This document describes an experiment to investigate osmosis in potato chips submerged in sodium chloride solutions of varying concentrations and distilled water. The experiment aims to observe the change in mass of potato chips before and after osmosis. Osmosis is defined as the movement of water through a semi-permeable membrane from a region of lower solute concentration to higher solute concentration. The prediction is that potato chips submerged in higher concentration solutions will lose more mass due to more water exiting the cells. Methods, variables, and further details of the experiment are provided.
