Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Moving pallets simultaneously
The Sequencing Buffer works like a rubiks cube and consists of
three main components. Elevators, transfer carts and chain-driven
buffer lanes deal with transport in the X, Y, or Z direction, allowing
many pallets to move simultaneously. This modular setup also
makes it flexible to physical constraints. Columns, irregular spaces
forklift driveways and cooling-fans: The Sequencing Buffer can
easily be built around it, taking away the need for investments in a
new facility or adjustments to an existing building.

ORTEC Automated Shuttle Warehouse
Provides cost effective storage with flexibility to cope with
changes in orders, products and throughput. To optimize mass
storage consider the ORTEC Automated Shuttle Warehouse
which is characterized by ultra-high density, design flexibility,
redundancy and scalability.
Easy handling of fluctuating workloads
The Shuttle Warehouse makes use of the same components as
the Sequencing Buffer, but instead of driven chain conveyors in the
storage lanes the shuttle warehouse makes use of a pallet shuttle
for storage and retrieval of pallets. The shuttles - charged on the
transfer cart - move freely throughout the entire system, to any
level. Result: great redundancy and capabilities to handle high and
fluctuating workloads. As volumes increase, shuttles are easily
added thanks to plug and play technology.
Suitable for warehouses, production plants,
and distribution centers
n Cold stores and conditioned spaces
n Batch products
n Existing and low roofed buildings
n High throughput warehouses
n When scalability is key
Extreme flexibility
When compared to traditional AS/RS technologies, the extreme
adaptability of this shuttle based technology is unmatched. It
follows ceiling contours, selectivity differs per zone, floor loads are
low, and the ground level can be kept free for forklift corridors:
The ideal system for maximizing the capacities within existing
facilities.
