The Phonyboy Is A Hero In The Outsiders
THE OUTSIDERS ESSAY
A hero is someone that is not selfish, cares for others besides himself, and does things that are really
brave. A hero is a person who is admired and idealized for courage. A hero would be someone that
fights for a cause. Heroes are people who rescue others, or people that do something that is really
brave. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are heroes in the book The Outsiders. There are many reasons why
Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are heroes.
Ponyboy is a hero because he went into a burning church and saved the children that were in the the
church. Ponyboy is also a hero is because he is a survivor. Ponyboy is a hero because he is not afraid
to step up. Ch.8 says a quote from johnny and it says I would, I would help her and Randy both if I
could. Hey, I said suddenly, can you see the sunset real good from the West Side? That meant that
Ponyboy has the desire to help people in problems which makes him a hero. Another quote was in ch
4 which meant that ponyboy isn t afraid of anything and it says You know what a Soc is? I said, my
voice trembling with rage. White trash with Mustangs and madras. And then, because I couldn t think
of anything bad enough to call them, I spit at them. Heroes are people who rescue others or people that
do something that is really brave. Ponyboy did that, so he is a hero in that way.
Johnny Cade is hero because he was one of the Greasers that were saving the children in burning
church without thinking. Johnny is a hero

Conservative Opinion On Immigration
Next I will talk about the Issue of Immigration from the conservative standpoint. Conservatives
opinion on immigration is very clear. According to Student New Daily, conservatives, Support legal
immigration only. Oppose amnesty for those who enter the U.S. illegally ( Conservative Vs Liberal ,
paragraph 12). This means that conservatives want immigrants to be a part of our great country, but do
not want people who came here illegally to get citizenship. One big point is that Conservative think
the borders should be secure before dealing with illegal immigrants. Presidential Candidate Donald J

Conformity In Stargirl
Stargirl Essay
Conformity is when a person changes him or herself to fit into a group. In order for someone to do
this, he or she usually has to give up one of their personal qualities. It is highly argued over whether
this is a good or a bad thing. One such book called Stargirl, demonstrates both the negative, and
positive side of conformity. In the novel, author Jerry Spinelli suggests that conformity isn t
necessarily a bad thing, many just use it to become a leader. When someone has conformed to fit into
a group they might not realize what they did. Some people conform subconsciously to a person. They
follow without knowing it. In the novel Stargirl, a boy named Wayne Parr was the leader of Mica High
School. The thing is, the students

Janis Joplin s Influence On Rock Music
When we think of rock music, we typically think of musicians like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi
Hendrix, and similar artists. There s no problem with that. They all influenced this genre alot and
inspired many other artists, but sadly, we never think of the many women that shaped this music
scene. Women like Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, Karen Carpenter, and many others. So, who were these
musicians and how did they influence the genre? To start, Janis Joplin was one of the biggest rock
stars of her time, along with musicians like The Velvet Underground and The Who. She was born on
January 19, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas and had an early love of music, especially the blues. Some of
her main influences were Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Leadbelly.

Each set of conducts will adhere to standards of behavior in which the employer, other professional
relationships, and employees will follow towards the public that it serves (Bardetti Moriarty2009). A
professional code of conduct is essential for all heath care workers because of the depth of inside
access and protected medical and financial information that health care workers are privy. Therefore,
all healthcare workers are supposed to uphold the code of conduct or ethics which brings integrity to
the field of health care. This paper is going to focus on the code of ethics for a long term care facility
organization including those in management, support, and professional roles. Nearly all health care
organizations will have a similar type of code of conduct, but there will be slight differences due to the
type of health care facility. A long term care facility or (LTC) is a type of facility that caters to the
medical and non medical needs of patients with disability or chronic type of diseases. A long term care
facility may also be a service that takes care of elderly patients who are unable to take care of
themselves and needs the full time specialized care from professionals. A long term care facility does
more to its clients and patients more than other specialties. For instance, in long term care facilities,
providers assist customers with daily living tasks like dressing, bathing and sometimes

How Did The Black Panther Party Affect The Civil Rights...
The Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, California in 1966 by Huey P. Newton and Bobby
Seale. Originally intended to be a patrol force against police brutality in black communities, the Black
Panther Party came to play an important role in the later years of the civil rights movement. This was
due in large part to its Ten Point Program, which resulted in the implementation of many social
programs, including the Free Breakfast for School Children in 1969. The social programs carried out
by the Black Panther Party inspired change during the civil rights movement. The party succeeded in
achieving certain goals from their Ten Point Program, and while the Black Panther Party was
eventually disbanded in 1982, it still played a significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newton and Seale recruited men from local communities to take part in police patrols. While the
patrol squads were successful in reducing the instances of police brutality against black people, it also
sparked intensified instances of police harassment against Black Panther Party members (Harris 167).
The Black Panther Party would later gain wide recognition after their protest at the California State
Capitol where Bobby Seale read the Executive Mandate Number One in 1967 (Seale 348). After
Eldridge Cleaver joined the party, he suggested they change the group s name from the Black Panther
Party for Self Defense to the Black Panther Party. Cleaver believed it was time for the party to lessen
its emphasis on self defense against police, or rather, to increase its emphasis on the other points of the
program (Harris 167). One of the most notable achievements of the Black Panther Party was their Free
Breakfast for School Children program, started in San Francisco and Oakland, California in January of
1969 (Harris 168). The Black Panther Party started several free health clinics to deal with the lack of
access to medical attention in poverty stricken communities The party also organized buses to prison
due to the extremely high number of incarcerated black people, as well as free clothing and shoe
programs for those who couldn t afford them (Harris 168). The party was able to achieve moderate
success on their fourth point. They organized and led rent strikes which resulted in tenant ownership
of buildings (Harris 171). This was in response to tenants who had previously been subjected to
inhumane living conditions and rent abuse by landlords. While the party was not able to achieve their
sixth point, they did fight against black men s involvement in wars. The party organized anti war
rallies, and encouraged minorities to

Concealed Weapons Essay
For hundreds of years, the United States has debated to what extent the 2nd amendment has really
applied to the citizens of the nation. Concealed weapons licenses have almost always been an option
for the people to feel safe knowing they are protected, but many think that this is the reason for such
crime this world sees, and have tried to take that power from We the People. Concealed weapons
availability should not be tinkered with, and the 2nd amendment shall stand as it has for the last 224
years.
Citizens have the right to carry weapons without those around them knowing they do. That right,
clearly stated in the 2nd amendment goes as follows; The right of the people to keep and bear arms,
shall not be infringed. To infringe is to wrongly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must realize that criminals are criminals, and removing citizens rights to firearms will not remove
the capacity for them to obtain weapons. Removing gun rights or restricting availability will not only
contradict the statement of the 2nd amendment but will kill our US citizens. Criminals will obtain
weapons through any source to complete crimes supposed to make them wealthier or have the toys of
this world. The crimes will continue, the only difference will be that of citizens self protection. Instead
the US government and government of the stated should be focused on proper use of the firearms and
the revision of current laws.
Carrying a concealed weapon is the biggest factor of most crimes. The people involved in the crime do
not know of the weapon, at first. It is hidden, concealed. If the laws and regulations are revised and
tightened up this will not be such a great factor. If every concealed carrier has to go through
background checks and other items, such as proper training, this will insure public safety and
drastically reduce the immature use of firearms. Rules of the current day have worked good enough in
the past, but in a world where crime is current every which way you turn, there is steps needed to be

The Emergency Management Profession
The emergency management profession has developed the concept of the disaster cycle as a basis for
disaster management. The disaster cycle has four distinct yet interrelated phases: Mitigation,
Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. The concept of the cycle implies an ongoing process in which
communities, businesses, and individuals plan for and reduce potential disaster losses. Historically,
emergency management programs have focused heavily on the preparedness and response phases,
leaving limited resources to address the recovery and mitigation phases. This research paper will
discuss the basic goals of post disaster hazard mitigation and identify areas of concentration when
developing strategies and making recommendations towards reducing and eliminating the impact of
future disaster events through a post disaster redevelopment plan.
Although not all communities encounter disasters, it s important to note that all communities are
vulnerable to disasters and should prepare accordingly. North Carolina had 43 major disaster
declarations between 1965 and 2012 (FEMA, 2014). Of those 43 disaster declarations, 16 followed
hurricanes and three were due to tropical storms. The remaining declarations were categorized as
severe storms, flooding, tornados, or a combination thereof. In addition, seven winter weather events,
one abnormally high tide event, and four wildfires also resulted in major disaster declarations.
Coastal storms are by far the most common disaster in North

Essay on Symbolism In The Veil
Symbolism In The Veil The veil that the minister wears in The Ministers Black Veil , by Nathanial
Hawthorne represents the emphasis on man s inner reality, and those thoughts and feelings which are
not immediately obvious. As Hawthorne explored this inner nature, he found the source of dignity and
virtue, and certain elements of darkness. When the minister first walks out of his home wearing the
veil, everyone is astonished. This one man in this village decides to be a nonconformist and wear this
veil without explanation. No one understands why the minister would wear such a veil for no reason at
all. This is where all the assumptions begin to linger. All of the villagers have a story for why the veil

Yet perhaps the pale faced congregation was almost as fearful a sight to the minister, as his black veil
to them. (1281) In reality the veil represents the secrets everyone is hiding within themselves. The
unifying theme is the conflict between the dark, hidden side of man and the standards imposed by his
puritanical heritage. Hawthorne brings evil and unauthorized desire into the way of puritan life, and in
so doing suggests a insightful truth that is disturbing in its implication, that is to say that we can never
hope to know each other s true selves. The themes in the story are suggested by the veil symbol, the
tension between the minister and the community. Every person has something to hide from the world.
The veil is symbolic for the cover up of peoples secrets. Although most people would not wear a veil,
the minister is proving a point. By wearing a simple black veil Mr. Hooper is making all the villagers
evaluate their everyday actions in life. The symbolic value of the black veil lies in the physical and
mental dilemma that it creates between the minister and his environment, and the guilt it conveys.

Differences Of Inuit And Haida Tribes
There are many differences in the Inuit and Haida tribes. One challenge they both face, is that of
survival. Both tribes live in very different environments. Inuit face the chances of falling in ice cold
water and freezing to death. The Haida live in a less harsh environment, but they still have the chance
of death from trees falling on them while they cut them down for canoes, and they have the chances of
another tribe coming and invading them ( killing ).
The main challenge they both have is survival, because if you don t know how to fire, shelter, and boil
water you will not make it. For the Inuit tribe they use reindeer fur to keep warm and the hide for
homes and to protect their young ones hands they sew the reindeer hide o the end of the fur jacket.

Senior practitioner and management roles
As your knowledge and expertise grow, you could move into more senior practitioner roles. Becoming
a team or unit manager, you could combine responsibility for managing other staff with on going
hands on involvement with mothers and babies. You might consider the role of consultant midwife,
which provides clinical leadership for midwives and others across maternity services, or a
management role such as head of midwifery services or supervisor of midwives at local authority
level.
Education and research
Midwives can take further qualifications in teaching and mentoring to enable them to supervise and
teach student midwives. Some then go on to pursue an academic career in a university, teaching future
midwives and carrying out research that helps move the profession forward. Or you may prefer a
lecturer practitioner role, which allows you to combine an interest in teaching with hands on
midwifery practice.
Related professions
Midwives may choose to move into other related professions, such as neonatal nursing or health
visiting. Neonatal nurses care for women and babies with health complications around birth, for
example, helping pre term babies get through the critical first few days after they re born. Health
visitors work with families at home and in the community, promoting good health with a focus on
young children.

Medical Ethics as a Moral Compass
I work for a government run medical center. As an organization we are run by government oversight,
rules and regulations and high powered patient complaints. If a provider is not ethically oriented they
will be found out and dismissed quickly. The flip side of the coin, most people work at this medical
center because they enjoy their work and the patient population. We work well with one another and

misconduct. Additionally, physicians have their own code of ethics. The Hippocratic Oath, is a set of
principles for physicians conduct, which aim to protect the rights of the patient and oblige the
physician voluntarily to behave in an altruistic manner towards patients (Riddick, 2003). The four
basic principles of medical ethics (autonomy, justice, beneficence and non maleficence) form the
foundation for health professionals to guide and decide what practices are ethical. These basic ethical

different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I,

unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium
dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity
compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter
and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the
minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated
that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted

Along with the dramatic demise of Motorola s mobile phone business in the past two years,
Soundbuzz now also faces closure of its own. It s an ironic end for a company that seemed ahead of its
time when it came out selling legit music in 1999 at the dawn of illegal downloads. Many were
surprised at the time, when Soundbuzz CEO Sudhanshu Sarronwala, a former MTV stalwart, managed
to court the music labels even when they were more interested in blocking people from ripping CDs.
Its music collection was built up very fast, providing users in Singapore with a legit alternative to
pirated songs. But soon, the competition came for Suds and his company. Though Apple iTunes is still
not officially here in Singapore now, Nokia has recently launched its music store here. And Sony
Ericsson too, has partnered SingTel to offer a direct to mobile music download service. Soundbuzz,
meanwhile, was a much smaller player and had a less extensive music collection. Plus, it somehow
only supported the Internet Explorer browser, likely because of its Windows Media back end, which
kept out a lot of users. The final nail in the coffin must have been its sale to Motorola, a company that
invented the cellphone and won millions over with the iconic Razr phone, but somehow still managed
to lose direction in its cellphone business thanks to poor management and decision making. Before
Soundbuzz shuts its store, it advises users to download and back up all the stuff they bought. Users

Selma Book Vs Book Essay
The conflicts met between the Civil Rights Movement protesters and the white people of the South
were incredibly gruesome. While peace and equality for African Americans was the driving force of
the protests, violence and inhuman resistance was the force for the white people. In the March Trilogy
Books, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, and in the movie Selma, written by Paul Webb and
directed by Ava DuVernay, we are given a glimpse of these troubling times during the 1960 s. The
tone was very dark, harsh, and violent. Because voting rights and equality were important to them, the
mass of marchers continued their protests despite the beatings and cruelty they faced. Although there
were horrendous acts made against the African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where a crowd of resisters were waiting for them. Even though the marchers faced violent opposition
and met with conflict, they continued their protests. The books and the movie displayed conflict
throughout. One example is during the first attempt to cross the bridge, when the marchers were met
by the Alabama State Troopers. It went very dark, very quick, as the troopers barged towards them,
making this day known as Bloody Sunday , March 7, 1965. When asked for his comments in the
movie by the press after the brutal attack on the marchers, King says While rageful violence continues
towards the unarmed people of Selma, while they are assaulted with tear gas and batons like enemy in
a war, no citizen of this country can call themselves blameless, for we all bear a responsibility for our
fellow man. I am appealing to men and women of God and goodwill everywhere, white, black and
otherwise. If you believe all are created equal, come to Selma. Join us. Join our march against
injustice and inhumanity. We need you to stand with us . The second attempt to cross the bridge on
March 9, 1965 brought clergy, men, and women from all over to join. But faced conflict as well, this
time between Martin Luther King Jr, and the marchers themselves. However, there was a major
difference regarding this attempt to cross, between the books and the movie. In the books, the
marchers were met on the bridge by a Federal Official who

Society Is The Evil Source Of Society In Lord Of The Flies
In Lord of the Flies, Golding uses society as an evil source. For example, throughout the story, the
boys have adapted living on the island and have turned to savagery mode. In chapter 11, Simon s
death is shown as an evil act because the boys brutally killed him, letting out their savagery urges. The
boys were so concentrated in killing the beast as it struggled forward... At once the crowd surged after
it...leapt onto the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, and no movements[of
Simon] but the tearing of teeth and claws (Golding 153). This quote illustrates that without societal
constraints keeping humans from acting on their evil impulses, they are more likely to express their
evilness. Golding uses the lack of society as an evil source to explain how people need structure.
Moreover, evil also comes from society, when the police officers shoot the innocent people. The police
after many days after Katrina in New Orleans, have been on guard with loaded guns and fired on a
group of unarmed civilians, wounding a family of four and killing two.. (Lee 3). This quote
demonstrates that the police are excessive when complications in the society arise. This is important
because humans have a difficult time containing evil from becoming a dominant force in our lives.
The society enables the police to portray their lack of communication towards people. In Lord of the
Flies and Rumor to Fact in Tales of Post Katrina Violence has demonstrated that evil is

Michael and Tyler both realized how reliant the business is on technology and equipment and how
they must safeguard it for themselves and the customers and what liability issues they face if not done.
Issues:
The current situation presents itself with issue to consider, first, is the grand opening of the new
restaurant location and the continued smooth uninterrupted operation of the current restaurant, second,
is dealing with the safeguarding of their equipment and data and developing a plan on how this will be
accomplished. In looking deeper, regarding the point of sale system (POS) its servers and other
organizational data, what safety measures should be implemented for loss of power, password
protection, setting up firewalls to secure from hackers, recovery and mitigation. Not only does a
business need to protect themselves in these matters but consideration needs to be given on how to
protect the customers while using the restaurants Wi Fi, its website and social media portals and spell
out the terms of use so all parties involved are aware of the risks. In order to address some of these
matters a comprehensive Risk Management Analysis should be performed like the example shown in
Figure 14.1 which will crosswalk you through the impact (high, medium and low) based on the
questions you would have. Another matter needing to be addressed would be a Computer Resource

The Internet s Impact On Social Capital
In the 21st century humans are presented with means to impact their societies potential in a greater
way than ever before. With new technology, individuals have astounding control over the foundations
of social value. One of the most powerful tools to mold these foundations is the Internet. After its
creation in the 1950s, the Internet has witnessed excessive and continuous growth. As more and more
people become part of the Internet s population its power to shape society s capital. To examine this
power the definition of social capital must be clarified. Former president of the American Political
Science Association, Robert Putnam explains in his book Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of
American Community that social capital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like food and shelter, community development has also allocated a majority of human resources.
From primitive inventions such as basic language and writing utensils to the telephone and the
Internet, humans have a communal goal to connect more frequently and with more people. As of 2014,
the Internet is the most successful device because it increases global connection and frequency of
communication. The Internet increases community access enabling users to communicate with forty
percent of the world, over three billion people (Internet). Increasing by almost thirty thousand users a
day the Internet exhibits amounts of efficiency surpassing that of other communication technologies
(Howard 383). Before the Internet social networks were limited to local communities. Communication
mainly occurred between people geographically close. The Internet has broken the constraint
geography placed on community. Sociologist Barry Wellman discusses the Internets extension of
society connectedness in Connecting Community: On and Offline. With the Internet, people have
global connectivity and [i]nstead of being bound up in a neighborhood community where all know all
people create networks based on their unique traits not proximity (Wellman 25,27). Through this
increased exchange between diverse people the global social capital is increased as well. The world as

Okay, so clearly this kid has no idea what MLA format is. I don t get it. Did he even look at the

paragraphs deep. I had made a deal with myself, no more than four hours of grading on the weekends.
So much for that. I looked across my desk at the pen holder/old mug and grabbed a new red pen. My

started marking away, and soon the page was thoroughly doused in red ink. Capitalize here...comma

Yummy, a half eaten granola bar and mystery Tupperware. I took my chances with the granola bar,

After cramming the stale granola bar into my mouth I pulled the wrinkled pages of the essay back in

Changing The Voting Age
In 2012, 62% of Americans that are elgible voters actually did vote. It should be our goal to have a
higher voting rate like in Belgium it s elgible voters are at 93% participation. Changing the legal
voting age from eighteen to sixteen won t change the participation rate. I believe the legal voting age
of eighteen needs to stay how it is because younger voters already have a small outcome of voters and
a voter younger than eighteen isn t truly an adult. If we change the voting age now it will only hurt
than help.
There is only 38% of younger population that did vote in 2012. So if there isn t a difference in age the
numbers will still be very small. Letting people a couple years younger vote, won t help boost the
participation, but make the younger voters have even lower voting rates. I believe that younger people
of the age of sixteen most likely are too young to understand everything about politics. So if they
cannot comprehend the politics of it all then they sure won t vote if they don t even know. The small
percentage of voters is just one fact that proves changing the legal voting age won t change anything
for the participation of voting Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Paul Basden s A Congenial Way
Paul Basden begins his conversation on worship by seeking to define its meaning. However, the
reader will learn quickly that this task is easier said than done. Basden examines worship through
theological, biblical, and historical facets and ultimately determines that Worship has never been
practiced in all places by all people in one way (18). In order to discuss the various types of worship in
a congenial way, Basden introduces six authors that are charged with defending and critique each
other s methods.
First, Paul Zahl defines and defends the practice of formal liturgical worship. For Zahl, formal
liturgical worship is first and foremost vertical worship. Formal liturgical worship emphasizes

Best acknowledges that often in worship skirmishes what divides is not what is important, namely
truth, but instead what is temporal, namely music style. For Best, the most effective way to worship is
to rely upon the historical truth preserved in the hymn book.
In Chapter 3, Joe Horness sets forth an argument for contemporary music driven worship. This style of
worship has an emphasis on relationship. Horness seeks to set forth the true goal of contemporary
worship. It is not just about the instrumentation; instead it focuses on the communication. Horness
takes the reader personally through his journey from traditional worship to contemporary worship,
including his experience with Willow Creek Church. In his chapter, Horness promotes an emphasis on
connecting: connecting unbelievers with believers and ultimately, connecting all people with God. He
states, People of this generation are longing to experience the genuine presence of God. And God is
longing to move in and among the hearts of his people. If we will learn to worship from hearts that are
fully engaged, God will be glorified and set free to move in us and among us (104). Horness ends his
chapter with some brief warnings for those involved in the contemporary worship. He then encourages
all worshipers to seek above all to bring their best to God

The Racism Of African Americans
From the beginning African Americans started off as kings and queens of Africa. They ruled their own
people. Stories have been told how the rulers were tricked by English men or most commonly known
as the white man. This has been configured and no one really knows the true story because we didn t
exist then. African Americans were deprived from their mainland. Blacks were then transported to the
New America. In 1619, the first blacks were enslaved in Virginia. They were used to do many jobs by
owners because Caucasians couldn t handle being in the sun for long periods of time but blacks were
called the lazy ones. African Americans as a group were discriminated, enslaved, and had no power.
There is two types of racism which is overt and subtle. Overt racism is more blatant and may take the
form of public statements about the inferiority of members of a racial or ethnic group. For example, a
racist chanting during a public event. Subtle racism, for example, suggesting an African Americans
athletes have natural abilities for a certain sports. African Americans get both types of this racism. It
goes from signs, flags, entertainment, etc. In entertainment we are nationally talked about comedies,
television shows, reality, etc. Blacks are portrayed as loud and it shows just a couple individuals and
we are discriminated by their actions. The things people see on television by a particular race, people
assume the entire race does that or contribute to their actions. Media is a

History vs. Hollywood
The Patriot The Revolutionary war, sparked by the colonist s anger towards taxation without
representation, was a conflict between the United States and its mother country Great Britain. This
event had been considered the most significant event in the American history. It separated the thirteen
colonies from the tyrannical ruling of King George. The revolutionary war was not a big war, The
military conflict was, by the standards of later wars, a relatively modest one. Battle deaths on the
American side totaled fewer than 5,000 1. However, the war proved that the thirteen colonies were

Every time something goes wrong for the Continental army, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibbson) waves
the flag and all the soldiers are pumped and ready for war. The Hollywood version of British
commanders is very different from the real commanders. In the movie, the commander was cruel and

Andersen in the context of Figure 11.1. The architectural design of a firm varies greatly. In 1950, the
business environment of Arthur Andersen included using the computer effectively for automated
bookkeeping. Structure and regulation of the markets, helped Arthur Andersen to develop into a well

The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay
Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of
falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological involvement
of falciparum malaria in particular.
Materials and Methods:
A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using
simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological
examination from January to December 2014.
Results:
The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological
manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation,
followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological
manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological
manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit.
Conclusion:
Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By
documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates can
be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained to
make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease.

For most, specifically female poets, Emily Dickinson is a legend. Dickinson emerged out of an era in
the 1800 s when women were not acknowledged for their diligence and were not given the

The author s main point of view is defining what a jerk looks, sounds and presents itself. A jerk doesn
t mean he is unintelligent or unschooled, he is just unable to see itself as he appears to others. The
author wants to present to the audience the difference between a non jerk and a complete jerk. One
supporting point the author used in his story was a former college president he once knew. If you
never met a jerk, well this college president was the perfect definition of one. Even though, he was
smart schooled individual his behavior was offensive to others. A jerk is practically an utterly
miserable person, who doesn t enjoy life like other nor have humor as other people. Working for a law
firm can be quite stressful. You would think

Abraham Lincoln Contributions
Throughout history there have been numerous Americans who have contributed to the development of
America. From the long lists of names, there is always one name that rises above all the others,
Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is commonly known as the one of the nation s greatest president because of
his accomplishments and achievements, especially during the civil war. However, even before his
presidency, Lincoln had a respectable reputation amongst the people. He was known to defuse the
tension between two people through his humor and optimistic view of life. Lincoln s victory in the
election of 1860 caused the South to secede from the union, thus creating a costly and bloody war that
forever changed America. Although it was one of the worst times in American history, Lincoln
remained loyal to the people and was a strong leader throughout his presidency; his contributions to
America will never be forgotten. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin Country,
Kentucky. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln who raised him with a modest upbringing. At
a young age, Lincoln lost his mother to a milk sickness in 1818. Just over a year of his mother s death,
his father remarried to Sarah Johnston, a strong and loving woman with whom Abraham had quickly
become close to. Due to a land dispute in 1817, the Lincolns were forced to move to Perry County,
Indiana. In 1830, they moved again to Macon County, Illinois and then again to Coles County.

Stereotypes In The Wasp Factory
The novels Lady Audely s secret , Rebecca , and The wasp Factory possess analogous elements of the
gothic. They present diverging concepts of femininity rebelling against imposed gender stereotypes,
and focalise on the usually marginalised abjected figures of society. (Kristeva, 1982:3) This essay
aims to argue how the gendered the monster are embodiments of social anxieties and ideologies and
how challenge these projections. Mutual notions within the texts such as: the use of gothic tropes,
uncanny gender subverting society s ideals, and monsters as metaphors will be explored. Feminist and
Gothic critics, predominantly Cohen and Butler, will be engaged in order to consider distinctive
vantage points.

The Effect Of Solar And On Earth
Most solar storms produce a variety of effects on our planet. The intensity of a solar storm increase
gradually, the storm can begin to develop the capacity to create a major disaster on Earth. The variety
of intensity of solar storm is like the difference between being hit with a tropical rainstorm and being
devastated by a Category 5 hurricane. Oak Ridge National Laboratories estimated that only a solar
storm just slightly stronger than the 13 March 1989 storm would have the capacity to produce a
cascading blackout involving the entire Northeastern sector of the United States and other effect on
the terrestrial biological systems. So the question is what are the components of Solar Flares? How
does it cause damages? What are they? Are there any measures to mitigate the risks? This paper
dissects and analyzes the various threats created by Great solar storms and provide some Theorell
experiences and research details that entail the phenomena and its effects.
Solar Flares:
Definition and Impacts Introduction
Solar storms consist of three major components: solar flares, solar proton events (SPEs) and coronal
mass ejections (CMEs). CMEs can interact with Earth s magnetic field to produce a geomagnetic
storm. Not all solar storms produce all three elements but the largest solar storms tend to. (James. A
Maruesk 2007) Recent scientific information indicates that an extreme solar storm cycle activity
producing Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GIC) is predicted to

What Is Akbar An Indian Empire
Akbar created the nation on the foundation that it would truly be an Indian empire rather than another
alien conquest. He saw himself as an Indian ruler not a foreign autocrat, leading him to blend the
variety of cultural, regional, and religious heritage. Akbar understood that for his reign to prosper he
needed to command the support and participation of all Indians. He united the empire even through
marriage using symbolism of religious variety within his empire with his four wives, two of whom
were Hindu, one Christian, and one Muslim. Akbar further showed his devotion to unite the empire by
building the Hall of worship where he invited philosophers, theologians, ascetics, mystics, Hindu

Hamlet Prince Of Denmark And The Awakening Analysis
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare was written in 1599 during the
Elizabethan era. The Elizabethan era was also known as the golden age because of its developments
and changes. The Awakening by Kate Chopin was published in 1899, which was the Victorian era.
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark and the Awakening were written many years apart and
also in different literary eras, but they share many similar themes. The Awakening and Hamlet
expresses love as a major theme. In both literary works, it is presented in the same forms and different
forms. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, the theme of love is expressed through many
characters and relationships within the play. One way it is expressed is as tragic love. Tragic love is
expressed in King Hamlet and Gertrude. It is tragic love because their relationship together was very
short lived due to the temper of King Hamlets brother, Claudius. Another way that tragic love is
expressed is through the relationship of Prince Hamlet and Ophelia. That is exemplified as tragic love
because Hamlet deeply loves Ophelia, but Ophelia s father Polonis doesn t care for Hamlet and doesn
t was his daughter to pursue him because he thinks that Hamlet will just hurt her and since Hamlet is
the Prince of Denmark, Ophelia doesn t have the social standing to be good enough as the potential
queen since she is just a daughter of a courtier and Polonis doesn t want his daughter hurt. This is also
expressed as a tragic love because they cannot end up together because while Hamlet is away in
England Ophelia drowns, but hamlet doesn t find out until he comes back and is spying on her funeral.
The theme of tragic love can also be expressed with Laertes and Ophelia, since Laertes is Ophelia s
brother he wants to protect her and at Ophelia s funeral Laertes asked the doctor Must there no more
be done? and the doctor basically says we can t do anything else sine she took her own life, but
Laertes wants anything and everything possible done to give her what he thinks she deserves and he
knows that deserves more than that since he refers to her as a minist ring angel... . The theme can also
be expressed through the Gertrude and Ophelia, since at

One such book called Stargirl, demonstrates both the negative, and positive side of conformity. In the novel, author Jerry Spinelli suggests that conformity isn t necessarily a bad thing, many just use it to become a leader. How Did TheBlack Panther Party Affect The Civil Rights... The Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, California in 1966 by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. Originally intended to be a patrol force against police brutality in black communities, the Black Panther Party came to play an important role in the later years of the civil rights movement. This was due in large part to its Ten Point Program, which resulted in the implementation of many social programs, including the Free Breakfast for School Children in 1969. The social programs carried out by the Black Panther Party inspired change during the civil rights movement. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Newton and Seale recruited men from local communities to take part in police patrols. While the patrol squads were successful in reducing the instances of police brutality against black people, it also sparked intensified instances of police harassment against Black Panther Party members (Harris 167). The Black Panther Party would later gain wide recognition after their protest at the California State Capitol where Bobby Seale read the Executive Mandate Number One in 1967 (Seale 348). After Eldridge Cleaver joined the party, he suggested they change the group s name from the Black Panther Party for Self Defense to the Black Panther Party. Cleaver believed it was time for the party to lessen its emphasis on self defense against police, or rather, to increase its emphasis on the other points of the program (Harris 167). One of the most notable achievements of the Black Panther Party was their Free Breakfast for School Children program, started in San Francisco and Oakland, California in January of 1969 (Harris 168). The Black Panther Party started several free health clinics to deal with the lack of access to medical attention in poverty stricken communities The party also organized buses to prison due to the extremely high number of incarcerated black people, as well as free clothing and shoe programs for those who couldn t afford them (Harris 168). The party was able to achieve moderate success on their fourth point. They organized and led rent strikes which resulted in tenant ownership of buildings (Harris 171). This was in response to tenants who had previously been subjected to inhumane living conditions and rent abuse by landlords. While the party was not able to achieve their sixth point, they did fight against black men s involvement in wars. The party organized anti war rallies, and encouraged minorities to ... The Emergency ManagementProfession The emergency management profession has developed the concept of the disaster cycle as a basis for disaster management. The disaster cycle has four distinct yet interrelated phases: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. The concept of the cycle implies an ongoing process in which communities, businesses, and individuals plan for and reduce potential disaster losses. Historically, emergency management programs have focused heavily on the preparedness and response phases, leaving limited resources to address the recovery and mitigation phases. The unifying theme is the conflict between the dark, hidden side of man and the standards imposed by his puritanical heritage. Hawthorne brings evil and unauthorized desire into the way of puritan life, and in so doing suggests a insightful truth that is disturbing in its implication, that is to say that we can never hope to know each other s true selves. The themes in the story are suggested by the veil symbol, the tension between the minister and the community. Every person has something to hide from the world. The veil is symbolic for the cover up of peoples secrets. Although most people would not wear a veil, the minister is proving a point. By wearing a simple black veil Mr. Hooper is making all the villagers evaluate their everyday actions in life. The Lord OfThe Flies And The Cold War Essay The primary conflict in The Lord of the Flies is a portrayal of the strife between democracy and communism during the Cold War. The Cold War was the result of World War Two, where both America and Russia wanted to gain influence in the recently ravaged Europe and beyond. America wanted to continue to globalize and create a capitalist world of free trade, while the Soviets wanted to spread their influence by establishing communistic proxy states, and form a barrier between themselves and the capitalistic west. Although the Cold War may have started in Europe, it spread across the world, into Asia, South and Central America, and the Middle East. Medical Ethics AsA Moral Compass Medical Ethics as a Moral Compass I work for a government run medical center. As an organization we are run by government oversight, rules and regulations and high powered patient complaints. If a provider is not ethically oriented they will be found out and dismissed quickly. The flip side of the coin, most people work at this medical center because they enjoy their work and the patient population. We work well with one another and come together overall for the common good. There are no incentives which can lead to ethical misconduct. Additionally, physicians have their own code of ethics. The Hippocratic Oath, is a set of principles for physicians conduct, which aim to protect the rights of the patient and oblige the physician voluntarily to behave in an altruistic manner towards patients (Riddick, 2003). The four basic principles of medical ethics (autonomy, justice, beneficence and non maleficence) form the foundation for health professionals to guide and decide what practices are ethical. Dyeing Studies ofWool Fibers with Madder In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Also, the effect of different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely pre , meta and post mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The adsorption isotherm of madder on wool fibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted one. Many were surprised at the time, when Soundbuzz CEO Sudhanshu Sarronwala, a former MTV stalwart, managed to court the music labels even when they were more interested in blocking people from ripping CDs. Selma Book VsBook Essay The conflicts met between the Civil Rights Movement protesters and the white people of the South were incredibly gruesome. While peace and equality for African Americans was the driving force of the protests, violence and inhuman resistance was the force for the white people. In the March Trilogy Books, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, and in the movie Selma, written by Paul Webb and directed by Ava DuVernay, we are given a glimpse of these troubling times during the 1960 s. It went very dark, very quick, as the troopers barged towards them, making this day known as Bloody Sunday , March 7, 1965. When asked for his comments in the movie by the press after the brutal attack on the marchers, King says While rageful violence continues towards the unarmed people of Selma, while they are assaulted with tear gas and batons like enemy in a war, no citizen of this country can call themselves blameless, for we all bear a responsibility for our fellow man. Society Is TheEvil Source Of Society In Lord Of The Flies In Lord of the Flies, Golding uses society as an evil source. For example, throughout the story, the boys have adapted living on the island and have turned to savagery mode. In chapter 11, Simon s death is shown as an evil act because the boys brutally killed him, letting out their savagery urges. The boys were so concentrated in killing the beast as it struggled forward... At once the crowd surged after it...leapt onto the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, and no movements[of Simon] but the tearing of teeth and claws (Golding 153). This quote illustrates that without societal constraints keeping humans from acting on their evil impulses, they are more likely to express their evilness. Golding uses the lack of society as an evil source to explain how people need structure. Moreover, evil also comes from society, when the police officers shoot the innocent people. The police after many days after Katrina in New Orleans, have been on guard with loaded guns and fired on a group of unarmed civilians, wounding a family of four and killing two.. (Lee 3). This quote demonstrates that the police are excessive when complications in the society arise. This is important because humans have a difficult time containing evil from becoming a dominant force in our lives. The society enables the police to portray their lack of communication towards people. In Lord of the Flies and Rumor to Fact in Tales of Post Katrina Violence has demonstrated that evil is ... With new technology, individuals have astounding control over the foundations of social value. One of the most powerful tools to mold these foundations is the Internet. After its creation in the 1950s, the Internet has witnessed excessive and continuous growth. As more and more people become part of the Internet s population its power to shape society s capital. Changing The VotingAge In 2012, 62% of Americans that are elgible voters actually did vote. It should be our goal to have a higher voting rate like in Belgium it s elgible voters are at 93% participation. Changing the legal voting age from eighteen to sixteen won t change the participation rate. I believe the legal voting age of eighteen needs to stay how it is because younger voters already have a small outcome of voters and a voter younger than eighteen isn t truly an adult. If we change the voting age now it will only hurt than help. There is only 38% of younger population that did vote in 2012. So if there isn t a difference in age the numbers will still be very small. Letting people a couple years younger vote, won t help boost the participation, but make the younger voters have even lower voting rates. I believe that younger people of the age of sixteen most likely are too young to understand everything about politics. The Racism OfAfrican Americans From the beginning African Americans started off as kings and queens of Africa. They ruled their own people. Stories have been told how the rulers were tricked by English men or most commonly known as the white man. This has been configured and no one really knows the true story because we didn t exist then. African Americans were deprived from their mainland. Blacks were then transported to the New America. In 1619, the first blacks were enslaved in Virginia. They were used to do many jobs by owners because Caucasians couldn t handle being in the sun for long periods of time but blacks were called the lazy ones. African Americans as a group were discriminated, enslaved, and had no power. There is two types of racism which is overt and subtle. Overt racism is more blatant and may take the form of public statements about the inferiority of members of a racial or ethnic group. For example, a racist chanting during a public event. Subtle racism, for example, suggesting an African Americans athletes have natural abilities for a certain sports. African Americans get both types of this racism. It goes from signs, flags, entertainment, etc. In entertainment we are nationally talked about comedies, television shows, reality, etc. Blacks are portrayed as loud and it shows just a couple individuals and we are discriminated by their actions. The Environmental, Strategic,And Organizational Changes... 1. Discuss the environmental, strategic, and organizational changes that occurred over the life of Andersen in the context of Figure 11.1. The architectural design of a firm varies greatly. In 1950, the business environment of Arthur Andersen included using the computer effectively for automated bookkeeping. Structure and regulation of the markets, helped Arthur Andersen to develop into a well respected and reputable auditing company. The federal law in the 1930s requiring companies to turn over their financial statements yearly to an independent auditor not only strengthened Arthur Andersen, but also helped with their impeccable reputation. Arthur Andersen s strategy included quality audits with a well managed staff and profits. Promotions and rewards were plentiful when auditors made sound auditing decisions. In the 1990s, Arthur Andersen s organizational architecture and strategy focused on generating new business, cost cutting, and performance evaluations along with decision rights over its business (Brickley, Smith, Zimmerman, 2009). 2. Evaluate Andersen s claim that their problems on the Enron audit were due to a few bad partners in the organization. If you disagree with this claim, discuss what you think were the root causes of the problem. I do not believe Andersen s claim. I believe that they had full knowledge of what was happening at Enron. I believe that Enron was paying off the auditors (staffers) in the Houston office. I believe they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emily Dickinson ExtendedMetaphors For most, specifically female poets, Emily Dickinson is a legend. Dickinson emerged out of an era in the 1800 s when women were not acknowledged for their diligence and were not given the opportunities to be educated as males were given. Dickinson wrote a total of one thousand seven hundred and seventy five poems including She Sweeps with many colored Brooms , which was written between 1858 and 1861. Dickinson is well known for the themes of her literary works to involve death, love, religion, nature, or eternity. If I NeverMet A Jerk Summary The author s main point of view is defining what a jerk looks, sounds and presents itself. A jerk doesn t mean he is unintelligent or unschooled, he is just unable to see itself as he appears to others. The author wants to present to the audience the difference between a non jerk and a complete jerk. One supporting point the author used in his story was a former college president he once knew. If you never met a jerk, well this college president was the perfect definition of one. Even though, he was smart schooled individual his behavior was offensive to others. A jerk is practically an utterly miserable person, who doesn t enjoy life like other nor have humor as other people. Working for a law firm can be quite stressful. You would think ... Abraham Lincoln Contributions Throughouthistory there have been numerous Americans who have contributed to the development of America. From the long lists of names, there is always one name that rises above all the others, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is commonly known as the one of the nation s greatest president because of his accomplishments and achievements, especially during the civil war. However, even before his presidency, Lincoln had a respectable reputation amongst the people. He was known to defuse the tension between two people through his humor and optimistic view of life. Lincoln s victory in the election of 1860 caused the South to secede from the union, thus creating a costly and bloody war that forever changed America. Although it was one of the worst times in American history, Lincoln remained loyal to the people and was a strong leader throughout his presidency; his contributions to America will never be forgotten. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin Country, Kentucky. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln who raised him with a modest upbringing. At a young age, Lincoln lost his mother to a milk sickness in 1818. Just over a year of his mother s death, his father remarried to Sarah Johnston, a strong and loving woman with whom Abraham had quickly become close to. Due to a land dispute in 1817, the Lincolns were forced to move to Perry County, Indiana. In 1830, they moved again to Macon County, Illinois and then again to Coles County. Stereotypes In TheWasp Factory The novels Lady Audely s secret , Rebecca , and The wasp Factory possess analogous elements of the gothic. The Effect OfSolar And On Earth Most solar storms produce a variety of effects on our planet. The intensity of a solar storm increase gradually, the storm can begin to develop the capacity to create a major disaster on Earth. The variety of intensity of solar storm is like the difference between being hit with a tropical rainstorm and being devastated by a Category 5 hurricane. Oak Ridge National Laboratories estimated that only a solar storm just slightly stronger than the 13 March 1989 storm would have the capacity to produce a cascading blackout involving the entire Northeastern sector of the United States and other effect on the terrestrial biological systems. So the question is what are the components of Solar Flares? How does it cause damages? What are they? Are there any measures to mitigate the risks? This paper dissects and analyzes the various threats created by Great solar storms and provide some Theorell experiences and research details that entail the phenomena and its effects. Solar Flares: Definition and Impacts Introduction Solar storms consist of three major components: solar flares, solar proton events (SPEs) and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). CMEs can interact with Earth s magnetic field to produce a geomagnetic storm. Not all solar storms produce all three elements but the largest solar storms tend to. (James. A Maruesk 2007) Recent scientific information indicates that an extreme solar storm cycle activity producing Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GIC) is predicted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hamlet Prince OfDenmark And The Awakening Analysis The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare was written in 1599 during the Elizabethan era. The Elizabethan era was also known as the golden age because of its developments and changes. The Awakening by Kate Chopin was published in 1899, which was the Victorian era. The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark and the Awakening were written many years apart and also in different literary eras, but they share many similar themes. The Awakening and Hamlet expresses love as a major theme. In both literary works, it is presented in the same forms and different forms. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, the theme of love is expressed through many characters and relationships within the play. One way it is expressed is as tragic love. Tragic love is expressed in King Hamlet and Gertrude. It is tragic love because their relationship together was very short lived due to the temper of King Hamlets brother, Claudius. Another way that tragic love is expressed is through the relationship of Prince Hamlet and Ophelia. That is exemplified as tragic love because Hamlet deeply loves Ophelia, but Ophelia s father Polonis doesn t care for Hamlet and doesn t was his daughter to pursue him because he thinks that Hamlet will just hurt her and since Hamlet is the Prince of Denmark, Ophelia doesn t have the social standing to be good enough as the potential queen since she is just a daughter of a courtier and Polonis doesn t want his daughter hurt. This is also expressed as a tragic love because they cannot end up together because while Hamlet is away in England Ophelia drowns, but hamlet doesn t find out until he comes back and is spying on her funeral. The theme of tragic love can also be expressed with Laertes and Ophelia, since Laertes is Ophelia s brother he wants to protect her and at Ophelia s funeral Laertes asked the doctor Must there no more be done? and the doctor basically says we can t do anything else sine she took her own life, but Laertes wants anything and everything possible done to give her what he thinks she deserves and he knows that deserves more than that since he refers to her as a minist ring angel... .
