that would benefit from more development.
First the script opens rather mildly. The idea that the music store is in jeopardy of
being taken over or closed down certainly is workable, but a bit outdated, meaning
this type of plot beat (being evicted etc.) has been used several times before.
Given that there s a theme about time perhaps the story should begin in Dave s past
showing the end of his career with his band. This could set up his inner conflict about
missing out on a more famous life versus being almost famous. Then the structure can
transition to the present day storyline of him working in the record shop.
It would also be nice to set up Dave as a man that regrets some of his life decisions
and wishes he could go back to the past and undo them. Right now, the scenes in the
opening and with Jane simply are not the most engaging. The characters feel a bit
immature and old fashioned.
On the other hand, the opening pages does foreshadow events with Amanda, Gary s
desire to be a manager, and the city undergoing new development in which the past

A car is spewing deadly carbon dioxide, forty times more than the car next to you.
Piling onto many recent scandals in Europe, Germany s Volkswagen has cheated
emissions tests. The scandal has sparked enormous stifle across the world and turmoil
in the company. The Volkswagencompany started when Adolf Hitler gave the
order to have the small middle class car to be produced. VW produced the Beetle in
the 1930s to much of Germany s population. After the end of the third Reich,
Volkswagen spread and became a large job creator in Germany as well as an
international brand (Morning Edition). Volkswagen prioritization of the European
market, led them to bet their future on green tech chips and diesel engines. This is in
contrary to the moves of many other car makers, who are pursuing electric cars in
the American market. The American market thought of diesel engines as secondary
and insignificant (Ziegler). The Environmental Protection Agency s Tier ii emissions
standards had high bars for diesel emissions that would be extremely difficult to
reach. There was a heavy burden for Volkswagen s engineers to create a quantum
leap in the diesel engine in terms of emissions and fuel economy. To cut these
emissions Volkswagen would need to use an effective but bulky and expensive
system in its cars. However cheating the emissions tests would be fairly easy due to

Variables in Scala are declared using the keywords val or var. The difference
between the two are that vals can not be changed, they are immutable the program
will throw an exception if one attempts to modify them, this is mainly useful for
functional programming. For declaring functions the def keyword is used
followed by a list of parameters in parentheses and then a colon, followed by the
type, the function returns and then an equals sign followed by a block. For

class to avoid having long argument lists in functions and pattern matching.

The main types of expressions in Scala are if conditions which are basic if
statements that found in nearly all languages, for comprehensions, and match
expressions. For comprehensions are used to construct a sequence of results by
iterating over a collection or some condition. The syntax for a for comprehension is
