of becoming. • 7. How Has Life Changed Since 1800 Essay How has life changed since 1800? Life as we know it today in the modern world, is significantly different to the lives that our predecessors lived during the period 1500 1800. The changes across the centuries are the result of a process of advancements over time. This essay will examine life in the period 1500 1800 as highlighted in the work of George Blainey (2000) and will compare key differences of life in this early period, against life in the modern world today. Throughout this essay, the main focus will be based on three areas which have seen significant change over this period of time: the production of food, work practices and the standard of living. While these workers could be sure of not going hungry, this meant the take home wages were low. Living standards as described by Blainey (2000) were bleak. Most people lived in one roomed, small stone houses, often with four or more sharing one bed. Homes often remained unheated due to scarcity of wood (Blainey 2000, p. 423). People were largely uneducated and knew little about healthcare. Sewerage was disposed of in the same rivers that were used to drink and wash from. These contaminated rivers were used to supply water to the growing crops. This had a huge impact on health, causing infection in around two out of every three people in rural areas (Blainey 2000, p. 415). Lack of hygiene and knowledge of healthcare led to shorter lifespans. Life today in 2014 is vastly different to the period 1500 1800 as described by Blainey (2000). Survival no longer hinges on hunting and gathering food. In fact many people today give little or no thought to food production. Instead, we drive to a supermarket and buy whatever we want to eat. We have access to many restaurants and fast foodoutlets, so we not only have ample food at our fingertips, we don t even have to prepare it if we choose not to. Advancements in production and using machines in place of humans (Henslin, Possamai and Possamai Inesedy 2011, p. 139) mean food is now farmed and produced on a much larger scale (Macionis and ... The V2 rocket was a new sort of weapon: it combined the elegance of rocket science into the brutality of war, with it enabling Nazi Germany to claim thousands of lives. The man responsible for designing such a perversion of humanambition, Werner Von Braun, would later become indispensable to the United States mission to put a man on the moon. As John Steinbeck wrote in The Grapes of Wrath, when mankind takes a step forward, he may slip back, but only half a step, never the full step back, and likewise society must ensure that when an atrocity comes, it does not embrace the atrocity but uses it to improve the world and learn from it (Steinbeck 150). To ensure that society begins to learn from its misdeeds, it must first understand that it has benefitted from atrocious acts. It is essential to understand that atrocities must be prevented whenever possible and acknowledged as wrong before improvements can be made. In An Essay on Man, Pope describes many complexities of mankind, which range from man s identity, to his relationship with God. In Frankenstein, Shelley depicts the story of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist who creates a living being, and he later suffers negative consequences as a result of his actions. Alexander Pope s An Essay on Man, contains similar themes to Mary Shelley s Frankensteinbecause he raises questions about self identification, the influence of scientific knowledge on an individual, and how the desire to act like God can be dangerous; with this connection between the two texts, Frankenstein s downfall, as a result... This quote highlights the ability that scientific knowledge has to inspire an individual. The phrase Go wondrous creature connotes a glorifying identity for those who choose to accept and participate in the inspirational world of science. However, if the knowledge is pursued to an extreme, it can begin to have disastrous. results. In Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein s work exhibits the theme of the negative influence that scientific knowledge can have, because while reflecting on the process of constructing the Creature, Frankenstein states: I seemed to have lost all soul or sensation but for this one pursuit (36). As his obsession with his pursuit advances, he describes: Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree (38). These quotes function primarily to demonstrate that Frankenstein chooses to embrace scientific knowledge, but he becomes so consumed by it, that the desire for pivotal scientific development possesses him to a most painful degree. As a result, Frankenstein becomes a slave to his work, and it has an extremely harmful impact on his mental and physical well being. Then I saw what was beneath the title which said, On the bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama, 1963. I now know that the poem is going to be about a bombing, something I know but the characters don t. That sentence also tells me it takes place in 1963 which is around the time of the civil rights movement. The poem is about a girl who wants to go downtown and march for freedom but his mother would not let her because she fears her daughter will get hurt. The mother sends the girl to church thinking she will be safe there. Then the church is bombed and the girl was one of the victims In this poem the poet and speaker are two totally people. The poet is Dudley Randall and the speaker is a spectator. I can tell that the speaker is a speaker because he/she is telling a story for example, She clawed trough bits of glass and brick. This shows us that the speaker is a spectator since he/she is telling us what is happening as if he/she were there. In this poem there is a lot of figurative language. One of the biggest types of figurative language used in this poem is irony. The irony in this poem is how the mother wouldn t let her child go to march because she feared her child would get hurt. Instead she sent her child to church because she believed it was a safe and sacred place but ironically the church ended up being bombed. Another piece of figurative language that is very effective in this poem is imagery. The way the poem is written helps me create images in my head for example, She raced through the streets of Birmingham. I can imagine her running around desperately, looking for her child. The metaphors and hyperboles in this poem also help with the imagery, for example, ...night dark hair, and ...rose petal sweet. These metaphors make me think of the girls smoothly combed black hair and her fresh and beautiful rosy smell. A hyperbole that had a huge effect on the tone was, But that smile was the last smile to ever come upon her face. This hyperbole really helps me understand the effect of a tragic moment like this and how it can completely ruin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. An Analysis Of Ben Jonson s The Lyric In 1616, Ben Jonson published the lyric Still to Be Neat, which was responded to in 1648 with Delight in Disorder, a lyric by Robert Herrick (Kornman, 1)(Adams, 1). Both poems are iambic tetrameter and include a plethora of similarities. These similarities, including rhyme and diction, are used to emphasize the theme, which I believe to be naturalness, of both poems (Reviewing, 1). The message of each poem, although presented through different tones, is that the imperfections of a woman s natural beauty are admirable to not only the eyes, but also the heart of a man. While the poems use diction to accentuate the common theme and display similar rhyme schemes that represent the point of view in the poems, there is a difference within these similarities, the contrasting tones, which aid in getting the message across to the reader. Notably, the use of diction in each poem is used to emphasize the theme and aid to the tone of each speaker. For starters, the speakers in each poem are men that prefer a woman in sweet disorder ( Delight 1) with hair as free ( Still 9), rather than a woman still perfumed ( Still 3) and too precise in every part ( Delight 14). In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, much poetry incorporated the idea of disorder in women and specifically, Jonson notes that there s something peculiar about a woman who is always neatly dressed; what is she hiding (Adams, 1). In these few examples, the diction is geared towards representing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Texting While Driving And Driving No matter how much effort state governments try to make to avoid people texting while driving, only so much can be done on the government s and law enforcement s side of the matter. Different states have different rules. Some outlaw texting while driving when under the age of 21 or 18. Other states have hand held bans on cell phones while some states have an all phone ban. Law enforcement officers who regulate and enforce traffic matters have to catch the person in the act of texting while driving. Catching a person in the act is not an easy task to accomplish as an officer of the law. Even a consistent and national law against texting while driving would plausibly not solve the calamities. I think the true issue of driving and texting is contingent with the drivers. Drivers should take heed to statistics, priorities, and lives involved regarding the issue of texting and driving. Many statistics can prove how texting while driving is a serious problem, and a majority of the drivers do not realize the risks. Other drivers know the dangers and risks of texting while driving, but do not have the appearance of caring. Although the amount of casualties resulting from texting while driving has decreased considerably, there is still a shocking number of deaths and casualties from this issue. The number of casualties and deaths from texting while driving have surpassed the number of drunk driving incidents. Drunk driving deaths a year amount to about 2,700 lives while driving and ... After the changes in the healthcare system, the field has included pharmaceutical care in its mission. As described in Communications Skills for Pharmacist book, pharmaceutical care requires the pharmacistto take responsibility for preventing and solving drug related problems and optimizing drug therapy (p.1, CP). On the other hand it is stagnant because the mission is not being fulfilled. The traditional way of practicing, which is dispensing drugs only, still persists. The pharmacy is being practiced in an unethical way as the patient is told to sign the paper, without being informed what rights the patient is losing. Presently, there is a need of pharmacists in the healthcare system, since they have the knowledge of drug interaction. But there might be a reduction in need because the healthcare wants something more than just dispensing medications. The need for pharmacist will only be understood, when the people know what to expect from pharmacists. If the patients understand that the pharmacist can provide them counseling, then they will approach the pharmacist. To best understand cyber hacking, it is necessary to first define cybercrime. Basically, the word cybercrime is a media invention, just as cyberspace (Jewkes, 2010). Cyberspace is deemed to be the imaginary space on the internet. Consequently, the crimes committed within this cyberspace are called cybercrimes (Yip, 2010: 21). These people may come from many different agencies that do not normally work together, and an incident command system is intended to give regular response and operation procedures to decrease the troubles and possibility for miscommunication on such incidents. ICS has been summed up as a first on scene structure, where the first responder is in charge until the situation has been cleared up, a more experienced responder reaches your ... For applications requiring negative input, the LM79XX series is used. Using a pair of voltage divider resistors can increase the output voltage of a regulator circuit. 5Ultrasonic sensor: Ultrasonic sensors emit short, high frequency sound pulses at regular intervals. These propagate in the air at the velocity of sound. If they strike an object, then they are reflected back as echo signals to the sensor, which itself computes the distance to the target based on the time span between emitting the signal and receiving the echo. As the distance to an object is determined by measuring the time of flight and not by the intensity of the sound, ultrasonic sensors are excellent at suppressing background interference. Essay about The Social Security Program Introduction Social Security provides for the needs of a country s citizens when they are no longer able to provide for themselves through gainful employment, is an issue that evokes multiple viewpoints. Before laying the framework of the argument for meaningful change to social security program, the program itself must be defined. The Social Security Program is based on the premise during your productive working years you pay a percentage of your income as a tax into the social security system, at some point in the future either by retirement or disability you or your beneficiaries (dependents, children, or survivors) receive monthly benefits; based on your reported earnings (United States Government, 2014). The report further states that a reduction in benefits for future generations, not past or current generations must also come into effect (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The report however highlights that an optional additional level of pay in should be created, allowing persons of future generations who would like to maintain the current benefit level to do so (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The final step to making social security structurally viable is the restructuring of its debt; to past generations by allocating 2% of current payments towards it exclusively (Gokhale, 2013). With these changes past, current, and future generations can continue to benefit from social security, while the program stay s true to its core values of providing persons with the minimum level of income, when they are no longer capable of working due to their age. The final structural change that will improve the viability of social security is raising the age requirement to receive the full benefits of social security. Isis stands for Islamic state in Iraqand Syria. Members of Isis were first a part of al Qaeda, then in 2013 became its own group. This paper will answer: How was Isis formed, and why is it the way it is today? Under its former name Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis), it was formed in April 2013, growing out of al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). The organization is led by Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. Little is known about him, but it is believed he was born in Samarra, north of Baghdad, in 1971 and joined the insurgency that erupted in Iraq soon after the 2003 US led invasion. In 2010 he emerged as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, one of the groups that later became Isis. Baghdadi is regarded as a battlefield commander and tactician, which analysts say makes his group more attractive to young jihadists than al Qaeda, which is led by Ayman al Zawahiri, an Islamic theologian. IS claims to have fighters from the UK, France, Germany and other European countries, as well as the US, the Arab world and the Caucasus (The Islamic State militant group). • 38. An Interesting Software Design Technique 3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts, emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts, like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and using the same common, ubiquitous language. Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application (which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application at hand can probably be a better approach. A framework for the data collection and its analysis has been recognised in order to answer the research questions, as well as to achieve the targeted objectives by validating certain methods of sourcing, collecting and analysing the data (Saunders Thornhill, 2012). The study on the basis of the literature has shown that the research goals would be achieved more efficiently with the quantitative method. Whereas, the literature reviewed has revealed an objective need for numeric data that is necessary in a greater extent due to its absence, rather than non numeric data. The quantitative method allows to assess the influence of the identified factors by the end user, which haspermitted to build a consumer behaviour model. Ultimately, the variables were identified on the basis of the literature studied. 3.2 Research philosophy and approach The aims and objectives were fulfilled in order to develop a research philosophy. If developing countries lack traditional media and information communication technologies then it s quite a reality that the internet will just be another piece of technology that creates a bigger gap between the information haves and have nots. Throughout his analysis of America, he draws many outlandish and interesting conclusions regarding what life was like during this time period. For example, in Chapter 18, Tocqueville remarks that citizens in democratic societies are independent, which makes them weak and subsequently uninfluential in society. He goes on to say that in order to combat this, associations must be established to combat individualism and to circulate new thoughts and ideas. All in all, Tocqueville s claim is certainly valid, but only up to a certain point because there were a select few of individuals that were able to make an influence on society without the help from any associations. Generally speaking, Tocqueville s claim is completely valid for the average citizen of America. The average citizen in America during this time period was certainly weak in the aspect that their voice didn t hold much power. Therefore, according to Tocqueville, the only way to gain power was to join an association because there was a power in numbers. Essentially, thousands of voices saying the same thing was significantly more powerful than just one voice saying something. Monetary policy has a cause effect chain that can help expand money supplies by lowering interest rates to motivate consumers to borrow money (Rittenberg amp; Tregarthen, 2009). Christ made peace with everyone. They both share qualities of the desire for peace. The biggest comparison between Beowulf and Jesus Christ is when they both died to save other people. According to Christian belief, Christ was crucified to save everyone from death. Beowulf was killed by the dragon in order to save someone else and to calm his soul from the loss of his village. Christ also found his true followers when he was carrying the cross and they came to help him. Just like in Beowulf how Wiglaf is Beowulf s companion because he fights by his side through thick and thin. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Carbon Dioxide... The purpose of the experiment is to test the effect of five different temperatures on the rate of carbon dioxide production in yeast. So, to test this method five fermentation tubes were filled with glucose and yeast mixture, after that they were placed in water to see which one yielded the most carbon dioxide. The results that were produced concluded that yeastcan produce carbon dioxide more efficiently with a temperate of approximately 45 degrees Celsius. The carbon dioxide production was tracked in the fermentation of yeast. Carbon dioxide production was also different in different temperatures. 1.Introduction Temperature changes have a great and intense effect on living things. It s indicated through research that yeast makes more carbon dioxide when in higher temperature rather than the lower temperature. Although, it makes more carbon dioxide in high temperature it is possible that the temperature would be so hot that it will end up destroying the yeast cells which will cause it to have less carbon dioxide. The reason for this is because of the rate of chemical reactions increasing along with increasing temperature. When one refers to the temperature of a system, it is described as the measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in a sample of matter. Increases in the temperature of a system results from increases in the kinetic energy of the system. The higher the temperature, the more energy atoms have, causing them to move more rapidly. • 53. Single Gene Disorder When a certain gene is known to cause a disease, it is referred as a single gene disorder or a Mendelian disorder. These disorders involve mutations in the DNA sequences of single genes. As a result, the protein the gene codes for is either altered or missing (Landsverk, 2013). Few examples of single gene disorders includes cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, Fragile X syndrome, muscular dystrophy, or Huntington disease. As a rule, single gene disorders are not very common. For example, only one in 2,500 people are born with cystic fibrosis. There are a number of inheritance patterns of single gene disorders that are predictable when you know what they are. There are three main transmission patterns: autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and X linked or sex linked recessive (Mahdieh, 2013).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LSDs result from incompletely digested macromolecules due to loss of enzyme function (Filocamo, 2013). These enzymes normally break down items for reuse in the cells. If the enzymes are missing or don t work properly, then the items can build up and become toxic. This happens in an area of the cell called lysosomes. To date, 51 genetically determined lysosomal storage diseases have been described. Since there can be different mutations of the same gene, they result in different clinical manifestations and are classified as infantile and adult types. The acquired disorders are the result of inhibition of О± mannosidase II by ingestion of plant materials of Astragalus lentginous, Oxiftropis serica, Swainsona canescens, and Ipomoea carena as well as treatment with certain drugs, such as amphophilic cationic drugs, amiodarone and chloroquine, which induce phospholipidosis and MPS. There are 9 different inherited and 2 acquired mechanisms that are known to cause lysosomal storage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
