The Institut Montserrat was founded in 1941 in Barcelona as a small girls' school and has since grown significantly, reaching 1,120 students by 1970 when a new building was constructed. It became coeducational in 1978-1979 and has expanded to include a library, auditorium, and beautiful Romanic garden. The school offers a choice of social, humanistic, scientific, or technological curriculums and is located near public transportation in the Eixample district of Barcelona.
