2. Multi-purpose solutions for Liebensteiner
Liebensteiner Paperwork Company experienced strong
growth in the past two years, when the number of
employees shot from 170 to more than 220 and the
company’s own fleet of trucks increased from 14 to 19.
As a result of the large amount of orders, both the number
of loads to be scheduled on a daily basis and the quantity of
Just-In-Time (JIT) requests increased. To be better equipped
for future growth, Liebensteiner implemented ORTEC Route
Scheduling and ORTEC Load Building.
Route scheduling and load building
ORTEC Route Scheduling is used in the preliminary stages
of the operational planning process in order to determine
the needed vehicle capacity. Based on this calculation,
one can see if the number of trucks required exceeds the
number of vehicles available, allowing sufficient time to
organize additional capacity. The load space optimization
solution, ORTEC Load Building, automatically copies
new delivery dates from the central database. Based on
defined criteria and in compliance with various restrictions,
such as maximum allowable load, orders in ORTEC Load
Building are consolidated with the customer orders. Next,
loading meters are calculated as a basis for the route
planning process. The results are copied back to the central
database and stored with the route prepared by ORTEC
Route Scheduling.
It is also possible to manually calculate the route, where the
user is able to assign a particular vehicle combination and
then can assess the outcome. The system then checks
whether there are any restrictions to planning the route, and
if so, notifies the user. The route lists are used in the host
system in order to control the pallets and to generate the
freight lists. Based on the vehicle departure times calculated
and the order of the deliveries, it is possible to control the
stock removal processes, all automatically, in the high-rack
storage area. In addition to being able to control the route
planning in the system, planners also have the option to
manually change the calculated loading plan and the loading
graphics generated by the system. To support the shipping
department, both the plan as well as the graphics can be
sent by email.

for Liebensteiner, setting new standards by speeding up
and securing company logistics processes. Liebensteiner’s
expectations for the new system were completely fulfilled,
in terms of load optimization as well as their “Just-in-Time”
orders - both of which can be handled smoothly and
efficiently with the software applications implemented.
