"Child Marriage is a serious mistake. Don't make your child shed tears for the rest of their lives".
Child Marriage is a curse for our society. This presentation will give you and idea of child marriage.
With a view of engaging in a social cause on the eve of Engineer’s Day, we wish to visit to Anjuman-E-Mufidul Yatama Orphanage on the 6th of October, 2016.
It is also part of our S. P. M. assignment; it is like a small project for us which focuses on social area.
For this excursion, we have planned to distribute snacks, clothes, books along with some stationary things that can be useful for them, and conduct fun activities for the kids. A motivational lecture for the kids is also in our itinerary.
The present status report includes issues of rights to survival and development, these being health, early childhood development and education. A major section is devoted to child protection since the issues to be addressed are far too many. While there is a chapter dedicated to violence against children, separate chapters deal with child sexual abuse, juvenile justice, child labour and trafficking. The last two years have seen large scale de-housing of children and their families. As an addition this time we have included a section on right to adequate housing as it is a right that cuts across survival, development and protection issues. Given that a large number of children are growing in situations of emergency – human made or natural, it was critical to address their situation separately. Even as we write this report a new disaster has struck the country. Thousands have died or been rendered homeless in Jammu & Kashmir due to the earthquake. The rights of the disabled child have always been marginalised. But since little has changed since our last report, we have addressed issues of disability in the chapters on health and education.

Faculty Development Programme - Dr HK Garg, Sarojini Naidu Govt. Girls Colleg...PROFESSOR Dr. H.K. Garg
Higher Education has witnessed turbulent changes over the last few decades. On one side is the mushrooming of colleges at every nook of the city, churning out unfinished graduates, on the other side there has been a steady decline in the educational standards, where academics and values both seems to have taken a back seat.
On a globe, where ICT offers all advanced tools like teleconferencing, e-mail, audio-learning, television classes, interactive voice response system, webinars, etc., to the potential scholars, our undergraduates are still relying on hard copies of notes or exam-ready booklets for easy scores.
The collegiate education system is amazingly stringent and inimical to change. Firstly, the academic decisions are taken at political level and slapped on the educational guild. Secondly, the over-enthusiastic administration is always on-toes to implement the action plan at once, without sensitizing the academic executors & stakeholders. To this, quality initiatives are never roused from within the system ; when introduced from outside, they are resisted ; if imposed, they are ritualized. Therefore, most of the innovations succumb at the very embryonic stage.
We strongly feel that there is an urgent need of active participation from teachers, learners and the society, at large, to express their aptitude and insight with unclouded thoughts and self-awareness. With this framework in mind, the Quality Assurance Cell has organized a One week Capacity Building Program on Quality Sustenance & Faculty Development. The program has been meticulously customized to let the faculty manage their personal, academic, intellectual and fiscal portfolio besides delivering quality in their daily academic and executive pursuits. The upcoming week shall be peppered with a series of Guest Lectures, Group Discussions and Brainstorming Sessions on diverse topics to cherish the veteran minds. Hope the program would bring productive outcome.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

PREFACE
This was the first time we were associated with an NGO and helping out children with the best
of our knowledge and skills. Social Action for Manpower Creation- SAMPARC is non-profit
making Public Charitable Society and Trust in India established in 1990 for the
rehabilitation, care and educational development of orphan children, children of sex
workers and all other needy, poor and disadvantaged children. Raising funds for NGO is the
most crucial task for social organizations and we took up the task of helping the trust in doing
so. Our mission at the NGO was to look into details of various activities of children over there
and help the organization in excel into those. The time was a constraint though, one week was
too less to accomplish our tasks with the organization. We learnt to work towards achieving the
goals. Working at the NGO was totally a new experience in itself, we visited the orphanage. We
came to know about the challenges faced by the instructors, interacted with the children and
realized that they have desire to learn about technologies and social media which was
incredible. The organization is helping them in channelizing and reaching out to the World on
their own. This in itself gave a sense of accomplishment for the trust and pride for us to be
working with the organization, which is working for such a great cause.

This live project was undertaken to fulfil the following objectives
To study and understand how a Non-Governmental Organization operates.
To have a deep insight into the life of the children present at the orphanage.
To inculcate basic knowledge to the children, present there and spending time with
them

SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
This report of live project is an important partial requirement of India’s education system
because knowledge and learning become perfect when it is associated with theory and

9. 9 | P a g e
LIMITATION OF STUDY
The duration of the internship was a limitation for us in terms of mastering the NGO’S functioning, 1
week is too short to adapt to so many children and to start deliver to your maximum capacity. Even
children over there had their own packed schedule result of which only 2 hours in a day was allotted to
us.
SAMPLING METHOD
The in-depth interview and questionnaire procedure for the project report is limited to
SAMPARC- KOLKATA SHISHU KENDRA.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD
The data are collected from the staff members of the orphanage. Moreover, these data are
collected directly through an in-depth interview.
Both the primary and secondary form of information is used to make the report more meaningful and
presentable.
DATA ANALYSIS METHOD
The data analysis of this project is represented on quantitative manner.

FINDINGS
After a detailed interaction with the president, project in charge Mr. Pradip Halder and Mrs.
Shilpa Samadder it was found that SAMPARC, Kolkata has a staff strength ranging from 6-10
members. They have wide area coverage both in the rural and the urban areas. They
educate their children at their orphanage up to class 12 and after that interested candidates
are sent to their Pune Rehabilitation centre and are sent for job skill training so that they
can earn a decent living. Their main area of interest is providing basic education to
underprivileged children and orphan children. The Kolkata Kendra is under the Child in Need
Institute (CINI), which is the parent NGO in West Bengal.
Corporate Social Responsibility activities are regularly conducted by Just Dial, Sambhaat
Pratidin, PWC and Mahindra. Interacting with the guests regularly leads to the overall
personality development of the children.
On Occasions like Sarasvati Pooja and other festive occasions the NGO conducts
programmes and the children actively participate in it. It was also found that the children
have participated in a Bengali reality show named “Dadagiri” conducted by Mr. Sourav
Ganguli. Provisions for watching cricket matches during IPL and World Cup are made here
and students are in constant touch with newspapers too.
Limitations that the NGO has to face are as follows:
Resistance from Political Parties
Monetary Issues
Increasing Proportion of Expenditure
Limitations of the Children:
The children receive gifts on a regular basis from the guests, this leads to greed and
more expectations in the young minds
Fake interactions to gain popularity.

CONCLUSION
Through this project we could learn a lot of things regarding how NGOS operate and work
and about the lifestyle of the students there. The saying “All that glitters is not gold” is
perfect for an organization like this. Despite lot of hurdles and hardships this NGO and their
staff are doing a herculean task for the society and the community as a whole. We respect
and salute their relentless commitment and dedication towards serving these young
children. The love of the children and the affection of the staffs towards us was more than
words. We would like to thank all the staff members of SAMPARC for cooperating with us
all throughout. This activity made us realize that no matter how much we reach our goals,
we must always contribute our might towards the society and the under privileged section
of the country.
RECOMMENDATIONS
There are a few things which we would like to
suggest SAMPARC, Kolkata for the benefit of the
students and the organization as a whole.
It was found that there were many
mosquitoes in and around the building it
would be better if the authorities arrange for
continuous provision for mosquito repellent/
sprays / nets to protect the children from
Mosquito borne diseases.
Proper ventilation of bed rooms is necessary.
More involvement in extracurricular activities
and sports is required.
SAMPARC- KOLKATA SHISHU KENDRA can ask
their visitors and guest to share their
experience and rate them on Google review
just like we did.
Old student’s association can be created for
all the present children.
